10#Bed Rest.

Tyler laid in bed in his bedroom, wearing his white sleeveless undershirt, with a thermometer in his mouth, his Mom sitting on the right side. She was checking his temperature to make sure he wasn't running a fever.

After finishing up his therapy with Dr. Stiner, Tyler and Terrance came straight home where the 10-year old immediately changed out of his clothes and into his sleep-wear and got in bed, which were the doctor's orders before he and Terrance left the hospital. Tyler had told Stiner about Evan and how they had been best friends first grade in elementary school, as well as all the things they did together, but that was as far as he went, as he wanted to save that for their next session tomorrow, which Stiner totally understood and respected.

"Honey, please, enough with the thermometer." Terrance said. "The poor kid's been poked and ported enough for one day." He said as Saffron took the thermometer out of Tyler's mouth. "The doctor says he just needs some rest."

"Uh-huh." Saffron said, looking at the thermometer. "I knew it." She said. "83.5." She stated as she looked at Terrance.

"Good. when he hits 100, we'll sell." Terrance joked."

"I don't get it." Tyler said.

"It's a joke about stocks, Tyler." Saffron said.

"I'm gonna go rent a movie." Terrance said as Saffron stood up. "Can i get you guys anything while i'm out?"

"Nothing for me, but thanks." Saffron said.

"Something from McDonald's would be great. Large fries and a big mac burger?" Tyler said.

"Let's go, Saffron." Terrance said as he turned to exit the room.

"I think i'm gonna stay for a little while." Saffron said, making Terrance stop in his tracks.

"Don't you think Tyler needs his rest?" Terrance asked as he turned to face her.

"It's okay, Dad, she's only gonna be here for a few minutes." Tyler said.

"Alright." Terrance said. "But the minute Ty starts nodding off-"

"Oh, i'm out of here." Saffron said.

Terrance then turned and exited Tyler's room through the open door.

Saffron turned and sat back down on the right side of Tyler's bed. "I'm really gonna miss you not going fishing with us tomorrow after school. I wish you were going."

"I've never been fishing without you." Saffron said.

"Hey, no sweat. I've been fishing since i was 7. Besides, you'll have Dad with you. It'll be cool." Tyler said.

"Just like you use to go fishing with Evan, his Dad and Mr. Emily and his son, Sammy, back in Harmoney." Saffron said.

"Yeah." Tyler said.

Saffron looked at the framed picture of Tyler and Evan on his night-stand, the picture being that of them on their bikes outside the Afton home, wearing black sun-glasses. The photo had been taken last year in April by William when Tyler was 9 and Evan was 8. "Tyler...did you really see him?"

Tyler paused. "I don't know." He said. The 10-year old knew that wasn't the true, but what was the point, really? What was the point of telling his Mom the truth about seeing Evan? Everyone thought he was a few sandwiches short of a picnic, her and Terrance included.

"Well...whatever it is you saw...we'll figure it out." Saffron said before standing up. "Get some rest." She said as she headed for the door.

"Thanks, i'll try." Tyler said. "Mom?"

Saffron stopped at the open door. "Yes?"

"What did Dad's joke before them? Was is dirty?" Tyler asked.

"No. It was just too grown-up for you to understand. Besides, it wasn't that funny. I think my jokes are much better." Saffron said.

"I won't tell him you said that." Tyler stated, with a smile.

"Thanks." Saffron said, smiling, before exiting Tyler's room, closing the door behind her.
