Chapter 3

Inside an office of the Magic Academy of Tristain, the principal of the school, Osman, was watching ouside of the window while caressing his familiar, which was a cute white mouse. He had heard about the third daughter of the Duke De la Vallière summoning a human as familiar, so he was currently thinking about what happened afterwards.

'That boy named Saito fought against the son of General De Gramont and defeated him once he was given sword. Colbert told me that Saito-kun's runes shined when he used that sword too.' , were his thoughts, wondering about the foreign boy's powers. Inside the office, there was also his secretary, Mathilde, who was observing his expression.

"Are you worried about something, Lord Osman?", she asked him.

"No, nothing of important. Thanks as always for your hard work, but you should consider the idea of finding a husband before being expired."

That remark along his chuckle made her gasp and frown angrily, leaving the office with some papers immediately. The long beard wizard chuckled together his little mouse at her behavior because she was always funny whenever he teased her about being still single.

He also remembered the fact that Louise acted as a lovely fiance with her familiar, and he was glad for her; he was worried that her failures with magic would maker her sad, but it seemed that her summoning spell was a success, considering that she got a young man she seemed to love already.

Speaking of the pinkette, she was currently cuddling with Saito in her bed, sleeping peacefully on his chest and smiling. The day before they had a bath together that brought them closer to each other, ending up to cuddle again afterwards. Though, the sun rays decided to wake her up, so she started to open her eyes and saw Saito's sleeping face.

'Hehe, he's so cute when he sleeps. He chose me over Kirche and we took a bath together…I'm so happy he's my familiar.', she thought, noticing that he was waking up.

"Is it morning already?", he asked, scratching his eyes.

"Good morning, Saito!", she told him cheerfully and smiling. Upon seeing her face, he blushed.

"G-good morning. I guess cuddling together became a habit for us haha."

"It's because I love sleeping together with you."

Those words made him blush again, as she was so damn cute whenever she said something like that. In comparison to the girls in his school in his world, she was way cuter.

"G-glad to know it. Today there aren't any lessons as you told me yesterday, right?"

"That's correct, today each student is free to do what he/she wants, so we could go to visit the nearby city together.", she replied, snuggling face on his chest.

"Sounds like a great idea. I'm curious to see how the cities of this world are.", he said, grinning. After saying that, he decided to get up, getting asked by her to help her with her clothes.

Getting flushed, he nodded and proceeded to help her change her nightgown with her school uniform. Then they left her room to go to the dining hall, with Louise clinging onto his arm and smiling.

"Hey look! It's Louise and her familiar!"

"They're lovey-dovey today too."

"That guy refused Kirche yesterday night as I heard. He must love Zero too much."

Those were the various sentences made by the students that saw them walking, with the young man blushing and sweatdropping at knowing that they heard about what happened with the redhead. Maybe those guys that Flame sent away with his fire breath told other people about it. On the other hand, the pinkette was flushed that they saw them as a couple, but she smiled happily anyways.

She continued to smile while watching the boy eating some chocolate croissants delightfully, which were made by Siesta and other maids. "G-good morning, Saito-kun, Louise.", suddenly said a new voice.

Looking at his left, the young man ans his master saw a flushed Montmorency accompanied by Guiche, who was smiling and holding his rose wand. "Oh, good morning, Montmorency-san. You too, Guiche.", said the black haired boy, making her blush.

"What kind of greeting is that?", complained the blonde, frowning.

"Don't be rude to him, Guiche!", scolded him his girlfriend, making him sweatdrop while Saito chuckled.

"Good morning, guys. Will you go somewhere today?", asked them Louise, clinging onto her familiar and making Montmorency's eyes twitch.

"I thought of going with Guiche to visit a boutique to buy new dresses. But it's true what I heard about you and Kirche, Saito-kun?"

"Yes, i-it's true. She made her salamander drag me to her room and then I refused her.", he replied, scratching his head and blushing.

"Saito went back to my room with me then because he prefers me.", said Louise, rubbing her face on his shoulder while various hearts appeared around her.

'Thank goodness Kirche didn't do anything to him, but I kinda dislike that Louise always clings onto him.', thought Montmorency, feeling somewhat jealous. She greeted them afterwards before going to search for a free table, blushing again when Saito greeted her back.

"I guess that she's still pissed at him for two-timing her.", he said, sighing.

"That's why you're better than him: you're more handsome and loyal hehe.", said his master, causing him to get red again. Seeing the new "couple" of the academy complimenting each other often was a common thing for the students that chuckled.

In another table instead, Kirche was frowning while looking at Saito and his master while Tabitha was reading a book and eating a pastry. "Why did he refuse me for her?!", she exclaimed, annoyed.

"Considering what you did yesterday, I think he made the right thing.", told her the bluenette.

"But I sent those guys away and I'm sexy compared to Louise!"

"Her familiar prefers her because she cares for him very much. She spent lot of money to get a cure for him after his duel with Guiche too.", retorted Tabitha. She watched carefully how Saito destroyed the brass golems once he grabbed the sword and she was happy that Louise did her best to heal him. That was why she told her friend to leave them alone, as it was clear that the foreign man wasn't interested in her.

Following breakfast time, said foreign man went with Louise to take one of the carriages at the service of the students for trips to the city, sitting next to the pinkette. Since she gave him a lap pillow, he came up with an idea.

"Louise, do you want to rest your head on my legs?", he asked her, blushing. The sudden question surprised her and made her eyes shine.

"Ehh? You want to give me a lap pillow? You're so sweet!", she told him, resting her head on his legs and giggling.

'Maybe he wanted to reciprocate the one I gave him. Aww, I like Saito so much!', she thought, keeping to smile and closing her eyes. The young man was amazed once again by her, blushing more because of how adorable she was. He also thought that their trip to the city was going to be like a date in his world, so he looked more forward to it.

An half hour later, the carriage reaches the nearby city and Saito was surprised to see a real life medieval city, noticing the differences between the nobles and the plebeians to his chagrin. While the first were dressed up nicely and elegant, the second ones had dirty or old clothes and there some of them that begged for some money on the street.

"This society is always divided in nobles and commoners, and as I told you, almost all the nobles look down on the second. Cattleya-nee taught me to respect every being, not caring about his/her social class.", told him Louise, holding his hand and leaning her head on his shoulder.

"Your sister is really a wonderful person then. But are you ok with being clingy here?", he asked her, blushing.

"I don't want to get separated from you and besides, you're important for me.", she replied, hugging his arm. Some people noticed them and smiled at the sight, making both teenagers blush more.

So the two of them started to walk through the city, with the boy observing various types of shops and places where to eat. It looked he was inside an old European city, even if he had not visited one yet in his world. At a certain point, his attention got caught by a weapons' shop, which made him remember the moment he grabbed Guiche's sword.

Coming up with another idea, he told Louise that he wanted to visit that shop, making her curious. Once inside, he was amazed by the various axes and swords he could see, hearing a chuckle coming from a middle aged man.

"Welcome to my shop, youngsters. Are you looking for a weapon to protect your girlfriend, boy?", asked the man, making Saito blush while Louise giggled.

"Y-yeah, I wanted to give a look to some weapons.", he answered, not denying anything about being the girl's sweetheart and making her smile more.

"Very good, I have recently received this sword. Take a look!"

The shopper took a golden sword covered in jewels and showed it to them, making their eyes widen for how beautiful it looked.

"Pfft, that sword is all just about looks."

A sudden new voice surprised the 3 of them, so Saito looked around to see who talked but with no results. Though, he got shocked when he saw the shopper taking a old rusted sword near the wall.

"Shut up! You will make them run away like you did with the previous customers!", he exclaimed to the sword, which chuckled and made the two teenagers more shocked.

"I simply said the truth about that piece of junk haha. You can tell them it was made in Germania, but it's just an ornament.", retorted the talking sword.

"N-no way…Is it talking?", asked Saito.

"Oh yes that I am. Haven't you ever seen a sword that talks, huh? My name's Derflinger, boy.", presented itself the weapon, surprising him and Louise even more. Though, the way it talked suddenly made Saito chuckle.

"Haha, nice to meet you, Derflinger."

"Oho, he's got a sense of humor unlike you, old man."

Irritated, the shopper yelled at the sword again while Saito decided to grab the golden sword with his left hand, getting observed by Louise. Checking his runes, he didn't saw them shining and he didn't feel the powers that he had in his duel with Guiche.

'Derflinger is right, this sword is just ornamental. It seems that my powers doesn't work with weapons of this type.', he thought. The real reason he entered in the shop with Louise wasn't just to get himself a weapon to protect her, but also to get an idea of how his power really worked.

"Do you like that sword, young man?" asked him the shopper.

"No, I think I will buy Derflinger. This sword is cool, but I can feel it's not made to fight."

His reply made everyone stunned, with Louise asking him if he was sure. "I am. Derflinger just needs some care to get rid of the rust and I can't make you spend too much money after you got the healing potion for me.", he told her, scratching his red face.

Her heart skipped a beat at hearing that, so she couldn't hold back from hugging him lovingly while the talking weapon chuckled before their lovey-dovey moment. So after paying 100 coins for Derflinger, Saito left the shop with it behind his back while holding the girl's hand.

"You two are so close to each other. Are you a couple?", suddenly asked the sword.

"W-well, Saito is my familiar after I summoned him. But you're right in saying we're very close hehe."

"Interesting, so my owner has a lovely girlfriend haha. Oh, thanks for buying me, by the way. You're the first human to have a good eye for weapons."

"You were right about that golden sword and somehow I could feel you're not just a talking sword.", said Saito, smiling.

"Let's say that I'm a magical weapon created still 6000 years ago, but in the course of history, I ended up in that shop."

Such revelation made the two teenagers gasp, bringing them to sit down on a bench to hear more about Derflinger. Their curiosity was similar to kids', so it laughed and told them about various events happened thousands of years ago. During that, it saw the runes on Saito's left hand, understanding everything.

'I see, that's why he was able to see the difference between me and that piece of jewels. He's my right wielder.', it thought. Unbeknownst to the 3 of them, Kirche was observing them from a chair of a table while Tabitha was drinking a coffee and reading another book.

Still upset after the foreign man refused her, the redhead followed him and Louise to see what they would do in the city, as she was jealous of the pinkette. She even watched what happened at the shop, getting shocked at seeing him prefering the old talking sword instead of the golden one made in her birth country. It was clear she didn't hear Saito said about that useless fake weapon.

"Why can't you just accept the fact he doesn't like you?", asked her Tabitha, sighing.

"But no man never refused me! I can't believe he preferred that flat chested over me.", she replied, scoffing.

"He must have felt like you were just playing with him after he saw those guys outside of your window."

The bluenette's words made Kirche frown because she knew she was right, but she still didn't accept that Saito wasn't attracted to her. Her jealousy increased when she saw him giving a lap pillow to her rival, who blushed and giggled while the magical sword told him "Well done!"

Some hours later, during which the supposed couple had lunch in a little tavern, they were on their way back to the academy inside a carriage. "In my long life, magicians weren't sweet with their familiars unlike you, young girl.", said the sword.

"It's because it's my duty to take care of Saito and I don't want anything of bad happening to him.", she said, hugging his arm affectionately.

"I bet you had a bath together haha."

The sword's words were correct, so it laughed while both teenagers blushed at remembering that sweet moment between them. Especially the young man because he had to hold back his excitement in that occasion, as he wouldn't forgive himself if he scared such caring girl.

Anyways, once they reached the Magic Academy, seeing Zero's familiar with a sword behind his back surprised various students, especially Montmorency that blushed and found him very cool. Her boyfriend gasped in fear because he got reminded of when Saito threatened him in their duel.

"Wow, Saito-san is awesome with that sword!"

"He looks like a hero!"

"Aww, I wish to be carried by him like a princess."

Those were what the maids of the kitchen said upon seeing him, with Siesta feeling kinda like them. She watched him when he went to wash some of Louise's clothes at the fountain some minutes later, smiling and going towards him.

"Saito-san, may I help you?", she asked him.

"Oh, hello, Siesta. Are you sure?", he asked her, smiling.

"Don't worry, I take care of various things during my job. I also noticed that you have a sword now.", she replied, washing a shirt in the water with some soap.

"Yeah, the funny thing is that it's a magical weapon able to talk and created still 6000 years ago. Its name is Derflinger, but I call it Derf."

Such words shocked her, so she asked him more questions about the sword, giggling at hearing Derf's jokes. Montmorency watched their interaction, pouting because she kinda wanted to get closer to him too.

It was like she got affectionate to him after he fought her two-timer boyfriend for her sake and she thanked him for that, so she thought that maybe she could do something more for him to thank him. Guiche was instead patting his familiar, a big mole he named Verdante, as he was very affectionate to it.

Though, she gasped when she saw Kirche attempting to hug the foreign boy. "Why don't you want my hugs?"

"I told you yesterday that Louise is adorable and you made your salamander drag me to my room. So don't flirt with me, please.", he said, frowning and sweatdropping.

"W-what?! How could you not accept my burning love for you?!"

"Cut it out, Kirche.", suddenly said Montmorency, joining the conversation and surprising everyone.

"Saito-kun felt played around after yesterday, so you should leave him alone."

"I a-agree with Miss Montmorency.", said Siesta instead, hugging the boy's arm and making him blush.

'She has them big.', he thought, feeling the softness of her chest. While the blondie pouted at that sight, the redhead frowned at being reprimanded by her too, so she left in annoyance.

"Thank you for helping me, Montmorency-san."

"A-ah, you're welcome. Y-you're my friend after you helped me.", she said, blushing and twirling her hair.

"It seems that you attracted the maid too, Saito."

Guiche's teasing made Siesta blush more and detach herself from the foreigh boy, apologizing for her action. Montmorency pinched her boyfriend's ear and told him to shut up while Saito sweatdropped and chuckled, assuring Siesta that he wasn't annoyed.

And when he was done with washing Louise's clothes, he went back to her room, getting hugged by her for the umpteenth time. "Haha, I was out just for some minutes."

"I-I can't help myself. I like clinging onto you so much.", she said, rubbing her face on his chest.

"Hey partner, you're very lucky to have her as your "girlfriend". I bet that she liked kissing you to form the contract.", teased them Derf. Both master and familiar blushed at remembering their kiss, even if Louise giggled too.

"He told me I was his first kiss too."

"Oho, I'm glad for you then, young lady. Maybe he wants to see you naked too."

"I-I'm a not pervert!", retorted a flustered Saito.

"It's fine if you want to see me naked.", told him the pinkette. It was obvious that his mind started to imagine her naked on the bed and looking at him with a bashful expression, which caused him to blush more.

'Ok, maybe I'm perverted, but it's because she's so damn beautiful!', he thought, stopping his lewd imagination and hugging her back. Being hugged back by him made her heart flutter with joy.

And while the new "couple" of the academy was spending quality time together, Colbert got informed about Saito getting a sword, which gave more confirmation to what he found out about his runes. In fact, following Saito's victory against Guiche, the teacher had proceeded to research his runes in the books inside the school's library, getting stunned by what he found out.

It seemed that Louise's familiar had the power to control and wield any weapon he grabbed with his left hand, just like it happened in his duel. Such revelation made Colbert want to know more about the extent of Saito's powers, becoming curious about the origins of the boy.

In another room instead, the principal's secretary was currently working on some papers while being intrigued by what she heard about Zero's familiar. 'I didn't think that her familiar was so particular on top of being a human. I wonder what I should expect in the future.', she thought, keeping a serious expression.

But such expression morphed into a frown when she got called by Osman through a messenger, who added that she really needed to get herself a boyfriend. Getting flustered, she got out of her office nervously to reach the old wizard, thinking that old beings liked teasing young ones about love. As coincidence, Saito thought the same thing while being teased by Derf again and with Louise still clinging onto him happily.

As you can read, Louise kept being overly clingy with her dear familiar, who got the chance to go out with her on a "date" fufu. They got to meet with the funny magical sword Derflinger too, which was glad to see the foreign boy able to differentiate a real weapon from a fake one.

Saito got closer to Siesta and Montmorency meanwhile, and yes, he dislikes Kirche after what happened the day before. It's not very nice seeing a girl interested you receiving 3 other men that were supposed to date her, after all. Meanwhile, Osman and Colbert got informed about what Saito did, with the teacher getting more curious about his powers and where he comes from. Will Derflinger tell Saito and Louise something the boy's true abilities? Will he meet other girls too? Stay tuned to find out.
