Chapter 7- Making Amends pt. 4
ANGELICA'S POV
After leaving the voicemail, I wiped my eyes and sat up and turned to Castiel who wore a sad smile.
"You really love him, don't you? This is the end for you and me, right?"
There were so many ways I could have answered as to not hurt him, but I went with the truth. Deep inside I somehow knew my heart belonged to Dean and Dean alone. Maybe it was luck or timing that I came to love Cas, but I love Dean more. He is my everything.
I stood up and embraced myself, readying myself for what I was about to say. "Yes. I love you, Cas. But... I love Dean too... maybe a bit more and he's my best friend in the whole world."
"I'm your boyfriend," he bargained, voice already cracking, hopeful as he stood up too. "Doesn't that mean anything to you?"
"He's been my friend way longer!"
"Newsflash, you can get rid of him." he said as anger seeped through his voice and then he covered his mouth fast.
"Maybe I don't want to. It doesn't work that way." I spoke harshly. "Maybe you should go!"
"I didn't mean that," he said stepping up to me, rubbing my arms as he lifted my chin to his gaze so he could see he was sincere. "I just don't want to lose you, Angel."
"Neither do I."
Then we spoke simultaneously: "Do you think..." Cue the chuckle from both of us. I hinted for him to go first.
"Do you think we can still be friends?" he asked stroking my cheek, his blue eyes meeting mines again.
I smiled, knowing he was only sacrificing his heart. "Sure, we can, you idiot."
"Your idiot?"
"My idiot."
He pulled me into a hug to which I wrapped my arms around him, and we hid our faces in each other's necks. Pulling back, we stared into each other's eyes smiling, staring for a moment until my cell rang on the desk next to the letter I wrote for Dean the day right after he left. I reached for it looking at the screen of it.
"It's Dean."
"Answer it."
