6#A Ghost From The Past.

Tyler sat on the examination table in the school nursery, with nurse Fritz, a black woman, standing in front of him, shining a black mini-flashlight in his eyes and checking his blood pressure with a cuff wrapped around his left arm. Mrs. Winston had sent him here to be checked out to make sure he was okay.

Nurse Fritz had black crimped hair that went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back, and her eyes were brown.

"Who's Evan?" Nurse Fritz asked.

"What?" Tyler asked.

"Who is Evan?" Nurse Fritz asked as she turned the flashlight off and lowered it from Tyler's eyes. "You mentioned the name Evan in the classroom." She said as she put the flashlight in her white lab coat pocket on the left side. "Mrs. Winston said you kept repeating it. Why?"

"He was a friend." Tyler answered.

"Did you two have a fight?" Nurse Fritz asked.

"I-i don't..." Tyler stuttered before nurse Fritz started to remove the blood pressure cuff.

"Here, put this on the back of your head." Nurse Fritz said, holding a white tide up rag full of ice in her right hand, which Tyler took. She then finished removing the blood pressure cuff from around his arm and sat it on the table. "You said he WAS your friend." She said as Tyler put the rag of ice on the back of his head. "Did you fight?"

"He was my friend, i...Well, he's dead." Tyler admitted.

"What? When?" Nurse Fritz asked.

"Last year...in Harmoney, Utah." Tyler said.

"Evan." Nurse Fritz said, thinking. "Oh! I'm sorry. You must be talking about the Afton boy of '83."

"Yeah." Tyler said as he took the rag of ice off the back of his head. So nurse Fritz had heard about what happened to Evan. Well, that was no surprise to him. It was no secret what had happened to Evan, it was on every News channel, radio station and in every News paper.

"Leave it on." Nurse Fritz said before Tyler put the rag of ice back on the back of his head. "You still have a hard time dealing with his death?"

"Sometimes." Tyler said.

"How so?" Nurse Fritz asked, folding her arms.

"(Sighs) Every night since it happened, i get these dreams." Tyler began as he got up off the table. "They're nightmares, really." He turned headed for the window with an open blind. "I'm always trying to save Evan's life, but..." He said as he walked over to the window. "just like that night, i can't." He said as he opened the blind wider with his left hand and looked out the window. "I keep hope that the next time i'll be able to." He said as he took his hand off the blind. "The next time i can help him." He said. "I know that doesn't make any sense...but it's what i'm hoping for."

"But you know that when the dream does play out the way you want it to...it won't change the fact that your friend is gone." Nurse Fritz said before she walked over to a desk.

"That's just the thing, he's not really gone, i saw him today." Tyler said, turning to face nurse Fritz.

"What?" Nurse Fritz asked, confused.

"Uh, i mean...i'm not feeling too well." Tyler said as he walked away from the window.

"I'm gonna speak to Mrs. Winston and request to let you go home early today." Nurse Fritz said. "I think you don't feel well because of these nightmares and lack of sleep."

"Five days." Came the faint voice of Evan from outside, making Tyler look at the window.

"You get some rest tonight and if you don't feel better tomorrow, you better have your parents call your family position." Nurse Fritz said.

Tyler walked up to the window.

"Five days." Repeated the voice of Evan.

Tyler opened the blind wider with his left hand and saw Evan standing outside the school, holding the Fredbear plush-toy he had seen outside school earlier. So it was real. It hadn't been his mind playing tricks on him. He hadn't imagined it. Evan sat Fredbear on the ground in front of him and then faded away, leaving the plushie behind. Tyler was instantly spooked by what he had just seen. Since when could Evan just vanish? Since when could any person vanish, much less a kid? Then, just like Evan...Fredbear vanished too. This couldn't be real. People and plush-toys didn't just vanish into thin air.

"It's him." Tyler said. "It's-" He began as he turned to face nurse Fritz, only to see Evan standing in her place, reading papers in a file. Evan looked at Tyler, making him back up against the wall and drop the rag of ice onto the floor, spilling all the ice out of it.

"What's going on?" Nurse Fritz asked, looking at Tyler while holding the open file of papers.

Tyler was officially creeped out. What was Evan doing here? Why was he glowing that faint light? Why did he look like he was frozen? And what was he doing here? Why was here? More importantly, how was he here? Evan was dead...wasn't he?
