Milly POV
It took more than expected, but finally, all the members of the student council were present. It almost seemed like they were trying to postpone the inevitable, but today they would be adding a new member.
Kallen POV
Kallen was calm, almost happy. The lesson was strangely interesting; she would have never imagined things like...
Milly entered the classroom, asking the teacher if she could take Kallen away, the man agreed, "Huh?". Everything happened much faster than the red-haired girl could process. She found herself being dragged around the school.
"S-Sorry Milly, where are we going?" she said, hoping to remember the blonde girl's name correctly.
Without slowing down, Milly asked, "You're not part of any club, right?".
"Y-Yes, my health doesn't allow me".
"Unfortunately, it's mandatory at Ashford to be part of a club" she said as they entered a room she had never seen.
"But don't worry, the council doesn't need you to be present all the time" Inside the room, she could see the council members organizing a party.
Noticing Kallen Rivalz shouted, "Welcome to the council!" Kallen's mind stopped working for a few seconds before the members introduced themselves.
Rivalz continuing smiling said "I'm Rivalz, the secretary.
If there's anything you need to help with, I'm your man".
Nina "Hi there, my name's Nina".
Kallen regained her composure and said "It's nice to meet all of you".
Nunnally "Shirley, I'm sorry but, do you think you could set these on the table for me"
Kallen turned toward the entrance door to see a girl with orange hair and a child in a wheelchair entering the room.
Shirley "Hi, I'm Shirley. And I'm a member of the swim club. Welcome".
Milly pointed at the girl in the wheelchair "This is Lelouch's sister".
Ok, so Lelocuh has a little sister, if not for Milly Kallen would have never guessed. She looked at her and then toward Lelouch to see any resemblance, to her surprise Lelouch looked kinda pissed.
Nunnally "I'm still in the middle school group, so I can't be on the council yet".
Rivalz "That's alright. You're an honorary member in our book".
Nunnally "Hello there, it's a pleasure to meet you, Kallen".
Kallen "Thank you. You as well".
Rivalz "Right. Shall we kick this off with a toast".
Shirley "Champagne?".
Nina "Yeah, but we're on the student council, we shouldn't…".
Rivalz" Uh, come on! Just relax. Loosen up, you guys! It's sparkling cider".
Shirley"No way. We're gonna get in trouble! Let me see that bottle".
Nunnally"What's going on?".
"Here, Nunnally "Milly said before giving Nunnaly something to drink.
"Lelouch! Heads up!" Rivalz said before launching the bottle to Lelouch.
Shirley "You aren't getting well with it either, Lulu… C'mon, Lelu! Let me see that bottle!".
That was the last thing Kalled heard before the bottle opened and fell all over her clothes. (CANON EVENT)
Nunnally "What just happened?".
Milly "We have clothes for her?".
Shirley "Sayoko's on it".
Lelouch POV
Lelouch was sure, someone was spying on him, He suspected there was someone even during his match with that noble a week ago, but this time He was sure, whoever it was had some decent skill, but definitely not a professional, for a moment he thought it might be Rivalz, after all he knew that today he would have bet, but the boy steps was definitely louder.
Lelouch spent the last 20 minutes trying to make his pursuer make a misstep, but he knew how not to be seen, and now he risked arriving late, Lelouch reached the station, bought two tickets, and got on a train at the last second, the man who was following him managed to get in the train just before the doors closed, Lelouch whirled around grabbing the ma... the woman by the shoulder "Kallen?".
Kallen POV
It was at this moment that she knew, she f*cked up.
Lelouch asked with an angry voice and pressing her shoulder "Why are you following me?".
Kallen was speechless, didn't expect to be caught, and was now looking for an excuse "Well... emm... I was just...".
Lelouch interrupted her unleashing her shoulder and looking directly in her eye "I want the truth".
Lelouch looked like a totally different person, his gaze even scared her a little, Kallen valued her option, lying seemed pointless "I know you gamble, I was worried, you know how dangerous it is?".
This broke the tension "Really? And do you think you can protect me?"
A good question, she could talk to him about Naoto and Ohgi and the other and how they could actually defend him, or...
"I have seen you during the PE class, you are terrible".
Lelouch, visibly annoyed responded "Says the one who doesn't even participate".
Before this could continue two men approached them.
"Are you Mr. Spacer".
Lelouch responded almost instantly "Yes".
The second man asked "Is she with you?".
Before Lelouch could respond Kallen said "Yes, i'm with him" Lelouch decided to go along with it and stayed quiet.
"Follow us".
The two men brought them to an old Japanese house probably built before the war.
Kallen's phone started ringing.
One of the two men exclaimed "No Phone, I'm sure you knew that" the man said before taking her phone and destroying it.
"Now enter".
The man inside greets them not very politely "It's an honor MR Spenser, I thought I thought somebody with your fame to be older".
Kallen already wanted to punch the guy.
Lelouch responded "Age it's not everything old man, should we start".
The game started.
A long time later...
Kallen almost regretted coming, she barely knew how the game worked, the last 40 minutes could be summed up in 3 points:
1:Lelouch maintains silence and a poker face.
2:Kallen is trying not to yawn.
3:The nobleman keeps a pissed-off face for most of the game.
And his time was running out, finally.
While bored to death the girl noticed something, for the whole game Lelouch wasn't concentrating, he barely looked at the pieces, bored probably, not as much as she was, but still it was strange, when someone bets that much you would expect him to be excited, scared or at least interested.
Lelouch smiled while moving his rook for the last time "Checkmate".
The nobleman was furious "How dare you! Jonh, Rick, teach these brats some discipline".
Lelouch POV
Everything was going wrong, Lelouch looked at Kallen feeling guilty, 'she followed me, but still...' Another person would have been hurt because he doesn't have the power, because he is too weak.
The men were about to start beating them when the door flew open, the guards turned, the first was knocked out by a punch from a man with red hair, the second tried to take the gun but he was too slow, a man with black hair threw himself at him, sliding the gun away to the feet of the nobleman, who took it and pointed it towards Lelouch, there was nowhere to hide, but before he could shoot he received a punch from Kallen?! Causing him to pass out.
Lelouch was shocked, it had all happened too fast, and a thousand thoughts were swirling through his mind.
"Are you guys okay?".
Lelouch looked away from Kallen and stared at the two men, he had seen them before, he knew their faces, but from where?
"We're fine" Kallen said, Lelouch turned back to the girl and realized, he had seen a photo with the three people in the room while they were doing the school project.
"Kallen, they are friends of yours?" Lelouch asked seeking confirmation.
Kallen seems surprised by the question "Yes, My brother Naoto and Ohgi".
Lelouch calmed down, now they were out of danger "Nice to meet you, my name is Lelouch Lamperouge".
Oghi was about to answer, but was interrupted by Naoto "Let's go, we will have time to talk later, the Japanese who run this ghetto don't like the people of Britannia".
The 4 left the building, in front of which there was a car. "Get in" Naoto said, getting into the driver's seat.
A few minutes passed in silence before Naoto broke the silence "Lelouch, can I ask you a question? Are you an idiot or do you just want to die?"
Lelouch was surprised, and a little offended by the question, he was about to answer, but Naoto didn't give him time "Coming, alone, to this place, to bet large amounts of money with strangers and apparently without an escape plan".
Lelouch was starting to get angry "WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE..."
Naoto brakes suddenly pointing the gun at Lelouch's face, and before Kallen or Oghi can stop him, he clicks the trigger.
Lelouch's heart stopped for a second, he thought he was going to die, to leave Nunnaly alone, but the gun was empty.
Naoto "See? It's so easy to die".
Naoto started started driving again.
Naoto "Tell me, Lelouch, do you have sisters or brothers, anyone dear?".
Lelouch was still recovering, but managed to say "A little sister".
Naoto "And what would you do for her?".
Lelouch replied without a moment's hesitation "Everything".
Naoto smiled "Then don't die, I'm sure she would tell you the same".
Lelouch calmed down, Naoto was right, but that didn't change that food and medicine had a cost.
Naoto seemed to understand he wasn't convinced "You do all of this for her?".
Lelouch admitted "Yes...".
Naoto sighed "Kallen give him my number, if you want to continue like this at least accept my help".
Lelouch was skeptical, it wouldn't be the first time someone betrayed him.
Ohgi noticed it and replied in a reassuring tone "Don't worry, you can trust us, we know how the ghettos work"
Naoto added whit joking "And if we wanted to kill you we would have already done it"
Lelouch smiled a little, this man was something "Okay, I give up, I'll trust you".
Lelouch however was curious to know two things "How did you know where we were?".
Kallen smiled "You should thank me" Apart from the broken cell phone and the fact that Lelouch had discovered her, everything had gone according to plan "I called Naoto telling him I was following you and that he would have to call every 15 minutes if I answered and hung up after 10 seconds everything would have been fine, otherwise they would have reached me through the location of my cell phone".
Lelouch "I see, hey Kallen I have another question, why are you pretending to be sick?".
Kallen was fairly surprised by the question "Ummm... why do you think I'm faking it?".
Lelouch "I've been to your house and you don't keep medicine around, you're too fit for someone who can't even train, you have fighting skills and...".
Kallen "Ok ok, you're right", the girl seemed unsure whether to tell him the truth or just stay quiet.
Naoto decided for her "It's my fault".
Kallen "It's not true".
Naoto "I abandoned the Stadtfeld name, I live with the Japanese, Kallen didn't want to interrupt our contacts but we needed an excuse to justify her absence. An excuse which, I know she abuses".
Kallen "Come on! I don't need to go to that place, I still have very high grades".
Naoto "You're hopeless".
Kallen "Lelouch, can I trust this to stay between us, right?".
Lelouch had no reason to object "Of course, after all you saved me today, it will remain our secret".
Kallen seemed satisfied with the answer.
Some minutes later...
Naoto "We've arrived"
Lelouch "Thanks for the help today", he got out of the car and took a few steps away, but was stopped by Naoto.
Naoto "Lelouch I have a favor to ask of you".
Lelouch confused asked "What?".
Naoto "I would like you to help Kallen fit in Ashford, I would like... if anything were to happen to Shinjuku, to us, I want her to have another place to call home and friends.".
Lelouch was surprised by this request, but he suppose he owe the man a favor "I...I can try".
Naoto smiled "Thank you, take care of yourself, and don't do anything stupid".
Naoto gets back into the car and leaves.
Another place to call home? He had never seen Ashford like this, they had been used to running away and being betrayed for so much that he had stopped thinking about such things.
