Chapter 6

Rukia was confused, scared, and pissed. Confused because she had no idea what she did to Yumi to have her hold a knife to her throat. She was scared because she had a knife to her throat and she didn't know what to do, afraid to scream for help. Pissed because had she not been held at knifepoint she would have beat Yumi's ass. Yumi was breathing hard as she held the knife to Rukia's neck. She was wearing her school uniform and she looked like a wild animal ready to pounce on its prey. Rukia said nothing as she watched Yumi waiting for her next move; she didn't want to push her off, afraid she'd get cut or worse. It felt like hours as Yumi looked at her and she looked at Yumi. Finally Yumi decided to speak in a hushed tone.

"Why did you try to poison me?" Rukia was now extremely confused. Rukia was about to speak but Yumi pressed the knife closer to her neck causing her to immediately stop her mouth.

"Scream and I'll slit your throat, understand?"

Rukia scolded but nodded in understanding. She beckoned for Rukia to answer and Rukia took a deep breath before speaking.

"I don't understand what you mean."

Yumi huffed, "The muffin and pills at my door this morning. What was all that about? Did Ichigo set you up to do this?"

Rukia wanted to laugh if she didn't fear for her throat. She couldn't believe Yumi was actually paranoid that someone was actually trying to kill her. Rukia put her hands up in a surrendering motion. Yumi squinted her eyes in suspicion but let up giving Rukia some breathing room. The knife was still in close range of her to be a danger.

"I made blueberry muffins for my sister who works and lives here in Seireitei and I wanted to surprise her. I made a lot and shared them with people. I saw you yesterday and assumed you would have another hangover thus the aspirin and water. I didn't think you ate much since you never have breakfast so I decided to give you a muffin. I have no reason to poison you or anyone." Rukia explained.

Yumi let go of Rukia completely. She was red from embarrassment. She dropped the knife and held her hands up.

"I'm sorry I thought you were trying to poison me. I-I-I.."

Yumi started breathing fast and heavy, clenching her chest as if she was in pain. She looked red like a tomato and was sweating hard. Rukia knew what was happening. Shizuku used to have numerous panic attacks and she knew Yumi was having an attack. Rukia did the only thing she knew how to do, she walked up to Yumi as if she was Shizuku and grabbed his head and laid it on her shoulder and said what she would say to Shizuku.

"You are so brave to be dealing with so much. We are so proud of you, relax your body and mind and know I am here for you. I love you, no need to panic."

She rocked back and forth as if she was on autopilot and rubbed Yumi's back soothingly and hummed a song she remembered her mother humming to her when she was a kid. Her aunt would hum it from time to time and memories would just flood her. She felt Yumi shaking and walked her to the bed. She sat Yumi down and saw as tears poured down her face. Rukia wiped them and went back to holding her and rubbing her back soothingly. Yumi and Rukia stayed in that position for ten minutes until Yumi finally calmed down and was able to move. She pushed Rukia away from her and shook her head frantically as she ran out of the room.

Rukia was stunned to say the least. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to check and see if she was okay but her gut told her to leave it. Rukia decided to get out of the house and visit her family in Karakura town. She said her goodbyes and grabbed her usual car and drove to Karakura. It took her exactly an hour to get there. She was excited to see her family. She parked in front of her aunt's house and smiled. She was a bit surprised to see Homura with a bat in her hand scolding at the car. Rukia knew she probably couldn't see her due to the tinted windows. Rukia cut the car off and got out revealing her face. Homura dropped the bat and ran to hug Rukia tightly.

"Holy shit sorry we didn't recognize the car, it kind of freaked Shizuku out."

Homura led Rukia into the house and everything was exactly the same. It was still dimmed and cold inside of the house. Rukia was tackled by her aunt and Shizuku gave her a big hug. She hugged them back happily and sat on the couch.

"How is the job!?" Shriyaku asked.

Rukia told her family the whole story. How Ichigo had three kids and he didn't acknowledge the oldest Yumi. She told them about Mia and how Hana was albino. Shirayuki perked up a bit wanting to know more about Hana. Rukia went into detail about how Mia protected Hana and how they were sweethearts. She told them about Oko and Ran'Tao and how they were cool in their own way. She told them about Ichigo and how he was a cool boss. After all that she told them about the incident this morning with Yumi. Shirayuki and Homura both stood up while Shizuku was stunned to say anything. Her aunt and sister immediately asked for Ichigo's number. Rukia told them to calm down and finished telling them about the altercation and how she had a panic attack.

"I think she has trauma and I think she acted out in fear. I'm going to leave it alone. I don't want her to be scared. Also, she didn't hurt me." Rukia stated.

Homura stared at her sister for a good minute. She thought about what she wanted to say but couldn't get the words she wanted to say out in a nice way.

"Are you stupid? You were held at knife point and you're telling me it's all fine and dandy?" Homura screeched.

Rukia frowned, "You didn't see what I saw, she was a helpless child…Shizuku can you get me some water please? I am parched."

Shizuku nodded and ran for the kitchen to get his sister some water. Rukia made sure he was out of earshot where he wouldn't be able to hear her speak. Rukia then turned to her sister and aunt and sighed heavily.

"She reminded me of when Shizuku wanted to kill himself. The panic attacks he went through and his anxiety. She reminded me of Shizuku when he was going through all that."

Homura and her aunt were stumped on what to say. Shizuku came from the kitchen and gave Rukia a lemonade instead of water. He knew Rukia would rather have lemonade or iced tea instead of water. Rukia thanked him and sipped on the lemonade.

"So then what did I miss?" Shizuku asked.

Homura huffed, "Rukia has decided she is going to keep us posted about the whole Yumi thing."

"Yes Rukia will update us everyday just so we can make sure she is safe." Shirayuki added.

Rukia gave a glare for a moment but then nodded. Shizuku smiled and then asked Rukia if she could make them some pastries. Rukia shook her head saying she wouldn't be able to and that she would have to leave soon. It hurt Shizuku a bit. He wasn't used to not having Rukia around alot. He had just gotten used to Hisana not coming over much anymore and it was hard for him to deal with Rukia not being close to him as well.

"But we can get ice cream before I have to head out and I'm driving."

Homura and Shizuku ran to change into something comfortable. Rukia smiled and looked as her aunt frowned at her. Her aunt always had a smile on her face when around her nieces and nephew she rarely ever frowned around them.

"I want you to understand something. If I feel like you are in danger or you are not safe around this Kurosaki man or his family. I will not hesitate to get the police involved. I will not have you in danger for some job." Shirayuki stated.

Rukia nodded in understanding. Homura and Shizuku came running back cheering, shouting for ice cream. Rukia asked if her aunt was coming to which she just shook her head. She hugged them all and told them she loved each one of them. Rukia was hesitant to leave her aunt alone to her thoughts but knew she was a grown woman and could make her decisions. Rukia drove her sister and brother to the nearest ice cream parlor and got out with them happily. They ordered the same thing. Three scoop ice cream flavored with chocolate, strawberry, along with cookies and cream. They sat in a booth faraway from others and started chit chatting. Rukia asked them about school and Homura groaned.

"Ugh fuck my roommate. She is so annoying and her friend came over and guess what she was annoying. Oh but classes are fine I'm passing with a B whoopie."

Shizuku grinned, "Well I'm doing good. School is nice. I'm making A's." He looked at Homura with a cocky smile. "And I'm working on a game with my group for a project."

Rukia clapped, "Oh wow you two are doing amazing things. I would make C's and Hisana would barely pass. So you two are the smart ones in the family."

Homura chuckled as she bit into her ice cream. Shizuku and Rukia simply licked their ice cream shaking their heads as Homura happily ate her ice cream. They sat in a comfortable silence for a while. They got another ice cream for their aunt and then headed out. It was time for Rukia to head back. Rukia noticed that her sister and brother were a bit upset as she drove them home. They were hesitant when they got back to their aunts house. Rukia sighed and stopped her siblings. She gave a small smile and asked if they would want to sleep over at Hisana's place on the weekend. They all knew Byakuya was gone on weekends on business trips so it would be awesome for them to sleep over. Their eyes widened as they all cheered happily. It was nice to have sibling time anyways. Rukia left to head back to Seireitei. It took her an hour before she got there. When she got to the house mansion that she now resided in, the security guys stopped her. It was hitting four and she was sure the girls were already home. The guys were asking Rukia if she needed anything before they left. Rukia was confused; they usually left around ten.

"Why are you guys leaving so early?"

Tsukune smiled, "Shiro and Karin are here no need for us."

Rukia gave a questioning look, "Who?"

Uhoh Rukia hasn't met the hell spawns yet. You can spend the night at my place while they're here." Takoa stated.

Tsukune grabbed Rukia and stuck his tongue out, "Fuck you she would be coming home with me."

Rukia rolled her eyes as Tsukune and Takoa fought over her. Kamado decided to rescue her and explained that Shiro was Ichigo's twin brother and he was volatile and Karin is the hot headed silent sister. Rukia thanked Kamado for the explanation. They asked if she needed to be escorted in but she just waved them off telling them she was a big girl. Tsukune hugged Rukia goodbye whereas Takoa gave Rukia a tight hug. Mizaki and Ginei fist pumped Rukia and Fang gave a nod and Kamado patted Rukia's shoulder. All in all the security guys all said goodnight and left. Rukia waved goodbye and then walked into the house. She was greeted by a dark and quiet house. It was eerily quiet and it kind of freaked Rukia out. She was tempted to ask one of the guys to come back and walk her to her room. She took a deep breath and started walking to the elevator to get to her room. What felt like hours she finally made it to the elevator only to feel something behind her. She knew she wouldn't survive in a horror movie because she screamed and pushed whatever it was behind her and started frantically running away. She made it to the front door only to be greeted by Oko turning the lights on and looking at her amusingly. Rukia's heart was beating a mile a minute.

"Shiro, that was incredibly rude and immature." Oko stated.

Rukia caught her breath and turned to see a pale copy of Ichigo. Gone was the peach tan replaced with pasty white skin. No honey amber eyes no now they were golden yellow. The copy was wearing black nail polish and had a blue lollipop in his mouth. He was smiling like a sadistic animal watching its meal before attacking. It frightened Rukia a bit. Oko sighed and turned to Rukia.

"Rukia, this is Shiro Kurosaki, he is Ichigo's twin if you couldn't tell. Shiro, this is Rukia, the new nanny." Oko introduced.

Shiro scuffed, "This girl is watching my precious nieces. I won't have it."

Rukia didn't know what to say. She wanted to defend herself but everything in her was telling her to shut up. The guy screamed killer and she wouldn't be surprised if this guy killed someone before. Didn't help that the guy was wearing all black as if he was about to go on a hit.

"Wait a minute…you look familiar. Aren't you fucking that Kuchiki guy."

Rukia's eyes widened, "No! That is my sister don't talk about her like that."

"Oh twins I see?"

Rukia huffed, "No we're just sisters."

"Shiro, leave her alone!"

Rukia looked and saw a black haired girl with dark eyes. Her hair was in a messy bun. She was wearing a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt with a star on it. She was short but taller than Rukia was. She was scowling at Shiro and rolling her eyes.

"Rukia, this is Karin Kurosaki, she is the youngest sister of the family. Karin this is Rukia, she is the girl's new nanny."

Rukia bowed and Karin did the same. Rukia noticed Shiro staring at her intensely and it really freaked her out. Ichigo came out a few minutes later out of nowhere it seems and greeted everyone followed by Ran'Tao. The girls ran downstairs and screamed and hugged Karin and Shiro. Shiro hugged the girls tightly. Rukia wondered if they had eaten yet she wasn't hungry but she did want to make sure the girls had eaten.

"Daddy Yumi isn't home yet we wanted to watch a movie with her." Hana stated.

Ichigo frowned and looked at Rukia, "Rukia if you would be so kind as to take the girls to their room."

Rukia nodded and grabbed the girl's hands. They whined a bit but followed Rukia to their room. They asked if they could watch a cooking show and Rukia nodded. She asked if they had eaten and they nodded. Rukia then gave them baths. She let Mia put Hana creams on and helped them into their pj's. They went to Rukia's room and Rukia turned on a baking show. They excitedly watched as Rukia took herself a quick shower. When she got out the girls were already knocked out. She smiled at the girls and tucked them in. She went downstairs to get herself something to snack on when she was getting out of the elevator when she heard voices in Ichigo's office. She walked a bit down just enough where she could hear the conversation but if someone came out she would be able to scurry away.

"So Ichigo what are we going to do about Yumi?" Karin asked.

Rukia could hear Ichigo sighing, "I don't know."

"Let's kill her. No more Yumi, no more fear of her leaking any real information." Shiro stated.

Rukia's eyes widened and she was scared to move. She was frozen in place. Were they really discussing killing a child?

"That wouldn't be a bad idea." Ran'Tao agreed.

"NO! She is still a child how would you three feel if your father abandoned you and left you to fend for yourself? Ichigo you abandoned Yoshi and then when Yumi showed up you decided to reject her as your own. She is only a child; she doesn't even know if she can trust us." Oko boomed loudly and angrily.

"Woah Oko chill out." Shiro spoke.

"We're not going to kill her Ran'Tao I want you to go to every business tomorrow and see who knows about this information. Karin I need you to look into who started these rumors about our family and deal with them with extreme prejudice. Shiro, anyone who you find spilling this false information I want you to take care of them however you see fit. Oko you're on damage control, gather the leaders and see if this is happening to them as well. Dismissed." Ichigo said with authority.

Rukia quickly snuck up the stairs as everyone was getting ready to leave the office. She cursed herself for not working out much. She was successful and ran back to her room where the girls were still peacefully speaking. Rukia couldn't sleep that night because she was scared out of her wits. Just what did she get herself into when she accepted to be a Nanny?
