I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the OC known as Danielle Hopkins. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.

Chapter Fourteen

It has been a few days since touring Hexside. Since then, Yellow Fang has been dealt with by Principal Bump. And Mattholomule staying later at school for some special cleanup with surprisingly Emira and Edric. As for the residents of the Owl House, it was taking King to the slayground for a bit.

"King is enjoying himself," said Danielle, carefully watching King.

"What if he gets hurt? What if the kids are mean to him?" asked Luz, nervously as she watched King. "My parental instincts are freaking out, man."

"You and me both," said Danielle, seeing King try to climb a slide.

"He's fine," said Eda, poking Luz's forehead. "Look at him."

"It does look like he's having fun," said Luz, back to watching King. "Aw. I wonder what cute little game he's playing."

"One guess," said Danielle, watching as well.

"Stand back, cretins," said King, reaching the top of the slide. "Yes! Yes! This is a throne worthy of a tyrant. Bow to me you snotty underlings. Bow!"

"Knew it," said Danielle, sighing. "It's the same old thing. I wonder when he'll grow out of his little monarch phase."

"Probably never," said Eda, looking at Danielle.

"That's not healthy," said Danielle, looking at Eda.

"Eda!" shouted King, clinging to Luz's leg. "That monster took my throne."

"You mean the baby?" asked Eda, staring at King.

"No, the usurper," said King, pointing at a Red-haired Kid. "I want you to go over there and blow him up. Kaboom!"

"Yeah, I'm not using Owlbert to blow up a five-year-old," said Eda, unscrewing Owlbert from her staff. "He's got better things to do. Like this..."

"Aaw, such a cutie," said Danielle, watching Eda scratch under Owlbert's wing. "Still interesting that palisman are made from palistrom wood."

"Aw, what a sweetie," said Luz, cooing at the sight.

"Yup. Oh, he's my palisman and we're bonded for life," said Eda, Owlbert hopping onto her shoulder and nuzzling her. "I'd annihilate anyone who'd hurt him."

"Fine. Don't help. Revenge will taste all the sweeter if they fall by my hand alone," said King, laughing.

"Tag, you're it!" said the Red-haired Kid, shoving King before being grabbed by Danielle. "Hey!"

"You were a little rough right there with King," said Danielle, staring at the Red-haired Kid. "Apologize."

"No!" shouted the Red-haired Kid, pulling his arm away and running back towards the slide.

"I'm not liking the fact that the parents aren't really watching their kids here," said Danielle, bending down to help King up.

"That's just how it is here," replied Eda, before seeing King getting angry. "Oh, man. Here we go. King's squeak of rage."

"Huh…" said Danielle, staring at Eda.

"Mom, quick! You got to see this."

"Nyeh... nyeh..." said King, before squealing while wriggling and punching the air then chasing after the Red-haired Kid.

"¡Ay, que lindo!"

"Oh, come on!"

"I can never get enough of that squeal. Hehehehe."

"King, your squeal is sooo cute."

"Collector!"

"Collector?" thought Danielle, wondering what the Voices were talking about.

"He is like a little teakettle," said Eda, laughing alongside Danielle.

"Oh, I agree."

"Lady Asteria!"

"Asteria?" thought Danielle, holding the side of her head. "That sounded like my mom's voice but… my mom's name is Aria. But if you take out those three letters… … mom?"

"… … …"

"Hey, what's that?" asked Luz, noticing Owlbert's interlock.

"That's his interlock," replied Eda, pointing to Owlbert's interlock. "So he only fits on to my staff. Every palisman has one."

"Eda!" said Luz, seeing Eda pass out.

"Eda! Oh, my goodness," said Danielle, positioning Eda better on the bench and lightly slapping her cheek. "Eda, Eda! You there? Please respond."

"What?" said Eda, regaining consciousness before shuddering.

"It's the curse, isn't it," said Danielle, helping Eda up some alongside Luz.

"Of course," replied Eda, grabbing her staff and leaving. "We have to get home. Now!"

"King we have to go!" said Luz, looking in King's direction.

"Five more minutes, please!" said King, on top of the jungle gym facing the Red-haired Kid.

"King!" said Danielle, raising her voice before walking over.

"Ah, man," said King, before being grabbed by Danielle. "This isn't over."

"Okay, let's play again real soon," said the Red-Haired Kid, waving bye.

Heading back to the Owl House, Eda slumps on the couch the moment she walks in the living room. Danielle lightly tosses a blanket over Eda.

"I'll go get your elixir," said Luz, about to walk pass Eda.

"Don't worry about it," said Eda, her voice muffled by the couch. "I'll get it myself in a bit."

"I'll scrounge up something for you to eat," said Danielle, thinking about what to make. "No garlic, right?"

"Do you need me to stay home and take care of you?" asked Luz, staring at Eda. "I could put King in a little doctor's outfit."

"Please do! Please do!"

"Collector!"

"Aaw, come on! You'll be even cuter!"

"Meh?" said King, looking away from his drawings toward Luz.

"No one wants to see that," said Eda, staring at King.

"I do," said Danielle and Luz, staring at King.

"So do we!"

"No, we don't!"

"Look, I know how to take care of myself," said Eda, looking at Danielle and Luz. "I've had this curse longer than you've been alive."

"So, how'd you get it?" asked Luz, looking at Eda.

"I don't know," replied Eda, grunting.

"You don't know?" said Luz, looking at Eda.

"Somebody gave it to me. I don't know who and I don't care because I'm fine, all right?" said Eda, sitting up.

"Wait a minute," said Danielle, thinking. "Back during the convention, I heard Lilith in my head, remember."

"Yeah," said Eda, looking at Danielle.

"She said she was sorry," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "It's a long stretch but could it be connected…"

"Lilith?" said Eda, before thinking. "No, it couldn't… could it? No."

"Eda?" said Danielle, lightly touching Eda's shoulder.

"Anyway, don't you have plans with Tweedledum and Twerpledee?" asked Eda, changing the subject.

"Well, Willow, Gus, Danielle and I are going to the grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus High," replied Luz, looking at Eda.

"But making sure you're okay is much more important," said Danielle, before looking at Luz. "If you still want to go, then go ahead. I'm staying here to make sure…"

"Go! Go have fun at sport," said Eda, pointing at the door.

"But…" said Danielle, concerned for Eda.

"Go!" said Eda, still pointing at the door. "Luz, drag her with you."

"On it," said Luz, linking arms with Danielle and pulling her towards the door. "Danielle, stop resisting."

"But Eda…" said Danielle, clinging to the doorframe as Hooty stares at her. "Hooty, don't… you…"

"Hooty, use your tickle attack," said Luz, looking at Hooty.

"Tickle tickle," said Hooty, inching closer to Danielle.

"Hooty, don't…" said Danielle, before giving in to laughter as Hooty tickled her.

"Got'cha," said Luz, as Danielle let go of the doorframe and started dragging her along.

"You two… are in…" said Danielle, catching her breath as they walked towards Hexside. "I'd sleep with one eye open tonight."

"Yeesh," said Luz, before spotting Willow and Gus sitting on the steps to Hexside. "Ah! Friends."

"Did we just…" said Danielle, staring around. "Miss the dragon bus?"

"Yeah," replied Willow and Gus, looking at Danielle.

"Why didn't you board the bus?" asked Danielle, staring at Willow and Gus.

"We weren't going to leave you two behind," replied Willow, looking at Danielle.

"I was," said Gus, looking to the side.

"Gus," said Willow, elbowing Gus.

"Sorry it took so long," said Luz, before slightly glaring at Danielle. "But Hooty had to tickle Danielle free of the doorframe."

"Eda's curse was acting up," said Danielle, looking at Luz before looking at Willow and Gus. "Right, that's no excuse for you three to miss the game. Still, I'm sorry. Is it possible to walk to Glandus?"

"We'd never make it in time. Glandus is..." replied Gus, twirling his flags before pointing in a certain direction. "All the way out in the middle of the island."

"And my parents are working, otherwise I'd see if they could give us a ride on their staff," said Willow, looking at Danielle and Luz.

"A staff... because staffs fly," said Luz, thinking about Owlbert. "Of course. I can get us a staff."

"You can?" said Gus, looking at Luz.

"Whoa, hold up," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "We're going to ask Eda first."

"I wouldn't take it without asking," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Even I know that."

"Good we're on the same page here," said Danielle, lightly sighing.

Heading back to the Owl House, Danielle and Luz leave Willow and Gus in the living room. Heading upstairs, Danielle and Luz head straight towards Eda's room.

"King, are you home?" asked Luz, walking on up to the third floor with Danielle.

"Eda, you there?" asked Danielle, lightly knocking on the bedroom door.

"Oh Danielle, Luz," said King, walking out the door and closing them.

"Is Eda up?" asked Luz, looking at King.

"Who? Oh. That Eda. No, no. She is out like a light," replied King, chuckling before hearing the Owl Beast growl. "Oh, man. Can she snore."

"That didn't sound like her normal snoring," said Danielle, looking at the doors.

"Oh, no," said Luz, looking to the side. "I wanted to ask if I could borrow her staff but I know she needs her rest."

"Oh, I'm sure it's fine. It's fine. Just take it," said King, giving Luz Eda's staff before hearing screeching. "Well, there's your permission. Off you go."

"I know that screech," said Danielle, opening the doors and seeing the Owl Beast. "The Owl Beast!"

"King!" said Luz, looking at King. "Why didn't you say anything?"

"Wait," said King, seeing Danielle and Luz run over to the chest and grabbing an elixir.

"King, we need to change her back right now," said Danielle, looking at King. "And it looks like she's beginning to get low again on elixirs."

"Well, then I'll give Eda her elixir," said King, grabbing the elixir. "And you two can head to the game."

"Eda's elixirs come first," said Danielle, grabbing Luz's hand and leaving the room. "Make sure Eda drinks all of it."

"Oh, I will," said King, grinning mischievously.

"Hey guys," said Danielle, seeing Willow and Gus sitting on the couch. "A little change of plan. I'll drop you three off at the game but I have to get more elixir for Eda. Is that okay?"

"But you'll miss the game," said Gus, looking at Danielle.

"Eda's condition is more important to me," said Danielle, staring at Willow and Gus. "Please understand."

"Wait, Danielle…" said Luz, looking at Danielle.

"You three have fun at the game, okay," said Danielle, looking at Luz, Willow and Gus.

"Okay," said Willow, seeing how worried Danielle was about Eda. "We understand."

"Thanks, you guys," said Danielle, before lightly tapping Owlbert's forehead getting his attention. "Okay, Owlbert. We have a little mission. We'll be dropping Willow, Luz and Gus off at the game then we're heading to Mr. Elixir. Eda's getting low on elixirs. King should be getting Eda back to normal right now."

"Wait…" said Willow, pointing towards the ceiling. "Is Eda in…"

"Owl Beast form, yes," said Danielle, seeing Owlbert nod his head in understanding, before leaving the house and mounting Owlbert in staff form. "You guys ready?"

"Feel that power-to-weight ratio," said Willow, mounting Eda's staff.

"Boys, prepare to fly," said Gus, talking to his flags.

"I hope Owlbert can handle all four of us," said Danielle, positioning herself better.

"Next stop, Glandus High. Let's go," said Luz, slapping the staff. "Step on it, Owlbert."

"Eep!" said Danielle, as Owlbert flew off.

Taking off, the staff does a loop-de-loop, then runs into several trees. The quartet grunts and screams before hitting a tree head on. Willow and Gus fall directly into a bush. Luz's hood gets caught on a branch but was able to grab Danielle's hand before falling. Extending their hand, Danielle and Luz grab Owlbert before landing. Luz lands on top of Danielle, the impact leaving a bad scrape on Danielle's hand and a crack on Owlbert's head.

"Ow," said Danielle, rubbing her head before seeing a face full of black sports bra. "Luz... please put your shirt on."

"Oh my," said Luz, blushing and rushing over to grab her shirt. "Is everyone okay? Huh?"

"No no no-no-no! Owlbert! Oh, what have I done?" said Danielle, as Owlbert flew away.

Running after Owlbert, Danielle, Luz, Willow, and Gus chase after him. Danielle and Luz sees Owlbert fly into a foreboding cave. Stopping to catch their breaths, Danielle deeply sighs as she pushes back her hair slightly.

"Owlbert!" shouted Luz and Danielle, trying to catch their breath.

"Man, humans can run," said Gus, standing up straight. "Must be their dorsal fins."

"We don't have dorsal fins," said Danielle, before running towards the foreboding cave. "Come on. Owlbert needs us."

"He went through those trees. Come on," said Luz, heading towards the trees.

"We have to be careful," said Willow, stopping Danielle and Luz. "It's really easy to get lost in this part of the forest."

"This is Eda's palisman, Willow," said Luz, staring ahead. "She'll kill us if we don't get it back. Let's go."

"Okay," said Danielle, agreeing with Willow as she walks further into the foreboding cave. "Owlbert, please be okay."

"Wow. I keep stepping on a lot of crunchy twigs," said Willow, walking behind Danielle.

"Those are bones, Willow," said Danielle, looking forward. "Just don't look down."

"Okay," said Willow, staring ahead.

"This isn't any kind of forest I'm used to," said Luz, poking a spiderweb with the staff.

"So many spiderwebs," said Danielle, shuddering.

"This isn't a forest," said Willow, seeing Bat Queen's babies. "It's a nest."

"Hey there, it's been a while," said Danielle, bending down while smiling.

"Hey, I remember you. You're Bat Queen's babies," said Luz, staring at the Bat Queen's babies.

"Wait. The Bat Queen?" said Gus, backing away.

"I think I'd rather take my chances with Eda," said Willow, backing away as well.

"Uh, we're looking for a little owl and... There he is," said Luz, spotting Owlbert.

"Owlbert, thank goodness… wait, why do you look fearful of us?" asked Danielle, looking at Owlbert.

"Hello, small human," said Bat Queen, walking forward. "And half human."

"It's the..." said Willow, shakingly pointing at the Bat Queen.

"Bat Queen. I know. We kinda babysat her kids once. Don't worry. I got this," said Luz, walking forward. "Hiya, BQ. My, your hair is looking greasy. And your kids they're as hideous as ever."

"Luz," said Danielle, facepalming. "Then again, I probably wouldn't be much better."

"You know, that coulda gone worse," said Gus, letting go of Willow's arm.

"So... Owlbert ran away and I need to get him back. I'm just gonna grab him and we'll be on our way," said Luz, as the Bat Queen puts a claw on her chest. "Ah!"

"Luz!" said Danielle, darting forth only for the Bat Queen to stare at her. "Eep!"

"Once more," said Bat Queen, flying over to a perch. "Trials!"

"Huh?" said Danielle and Luz, staring at the Bat Queen.

"Show me you can be trusted," said Bat Queen, staring at Danielle and Luz.

"Trials?" said Gus, happily waving his flags.

"Danielle, Luz, the Bat Queen is well-known for her impossible trials," said Willow, placing her hand on Danielle's and Luz's shoulder. "I've never heard of anyone winning against her."

"But we have to get Owlbert back," said Luz, walking forward.

"We'll take on your challenges Bat Queen," said Danielle, walking forward as well.

"First trial, answer my riddle," said Bat Queen, staring more intently at Danielle. "I am neither witch nor demon, yet magic flows in my sight. Half of one world, I stand in the twilight. What are you?"

"Huh?" said Luz, confused.

"Heke?" squeaked Danielle, wondering why it was more geared towards her. "Luz, stop giggling."

"I never pegged the Bat Queen to be one for riddles," said Willow, quirking her eyebrow.

"Second riddle," said Bat Queen, staring intently at Luz this time. "A stranger in a strange land, yet marked by destiny. Small in stature, yet casting a large shadow. As the puppeteer plots the fall of a realm, what stands before the impending doom?"

"Oh… um…" said Luz, trying to think.

"These questions…" said Danielle, staring at Bat Queen. "Serve a purpose… wait, impending doom… fall of a realm?"

"Think on these. Can answer later," said Bat Queen, staring at Danielle and Luz before gesturing to a nearby grove in shadows. "Find shadowroot."

"Crude, this may pose a challenge," said Danielle, staring at the darkened grove. "Those herbs are extremely hard to find in the dark without a specific magical beast."

"Know what they look like?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle as they headed into the grove.

"If you're talking about the magical beast, it's this realm's version of a skunk, so no thanks," said Danielle, trying to remember what she read about the herb. "If it's the herb in general, besides digging it up, it has a unique smell. Pungent when exposed."

"Well, let's get digging," said Luz, before tripping on a branch. "Aah!"

It actually took quite a while to find said shadowroot. Danielle had to set off a Wood Glyph to make shovels for the both of them. But when trying to set off a Light Glyph, it was like the surroundings blotted the light out. Danielle knew the moment they found it when a sulfurous odor wafted in the air. The girls were gagging at the smell and the more they dug, the stronger the smell, making them want to retch.

"Apesta, apesta!" said Luz, her eyes watering. "Oh, haz que se detenga!"

"Śmierdzi, śmierdzi!" said Danielle, eyes watering as well. "Nigdy więcej... zapach... stał się gorszy..."

"I can smell it from here," said Gus, pinching his nose.

"Looks like they found it," said Willow, seeing a faint glow from the shadowroot.

"This is it?" said Luz, pinching her nose.

"Yup," said Danielle, recognizing the shadowroot from the book she read.

Before them, still pretty much attached to the rest of the other shadowroots was the herb itself. A tuber-like plant with a hard and rough outer skin as black as night, covered in tiny, sharp thorns that glow faintly in the dark. The girls had to dig a little deeper to get it out of the ground before Danielle set off another Wood Glyph to box it before running out of the grove.

"Okay, done," said Danielle, pushing the box of shadowroots towards the Bat Queen. "What a relief!"

"Estoy viva!" said Luz, trying to breath. "Ooh, it's still in the air."

"Next trial. Child, come here," said Bat Queen, gesturing Danielle over and whispering in her ear.

"Okay," said Danielle, confused while setting off a Light Glyph that shifted into various creatures.

"What comes to mind?" asked Bat Queen, staring at Luz.

"Um…" said Luz, staring at the shifting light animals as an image of what looked to be a shifting snake appeared in her mind. "String… Bean…? Wait, what was that?"

"Good," said Bat Queen, staring at Luz. "Give babies a bath."

"This doesn't sound as hard," said Danielle, looking at Luz.

"Anything would be better than digging up shadowroots again," said Luz, waving her hand in front of her nose. "It's in my nose."

"Hey, there sweeties. Don't worry, we'll be gentle," said Danielle, bending down only to realize moments later after giving the babies their bath. "Yet, you're not gentle with us. Ow! No biting."

"Agreed, no biting!" said Luz, dumping water over the babies. "Besides, I think Danielle would bite back."

"I would not!" said Danielle, only for the babies to back away towards Luz. "Luz… seriously. Then again, I did playfully bite Skye on the ear when I was young. But we were playing."

"Okay, Bat Queen. That's the last one. We've done all your chores. And we've proved our dedication to Owlbert," said Luz, as the babies flew towards the Bat Queen. "I think that is enough proof to show you," said Danielle, before bending down and extending her hand to Owlbert. "Owlbert, please… come back with us. Owlbert!"

"No! More trials. Last trial. You must face..." said Bat Queen, spreading her wings. "Me!"

"What?" said Danielle and Luz, before having to dodge the Bat Queen.

"Danielle! Luz!" said Willow and Gus, only for the babies to land on them. "… …"

Running through the forest, Danielle and Luz weave left and right, hoping to confuse the Bat Queen. Trying to catch their breaths, the Bat Queen was able to swat Luz towards Danielle. Setting off a Plant Glyph, Danielle tries to entangle the Bat Queen, only to see her fly upwards then back down towards them, with her claw out to strike. Dodging out of the way, Danielle holds her chest in pain.

"Why now?" said Danielle, as Luz pulled her into a run.

"Blinding Light!" shouted Luz, setting off a Light Glyph to blind the Bat Queen.

"Strong, must become stronger," said Bat Queen, clearing her vision before staring at Danielle and Luz. "You two… become stronger than what you were."

"What?" said Luz, staring at the Bat Queen.

"What are you talking about?" asked Danielle, staring at Bat Queen while holding her chest.

"Let it come forth," said Bat Queen, grabbing Danielle's hand.

"Danielle!" said Luz, only to be pinned underfoot. "No! Let go!"

"Luz!" shouted Danielle, as the Bat Queen gripped her hand tighter.

"Let it flow. Bring it forth," said Bat Queen, staring at Danielle intently. "Don't be afraid. Let it go."

"What are you…" said Danielle, before realizing what the Bat Queen was trying to do. "You're…"

"Focus. Concentrate," said Bat Queen, seeing a faint spark at the tip of Danielle's index finger. "Think of what you want and…"

"Huh…" thought Luz, feeling like she heard that from somewhere.

"It-it hurts," said Danielle, trying to grab what she believed was her magic. "I-I-I…"

"Danielle!" shouted Luz, seeing a trickle of blood coming from Danielle's mouth. "Stop! She can't handle it anymore."

"No. This is deciding point," said Bat Queen, staring at Luz. "Deciding factor in war. She must…"

"Aah!" screamed Danielle, as a stream of sky-blue magic shot forth, sparkling as it did so. "Mom…"

"Danielle!" shouted Luz, as Bat Queen released her only to be swatted away as Danielle was dropped, clutching her chest and coughing up a little blood. "Danielle…"

"No," said the Bat Queen, blocking Luz. "Only light still. Where other glyphs?"

"I-I-I…" said Luz, staring at the Bat Queen, fearfully. "What do you want from us?"

"Strength… power… for what is to come," replied the Bat Queen, staring intently at Luz. "You both have it. Both us glyphs, yet that one… glyphs are you, half human can use magic."

"So, what if Danielle has actual magic," said Luz, looking at the Bat Queen. "There's nothing wrong with her using the glyphs. It's just… … I'm having a hard time finding the other ones."

"The Titan…" said Bat Queen, staring at Luz.

"Is showing me but they're fuzzy, I can't make them out," said Luz, before looking at the ground. "I think the Titan favors Danielle more cause she's at least a witch on her mom's side. I'm just a human."

"You're both favored by Titan," said the Bat Queen, looking at Luz. "Make not mistake about it. Don't know why glyphs are not completely showing… but… you need them. Half human doesn't."

"I said…" said Luz, getting a little upset.

"You need glyphs. That is your magic," said the Bat Queen, staring at Luz. "The one magic you can learn. Half human needs to learn her magic. What lies within her."

"These trials…" said Luz, staring at the Bat Queen with tears beginning to form. "What are you not telling us? Is something going to happen…"

"Take Owlbert and go," said the Bat Queen, turning around. "And friends as well. Trials are over."

"But…" said Luz, as Owlbert flew onto her shoulders.

"Leave," said the Bat Queen, walking away. "But get stronger than once was. The both of you… and friends as well."

"…" said Luz, as the Bat Queen flew away before running over to Danielle. "Danielle… come on… wake up."

"Is Danielle, okay?" asked Willow, running over. "The tips of her hair…"

"The same color as her braid," said Luz, touching the tips of Danielle's hair. "I'm sorry we missed the game."

"Are you kidding? That was better than any grudgby match," said Gus, confusing Luz. "There were action-packed trials. I got to do my flag wave, and I'm slightly traumatized. Hooray!"

"Let's get Owlbert and Danielle home," said Luz, slightly chuckling.

As Owlbert went staff mode, Luz gently held Danielle as the quartet flew back towards the Owl House. Waving bye to Willow and Gus after they reached their destination, Luz gently placed Danielle on the couch before tending to Owlbert.

"And now you're a part of the boo‐boo buddy club," said Luz, placing a band aid on Owlbert's cracked head.

"Owlbert, why are you off the staff?" asked Eda, before Owlbert landed on her shoulder, warbling to her. "Luz took you to get ice cream? Aw, that's... a horrible lie. I can tell, Danielle is passed out on the… is her hair…"

"Yeah, we may have screwed up something," said Luz, staring at her hands that gripped her shorts. "And Danielle may be… I don't know, slowly becoming a full witch, I think."

"I don't think it works like that," said Eda, checking on Danielle. "She's coming to."

"Ow… wha…" said Danielle, weakly opening her eyes and staring around. "Did… we…"

"Easy now," said Eda, helping Danielle up before sitting down. "Care to explain."

"Danielle may have used her magic with…" said Luz, twiddling her index fingers. "Bat Queen's help."

"The Bat Queen?!" said Eda, staring at Luz. "You're telling me what happened."

"Kingy," said Danielle, pulling King into a cuddle before giggling.

"Ah, help," said King, as Danielle cuddled him.

"Fuzzy wuzzy," said Danielle, stuffing her face into King's fur. "Hehehe."

"Can we stop playing the scene with baby me?" asked King, embarrassed as the scene paused on the television. "I'm getting tire of hearing the fans cooing over me right there."

"I love these reactions videos," said Eda, rewinding the scene again. "They're welcome anytime to my house."

"At least the fans liked you," said Collector, his legs pulled in. "Looks like they didn't like me that much at the beginning."

"Except for Danny. She's the exception," said Luz, before thinking. "And maybe some other fans we haven't seen in those reaction videos."

"You… you need a hug Collector?" asked Danny, looking at Collector.

"Maybe…" replied Collector, gripping his sleeves before running towards Asteria. "Lady Asteria…"

"It's alright," said Asteria, soothingly rubbing Collector's cheek. "They don't know what they missing. You're a good kid. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

"Okay," said Collector, sniffing and rubbing his nose with his sleeves.

"Oh, this looks good," said Luz, spotting some soup on the table.

"Don't worry. I'm finishing up your guy's dinner," said Danielle, not noticing Luz eating some of the soup.

"Oh, my goodness," said Luz, spooning more of the soup in her mouth. "This soup is delicious."

"Huh…" said Danielle, turning around and seeing Luz eating the soup. "Ah, Luz, don't!"

"Why not?" asked Luz, eating another spoonful of soup. "Why are you even making two separate dinners to begin with?"

"That's milk soup that my dad taught me. It uses actual milk, not the lactose free ones," replied Danielle, seeing Luz blanch. "Plus… I've been craving it."

"I need my medicine," said Luz, running out of the kitchen and upstairs.

"Hey, kid," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "How you feeling?"

"Like a spout has been opened," replied Danielle, putting her hands behind her head and leaning forward. "And even if it's just a little trinkle, it feels like a lot is pouring out. And I mean a lot."

"Could your witch bloodline be really strong?" asked Luz, rubbing Danielle's back.

"I'd say too strong," replied Danielle, pale and breathing a little heavy. "Is my magic too big that my body can't handle it?"

"You're not going to puke, are you?" asked King, laying on Danielle's lap.

"No," replied Danielle, her voice a little shaky. "But it does make me wonder. Could it have been my magic that has been causing these chest pains all these years?"

"It's a possibility," replied Eda, looking at Danielle. "Not much is known about half witch half human."

"Lady Asteria?" said Collector, seeing Asteria staring at the pond leading to the main part of the mind where her daughter resides. "Are you okay?"

"I've been gone for six years," replied Asteria, hesitating to jump into the pond. "Six years. I know she hates me."

"What?" said Collector, looking at Asteria. "No, she doesn't. Danielle loves you. Like a lot."

"… …" said Asteria, staring at the pond.

"Aren't you going to see her?" asked Collector, looking at Asteria.

"… …" said Asteria, before walking away.

"Lady Asteria?" said Collector, following after Asteria. "Hey, wait up. Lady Asteria…"
