Chapter 8

Weeks had gone by and Rukia could admit that she was finally acquainted with the Kurosaki estate. Everyone accepted her more and she even chilled out with the security guards outside of work. She found out that Oko and Ran'Tao were married which went over her head. She caught them making out one night while she was getting a glass of water. Ichigo had noticed how she was staring at them the next day at breakfast and laughed and let out that they were married. It stumped her but hey love is love. For a while Yumi kept her distance as usual but Rukia had noticed that at her door in the mornings she had thank you notes and certain requests for certain goodies.

After a couple of days Yumi came to Rukia's door at three in the morning. It scared Rukia a bit but when she saw a disheveled Yumi she let her in. Yumi had apologized for how she had acted that day with the knife and asked for forgiveness. Rukia saw a broken little girl and couldn't help but hug her. Yumi was hesitant to tell Rukia things but she told her about how her Mother had died and her grandmother had raised her until she died as well. She had no other family and had to search for her Father.

She told Rukia that everyone rejected her and didn't want anything to do with her. Everyone questioned her and thought she was lying, She was only twelve when she sought out Ichigo. She told Rukia Oko was the only one who helped her; he even set up a DNA test for her and Ichigo. When she was confirmed to be his daughter she thought they would rejoice but she said the whole family was cold to her. Rukia listened and couldn't help but feel bad for Yumi no wonder she resented them. After another few weeks Yumi began eating breakfast with everyone. She still glared at Ichigo and Ran'Tao but she was nice to her sisters, Oko, and Rukia. Rukia would notice Ran'Tao seething while Ichigo was indifferent.

It's been nice having Yumi warm up to her. She would visit Rukia's room and watch baking shows with her at one in the morning. Rukia looked forward to those mornings where she and Yumi would just talk. Rukia was happy to be getting situated with the family. She did notice that anytime Shiro was around he would give Rukia very dirty looks. She would ignore them best she could though. It was currently Friday and the ball that Ichigo mentioned was tomorrow. She did not want to go, she hated parties. Hisana invited her and the family out to go shopping together since she was Byakuya's girlfriend she had to dress extravagantly and unfortunately Rukia couldn't not say yes. Rukia decided to take the girls and Yumi as well. When the girls got done with school Rukia chose the usual Volkswagen and met her siblings and aunt at the big expensive mall simply named Seireitei Mall. It was huge; it had five stories compared to the mall in Karakura that only had two stories. When the girls met with Rukia siblings and aunt Hana was immediately drawn to Shirayuki and Shizuku. Shirayuki was immediately drawn to Hana and they went shopping Shizuku following close behind. Homura looked at Mia and chuckled. Mia glared and stuck her tongue out.

"Yeah I'm going to like you come on pip squeak."

Mia huffed, "Don't call me pip squeak you weirdo freak."

The two waved and went to look around different stores. Hisana and Rukia were left with Yumi. Hisana was a blunt woman, she was never one to hold her tongue so when she looked Yumi up and down she couldn't help but ask her a very specific question.

"Are you a lesbian? Or are you trying to look like a guy?" Hisana asked.

Yumi glared, "Excuse me?"

Hisana shrugged, "The short hair, the baggy pants and oversized shirt."

"This is what all the cool girls are wearing, right Rukia?"

Rukia cleared her throat trying to be as nice as she could to not hurt Yumi's feelings.

"Well umm you do dress a bit more masculine than umm normal females. I thought you were a tomboy. Which is a compliment. I wish I was as intimidating as you." Rukia explained.

Yumi looked defeated but Hisana smiled brightly.

"Oh don't you worry Yumi we're going to turn you into a princess tomorrow you'll be the belle of the ball."

Yumi perked up a bit and followed Hisana's lead. She dragged Rukia and Yumi to all kinds of places. She started with a makeup shop where Yumi spent thirty minutes learning how to do her own makeup. Rukia helped her as best she could while Hisana bought makeup pallets for her sister and Yumi. Hisana then dragged the girls to a dress shop where Yumi shook her head and said she would rather wear pants. Hisana gave Yumi a look telling her to let her work. Rukia laughed as Yumi wanted to argue but unlike Rukia who wasn't as upfront Hisana demanded respect. Hisana pushed them into the dress shop and started looking around while Yumi stuck to Rukia like glue.

"Is your sister always like that?" Yumi asked.

Rukia nodded," She's the oldest."

"Hmm she's kind of scary but it's more scary with how you two aren't twins." Yumi stated.

Rukia chuckled as she looked around for a dress. She wasn't looking for anything in particular but definitely nothing too fancy. Hisana shoved a pretty blue silk dress in Yumi's face and told her to try it on. Yumi huffed and went to the dressing room leaving Rukia and Hisana to themselves.

"Sooo how is everything with work?"

Rukia shrugged, "It's alright I'm having fun. Yumi has opened up to me and the girls love me. Everyone at the estate is pretty chill including Ichigo I guess."

"Hmm so umm do you feel safe?" Hisana asked.

Rukia gave Hisana a look, "What do you mean?"

Hisana cleared her throat, "oh you know since Ichigo is a businessman I'm sure he gets threats like Byakuya and I just want to make sure you're safe."

Rukia rolled her eyes, "I'm a Nanny Hisana yeah I get it he's a businessman but come on what real danger could I be in?"

Hisana said nothing and walked to look for other dresses leaving Rukia to wait for Yumi. She frowned, she knew her sister like that back of her hand and knew something was wrong but she knew better than to push it. When Hisana was ready she would tell her what the problem was. Yumi came out a few seconds later and Rukia was flabbergasted. Yumi looked so pretty, the dress was long and flowing. It was made for someone with an hourglass figure which amazingly and surprisingly Yumi had. It was off the shoulders and deep sky colored blue with rhinestones fluctuating throughout the dress. Hisana came over to look the dress over and nodded while Yumi looked at Rukia for her thoughts. Rukia smiled and hugged Yumi. Yumi was hesitant but she hugged her back. Hisana, feeling left out, also hugged Yumi and smiled.

"You look beautiful." Rukia stated

Hisana agreed, "Yup now for some cute extensions and you'll be the bell of the ball."

Yumi shook her head, "Are extensions necessary?"

Hisana gave an offended look, "Are they necessary usually no but for you yes now go change so we can get your hair done."

Yumi groaned but did as she was told. Hisana smirked while Rukia gave a pity look; she knew all too well how bossy Hisana was and she hadn't changed one bit. Once changed the girls made their way to the beauty salon located in the mall. It was packed but one glance at Hisana and the receptionist immediately opened a chair for them. Rukia gave Hisana a look to which she just shrugged. Yumi on the other hand was looking at Hisana pointedly. It took the stylist an hour and a half to add the extensions in Yumi's hair and another thirty minutes to dye the hair to match Yumi's exact hair color which took a bit since greenish black hair isn't a normal color. Rukia looked at the time and saw it was time for them to all start getting ready to go. She texted her family in their family group chat and told them to meet her at the front entrance. Hisana bought everything which Yumi thanked her for. While walking thinking Rukia was out of earshot Yumi asked Hisana who she was affiliated with. Hisana kept a straight face as she walked and simply said the Kuchiki's. Rukia was now extremely confused about what she was missing or not seeing. Hana and Shirayuki hugged each other tightly before saying their goodbyes. Shizuku gave a smile wave and Hana ran to Rukia's side. Mia on the other hand gave Mia a fist pump and highfive and then walked promptly to Rukia. Yumi bowed and took her bags from Hisana and thanked her. Hisana gave a small smile as Yumi walked to Rukia. Shirayuki, Hisana, and Shizuku all hugged Rukia tightly saying that they all loved each other. Hisana then gave Rukia a bag she had been holding and winked. Rukia sighed and thanked her sister for what she was sure was a dress and then hugged everyone one more time before heading to the car with the girls. While driving Hana was giddy the entire time and Mia was cheerful as well. Rukia smiled and turned some music on for the girls. Yumi cleared her throat and thanked Rukia for everything.

Rukia chuckled, "No need to thank me for just being your trustful Nanny."

"No you're more than that. The women who usually want this job are simple whores or well not so great women. You're the first Nanny I guess to be genuinely nice to me so thank you." Yumi explained.

Rukia felt herself getting a bit choked up but kept herself from crying since she was driving. She gave Yumi a quick one handed hug and then drove into the gates and parked the car in the garage. Mia and Hana ran into the house to get ready for dinner while Yumi stayed close to Rukia. Rukia said hi to the security guards and not to her surprise Tsukune and Takoa ran to her hugging her asking if she was going to make any pastries soon. Rukia rolled her eyes and the others started walking to Rukia to say hi.

"Well I've been thinking of making some nice homemade brownies. Hmm lets say Sunday?"

Tsukune rejoiced and cheered while the others agreed happily. Yumi and Rukia walked into the doors and were greeted by Oko's good-smelling cooking. Yumi went to take a quick shower and change while Rukia followed close behind. Everyone took showers and bathed accordingly. Rukia had started to let Hana and Mia bathe themselves and she would inspect if they were bathing correctly and applying Hana's creams right as well. Everyone was at the table by six and stuffing their faces happily. Ichigo was wearing a gray business suit while Oko and Ran'Tao wore their standard uniform. Ichigo asked Mia and Hana how their day was and Hana and Mia spilled everything about their fun mall adventure and Rukia's family. Rukia smiled as the girls spoke nothing but good things about her aunt and siblings.

"Oh and Yumi got a beautiful dress and we got her hair done." Rukia interjected.

Ran'Tao and Ichigo stayed silent while Oko smiled and clapped his hands.

"I knew you looked different, I just couldn't pinpoint what it was, you look beautiful."

Yumi blushed and kept eating. After dinner everyone was about to do their usual routine but Ichigo stopped them.

"Oko Ran'Tao please tuck the girls in tonight for me will you."

Ran'Tao and Oko gave Ichigo troubling looks but nodded all the same. Yumi, who was getting up to leave, sat back down with Rukia. Ichigo gave Yumi a look to which she defiantly stayed seated. Rukia gave Yumi a look and gave a small smile.

"Yumi, if you would be so kind as to get our baking show ready tonight is the night where we find out who wins."

Yumi gave Rukia a saddened look and then glared at Ichigo and left for the elevator. Ichigo stood up, causing Rukia to stand. He guided her to his office where he turned the lights on and told her to sit. Rukia did as she was told she was confused on why Ichigo wanted to speak to her but she was sure it was probably him wanting her to update him for now on where she takes the girls. Rukia observed the office the same office she was hired in and saw it was the absolute same, just a little more books added to the room. Ichigo sat down in his chair and gave Rukia an expectant look.

"Rukia, what has Yumi told you?"

Rukia was confused; she thought he was going to ask about the girls' day or how it was with the girls, not questions about Yumi. She was so caught off guard she couldn't help but say "Huh."

Ichigo glared, "Don't fuck with me."

Rukia's mouth went dry. She could honestly say she was scared of Ichigo. He had never spoken to her or around her like that before nor had he ever looked at her with pure hate. She was very confused and didn't know what to say.

"I don't understand what you mean sir."

Ichigo chuckled darkly, "I'm not going to ask you again Sode. What in the fuck has Yumi told you."

Rukia was sweating; she could feel her heart racing faster and faster. She thought of every conversation she and Yumi had and made the conclusion on what he was talking about.

"All she has told me is how you don't acknowledge her and that her mother and grandmother who raised are dead. She told me you and your family all treat her like shit and the only nice person here is Oko."

Rukia could see Ichigo's hate and anger filled eyes turn into one of apologetic. Rukia frowned, pissed at how Ichigo talked to her. "I am a human being alright you don't talk to me like that nor do you threaten me. I am here for all three of them, Yumi is not a nonfactor as you stated she's a troubled teen that is more comfortable talking to a complete stranger than her own father. I baked her muffins, scones, cupcakes and give them to her at her door. Before she used to send me thank me notes and I would also give her aspirin and water with her treats since she got drunk and had horrible hangovers. By the way, she's fifteen and she shouldn't be drinking at all you know she actually thought I was trying to poison her. You sir will not be upset with me because your daughter trusts me more than you! With that I will be quitting and my things will be gone by tomorrow when you come back from the party."

Rukia stood up and went to leave but Ichigo stopped her with a laugh. It honestly frightened her as he laughed. Rukia scowled, she was so over it and went to leave.

"Shiro was right, you two have bonded but not in the way he thought. Sit down Rukia. I apologize I am very protective over my family and my businesses." Rukia reluctantly sat down as Ichigo stared intently at Rukia, "I'll increase your pay and I will never speak to you again like that. I am sincerely sorry."

"Look you're apologizing to the wrong person this won't be the first time a man has been mean to me trust me. Yumi is a good girl. Ichigo I don't know about your family dynamic but Yumi is broken. She's been in such a toxic environment but she is a good girl. My parents died when I was young and it left my siblings and I in such a bad mental space. I hate to see Yumi going through that she exhibits signs of depression, anxiety, and manic tendencies. Something my siblings went through."

She saw the guilt in Ichigo's face and a bit of hurt as well. She gave him a soft smile and she lightly grabbed Ichigo's hand and walked him into the kitchen and told him to sit. He did as he was told and Rukia got Ichigo a glass of milk and turned the oven on. She grabbed some mixing ingredients and started baking. It took her forty-five minutes to fix some homemade chocolate chip cookies and smiled. Ichigo bit into the cookie and gave Rukia a surprise look.

"Cookies and milk are the best snacks for the night. Well not really but I used to make it for my aunt when she was stressed and overwhelmed back when I was like sixteen I think."

"These are delicious Rukia. Seriously, why aren't you a baker?"

Rukia looked away for a bit and muttered she was probably blacklisted but turned to Ichigo with a smile, "Who knows."

Ichigo cleared his throat, "I really am sorry Rukia for how I talked to you."

Rukia shook her head, "Ichigo again I'm not the one you should be apologizing to."

Ichigo sighed and nodded. The two talked for a while until three in the morning. Rukia learned Ichigo had to grow up fast with how his family life was. Rukia admired him a bit. He explained how Yumi's presence frightened him. He knew he was a shitty father to her but he thought providing her with shelter and clothing was enough. Rukia reprimanded him a bit which he accepted and said he would do better. Ichigo took his suit jacket off and and ruffled his hair up a bit and gave Rukia a smirk.

"So you relax with cookies and milk but I relax another way."

Ichigo gently grabbed Rukia's hand and led her to the back of the house. Rukia walked close to Ichigo not knowing what was about to happen. He walked her to the back of the house and Rukia was amazed. There was a beautiful patio made to host at least two-hundred people or more and a huge pool and on the side a medium sized jacuzzi. Rukia looked at Ichigo with a confused look and saw him taking off his shirt and pants. Rukia turned away and blushed.

"Rukia, come on, we're adults."

Rukia huffed and turned to Ichigo who had a lean body and was displaying a six pack. Rukia was red in the face. Ichigo looked as if he was sculpted with marble and Rukia had to say Ichigo was hot. Ichigo jumped into the jacuzzi and waved Rukia in. Rukia didn't want to be a prude but she decided to get in with her pajamas on.

Ichigo snorted, "Rukia I've seen women's bodies before no need to be shy."

Rukia smiled, "Oh Ichigo I'm not shy just don't think my employer should see my body that way. Keep it professional."

"Ah I get it."

The two relaxed in the jacuzzi for only thirty minutes because Yumi was frantic as she ran out and Oko and Ran'Tao had a look of panic as well. Yumi ran to Rukia and told her it was time to go to bed. They had to get ready for the party. Rukia agreed and said her goodnights to everyone. Ichigo said his goodnights to both Rukia and Yumi. It caught Yumi off guard and she simply walked with Rukia. It was exhausting and Yumi asked what happened. Rukia told her that Ichigo was sorry for how he treated her and that he would try harder. Yumi was shocked but simply nodded. Yumi left for her room and Rukia dried off and changed and then went to sleep. Unbeknownst to her downstairs her name was being mentioned.

"She doesn't know. Yumi hasn't said anything meaning someone is setting her up." Ichigo stated.

Ran'Tao frowned, "What? But Yumi knows and from the grapevine they said she was the one who gave information."

"It makes sense. Someone knows about your relationship with Yumi and is using her name." Oko stated.

"Damn it I'm tired of this bullshit. At the party make sure Shiro and Karin are on high alert. Make sure Yuzu is protected as usual, make sure Fang and Kamado come as well. Dad will be there with Aunt Yoruichi and Uncle Kisuke will be there. Sure the vizards will be there as well. Uncle Ryuken and Uryu will be there as well with some quincies as well. I want this persons fucking head am I understood."

Oko and Ran'Tao nodded and got to work.

A/N Alrighty I wanted to get this chapter out because I feel so inspired to get chapters out lol.I might get another chapter out soon since I'm on a writer's high. I'm so excited because the next chapter is going to pull some new characters in and some tension with Rukia and a surprised person. Eep I can't wait alright please comment and review. If I don't post anytime soon it's because finals are coming up so I'm going to try and get this next chapter out soon.
