Chapter seven:
Undyne is about to question things before taking a good look at Sans. "Okay. That makes sense." She sighs softly to herself.
"Hello Alphys!" Sans greets and Frisk hopes that Undyne won't get mad at being called another name. "The human got you something!" He hands over the bone which Undyne takes.
"Thanks. Come inside I guess." Undyne disappears inside so Sans heads confidently inside.
Frisk swallows back her fear and heads inside. She thinks that if she can do this then she can face the king of monsters himself. She closes the door behind herself to be polite.
Undyne places the bone in a drawer of similar presents then closes it. She turns to the two. "Okay." She stares at Sans. "What is your plan with this?"
"Well I thought that we could hang out. Perhaps you two could even become friends!" Sans explains proudly as he puffs out his chest. "Mweh heh heh heh!"
Frisk just smiles hoping that it doesn't look awkward.
"Fine. I suppose we can try." Undyne lets out a breath making the air a bit less tense letting Frisk relax.
"Oh! Oopsie doopsie!" Sans suddenly gasps. "Excuse me. I have to go to the bathroom. You two have fun!" He suddenly jumps out the window.
Undyne and Frisk watch him leave knowing that it's just a fake excuse. They turn to each other as they decide to just ignore that right now.
"So." Undyne taps her foot a little. "Go ahead and have a seat." She heads to the stove to make some tea based on the tea kettle.
Frisk heads to said table sitting at the chair there. She is brought a cup of tea which smells like sweet flowers.
"This is the kings favorite." Undyne explains so Frisk tries some careful to not burn her tongue.
The flavor is like Camomile tea though with hints of what tastes like honey and lemon.
Frisk may not be much of a tea drinker however she's had a few cups of it before. "This is good." She hums carefully sipping up more.
"I knew you'd like it!" Undyne pours herself a cup and sits across from Frisk. "So. What do you hope to gain by going through the underground? Your freedom no doubt." She's very right to the point.
Frisk supposes that she should have expected this from the fish monster. She places her cup on the table with both hands around it. "Actually. I honestly do want to free monsters." Her honesty surprises Undyne. "Also. I believe that human techniques for dealing with mental health may be able to help Sans. We might be able to fix it. Maybe even have him be able to focus on one persona."
Undyne is quiet for a few moments. Almost as if digesting this information. "It would be nice to only know one Sans and not have to know who he is in the moment." She admits before glancing down to her cup. "But you do know that monsters and humans are different. What might work for you humans might not work for us."
"I know. I still think it's worth a shot." Frisk finds Undyne stays quiet for a moment. She blinks at the monster who stares down then after a moment smiles.
"Heh. You've got guts kid." Undyne looks up giving Frisk a grin of sharp teeth. "I like that. How about we put it to the test?"
"Sure." Frisk is nervous about what she's agreeing to however she thinks it's better than backing out now. She yelps as a spear hits the table breaking it in half.
The tea cups go flying with one smashing against the wall and the other on the floor.
"Then let's get started! Undynes cooking lessons!" Undyne announces hopping onto the broken table. "Use the spear to pick what we cook! Fridge for ice cream and me for spaghetti." She watches as Frisk carefully picks up the spear only to point it at Undyne before dropping it. She can tell that Frisk doesn't want to accidentally hurt her; also that Frisk has a feeling that making ice cream with Undyne isn't what it sounds like likely as it'd be soup. "Spaghetti it is!" She picks Frisk up by the back of her shirt making her dangle in the air as if she was on hands and knees. She leaps over to the oven area landing safely in front of it before setting Frisk down.
Frisk still feels her heart slightly racing from the spear into the table. She gets to her feet as Undyne quickly puts out stuff for spaghetti out.
"Let's get this started!" Undyne actually sounds pumped to do this making Frisk a bit more excited. She rolls out some tomatoes. "Time to make the sauce! Smash those tomatoes! Like you would smash your enemy!" She encourages with the same excitement.
Frisk looks to the tomatoes before raising a fist. She slams it down only managing to dent the tomato halfway down.
"Yeah!" Undyne cheers as if this is giving her adrenaline. "Show them who is boss!"
Frisk chuckles a little then tries to smash the same tomato again. Her fist this time managing to fully squish the weakened tomato.
"That's it!" Undyne turns to a group of three tomatoes only to easily smash all three in one fist. "Yeah!" She sounds so pumped like an excited child making Frisk chuckle. "Now that we have the sauce." She hands Frisk a towel to clean up. "Let's get the noodles ready." She grabs a pot filling it with water then putting it on the stovetop. She picks Frisk up holding her so she can reach the knobs; which are on the back of the stove. "Turn up the heat!"
Frisk turns the heat up to medium heat.
"Crank that heat! Make the pot feel the burn! Treat it like the enemy needs a reminder who is boss!"
Frisk keeps going just now realizing that this stovetop can go to much higher heat than human ones. She keeps turning it not sure how safe this is.
"Yeah! Keep going!" Undyne encourages even though the water is starting to boil from the heat.
Frisk can even feel the heat though luckily she's held in a way that it doesn't burn her. She keeps going not wanting to upset Undyne. She hears a click that makes her pause.
Undyne suddenly pulls her away and shields her as the stovetop explodes. She shakes off the hit however her home is now burning all around them. "Great job kid!" She looks so proud as Frisk looks wide eyed at the burning home. She gets Frisk out of there placing her on the ground outside.
Papyrus comes rushing over at seeing them. "Are you two okay!?"
"We're fine!" Undyne tells Papyrus proudly as Frisk, though a little shaken, nods in agreement. "The kid has some serious skill!" She looks at Frisk with a grin. "Don't worry about the house kid. It'll get rebuilt. This isn't the first time this happened." Her words do help calm Frisk down from the guilt of burning the house down. She turns back to Papyrus as does Frisk.
Papyrus looks happy as though he knew Frisk could do it.
"By the way what happened to Sans?" Frisk inquires realizing he's not anywhere to be seen.
"Oh. Sans disappeared to change personas." Papyrus informs them and they leave it at that. "Until your house is rebuilt you can stay with me and Sans."
"Thanks Paps." Undyne mentions gratefully. "Well human." She turns to Frisk who blinks up at her. "I'll tell the other guards to not get in your way. I guess you're not like other humans like I thought."
"Thank you." Frisk blinks gratefully up at her.
"Well." Undyne gives a look to her burning house. "Might as well head off for now. Maybe we'll see you again kid." She starts to walk off.
Papyrus gives Frisk a thumbs up before hurrying after Undyne.
Frisk looks to the burning house one last time too before she continues on her journey. She gets back to the area she came from to try to help her get further into the underground. She walks on with determination to make it through this.
A small figure watches her from the shadows before quickly disappearing.
Frisk makes it through pretty good and soon steps into a place that has such high heat. She marches on glancing down a little scared at the lava below. She turns away from it to try to not think about it. She just is grateful that she's not burning alive or anything. She swears it just feels like a heatwave would on the surface. She reaches a spot with a spot to chat a drink of water. She stops there to get herself a cup of water which feels great.
"Human!"
Frisk turns seeing Undyne hurrying towards her dressed in full armor. She can also notice Undyne sweating heavily.
Undyne slows down panting heavily. "Armor... Hot..." She pants out before collapsing to the ground.
Frisk quickly fills up a cup of water and pours it onto Undyne's head to cool her off. She quickly grabs a cup of water to also give to Undyne to drink.
Undyne gets up feeling a bit better. "Whew. Thank you human." She gratefully takes the cup chugging the water before continuing. She just tosses the cup off into the lava without a care. "I almost completely forgot something." She admits now that she's okay again. "You're gonna go see Alphys. Right?"
Frisk nods her head wondering what this is about.
"Could you give her this for me?" Undyne hands Frisk a small box. "I wanted to return it to her. Thanks. Now I gotta go talk to a bunch of guards." She quickly runs off with that.
Frisk glances to the box in her hand. She puts it into her inventory for now and continues on her way. She walks up to a pause as she comes up to a large building. She can't go around it so she supposes that she'll have to go inside. She heads to the entrance stepping inside. She finds that it is dark except for the glow of a large screen. She moves around glancing to the screen only to find that it is following her. She looks around for a camera not being able to see any in the dark. She carefully steps further into the lab only to pause when the lights suddenly switch on.
A yellow dinosaur looking monster in a white lab coat steps out from a door. "O-Oh my. Oh m-my. How c-could I h-have forgotten." She mutters to herself playing with her hands as if nervously fidgeting. "I-I need to mend t-this right away." She turns starting to walk in the direction of Frisk only to freeze at seeing her.
Frisk raises a hand to wave hello making the monster fall back onto her butt with a squeak. "Sorry." She offers her hand to help the monster up. "I didn't mean to scare you."
The monster hesitates a moment before taking Frisks hand letting her help her up. "I-It's okay." She tells Frisk as they let go of each other now that she's standing again. "I-I just d-didn't expect you here s-so soon."
"It's alright." Frisk gives an assuring look. "Are you Alphys? I've heard a lot of good things about you."
"H-Have y-you?" Alphys questions looking a little embarrassed. "I d-didn't think t-that'd be what w-would happen."
Frisk gives a smile of assurance seeing the heavy self doubt in Alphys's eyes. "Well I did."
Alphys blinks as if just thinking of something. "O-Oh no."
"What?"
"You c-can't be h-here!" Alphys's words get a confused look from Frisk. She fidgets with her own hands more than before. "I-I may have m-made a big m-mistake. Y-You see I m-made this entertainment r-robot quite a-awhile ago. Recently I-I gave him a-an upgrade to detect h-humans to t-target them. F-For the good o-of the underground." She takes a breath. "I-I tried to turn it o-off, before you'd g-get here, however it d-didn't exactly g-go as it w-was supposed to... Now h-he may be a r-robot with a heavy t-thirst for b-blood."
Frisk feels her heart drop into the pit of her stomach at hearing this. She swears to herself in her head because this is most certainly not what she wanted.
"Welcome ladies and gentleman!" A voice echoes around them and Alphys suddenly looks scared.
"O-Oh n-no."
Frisk doesn't like that look on her. She jumps back as the wall suddenly breaks. She looks wide eyed as a rectangular robot wheels out between her and Alphys. Her hands slight tremble at the sight. She can reason with things that are alive... But a blood thirsty robot has no chance of being reasoned with.
"Welcome to the Mettaton show! With our very special guests!"
Well, here we go. Frisk figures to herself.
