3 days later
Lelouch POV
Today was a good day, nothing strange happened, good weather, the P.E. teacher was absent and Milly was too busy to annoy him, everything was going smoothly. At the sound of the last bell, Lelouch got up to go home, but before he could leave the classroom Kallen reached him.
Kallen "Hey Lelouch, are you busy today?".
Lelouch was going to say yes; normally, he would return home and spend some time with Nunnally, but today the little girl had a group project and Sayoko would take care of her. He was tempted to say yes anyway, but his curiosity prevented him from doing so.
Lelouch "No, why?".
Kallen "There is some work to do at the Ghetto. Since you are coming here often, it would be beneficial if people started to know you".
Lelouch pondered for a few seconds, but in the end, Kallen was not wrong. It would also be an opportunity to gather information. Something about Naoto and his friends didn't convince him; he was sure they weren't simple citizens, probably some kind of rebel if he had to take a guess. But while Lelouch had a good impression until now, he was still cautious.
Lelouch "Very well, but don't expect much help from me with the heavy lifting".
Kallen smiled "Don't worry, I was not expecting anything like that from you".
Lelouch was already regretting it.
1 hour later at Shinjuku
Kallen POV
Kallen was a bit surprised when Naoto told her that Tamaki would help them. One of the reasons why her brother permitted her to help was the lack of people to do the job (everyone was assigned to a part of the Ghetto). Distributing food and medicine to people was a simple job, but Shinjuku was big and a helping hand to finish quickly was never refused. This was one of the reasons why she asked Lelouch to come. The other reason was to have a little bit of company. Lelouch might not always be the funniest guy (still better than most), but Kallen started to trust him a little bit in the last weeks, and passing the whole afternoon walking alone back and forth was not exactly her ideal day.
Tamaki meets up with them before greeting her.
Tamaki "Hi Kallen" (He then looked at Lelouch) "So you are the mighty student of Britannia. We are not at Ashford, so you better do as I say".
Lelouch looked a little pissed by this.
Kallen "Stop with this crap, Tamaki. We have work to do".
Tamaki reluctantly listened and started walking toward the crate full of food.
Tamaki "Don't take him too seriously. He may be an idiot, but he isn't a bad person".
Lelouch "If you say so".
Initially, Kallen was a bit worried about the situation, but as time passed, Lelouch seemed to start enjoying annoying the man. She had to admit that some of Tamaki's over-exaggerated reactions seemed like they were taken from a comedy movie. At one point, even Tamaki himself seemed to have started enjoying it. Initially, he probably thought Lelouch was serious when he was being a snotty Britannian, but even Tamaki noticed how Lelouch was treating the people. He was extremely caring with elders and children. Even Kallen was a bit surprised; she had already seen this side of Lelouch when he was with Nunnally, but only one time and for a brief moment. Kallen probably wouldn't have known her if not for Milly's intervention, for some reason Lelouch seems to hide this part of himself as much as possible.
In the end, all went well, and the sun was starting to set.
Tamaki "Very well, we have finished. You two should go home now or Naoto will not be happy".
Lelouch "Very well, bye blockhead".
Tamaki laughed a bit before going on his way home.
Kallen "You could have done better with this one".
Lelouch "I have already used all the good ideas".
Kallen "Admit it, you are just too lazy".
Lelouch "If you say so, Q1".
Kallen was too tired for these games.
Naoto POV
Naoto "So, how did he behave?".
Tamaki admitted "Pretty well, I think... he is ok".
Naoto was almost surprised by this response. Tamaki did not see with a good eye anything or anyone from Britannia.
Naoto "I see... tell me more".
