Knowing that a dangerous item like the Ring of Andvaluri was in the hands of a thief like Cromwell truly enraged him, as he was certain that he would use it for some evil plans that involved innocent people. It wasn't a case that he destroyed his targets with more brute force during the training, with his runes constantly shining while he wielded Derf.

Though, he was also concerned about Montmorency: following the preparation of the antidote that she drank then, she apologized deeply for what she did and began to avoid him. It wasn't a case that she sat distant from him during lunch, which made him sad and think that she felt really guilty of her actions.
