Captain America

Backstory:

Steve Rogers was born September 28, 1922, to poor Irish immigrant parents, Sarah and Joseph Rogers.Rogers grew up a frail youth during the Great Depression in New York City, New York. Little else is known about Rogers' early life other than the fact that a strong sense of duty, honor, and humility was instilled in him; perhaps due to his Irish Protestant upbringing. Rogers' father died when he was a child and his mother died from pneumonia later, when he was in his late teens.

Horrified by newsreel footage of Nazis ransacking Europe and atrocities in Asia that the Empire of Japan committed in China and Korea, Rogers tried to enlist in the Army but was rejected as 4-F because of his frailty and sickness. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea to fight for his country, General Chester Phillips, of the US Army, offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a top-secret performance-enhancing experiment called Operation Rebirth. Rogers agreed and was taken to a secret laboratory in Washington, D.C., where he was introduced to Doctor Abraham Erskine (code named Professor Joseph Reinstein), the creator of the Super-Soldier Serum.

After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Soldier Serum. Given part of the compound intravenously and another part orally, Rogers was then bombarded by vita-rays, a special combination of exotic (in 1941) wavelengths of radiation designed to accelerate and stabilize the serum's effect on his body. Steve Rogers emerged from the vita-ray chamber with a perfect human body. A Nazi spy, who observed the experiment, murdered Dr. Erskine mere minutes after its conclusion. Dr. Erskine died without fully committing the Super-Soldier formula to paper, leaving Rogers the sole beneficiary of his genius.

Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program that taught him gymnastics, hand-to-hand combat from Colonel Rex Applegate and William Essart Fairbairn, and military strategy. Three months later, he was given his first assignment: to stop the Nazi agent called the Red Skull. To help him become a symbolic counterpart to the Red Skull, Rogers was given the red, white, and blue costume of Captain America.

Guile

Backstory:

When Guile was a trainee in the United States Air Force, he met his superior officer, Charlie Nash and asked him to teach him his unique form of fighting, which Charlie agreed to do. Guile learned the style, but his hot temper caused him to lack proficiency in the moves compared to Charlie; Charlie can shoot Sonic Booms with one hand, while Guile needs both.

When Guile was a fighter pilot, he was shot down and taken prisoner. After being repeatedly interrogated in an enemy base as a POW, he eventually was rescued by First Lieutenant Charlie Nash, and the two have been close friends ever since.

Guile is sent by the United States Air Force to look for his senior teammate and best friend Charlie, who has gone missing during a secret investigation. Guile's search eventually leads him to the Interpol investigator Chun-Li, who warns him not to follow Charlie due to the danger involved. Guile demonstrates his fighting ability, and assures Chun-Li that he will not let their friend come to harm. He eventually finds the Shadaloo base in Thailand. Guile informs Charlie that they do not need to be there any longer, as an aerial bombardment will begin in an hour. Charlie, however, insists that Shadaloo leader M. Bison will escape, and they come to blows. The sinister and powerful M. Bison appears and attacks the two Airmen, but is no match for their combined prowess. He is forced to retreat, calling a gunship to keep them pinned down and cover his escape.

The two give chase, and follow him into the base, deciding that M. Bison's source of power, the Psycho Drive, must be destroyed. Chun-Li then appears and informs them that the bombardment has been called off, surmising that Bison has somehow used his influence to avert the air strike. She goes on to tell them that she has set explosives in an attempt to destroy the base, but is unsure if they'll be enough. As she rushes to escape, Charlie and Guile decide to set explosives around the Psycho Drive to ensure that if nothing else, it at least will be destroyed.

As they set their charges, M. Bison fought with Ryu and his allies in an epic battle. In the end, Ryu defeated him, destroying his body temporarily and forcing M. Bison to regenerate in the Psycho Drive. Bison successfully regenerated his body then Charlie convinces Guile to escape while he holds Bison off, and Guile escaped right before the base explodes, with Charlie and Bison presumably caught in the blast. Chun-Li and Ryu eventually find Guile standing on a mountain, and Chun-Li says that Charlie may perhaps be alive somewhere, just as she believes that her father may be. Guile agrees, and says that he will continue to believe in Charlie.

Song: Star Spangled Battlers

The expansive deck of the Carrier Byron Taylor was bathed in warm sunlight, streaks of white clouds lazily drifting across the clear blue sky. The vessel, a pinnacle of modern air combat technology, sat majestically on the calm waters. Major Guile, a distinguished street fighter and military pilot, was stationed on the carrier, overseeing its operations and preparing for any potential threats.

Major Guile stood tall in front of his fellow flyers, addressing them with authority.

"Alright, men, attention! We've got a real special guest coming in today. In just a few moments, none other than Captain America himself will be joining us right here on this very aircraft carrier."

The men stood at attention, each one filled with excitement and awe. Captain America was a legend, an icon of justice and bravery. To meet him in person was an honor few could ever dream of.

"Now, I know you're all excited to meet Captain America. However, I still expect you all to give him the upmost respect. So don't stand around gawking like a bunch of schoolgirls. Do I make myself clear?!"

The men nodded in understanding and agreement, their faces stern and disciplined. They were all eager to meet Captain America, but at the same time, they knew they had to maintain their professionalism and respect his presence.

"Good. Now, when Captain America arrives, I want each of you to be on your best behavior. I don't want any funny business or any disrespectful behavior. Is that understood?"

"Yes, sir!" the men shouted in unison, expressing their affirmation. They were a disciplined unit, and they knew the importance of representing the Air Force with honor and integrity.

The sound of a helicopter echoed through the air, announcing the arrival of their special guest. Everyone watched as the aircraft approached the carrier, its side door sliding open, revealing Captain America himself. With grace and precision, he leaped from the chopper, performing a perfect three-point landing on the deck below. In his hand, he held his iconic shield, the star symbol catching the sunlight and gleaming brilliantly.

Captain America stood up with a firm and resolute demeanor, placing his shield on his back. He approached Major Guile, offering a crisp salute to the Air Force officer.

"Major."

Steve said, his voice authoritative, but not without sincere friendliness. Guile returned the salute with a firm and steady gesture.

"Captain,"

He replied respectfully.

"It's an honor to have you on board. I trust your flight went smoothly?"

Steve nodded, adjusting his uniform. He looked around, taking in the impressive sight of the carrier.

"Yes, the flight was smooth as silk, thank you."This is quite the ship you have here. May not be able to fly like the Helicarrier, but it's still one of the best I've seen."

Guile chuckled slightly at the comparison, but he still appreciated the compliment.

"Well, we may not have a flying fortress like the Helicarrier, but this ship is the pride and joy of the US Air Force. It's equipped with the latest technology and can launch and recover a wide range of aircraft. It's a force to be reckoned with, I can assure you. Now, to what do I owe this pleasure of you paying a visit?"

Steve's expression grew slightly serious as he responded.

"There's actually a matter I need to discuss with you. I hear you're particularly familiar with an organization I'm trying to track down. Does Shadaloo ring a bell?"

Guile's eyes narrowed, a look of recognition flashing in his gaze. He crossed his arms and his expression grew serious.

"Shadaloo. Yeah, I know them. They're a dangerous bunch. International crime syndicate, heavily involved in arms dealing, trafficking, and god knows what else. They disbanded when M. Bison died last year. If you're here for my expertise, they must still be in operation somehow."

Steve nodded, a grim determination in his eyes.

"You're right. We recently received intel indicating that Shadaloo has not only survived, but is rebuilding. And we're not just talking about a few stragglers trying to keep the organization alive. They're gathering strength and resources. We have reason to believe they're planning something big. And we need to stop them before it's too late."

Guile's expression grew more solemn, reflecting the severity of the situation. He'd heard similar rumors before, but hearing it straight from Captain America, it became clear just how real the threat was.

"Alright, Cap. I'm in. Shadaloo's been a thorn in my side for years, and I'm more than willing to lend a hand in taking them down for good."

Steve's stern expression softened slightly, appreciating Guile's commitment.

"Good. It's not going to be easy, but your experience and knowledge will be invaluable. But before we get down to business, could you perhaps spare the time for a friendly spar? From rumors I've heard, your physical capabilities and combat skills are as impressive as mine, and all without a super soldier serum to make you into one."

Guile's face broke into a sly smile, his competitive spirit flaring up.

"You've heard right, Cap. I guess word does get around. But I'm always up for a good fight. And sparring with Captain America himself? That's an offer I can't pass up. Let's see who truly comes out on top, super serum or good ol' fashioned martial arts."

Guile took out his comb, combing his blonde hair into style before putting it back. Steve chuckled at Guile's gesture, amused by his attention to his hair.

"Looks like I've challenged a man as serious about his appearance as he is about his fighting."

He then assumed a loose, ready stance, holding his hands in front of him.

"All right, Major. Let's see what you've got."

Guile's smile widened, the challenge sparking something in him.

"You're on, Cap."

He mirrored Steve's stance, his hands held up in a defensive position. The air was thick with anticipation as the surrounding men watched Guile and Steve circle each other. The soldiers, pilots and mechanics held their breaths, keenly observing the two as they waited for the first move. Guile's gaze never wavered, his mind focused on the upcoming bout. He was in his element now, a competitive fire burning in his eyes.

Guile made the first move, charging forward with a spinning attack, delivering three swift kicks in quick succession. However, Steve proved to be just as agile and resilient, blocking each kick with his arms. Although he was pushed back by the force of Guile's attacks, he maintained his footing, demonstrating his quick reflexes and durability.

Guile continued his onslaught, throwing a rapid series of punches, each one packed with power and determination. However, Steve evaded each strike with minimal movement, his speed and agility making it look almost effortless. Despite the strength behind Guile's attacks, Steve's movements were efficient and economical, conserving his energy while effectively avoiding the blows.

Guile landed a clean kick, hitting Steve in the chest and sending him rolling backwards. Seeing his opening, Guile prepared to unleash his signature "Sonic Boom" attack, his hands crossing in anticipation. However, Captain America reacted swiftly, equipping his shield just in time to absorb the burst of energy with its vibranium alloy. Despite the intense attack, the shield hardly budged, reflecting the toughness of the material. Steve examined his shield with mild amusement, then looked back up at Guile with a playful smirk.

"'Good ol' fashioned martial arts' you said? Didn't teach me that move during my time in the Army."

He stood up and rotated his shoulder a few times, testing his mobility after the impact. Guile smirked back, his eyes gleaming with renewed determination.

"Well, they don't call me a street fighter for nothing. Can't win every fight by playing by the book."

He adjusted his stance, ready for the next exchange.

"Fair enough."

Steve agreed, flinging his shield towards Guile. The Major ducked under the flying disc, charging forward to counterattack. However, the shield hit a guard rail and ricocheted back, hitting Guile from behind. The surprise impact threw him off course, and Steve took advantage of the moment, leaping over him and executing a spinning flip before kicking Guile, causing him to land on his front. Captain America then landed gracefully on his feet, shield in hand. Guile laughed lightly, pushing himself back up and running his fingers through his hair, fixing it back into the iconic style.

"I expected nothing less from a fellow soldier like you."

The surrounding soldiers watched with excitement and anticipation, their faces filled with awe at the display of the two warrior's abilities and tactical prowess. Steve smirked, clearly enjoying the fight.

"Gotta admit, you're pretty tough for a street fighting Major. Most people would've been knocked out by now from that."

He shifted his stance, a hint of respect in his eyes. Guile chuckled, his spirits still high despite the previous hit.

"And you're pretty agile for a super soldier. I've fought a lot of tough opponents, but none quite like you, Cap."

He readied himself for the next move, his competitive spirit undeterred. He had a feeling the real challenge was yet to come. Guile pressed forward with a lunging punch, aiming to catch Steve off guard. However, Steve quickly reacted, spinning and delivering a swift kick to Guile's face with precise timing. Instead of falling back this time, Guile rolled backwards, regaining his footing and retaliating with a Sonic Boom, the energy blast once again deflected by Steve's shield. The soldiers around them watched in awe as the two warriors continued their intense exchange.

Guile landed a solid punch on Steve's jaw, causing the Captain to spin with the force of the hit. However, Steve swiftly counterattacked, using the momentum to elbow Guile in the face. But even this didn't deter the Major, as he spun with the momentum as well, delivering a reverse back knuckle that sent Steve flying backwards. The Captain hit the deck with a thud, but he quickly got back up, showing admirable resilience and determination.

Guile launched another Sonic Boom attack, but Captain America dashed forward with his shield, absorbing the wave of energy and using the momentum to barrel into Guile. The force of the impact sent the Major stumbling backwards, his feet sliding across the deck from the sheer power of the charge. Captain America attempted to follow through with another strike, swinging his shield arm, but Guile seized the opportunity and grabbed onto his arm and uniform. With a swift and powerful move, Guile executed a Judo throw, slamming the Captain onto the ground and taking him by surprise.

Despite being thrown onto the ground, Steve quickly recovered and punched Guile to create distance, regaining his footing. Guile instinctively raised his arms to block an incoming punch, but this left him vulnerable. Captain America saw his chance and delivered a swift uppercut, catching the Major completely off guard and sending him flying into the air.

Despite the pain, Guile pushed through and managed to get back to his feet, shaking off the soreness. Captain America charged again with his shield, but this time, Guile didn't back down. He planted his feet firmly, determined to withstand the impact. As the shield came his direction, Guile halted Cap's charge, and executed another reverse back knuckle, delivering a powerful blow that forced Steve to recoil.

Guile executed a graceful backflip, sending Captain America flying into the air. Landing back on his feet, he crossed his arms and unleashed another Sonic Boom, this time connecting the blow. The energy burst hit Steve in the back, sending him rolling across the deck. The surrounding soldiers gasped at the sight, clearly impressed by the Major's skill and power. Steve struggled to get back to his feet, but before he could, Guile channeled his chi, generating powerful winds around him. the Major yelled with power,

"Sonic Tempest"

He used his ultimate technique, sending a massive disc of ki power straight towards Captain America. Steve attempted to block the attack with his shield, but the force was overwhelming. He was enveloped in an explosion created by the impact, the entire area filled with smoke and debris. Everyone around, including the spectators, was left in awe at the display of power and skill from the Major. Guile grinned confidently, giving a thumbs up to his men, proud of his performance. However, just as he felt the adrenaline from the fight, he heard rapid footsteps approaching. Out of the smoke appeared Captain America, charging forward with determination. Guile tried to keep him at bay with a rapidfire barrage of Sonic Booms, but the Captain showed impressive agility, dodging the attacks with ease. Before Guile could react, Captain America lunged forward and bashed his shield into him.

Despite being sent crashing to his back, Guile demonstrated impressive agility and flexibility, swiftly getting back up onto his feet. Captain America attempted to catch Guile off guard by throwing his shield, but the Major reacted quickly, counterattacking with a backflip kick, sending the shield flying up into the air. Steve leaped up to catch the shield and prepared to strike with a powerful dive kick, which Guile blocked, his reflexes and skill on full display.

Guile went for a punch, aiming to hit Captain America, but the Captain swiftly blocked the attack with his shield. Guile recoiled, wincing in pain as he withdrew his hand. In a clever move, Steve threw his shield, allowing it to ricochet off several surfaces - the walls and planes nearby - before striking multiple pressure points on Guile's body. This left the Major weakened and vulnerable in intense pain to a powerful strike from the shield to his back.

Steve caught his shield and, with a final, decisive blow, struck Guile in the face, the impact knocking the Major unconscious and causing him to crumple to the deck. The pilots and mechanics observing the fight were left in disbelief, their expressions reflecting their shock and admiration for Captain America's strength and prowess.

Steve knelt down next to the Major, hoping he was okay.

"You alright, Major?"

Guile groaned, slowly opening his eyes and regaining consciousness. He moved gingerly, taking a moment to assess his condition. He grunted, wincing slightly from the pain before responding.

"I've been better. Whew. Damn, couldn't have expected more from you, you're as good as they say then."

Steve chuckled, a mix of pride and modesty in his voice. He offered a hand to help Guile up.

"You're not too bad yourself. Despite not having a serum coursing through you, you kept up just fine. I can admire that kind of skill without needing a drug to get you there, Major."

Guile took the offered hand and managed a small grin, hoisting himself up on his feet. He dusted himself off, a little embarrassed at his loss but taking the compliment in stride.

"Thanks, Cap. But I gotta admit, the way you use your shield was something else. Certainly not used to anything like it."

Steve chuckled at Guile's remark, shrugging almost humbly.

"Comes with the job, I guess. The shield is more than just a piece of equipment, it's an extension of my training and instincts. Took a while to get used to using it, but now it's like breathing, I suppose. Anyway, once you're ready, let's talk about Shadaloo. Once we find them, we can ambush them."

Guile nodded, his expression serious now. Despite his defeat, he was still determined to confront and take down Shadaloo.

"Sounds good, Cap. Let's do it. Just give me a moment to catch my breath, and we'll start planning. I have some friends who wouldn't mind joining the fight."

Strength: Guile displays a level of strength that can certainly rival Steve, even with the serum. The Major is comparable to Chun-Li, who stopped a runaway car with the force of 18.34 tons of force. However, Captain America is comparable to the Wolverine, both of whom are strong enough to tear steel apart with just their bare hands. But even if Guile had the clear strength advantage, Cap could take this hits well himself, or use his shield to tank any blows he needed to.

Speed: Guile was once able to dodge a point blank spear through in the span of 0.175 seconds. Given an estimated distance of 10 feet in between, Guile must've dodged with a reaction speed of nearly 40 mph. And he's likely many times faster, given that characters of Guile and Chun-Li's caliber is fast enough to dodge bullets. But not only has Steve dodged gunfire more consistently, he's able to throw his shield faster than a missile, block Electro's lightning that likely travels as high as Mach 358, and has tagged heroes faster than Guile like Daredevil, Spider-Man and Iron Fist.

Skill: As skilled as a street fighter Guile is with intensive military training, Captain America is proficient with all the world's martial arts. There's not really any comparison here.

Experience: Here's the thing with Street Fighter. By keeping itself mostly to street levels, this limits Guile to such levels where Steve has fought monsters, gods and beyond, and survive.

Powers: Guile's Sonic Boom will be an initial surprise, but aside from that, Guile doesn't really have anything that Captain America wouldn't see coming, given their shared military practices. And Guile had no means of getting through the shield, or disarming him for long.

The winner is Captain America.

Next time:

"You see, I'm perfect, my strength is perfect, and with that I shall bring equally perfect destruction through the rest of the universe."

"Have I finally become it? The symbol of fear that brings all heroes to despair... Absolute Evil."
