12#Evan's Warning.
May 2nd
Day 2
The next morning, Tyler moved for a bit in his sleep, lying on his back. After drying himself off and changing into another pair of pajama pants last night, the 10-year old boy returned to his room and went back to sleep. Though how he was able to do that was beyond him, given the nightmare he had about Evan. But somehow he'd managed to. He hadn't had another nightmare about his friend the rest of the night, which was good, but that didn't mean there wouldn't be more of them awaiting him tonight...or the night after...or the night after that...and so on and so on.
...
Saffron, dressed for the outdoors, walked up the stairs, heading for Tyler's room to get him up for school. It was 7:00 o'clock in the morning and the school bus would be here soon. Normally, she would wake him up at 6:30 so he could get dressed and eat breakfast before the bus came, but yesterday was anything but normal for him. She had only let him sleep in because of the rough day he had yesterday. As she made it to the top of the stairs, Terrance came out of the master bedroom, still dressed for bed.
"Hey, beautiful." Terrance said, stopping Saffron. "Where are you off to?" He asked as Saffron turned to face him.
"I've gotta get Tyler out of bed. School day, ya know? I only let him sleep in because of the stress-filled day he had yesterday." Saffron said.
"I think that last part goes for all of us. I tell ya, with the amount of money the hospital is chargin' us, these therapy sessions better be worth it." Terrance said.
"Yeah, i hope so too." Saffron said.
"Let him sleep a bit longer, huh? It's only 7:00 and he needs all the rest he can get after the day he had yesterday. Besides, getting him up for school at 7:00 o'clock in the morning? My parents even do that. They got me up at 7:30." Terrance said.
"I suppose you're right. I guess it wouldn't hurt to let him sleep for another 29 minutes. After all, school doesn't start until 8:00 o'clock. I think i'll use the time to head over to McDonalds in the van and get Tyler some breakfast, 'cause i really don't feel like cooking this early in the morning." Saffron said before she began heading downstairs.
"Good. I'll go with you. We can get ourselves some breakfast from there too." Terrance said as Saffron descended the stairs. He then went over to the door of Tyler's bedroom, slowly opened the it, and saw Tyler lying in his bed sound asleep. Not wanting to disturb the boy from his slumber, Terrance quietly closed the door back.
...
Later, Tyler was now lying asleep on his stomach without a care in the world.
"Tyler." Came the voice of Evan. "Tyler."
Tyler's eyes shot open, having heard Evan's voice the second time.
"Tyler." Evan's voice called.
Tyler propped himself up on his hands.
"Tyler." Evan's voice repeated, a bit louder this time. "Tyler. It's Evan, come on."
Tyler flinched with fear before pulling back the covers--revealing himself wearing blue pajamas pants, getting out of bed, going over to the window and looking out, only for nothing to be outside. "(Sighs)." He said before turning away from the window and looking at the framed picture of him and Evan on his night-stand.
"Tyler. Come on." Evan's voice said.
Tyler turned back to the window and saw Evan appear on the lawn, holding his Fredbear plishie. "Okay, fine. That's it." He said, turning away from the window. "If he wants me, let him get it over with. I'm sick of this." He said before went over to his bedroom door, opened it, and stormed out of his room.
...
Tyler opened the front door of the house and walked outside, closing it behind him. "Evan?!" He called. He turned around in a circle, looking for Evan, but he was nowhere to be seen. He walked out on the driveway, Terrance's car parked there. "Evan!" He repeated as he walked to the end of the driveway. "Evan!" The pre-teen boy looked around his friend again, but couldn't find him. "Evan!"
"Here i am, Tyler." Came a young familiar male voice from behind.
Tyler turned around to see Evan standing right in front of him. "Here-here i am? Just like that? Here i am?" He said. "What do you want from me?!" He demanded, putting his right hand on Evan's left shoulder, only for it to phase right through it. Shocked, Tyler withdrew his hand. "You're a ghost." He said, verbalizing what he had suspected of Evan all along since seeing him for the fourth time yesterday in 11 months. Evan was a ghost. "I...i can't...Look, i tried to save you, alright? I tried to save, alright? I tried, i did whatever i could, if that wasn't good enough...do whatever you want to me. Tell me this though: Why do you keep coming after me?"
"I'm here to warn you." Evan said, his voice now normal.
"Warn me? Oh, that's great, warn me!" Tyler said. "You know...what's so important that you had to come back after all this time and-"
"Five days." Evan said, cutting Tyler off.
"What?" Tyler asked. There were those words again. The very words Evan had been saying since the second time Tyler saw him. Five days. Five days 'til what?
"You have five days, Ty. I tried to tell you yesterday at school. You must be ready for them when they come." Evan warned.
"They? Who's they?" Tyler asked.
"They. They are coming. They're coming for you, Ty. During the next three days of the five-day deadline, starting today, three of them will come for you." Evan explained darkly.
Tyler stood there froze, all of the color draining from his face. THEY were coming for him? Why? Who were they? And why were they coming after him? He wasn't a bad kid.
Evan's Fredbear plush-toy appeared in his right hand and he offered it to Tyler.
"Thanks." Tyler said, accepting the plush-toy from Evan. "Uuuh...i miss you, Evan."
"I miss you too, Ty." Evan said. "Be careful. Today and the remaining three days will be scary and tough...and...we don't want you on this side just yet."
"Who is we, Tyler asked, confused.
Evan then vanished, fading away.
"Huh?" Tyler said. "Evan? Evan! Wait! Who is we?!" He called. But Evan didn't reappear, nor was there any response from him. Evan was gone. What did he mean by "We"? Who was "We"? Who were "They" that were coming after him? And further more, what was this five days business about? What happened in five days? Then he thought about Evan's last words to him.
"We don't want you on this side just yet."
Those last words sent shivers up and down Tyler's spine, as he now knew what they meant. Evan was dead and a ghost now, meaning he was in the afterlife. Was that what was ahead for him? Did he only have a few days left to live?
Tyler was then brought out of his thoughts by the sound of a vehicle's horn, and he turned and saw his Mom's brown van coming up the road, followed by stopping at the end of the driveway where he stood.
The front passenger-window rolled down, revealing Terrance. "Well, look who's up early. Just in time too. We got McDonalds."
