Chapter Two- Meeting Castiel
Present Day- March 1995
"Angelica, sweetie hurry up or you'll be late for school!" Angelica's mom shouts from the bottom of the steps.
"Be right there." Shouted a now sixteen-year-old Angelica right back as she finished getting dressed, grabbing her bag as she ran downstairs to where her lovely mom was finishing up the dishes.
At her approach, she kisses her forehead and crosses her fingers in a gesture of wishing her good luck.
"I always have good luck mom." she giggled at her cute act as she reminded her.
"It's not only for you, but also more so for those students who have to face my brave yet powerful daughter." she said with a hint of amusement yet seriousness.
"I can promise you I won't create trouble this year." she said as she pouted offended. Her mom gives her a look that says I know you like the back of my hand but says nothing. That was a promise she intended to keep.
She must admit there were incidents at other schools she attended where not so good stuff happened. One such instance would have to be bullying. Let's just say if you're a jerk then she can be a jerk right back whether she was the one being bullied or not.
"She better not," a voice says from behind her back, and she turned around only to be engulfed into the arms of her father with a kiss on the cheek before he's pulling away from the hug.
"Trust me, I won't." she said as she kissed his cheek back. "Where's Dean?"
"He left this morning early saying he needed to go somewhere before school starts," he replied, tying his tie which he quickly became frustrated with as he turned his attention to her mom. "Leia, honey can you do this for me. I have an important meeting and I want to look intimidating."
Her mom stops what she's doing and does it then gives him a brief kiss patting his chest briefly. "Personally, I think you look good without it. Good luck at work today."
She turned back around walking away but he turned her around and kissed her again for a longer time as he grabbed her hips.
Her dad worked at a law firm while her mom worked from home to take care of her.
"Get a room," she said as she looked over at them with no real heat. She loved it when they were like that because it meant they were in a pretty good place in their marriage, and nothing had tarnished it yet. "Can you take me to school dad?"
They both turn to her and laugh softly before her dad responds. "Sure, can honeybee. Meet me outside once you get something to eat."
As he grabs his suit jacket and leaves, she sits down at the kitchen island as her mom places a plate of pancakes and bacon in front of her.
"You know what? I'll just eat the bacon. Love you mom." she said as she hurries to meet her dad as she's already late.
"Love you too, sweet pea."
Dean's parents passed away due to a car crash about two years back, so her parents took him and Sam in like the sons they never had. They paid for a Lexus LS 460 car for when Dean got his license unlike her, their own daughter, yet so currently he was driving around with no license. They normally rode to school together, but he did not wake her. Sam was sick with a high fever and the flu and did not even wake up when she tried to wake him.
They have all been inseparable ever since that very first meeting in the playground. Dean and Angelica were even more inseparable than when she was with Sam. When Deans parents were still alive, they met her and took a liking to her just as her parents took a liking to him. They practically spent every waking moment around each other. He was her first ever real valentine once they hit puberty. He probably knew her better than she knew herself.
He began dating others although he gave her looks every now and again. Often, she wondered why he could not keep them. Maybe they were jealous of her. One girl he was dating asked if she is his girlfriend and he would quickly say they were just friends a little too quick for her liking.
After what seemed like forever, they reached her destination, which was Winchester High School. Ironic right? She had a best friend whose last name is Winchester so of course you know she found that ironic. She got out of the car and blew her dad a kiss to which he caught it. She giggled at the cute act.
"I love you, honeybee."
"Love you too, daddy."
He pulls off and she heads into the crowded halls of the school. She could tell who the newbies were based on how nervous they seemed. As she tries finding her first period class which happened to be Spanish, she sees someone get pushed into a locker hard.
Castiel was fifteen years old the first time he met Angelica in the third week of high school. Of course, at the exact same moment he had to deal with three older boys who were giving him hell in the middle of the hallway for an incident that happened a week ago that got them sent to the principal's office. The only thing he did to them was defend his little sister Anna who was nerdy by humiliating them.
He knew he could have thrown a punch, but he was on his own until she arrived at the scene. She sneaked up on one of the guys and twisted his arm behind his back whispering something in his ear.
The one she snuck up on whose name Castiel later learned was Lucifer eyes had grown huge and he looked on the verge of peeing himself. Once she let him go, he went up to the one holding him up against the locker and started speaking in a panicked tone.
"Crowley let that loser-" Before he could finish, Angel twisted his arm again behind his back. "I mean Crowley let him go now."
Crowley turned to Lucifer. "Oh, I am just getting started. Why should I let this loser go unharmed?"
At that, she let go of Lucifer and walked up to Crowley with fury burning in her eyes and he let him go quickly, putting his hand up in a placating manner. Before she could stop him though he punched him in the nose. The third guy grabbed Crowley and Lucifer and they ran past the crowd that gathered around them all but then the crowd dispersed once everything settled.
She covered her mouth, eyes wide. His voice was the only thing that brought her out of her surprise that Crowley punched him.
"Geez, ow." he said as he pinched off his nose while holding it to stop any bleeding.
"Oh my God. I am so sorry that it just happened just now. Here let me help you," she said rushing over to him and holding her hand out to pull him up. She blushes, noticing how close their faces were to each other after she helped him up. "Let me see. You are bleeding"
"It is okay. I am ok-," he replied as he reached up and held the wrist of her hand that was still on his nose away, and she settled that hand on his chest. While holding his nose, he suddenly stopped speaking as he was spell bound by her very blue eyes and how pretty she was. She was wearing no makeup, and her hair was tied into a single loose braid. "I am... okay. How...did...you...do that?"
"Their names are Gordon, Crowley, and Lucifer. They are douchebags who pick on the wrong people instead of their own age," Noticing he was just staring, she waved a hand in his face, and he came out of it. She knew she was beautiful, but she hated being stared at for extended periods of time. "I said a few things and one of them was a way of telling him they will get a taste of their own medicine. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah, I am," he responded letting his nose go to show his nose had stopped bleeding. "Thank you."
She stepped back nodding, winking at him. "You are my friend now and I do not take shit from people who harass them. Stick with me and I will protect you forever."
He never had a friend before, so he hoped with all his heart he found one for better or worse for the long run.
He sees the schedule in her other hand and takes it looking it over. "I see you have Spanish first period with Mr. Wilkins. I have the same class and I am surprised I have not noticed you before. Are you any good at the language?"
"I think I am."
"Good. You can teach me a thing or two."
"I'd like that." She replies as we walk to the class together before the bell rings just talking about random things. "I'm Angel by the way."
"Castiel."
"Well Cas...wait can I call you Cas?"At his nod she continues. "There's something you should know about me. My full first name is Angelica, but I like the name Angel better since I get called it a lot by my friend and family."
"Okay Angel, nice to meet you."
"Likewise, blue eyes."
Right at that moment her friend Dean came out of the janitor's closet holding another girl's hand. She could not help but stare like is he even real as they walked up to them. The years and time were good for him. He grew into a very good-looking guy. He still wore glasses at times to read or something but otherwise did not wear them. Castiel elbowed me to get my attention.
"Would you like to meet me at lunchtime and hang out after school today?"
"Hmmm. What?" I said distractedly harboring my own crush for as long as I can remember on my other friend before speaking again. "...Oh sure... I would love that, but I usually hang with him during lunch and after school unless you would not mind coming along."
"Who is he?"
"His name is Dean, and he is my best friend in the whole world."
As Dean and his girlfriend approached, Dean reached out and hugged her and she saw a quick flash of jealousy flash across the other girls' face that was quickly replaced with a fake smile.
"Hi Angel," he said as they parted, turning to Cas. "Who are you?"
"His name is Cas, and he is now my friend," She then went on and explained how she defended him as they walked to class. "He wants to know if he can spend time together with us at lunchtime and after school. Is that okay?"
"About that...I have plans with Cassie after school," he said hiding the hurt in his voice and eyes but failing miserably as he turned to his girlfriend Cassie. Angelica knew him so well she detected the hurt there. "Don't we Cassie?"
Cassie looked at Dean and must have seen something in his face because she readily agreed. "Yes, we do."
"Ohhh...well where are you going?"
"We're going-" Cassie starts to answer but Dean kisses her preventing her from answering and she melts unable to answer or forgetting completely.
"Nowhere you're going," he responded for Cassie before turning to his best friend not acknowledging Cas in the least with a barely hidden sad smile. "Have fun guys. Do not wait up late Angel and take care of my brother will ya. I will be home by morning."
Unknown to Angelica, he blew off his girlfriend in favor of visiting his other home that no one lived in since his parents passed and spent the night there. He could not get rid of that house since it held so many good memories. He thought he was going to be the one and only friend to Angel. He wanted to be her only friend and be her future husband. He thought he would be her forever everything and she his. He was wrong and he hated it.
