Chapter 1 The Meeting
It has been a year since the Red Grave City incident, Dante and Vergil have recently returned from The Underworld.
Dante is sitting down and eating pizza at his desk, while Vergil is standing in the centre of the room staring at him waiting for what his brother has to say to him. While Morrison, Lady and Trish are sitting on the couch just watching the two brothers just being awkward with each other, knowing the brothers are supposedly trying to have a serious talk about what transpired, a year ago.
"Dante! Are you going to speak what you wish to say, or are you just gonna shove your face with pizza, all evening!" says Vergil, getting tired of his brother's foolish behaviour.
Dante finished his slice of pizza and responded to Vergil, saying "Come on Verg. It's nearly been a year since I last ate a pizza, a man has needs." Morrison couldn't help but chuckle at Dante's remark while holding his cigar after a smoke.
Lady and Trish are not amused by any of this.
So Lady decides to say "Dante! just get to the point, and Vergil, don't try to kill Dante again, he still owes me money." she says in an annoyed tone.
This makes Dante annoyingly sigh, he then turns his head to say "Oh come on Lady, I just got back and already, you want to run me dry. Besides, did I not give you back Kalina Ann? Both of them in fact." Dante was remembering meeting Lady again after a year of borrowing Kalina Ann 2 to fight Vergil and his Familiars. What really ticked off Lady is finding out he also had the original Kalina Ann with him as well, which pissed off Lady even more. And to find out Nico made a secret gimmick for both the rocket launchers to become one devastating weapon behind Lady's back, Nico had a long earful from Lady for a while.
"She's right Dante. Oh and don't tell me what to do again, woman" said Vergil in a cold voice, in both agreeing and being annoyed by the daughter of the inhuman man he once partnered with, in the past.
Dante sighs and looks at Vergil, while folding his arms pondering what he was about to say earlier.
So it came back to him "Listen Vergil. You got a lot to atone for. Red Grave City, The Qliphoth, Temen-ni-gru." said Dante as he was talking very seriously to Vergil.
Vergil knows where this is going to go, since he and Dante spoke about it many times in the underworld over the past year.
"And lastly, ripping off your own son's arm, who you had no idea existed. And not just that, you still haven't told me who his Mother is." Said Dante, wondering the identity of who Nero's mother is.
"That's none of your business Dante." as Vergil avoids his brother's eyes.
"IT DAMN WELL IS MY BUSINESS! Nero is my nephew and your son. Listen Vergil, you have been avoiding my questions when asking about his mother. Do you even care about Nero or her?" Asked Dante, who is losing his cool with Vergil.
"I DO!" Shouted Vergil inrage, which would cause Lady and Trish to stand up, preparing to shoot Vergil as they have pointed they're guns at Vergil in case he attacks Dante. Morrison is playing it cool, since he has been in tough situations before, back when Dante used to go by the alias, Tony Redgrave, and when he was a broker working along with dangerous people.
"I may despise humanity, and my own. But Nero's mother was the only one I cared about, she was someone who would care for a broken fool, like me. Hence why I had to leave her, I didn't want to lose her like how we lost our Mother, Dante. But if I had known she was pregnant with Nero, I…" Vergil stumbled on his words, he never really put that much thought into it, until he found out Nero is his son.
Would he have stayed if he found out, or would he still disappeared into the night like he did back then, even if he had known. He wonders why he never considered these options, and why would he, all he has ever cared about in his life is obtaining more power, so would never be weak again.
"I never thought I would become a father. This is another crime I committed. If I had figured out Nero was son when we first met, I would have never ripped his arm off. But I never once thought about it, all I cared about was retrieving Yamato and surviving." says Vergil, as he comes to admit his sins.
"Also I was shocked to find out Nero grew up in an orphanage. It makes me wonder, what happened to Julia?" as Vergil would say this, thinking out loud. What has happened to Nero's Mother, while also confirming her name.
"Julia. So that's Nero's mom's name." said Trish as she and Lady put away their guns, releasing the atmosphere of the situation, calmed down.
"Julia, what is she like, Vergil?" asked Dante, believing Vergil would finally answer his questions that he has been asking for a long time.
Vergil would look up to see Dante, and would tell him "Julia, she is calm, compassionate, understanding, patient, isn't afraid of telling what's going on in her mind, and although she is kind, you do not want to get on her bad side." As he says this, he can't help but remember her smile, which made him smile.
Dante couldn't help but chuckle "You know, she sounds a lot like Kyrie." says Dante as he remembers her and Nero together doing the fortuna incident, after Nero defeated a false god created by the cult known as The Order Of The Sword.
"Kyrie, Nero's girlfriend. You told me about her, while we were in the Underworld." said Vergil, as realise that he and Nero have similar tastes in women, like father, like son.
"Well not just that, a few months ago, Nero and Kyrie got engaged." as Morrison gives the news to Dante and Vergil.
"Ha, hot damn, about time he popped the question to her. You hear that Verg, looks like at some point you're gonna be a grandfather." says Dante as he is happy to hear Nero and Kyrie are getting married soon, at some point in the future.
Vergil is happy as well, but can't help but think of feeling bad, since he has been absent in Nero's childhood. Vergil never got to see him grow up, is there any point in him being in Nero's life, even though he was never been in it to begin with, which made Vergil very guilty. Dante would notice Vergil is troubled, and just when he was about to ask him what's troubling him.
The sound of the phone on Dante's desk starts ringing, Vergil, Lady, Trish and Morrison are staring at Dante and the phone. Dante gives a sigh of annoyance knowing he has to pick it up, but is also hoping this is a job that could help pay the rent of the Devil May Cry Office, and is also hoping it's not Patty Lowell, because Dante missed her birthday party a year ago, and is worried she is going to unleashed hellfire on him. But Dante reaches to the phone and picks it up, hoping it's not Patty.
"Devil May Cry." says Dante as he speaks on the phone waiting for an answer, to whoever is calling him. "Hello, is this Mr Dante?" said a male voice speaking through the phone.
"It is. And who is this, if I may ask?" says Dante with a curious expression, as he feels like this client is different from the others.
So he lets the stranger speak. "My name is Yamamoto Nobushige, head of the Investigation Unit Section Three at the Ministry of National Affairs and Public Safety, from Japan." says the man who reveals himself as Yamamoto.
"Listen, I'm not interested in politics. So I'm just gonna…" as Dante was about to hang up, Yamamoto said something Dante couldn't ignore.
"We need your help, Son Of Sparda!". Dante looks at the phone all confused and annoyed, how does a Japanese politician know about him being Sparda's son?
"How do you know this?" asked Dante, who was shocked by this. "I know this, because of my connections with the Taimanins." Says Yamamoto.
The Taimanins are ninjas, but not just any ordinary ninjas or humans, but they are humans with the blood of demons coursing through their veins. "That's new, a politician having ties to demon hunting ninjas." says Dante, as he couldn't help but chuckle at this. "So, you do know of the Taimanins then." said Mr Yamamoto.
"I had a few run-ins with the Taimanins before. I even teamed up with them one time, hunting a tough Minotaur demon which could control both fire and lightning." said Dante, as he remembers how annoying, fighting that Minotaur was, tough bastard he was. But he was also impressed how skilled the Taimanins were, especially when most of them are beautiful ladies wearing skin tight bodysuits.
"So anyways, what's the job, Mr Yamamoto?" asked Dante, now curious what this job is. "To work with us, to finally kill Edwin Black, once and for all." said Mr Yamamoto through the phone.
"Edwin Black!" says a surprised Dante, as he stands up from his chair, which would shock Vergil and Trish as they also are aware of the name Edwin Black.
Edwin Black, The Vampire King, a powerful demon lord who is the CEO of a multinational corporation, but under the surface is the leader of a terrorist organisation with human and demon followers, along with advanced technology, both under the name Nomad.
Dante is no stranger to Edwin Black, since he and Black have met in the past, he even met Black's bodyguard as well.
"Yes Edwin Black, he must be stopped once and for all, will you help us?" asked Yamamoto through the phone.
"How much do I get paid for this" asked Dante, wondering how much this job is.
"A million." says Yamamoto, "A million, now we're talking." said Dante as he is now hooked on the job. Lady and Trish couldn't believe what they just heard, Dante got offered a huge jackpot of money, Morrison couldn't help but chuckle a bit, while coughing after a smoke.
"Oh, can I also bring along my brother Vergil, to help out" said Dante, which would shock Vergil who didn't ask to help. But it would also shock Lady because she was hoping to be joining along on the job, since the job offers a lot of money as well.
"Very well, Mr Dante. I'll be sure to contact a private jet for you and your brother." says Yamamoto San, but Dante reply "No need for that. My brother Vergil has a powerful sword that can open up portals, so we'll be there in no time. But all we need is a location to meet." which would surprise Yamamoto San, but at the same time is glad they and the others that are helping, can arrive at the same time. "The location of the meeting is Gosha Village, the home and headquarters of the Taimanins. I'll be sure to let them know of your arrival." says Mr Yamamoto.
"Good, meet you there soon, Yamamoto San." says Dante eagerly, as he now hangs up the phone. He walks over to where Ebony and Ivory are, on the counter of another table, where there are empty drinks.
"Dante, why did you decide to have me tag along with you, even though I didn't agree to it?" Asked Vergil, who was confused and annoyed by his brother's decision.
"Yeah I want to know as well, especially when it involves a huge pay off." says Lady, as she is also both confused and annoyed, with her arms crossed underneath her breasts.
"To answer your questions, first, you and I still need to talk. And second, Black is a tough demon lord, plus there's no telling what hidden power he has up his sleeves." says Dante, in a very serious tone.
"Who is Edwin Black? And judging by your reactions, he must be a powerful demon." asked Lady, who is out of the loop on this.
"Edwin Black, the Vampire King, is a powerful demon lord, who is rumoured to be immortal. He is also a CEO of a company on the surface, but is also the leader of a terrorist organisation along with human and demon followers, with advanced technology, both under the same name; Nomad." as Trish is answering Lady's question. For she has had a few runs with Nomad in the past, like Dante has.
"Very well." says Vergil, as he unsheathes Yamato and slashes the air, opening a portal.
"Let's get this over with." as he turned his head to look at Dante.
"Hey Ladies, and Morrison, can I trust you guys to keep an eye on the shop a bit longer for me, until me and Vergil get back." looking at his trusted old friends.
"Of course my friend." says Morrison as chucked a bit, for he knows Dante hasn't changed one bit.
"Okay, but you better be back soon, Dante." said Trish, for she knows how stubborn the Sons of Sparda can be.
"You still owe me money, Dante. You better pay up some of it, after the job." said Lady, as she reminds Dante of the debt he still owes her.
Dante looks at Lady and shrugs "Sorry Lady, but this is mine and Vergil's gig. Don't expect to get paid." as he and Vergil go to the portal, as it closes behind them.
Japan,
Gosha Village,
somewhere in the Kanto region.
Three students are walking in the streets of Gosha Village, talking about something of importance. The three are Fuuma Kotaro leader of the Taimanin Task Force who was also nicknamed One-Eye Fuuma, Aishu Hebiko and Uerhara Shikanosuke, they were talking of what transpired during the event of protecting the "Pro Nomad/UFS'' Politician, not only of being attacked by Demon Mercenaries who wanted to kill Kannazuki Sora, but there was also an attack by two individuals who look like Yatsu Murasaki and Mizuki Yukikaze. This would lead to others not trusting the Taimanins anymore, and are trying to shut them down, so they are trying to get to the bottom of this, to clear their names.
Fuuma is also called to a meeting with the higher ups along with others to discuss what's next and what actions they need to take.
Just as Fuuma was about to say something, a portal opens, causing them to take battle stances in readiness. And out of the portal came Dante and Vergil, who had looked around the surroundings of the area, and Dante would say "What the hell is this! I was expecting Gosha Village to be more Ninja-like, or did we end up in the wrong place?" as he looks at Vergil.
"Foolishness, whenever I use Yamato to travel, I never get a location wrong, little brother." says Vergil, in an annoyed tone at his brother's remark.
"HEY, WHO ARE YOU GUYS?" shouted the young Japanese man with one of his eyes closed. Dante and Vergil would turn their heads, to finally notice the three students who were in they're fighting stances.
Dante couldn't help but chuckle "Hey kids, aren't you going to be late for school or something. But since you are here, you wouldn't happen to know where we can find Gosha or Taimanins anywhere?" as he asked them, the three would think of the two men's odd behaviours and the fact they came out of a portal, would only mean "The both of you are not humans are you" said Hebiko as her legs turn into Octopuses legs, and would try to attack Dante and Vergil, but luckily the brothers would quickly dodge the attacks.
"It would seem you children are no ordinary humans as well" as Vergil reaches for Yamato, but as he was about to Dante reaches out his hand to stop his brother attacking the students, and would speak "Which would mean we are in the right place, and that you're no ordinary students. You're Taimanins, human ninjas with demonic power, am I correct." as Dante would look to the side of the tree and say "I know you're there, you can come out now Shiranui."
And out came a beautiful japanese woman who is wearing a sexy black teachers uniform with a bunny themed ribbon on her head, and has a huge bust which is a man's wet dream. Her name is Mizuki Shiranui, mother of Mizuki Yukikaze.
"It's been awhile mister Dante, and you must be his brother Vergil. Yamamoto San told us about your soon to be arrival." Dante couldn't help but chuckle at Shiranui's comment, it would seem this Yamamoto guy sure knows how to work fast.
"Pardon me Shiranui Sensei, but who are these two?" asked Shikanosuke who was still cautious of the two strangers.
"Oh yes, allow me to introduce you to the Sons of the Sparda, the one wearing the red coat is Dante, the Legendary Devil Hunter, and the other one is his brother Vergil." says Shiranui, who has answered Shikanosuke.
"Sparda! As in The Legendary Dark Knight Sparda, these two are his sons." says a surprised Fuuma, who has heard the tales of Sparda, a demon who rebelled against his own kind to protect mankind.
"How do you know this woman Dante?" asked Vergil, wondering how the two know each other.
"My name is Mizuki Shiranui, mister Vergil. And to answer your question, me and two other taimanins worked with your brother Dante in the past, we were hunting a powerful demon that happened to be the same target of ours." as she answers Vergil's question of how she and Dante had met.
Dante then looks at three Taimanin students, and then asks "And what about you three, what's your names?" the three then look at each other, and then the short femboy would say "My name is Uerhara Shikanosuke, nice to meet you two.'' Then the green haired girl introduces herself next "My name is Aishu Hebiko… Oh and sorry for attacking you earlier" she says as she is apologising for earlier.
"Huh don't sweat it, I already forgiven you." said Dante as he reassured her that he doesn't hold a grudge towards her. He then looks at Fuuma "And you?" he asks "I'm Fuuma Kotaro, the commander of the Taimanin Task Force." as Fuuma introduces himself.
"Aren't you a bit young to be a commander, child?" says Vergil, who is sceptical of Fuuma.
"Fuuma, maybe young Vergil. But from time and time again, he has proven to be a great leader and strategist, this helped us to defeat Black." said Shiranui as she tries to reassure Vergil. But that just made him more sceptical "If he and his teammates have defeated him before. Then why isn't Black dead?" As he asked this, Fuuma responded in an annoyed voice "Because if we would have killed him, someone would have taken his place.".
"Really, the Underworld has many Demon Lords, Kings and Rulers. There have always been those that have taken someone else's place, it's nothing new." says Vergil. "YOU DON'T THINK I DON'T KNOW…" shouted Fuuma, until Vergil cut him off, saying in a cold voice "Don't talk over me boy! I haven't finished what I was going to say. Edwin Black is a force to be reckoned with, he has influence in both the Human World and the Underworld, with many followers from both. If you have defeated him, spared his life and humiliated him, there might be a chance he will do everything in his power to make you and your loved ones suffer in a never ending eternal nightmare." "VERGIL! That's enough. Fuuma thought he was doing the right thing." says Shiranui trying to calm the situation down "I know. But the mistake of a fool will reap what they sow. Trust me, I know" says Vergil, looking at Yamato, reminiscing the time he foolishly challenged the Demon King Mundus and lost, being tortured and becoming Nelo Angelo, haunted by his nightmares of trauma and weakness.
Dante would notice Vergil is speaking from experience, so he would walk to Vergil and ask "Vergil, are you speaking…" "NOT NOW DANTE!" shouted Vergil, which puts everyone on high alert, cautious of what's about to come next. "I would rather not speak of it. Not now. Not while we have things to do." said Vergil, back in his cold calm voice. Fuuma, Hebiko and Shikanosuke would wonder what just took place, did something happen to Vergil a long time ago that made him this way. They chose to bite their own tongues knowing if they asked, it would just escalate things again. But Vergil is right, they have a meeting to go to.
"Yeah, sorry about my brother guys, he's just got a lot going on at the moment. But mind giving us directions to where the meeting point is, to meet the others?" Dante asks Shiranui. "Yes of course. Originally I was going to guide Fuuma since he was late, but sure I'll guide you two as well." says Shiranui as she walks in front. Followed by Dante, Vergil and Fuuma, who would give a wave to two of his best friends, and as he follows the three he couldn't help but think of Vergil's words echoing in his head, wondering if he really has made the right choice.
When they reached the Gosha Academy, they entered and made their way through the halls of the school, eventually reaching the headmasters office. As the four entered the room, they found the Leader of the Taimanins and Headmistress, Igawa Asagi. Along with her are Mr Yamamoto and three strangers. One of them is a Japanese male agent who is a part of an organisation, another being a Cyborg Ninja who resembles a wanted fugitive, and finally the legendary Dragon Ninja.
"Ah it seems you have arrived perfectly in time, Sons of Sparda." said Asagi, as she looks at her clock on the wall.
"Agh, that's good. I'll take it that you're Miss Asagi Igawa." Dante would then look at the other three. "And who are these guys?" as he asks.
Yamamoto would say "Since I'm the one who invited you, and them, I'll be the one to introduce them to you." He would start with the agent. "This is mister Joryu, an agent of the secret government organisation known as the Daidoji Faction." next he would then introduce the Cyborg. "The cyborg is named Raiden. A combat military cyborg ninja, who has exposed the crimes of Desperado, World Marshal and Senator Steven Armstrong. But at the cost of making himself a wanted fugitive.". Then finally the male Ninja in black "And finally this is…'' as Yamamota tries to finish his sentence, Vergil interrupts and says "The Dragon Ninja, Ryu Hayabusa. We have met before." as they make eye contact. "It's been a long time, Vergil. I heard rumours that you died a long time ago. But it would seem you're still alive." says Hayabusa "I was on the verge of death. But I survived in the end." said Vergil in a cold voice.
"Well it's nice to see you two getting along." said Dante sarcastically. "Are you sure about that? Hayabusa and your Brother look like they're about to kill each other!" said Raiden, since he knows the face of someone who wants to kill you. "We're getting off topic here. Lets focus on this meeting." says Joryu, reminding everyone of the task at hand. "Yes, Joryu San is right. Fuuma, Shiranui, Vergil and Dante, may you take a seat, as we may start this meeting." says the Taimanin Leader. The four would then sit on a couch opposite Raiden, Joryu and Hayabusa, as there is a table in between them. Asagi would then stand up from her desk and pick up a remote to turn on a holographic projector, to show a flow of information and screenshots of what had transpired in the past few months. Such as the battle between the Task Force, Nomad, Black, Astaroth and The King Of The Death Wraiths, at a UFS military base. And the other being recent, protecting a "Pro Nomad" Politician, with an attack of Demonic Mercenaries led by an Oni named Spinel, and an attack by two Taimanins there. But it also labels another picture of the same Taimanins, but on a mission with other ones as well, but in the same timeframe as the events that had happened.
As Fuuma and the 5 guests had read and processed this information, Fumma would say "This timeframe of the pictures and events are at the same time! How can Murasaki Sensei and Yukikaze be in two places at the same time?", "What are they, some kind of doppelgangers?" asks Dante, as he has faced demonic doppelgangers in the past. Vergil would say "Interesting, not only have you and your team faced Black, but also The King Of The Death Wraiths and Astaroth." as he has heard of them, when he was gathering information on demons and about both his and Dante's late father Sparda in the past.
"Sorry to interrupt. But listen, I faced criminal organisations in the past. But demons, I don't believe in that kind of stuff. And also how can you two be Sparda's Son, he doesn't exist." said Joryu, who didn't believe any of this. "Then why are you here then?" asked Raiden, who is wondering why an ordinary agent is with them on this job. Dante would stand up and summon the Devil Sword Dante in his hand, which would surprise everyone in the room, even making Joryu surprised as well, but at the same time keeping it cool. Dante would make his Devil Sword disappear after that, he would then show a cheesy smirk and would then say "You believe in the supernatural now, Joryu." Joryu is momentarily speechless, but then responds "Yeah…" Dante would then sit back down, which would have Shiranui say "That's new, whatever happened to your other sword, the Rebellion?" to which he would reply "Well you see a year ago, an event happened which was caused by my brother." jestering to Vergil, who is annoyed by Dante. "And we were battling each other, he would then defeat me and in the process shatter my sword as well, including sending me into a coma for a month. But after waking up and got my Dad's Sword, I would then stabbed myself with a fragment of Rebellion, absorbed it and the Devil Sword Sparda, which would then gave me a new demonic power called the Sin Devil Trigger and along with that, I end up creating a new Devil Sword that also bears my own name.". Everyone is just staring at him and Vergil.
"You fought each other, and you stabbed yourself as well, why?" asked Fuuma, who was weirded out by this conversation. "Well me and Vergil have had a sibling rivalry since we were kids, and there were times we tried to kill each other. Also I've been stabbed and shot many times before, by demons, badass babes, and even family members, including Vergil. And to be honest I'm just used to it by now." said Dante as he was just crossing his arms. "And besides, I'm not the only one who stabbed themself, Vergil stabbed himself with the Yamato as well, and became two separate beings." "That's enough Dante!" said Vergil, who is getting more annoyed by his brother, for bringing up the past.
"We're getting off topic here. Asagi, the information says the two Taimanins were the ones who attacked a former Pro-Nomad Politician. But yet, they were on a mission with other Taimanin as well at the same time during this. Do you think Nomad has some kind of cloning technology that we don't know about?" says Ryu Hayabusa, knowing it is the only logical conclusion. "Well Ryu Hayabusa, it's one of the only leads we have, if they are making clones of us somehow they're doing a good job at making us look bad." said Asagi, who is aware of how bad this would ruin they reputation with they're allies and the Japanese Government. "Well, we are partly involved with exposing Nomad's corruption, along with Momochi and Astaroth. So obviously they are trying to take us down with them, if that's the case." said Fuuma, remembering what led to the battle between the Task Force and Nomad at the Military base, along with Astaroth and The King Of The Death Wraiths.
Raiden would then ask Yamamoto a question. "So not only do you need us to help you to kill Black. But you also need us to clear the Taimanins names.". Yamamoto would then respond "Clearing the Taimanins names is merely the first step in this war against Black. After that, I have this feeling that this storm is going to get a lot worse. In order to win, we're going to need all the help we can get." Shiranui stands up and walks to Asagi and Yamamoto, turns around to face Fuuma, Dante, Vergil, Hayabusa, Raiden and Joryu. "Yamamoto San is right, this isn't a war between Taimanins and Nomad anymore. Will you help us stop Black and Nomad, and to help prove The Taimanins and my daughter Yukikaze's innocents" said Shiranui asking the five guests. They would think and Dante would respond "Okay, what's the plan?"
Nomad Facility,
Tokyo Kingdom
Black is walking in a hallway filled with test tubes and in them are naked Taimanin clones and mutated monsters. Along with him is his bodyguard the Hell Knight Ingrid, who is loyal to her master to the end.
"The Clones have been proven useful. Soon the Taimanins will lose trust from the Japanese Government and their allies" said Black as he finds amusement in Taimanins losing trust and becoming the world's enemies.
"Yes, indeed Lord Black. But what about the scientist who helped us create the Clones and the BOWs? I feel like he has his own agenda." said Ingrid agreeing with her master. But would also share doubts about the scientist they have partnered up with.
"I understand your concern, Ingrid. But do not worry once the Taimanins are wiped out, he will outlive his usefulness.' said Black with a smirk, knowing what to do with traitors.
As the facility door opens they meet up with a scientist with shades and blonde hair, who is testing out a subject that is fighting a monster, as blades clashes between the two, another monster appears behind the subject and stabbed her, the other would then slash and cut off her head which led to a bit of blood splash against the glass, that the scientist was observing the test subjects through. "Another Failure, disappointing." as the Mysterious Scientist was watching and writing all this down on his clipboard.
The scientist would then notice Black and Ingrid in the room. "Ah, Edwin Black, how may I help you?" as he turns around.
