"Thank you for meeting me on such short notice everyone!" Sirzechs said cheerfully the moment he sat down in the meeting room with his fellow Satans.
"Hey, Zerchy~." Serafall Leviathan said back, equally smiling.
"You're in a... disturbingly good mood?" Falbium couldn't help but note with a raise eyebrow.
"Did... something good happen?" Ajuka was equally perplexed by his best friend's genuine happy disposition, rather than his usual calm smile he used to face everything. Not that Sirzechs didn't have his moments of overexcited joy, but they seemed to happen less lately, so this was a pleasant surprise.
"Grayfia is likely pregnant. Maybe." Sirzechs grinned happily back.
"Wait, really?" Serafall paused, yet smiled in surprise at the good news.
"Congratulations." Falbium smiled back.
"I'm happy for you." Ajuka added.
"Yeah, I was drunk and used the Power of Destruction on her, at the probability of her not getting knocked up, so she ended knocked up." Sirzechs said casual. "I'm gonna bring her over to your lab later to check, Ajuka."
"Wait, what?" Falbium blinked, mirror how thrown off all the Satans now.
"EEEEH!?" Serafall shouted.
"Errr, Sirzechs..." Ajuka looked at his friend nervously.
"Grayfia is fine, of course. Even liked it." Sirzechs said, looking wary for a moment. "Which is something we have to be carefully about." He said quickly under his breath. "So anyways!" The cheerful grin was back. "I asked you all for this meeting, because I would like to make a request. An experiment really."
"I should use the Sitri Clan Trait while having sex with So-tan to knock her up." Serafall nodded seriously.
"No. Well yes, not toward your sleeping with your sister, but maybe Clan Traits should be used more during procreation?" Sirzechs thought, and Ajuka made a note to check if this was a viable option for the devil fertility issue. "Either way no. My request is that I wants us to switch jobs for a year."
""...Huh?"" The other Satans collectively said.
"I'll take Falbium job as Head of the Military Affairs, Ajuka will take over as Head of Foreign Affair, Falbium will take over Internal Affairs, and Serafall takes over the R&D Department." Sirzechs said, smiling at the idea.
"So... I and Sirzechs will switch, while Serafall and Ajuka will switch?" Falbium asked trying to understand the situation.
"Zerchy! Why do you want to put me in a cold lab!? My place is in front of the camera! In front of people!" Serafall whined.
"...Sirzechs, have I done something to upset you?" Ajuka asked out of the blue, making the other two Satan look at him thrown off.
"What? No, why would you say that?" Sirzechs blinked at his friend's words.
"Clearly you as the head of the military wouldn't need to do anything beyond show up, and that would scare anyone at our borders. In fact, it might be seen as a war preparation move, if you show up too much." Ajuka noted in horror to himself, before looked back at Sirzechs. "And if you show up minimally, it's basically you having a vacation."
"Waaah! That's not fair!" Serafall shouted.
"Serafall will also not have much work to do, so that's basically a vacation for her." Ajuka continued.
"Yaaaaaay!" Serafall pumped her fist into the air. "Wait. Are you saying I can't make up weapons or cool gadgets?" She asked giving Ajuka the stink-eye.
"You could finally get those Magical Girl items and gadgets you kept pestering Ajuka for." Sirzechs offered, to which Serafall smiled with stars in her eyes.
"You're not allowed inside my personal lab!" Ajuka quickly interjected.
"Zerchy, you're the best!" A mischievously smile came to her face, which she covered with her hand. "There are so many naughty items I'm going to create. Like clothes dissolving mists and magical AI wand. Hehehehe~."
"So, it would just be the two of us working?" Falbium said pointing at himself and Ajuka. "That's not fair."
"It would be me handling everything, while more or less having you as a secretary to impliment the details via the paperwork and bureaucracy." Ajuka clarified, to which Sirzechs didn't object. "Again, did I do something to upset you, Sirzechs?"
"So wait, I'm going to be doing the paperwork for all of us? I feel this is targeted at me!" Falbium cried out.
"Falbium, due to your laziness, you're the most efficient of us." Sirzechs said back. "That's why I wanted to see how you'd the paperwork and the details of the governing systems."
"That hurt. I'd like to say I'm more aware for needed breaks for my mental health." The Satan Asmodeus pouted.
"And Ajuka," Sirzechs turned to his friend. "No, this isn't me punishing you. Rather placing you as the Satan of Foreign Affairs is rather a move to divert attention to what I really wish for you to do. Along with Falbium, I want you to gether evidence on which Pillar Families have been secretly supporting the Old Satan Faction and any spies they have. Not the obvious ones we know about, but the ones hidden by the Great King Faction, or those unwittingly aiding them under the Great King Faction's orders."
The three Satans blinked at direct the conversation pivoted to.
"Oh?" A interested gleam entered Serafall's eyes. "We're actually gonna start fighting back? What about having them around as a 'moderating force' and all that?"
Sirzechs shook his head. "We have been acting with the soft approach for far too long with them. Its one thing to not trample on tradition, but its another when tradition is being used to stifle and restrict us from helping our people. More than that, the younger generation needs a better world. Sairaorg Bael isn't rare example of what happens to devils that are born weak, or not having the 'right' power. Also the regulation on Evil Pieces and their uses will be modified.
"Once upon a time, we might have excused how underhandedly they were used due to our population problem, but that's not the case anymore. A devil heir sneaking into foreign, neutral or worse, allied territory and forcibly reincarnating people from there, is not helping our position in trying to make peace a more real thing, rather than keeping up a cold war peace indefinitely." He gleam of viciousness and determination sparked in his eyes. "Besides, if the Old Satan Faction reacts like we'd expect them to, then fine. Let's play by their 'might make right' rules, in case they forgot why we hold our titles. And as for the Great King Faction, if Zekram wants to object, he needs to remember politics only exist because we are tolerant."
Ajuka, Serafall and Falbium couldn't help but smile and nod.
There were some points were Sirzechs was too idealistic and optimistic on how thing would go with this new change, but there was an renewed energy in the Satan's spirits, as they were swept up by Sirzechs' motivating words and so they got to work.
Only for one of them to snap out of it.
"Wait, you're still throwing all the paperwork at me!" Falbium shouted.
That visit by Lucifer ended suddenly with Issei having to take Asia to hang out with Rias, as they couldn't not stay home after lunch. His parents were loud when they were passionate. He really did not need to learn that.
Over the next few days Issei found himself accosted by Rias almost every moment in school and mostly out of school. It only made the rumors about him having seduced or blackmailed her even worse.
Asia seeing this, feeling left out, also seemed to stick to Issei even more, wanting to hang out with Issei as much as Rias does. The amount of hateful and jealous looks Issei was subjected to was slightly starting to worry him.
When it reaches the point where the Kendo Club President would intensely him about "having seduced innocent girls", he would just give up and run away, to disappear from everyone's eyes for a while during lunch break.
"Honestly, isn't this a bit too much." Issei said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry, Issei." Asia said with a small pout, sitting next to him.
"Ehehehe, sorry, Issei." Rias said bashfully, sitting on the other side of him.
"It's not your fault, Asia." He said with a gentle smile. "It is your fault, Rias." He turned to Rias with a deadpanned look.
"Hey! You're only nice to Asia. This treatment is unfair!" Rias protested with a pout.
The three were currently sitting on the large side branch of a tall tree, obscured by the leaves.
There were a few students passed by where they were, not noticing them. Even those looking for Issei, like the Kendo Club girls. Thankfully people's tendency not to look up was helping the trio hide.
"Sooo~ Can you tell us about more Servants? You said Minamoto no Raikou was a woman, with, a-hem, 'distinct' features." Rias said.
For a while now, Issei had been telling Rias and Asia about the heroes he met on his journey in lieu of going into the details of said journey.
"Yeeeeah," Issei looked away, with an awkward laugh. "She was very mothering to Ritsuka, and really disapproved of me. At least at first."
"Umu!" Rias nodded in excitement. She's been making that anime noise more often, since Issei made the mistake of telling her how identical it was to Nero's behavior. "What about other Japanese Servants? Like Miyamoto Musashi—Or! Or! What about Oda Nobunaga?!" She said with stars in her eyes, before a curious look came to her face. "Or wait, have you met... Okita Souji?" She asked with a very curious look.
"No. I sadly didn't have the honor of meeting Musashi. It's a shame. Maybe he was in the final battle and I didn't see him." Issei shrugged. "I didn't meet him at Chaldea I'm afraid, but I have met Nobunaga and Okita. They're friends. Kinda." He said with chuckle as he remember those two's antics.
"WAIT, WHAT—!?" Rias cried out in excitement.
"Umm..." Asia made a noise trying to get attention, but too shy to interrupt Rias.
"Yes, what is it, Asia?" Issei turned to the former nun.
"Ah, I wanted to ask, have you met any Italian Servants, other than Leonardo Da Vinci? Actually can you tell us more about him? Actually why did you refer to Leonardo Da Vinci as a 'she'? Is Leonardo Da Vinci a girl in the other world? Or rather," Asia looked embarrassed for a moment, fearing that she was imposing on him. "Did you meet any important Christian figures? Like saints or... I'm sorry if I'm being silly. Saints and heroes are different things—"
"I have met Saints." Issei nodded.
""REALLY!?"" Both Asia and Rias asked in excitement.
"Right, so very quickly about Da Vinci. Da Vinci is a guy in that other world. But when he was summoned into Chaldea he made his form be that of the Mona Lisa with a woman's body and everything. So we call called her Da Vinci or Da Vinci-chan. We didn't bother to question her about it, because Da Vinci moves at her own pace." Issei crossed his arms and nodded to himself with pride. "She truly was a genius. She was like the mentor I never knew I needed. Our meeting was destiny! To have met one who understood the perfection of the female form so well." Issei almost sounded like he was in near tears.
Then he noticed the the amused and thrown off looked he was getting from the girls.
Issei coughed into his fist. "A-hem, I mean, Da Vinci was pretty cool. we can talk about her later."
"I have so many questions." Rias shook her head with a wide smile on her face. Asia giggled at Issei's moment of silliness.
"As for Servants, Rias, I told you guys about Kintoki last time, and a little bit about Raikou, so this time I'll tell you about a Servant, Asia would like to hear about." Issei said.
"Ah, you don't have to for my sake—" Asia began to protest, looking flustered.
"No, no! It's fine, Asia-chan." Rias said cheerfully. "Besides I wonder how Saints or Christian Servants are like compared to the ones i learned about in history. Our history here, both mundane and magical."
"Hmm," Issei thought for a moment. "Should I tell you about Jeanne d'Arc? No, since she's French I'd have to make fun of her." He said with a snort.
"Eh?" Asia tilted her head. "Wait, you've met Joan of Arc!?" She said with wide-eyes.
"Why does her being French matters?" Rias asked.
"I was trained by King Arthur and other British Servants while at Chaldea." Issei said. "If I wasn't getting my ass kicked by Scathach." He muttered under his breath. "So I'm kinda obligated to make fun of the French." He said jokingly, but didn't seem to really committed to that obligation.
"I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!" Rias shouted.
"Instead," he turned to Asia. "How about I tell you about Saint Martha?"
"Eeeek!?" Asia for the first time that she could remember squealed in excitement.
"And that despite how much she tried to conduct herself is a scary as hell boxer with a terrifying right hook. Seriously, ask poor Tarasque." He gave sad look at remember that poor dragon.
[That is one traumatized turtle.] Ddraig said, his voice sounding like he was nodding in remembrance.
"Woooah..." Asia imagined a kind woman with a motherly smile and bloodied fists.
"I have so many—" Rias began to cry out.
"THERE THEY ARE!" A girl shouted and pointed at where the trio were hiding.
"Uh oh." Issei muttered, as people began to notice them.
"They're sitting in a tree!?"
"You know what people do in trees, right?"
"You will pay for corrupting Rias-onee-sama and Asia-chan, Hyoudou Issei!" Shouted the voice that sounded like the Captain of the Kendo Club.
"Welp, time to bounce!" Rias said and jumped.
"Why are you talking like the police is after us?" Issei grabbed Asia in a princess carry and jumped after Rias as they all ran away.
Asia smiled and laughed throughout.
"Right so about St. Martha, the first time I heard about her was when Chaldea went on its first mission, the first singularity in France, brainwashed into a raging servant, small 's' by the enemy Servant. An evil version of Jeanne d'Arc who wanted to burn down France with dragons. So another reason to hate the French." Issei continued his tales as he carried Asia and ran with Rias listening by his side.
"I want you to come with me on this contract." Rias said to Issei at the end of the school day, with Asia following along with them.
"You need my help to finish a Devil Contract?" Issei asked, sounding skeptical yet curious. "You know I'm not a Devil, right, Rias?" He asked with playful jest.
"No, no, nothing like that." She smiled and waved him off, before gaining a thoughtful look. "Well, maybe if you can use your Sacred Gear's Boost on me, but that's not really the main reason." Her smile returned. "There's a client I got recently and given that your isekai experience is real, I thought it might be possible theirs is true too, so I wanted you to meet them."
Issei blinked at that.
"Wait, you met someone else that travelled to another world? Actually, why would their isekai travel might not be seen as real?" Issei wondered.
"Well, usually when people say they 'travelled to another world', it's likely one of the many realms belonging to other pantheons. or pocket dimensions of some magician, or magician group or organization. Or a Fae Realm, but probability of that is too low nowadays." She explained.
"'Magicians' are the common name of mages?" Issei asked.
"Yes," Rias said before she tilted her head. "Why?"
"Nothing, it just has a different meaning in the other world." Issei said. "And by the way, yeah, I can use Gift. Boosting others." He pointed out.
"Oh, great! It should be easier to get the client's wish then." She said excitedly, before quickly calming herself, and looking bashfully at Issei. "Only if Issei is fine with helping, of course."
"If their wish isn't something bad, then sure." He shrugged with a smile.
"Great! Thanks, Issei." Rias smiled widely.
"I-I'll help too!" Asia spoke up, adding herself to the conversation.
"Thank you too, Asia!" Rias said back, keeping her cheer.
"So," Issei spoke. "You said when people say they 'travelled to another world', it's just usually a pocket dimension, or any of the magical worlds connected to ours that belong to other Pantheons, or mythological beings."
"Yes!" Rias nodded. "It's why hearing about your actual isekai experience is so amazing to me. And now there might be someone else who's the same. I wanted you to meet them."
Rias' enthusiasm was infectious as Issei and Asia found themselves smiling too.
"How do you know their experience is an actual isekai?" Issei asked.
"I did think they just ended in any of the worlds connected to ours, but it sounded nothing like them. You'll see." Rias said excitedly, while being sly in not saying anything conceret to keep up the mystery.
Soon enough the trio arrived to an apartment complex and stood before the client's door. Number 206.
Rias knocked on the door and waited for a moment. Her eyes widened as she remembered something.
"Ah, right. Before we meet them I should mention that the client is—"
The door opened inward.
"Hello, Devil-san! Have you come to grant my wish, nyo~?" A giant buff man in a magical girl outfit greeted the trio in a classical magical girl pose.
"A Magical Girl Enthusiast." Rias finished with an apologetic smile, at the shocked, throw off looks on Issei and Asia's faces. Rias went ahead and introduced the client. "Everyone, this is Mil-tan."
As the trio sat down in Mil-tan's room surrounded by magical girls paraphernalia.
"So Devil-san, you'll finally make my wish come true and turn me into a Magical Girl with fantasy powers~?" Mil-tan asked while acting like a bashful happy maiden.
"Asia, cover your eyes. Somethings are too overwhelming to see." Issei slowly held a hand up over Asia's eyes, but she easily pushed his hand down, as she saw he was just joking and couldn't help but giggle.
"Let's start with some introductions." Rias began. "To repeat, this is the client Mil-tan."
"Hello~ Devil-san and friend, nyo~." Mil-tan said and winked.
Issei forced himself to keep a straight face.
"...Cute." Asia tilted her head.
Issei's head snapped to Asia's direction with a look of complete shock.
What the hell is she finding cute!? Issei cried out in his head.
"I am Rias Gremory, and the Devil you summoned and I should hopefully now be able to fulfill your wish. These are my friend." She paused to let them introduce themselves.
"I'm Asia Argento, nice to meet you, Mil-san." Asia said with a nod.
"'Tan'! 'San' isn't cute." Mil-tan insisted.
Asia giggled. "Of course. Mil-tan."
"I'm Hyoudou Issei." He said casually. It wouldn't be the first time he met eccentric individual.
He's likely like Da Vinci, someone in love with a concept above all. In this case 'Magical Girls' rather than 'Perfection'.
"Nice to meet you, nyo~. You look like the handsome love interest in 'Magical Girl Milky Spiral 7 Alternative' ." Mil-tan said with a wink.
"Heh," Issei chuckled.
"So!" Rias spoke up and clapped her hands once. "Here's how this would go. To grant the wish, I will use my Devil Magic to make Mil-tan's wish come true. Since this isn't something that can be done by mundane means, and I don't have some magic artifact to facilitate this, we'll use the direct method. However, it seems like it would have taken a lot of Demonic Power to transform Mil-tan into a bonafide Magical Girl, due to his potential. That's where Issei will come in."
"Oh!" Issei said in understanding, curiosity in his expression. "Is that how Devil Contracts work?"
"Basically. As long as the client is happy and the payment is met, then the contract would be complete. Using Devil Magic, specifically the component of making anything we imagine materialize to directly make the wish happen, using the wish that activated the contract as a medium to shape the result of the magic." Rias explained. "Now as for payment, Mil-tan, I want you to tell us everything about your adventures to other worlds." She said with a grin.
"Wait, that's it? For the payment I mean." Issei asked.
"Payment is calculated by this nifty wish-cost calculating device app we Devils have." Rias showed him the app logo on her phone. It had a magic circle with devil horns at the top and a gold coin in the center.
"Oh wow, they modernized." Issei muttered.
"Of course, we know how to use technology. " Rias said with a pout. "This is even magitech in this case. Magic and technology." She repeated for emphasis.
"Oh wow," Issei said genuinely. "I kinda want one in that case."
"No." Rias said back, even sticking her tongue out at him.
Issei held back a snort, and Asia giggled, while Rias just smile back. A gruff giggle was also let out, as Mil-tan laughed at their antics.
"You are all really good friends, aren't you?" Mil-tan said.
"Yes." Asia nodded.
"Yep!" Rias said enthusiastically.
"Yeah," Issei nodded as well.
"So!" Rias spoke. "Mil-tan, please proceed with the payment, the wish magic circle should be ready and all I have to do is power it up to grant the wish." Rias looked toward Issei, who nodded to tell her that he'll help her with the spell when it came time for it.
"Yes, of course, nyo~!" Mil-tan said with magical girl enthusiasm.
The group sat down, with the trio facing Mil-tan as the storyteller.
"It first started when I wished super really, really hard in my heart." Mil-tan said hands over his chest. The trio leaned in with intrigue in the story. "And nothing happened!" He said cheerfully.
Issei, Rias and Asia faceplanted from a where they were seated, before sitting back up.
"So basically nothing happened!" Issei cried out.
"Oh come on!" Rias said as well, as she was invested.
Asia just smiled throughout the antics, enjoying the conversation.
"So then I went and threw my grief into my muscles at the gym, till all the sadness went away, and only love for Magical Girls remained." Mil-tan said with a happy sigh.
"Ah. I see." Issei deadpanned.
"And right then as I was going home a magic portal hit me and I was summoned into another world to save them from a very bad, no-good Demon King." Mil-tan said gravely.
"Are you serious? What's with the sudden tone shift?!" Issei cried out.
"Yeah, that was a surprising plot twist." Rias nodded seriously, holding her chin.
"What 'plot twist'!?" Issei protested.
Asia kept laughing at the antics.
"I helped the nice people there and beat the bad Demon King, nyo. But sadly before I could tell Goddess-chan my wish, she sent me back home, nyo." Mil-tan said with a sad tone.
Oh wow, even an Isekai Goddess didn't want to deal with him.
"I then was flying through dimensions, only for another portal to pull me in, and I found myself in a country of witches. It had four castles in each cardinal directions. I asked them to give me magic powers, but they refused and had me fight some weird monster that appear from people like a they were made from the bad dream in people's hearts. Eventually the Lady Witches of the North, West, East and South threw me out, nyo."
"I feel it's more like they were defending themselves from an invading force." Issei said under his breath.
"That sounds like the pocket dimension belonging to the Wizards of Oz! A castle in the north, west, south and east? You landed in the Emerald City." Rias exclaimed.
"Yes, I think that's what the Lady Witches called it." Mil-tan nodded. "And then as I was throw across dimensions again, a girl was calling for a Spirit's aid, and I wanted to help her, because what Magical Girl doesn't fight for Justice~!" Mil-tan pumped his fist. "I arrived and help this cute mage girl against some bad guys. Key Summoner-chan wanted to summon someone named Taurus, but messed up and got me.
"I was able to help and she was happy with my Magical Girl aid. Sadly we couldn't make a contract, so I was pulled away from that world. But I ended up in the Celesty Spirit World of that world. The Spirits there were nice. they couldn't help me become a Magical Girl either, but helped me leave their world to make my way back home."
"Okay, I'm starting to feel like his journey is approaching to being as crazy as mine." Issei muttered while resting his head against his palm.
Mil-tan talked about how he managed to return home, only to later on be summoned to a different world as part of a hero group, and then other different shenanigans as he went through a couple more world.
"Then finally, I landed in the one place I never even imagined. A paradise for Magical Girls. It's ruler, First Lady-san said I have the heart of a Magical Girl, but I will have to figure out my own path to become a Magical Girl." Mil-tan said with heavy sadness.
Issei bolted upright.
"What... did you just say?" He said with complete wide-eyes focused solely on the magical girl loving bodybuilder.
"Ah, it's what First Lady-san had said to me. That place really was my last hope, that' why I turned to Devil-san when I returned home, since if the Magical Girl Paradise didn't have the answer to my wish, then maybe a Magical Grl Hell would do." Mil-tan clarified, yet the girls' attention was on Issei.
"Issei...?" Asia leaned toward him, placing a hand on his arm in worry.
"Issei, is something the matter?" Rias asked, concern clear in her voice.
"End Sacrifice." Issei finally spoke. "You reached... you were at End Sacrifice?"
"'End Sacrifice'?" Asia tilted her head at the odd name.
Rias at first had her eyes widened in excitement at the recognition in Issei face. Mil-tan had travelled somewhere Issei had been.
"Issei? Is something wrong?" Rias asked.
Yet, that look of sorrow and confusion on Issei's face, had Rias starting to feel worried.
"Mil-tan," Issei gave Rias a nod to acknowledge, but focused intensely on the bodybuilder. "You said you met the First Lady in a world of Magical Girls. Can you describe that world? Like location, geography?"
"I'd never forget it." Mil-tan nodded. "It was a beautiful world made of five kingdoms. Connacht Medb-chan, ruler of the Land of Snow and Honey. It's a very fun place where you can exercise anytime. Nursery Rhyme-chan, ruler of the Land of Sweets, where you can eat any sweets you want. Medical Medea-chan, ruler of the Land of Dragons and Sea, where you can relax with a nice sea breeze.
"Then there's Mahatma Helena-chan ruler of the Land of Dead Bookshelves. Hmm, that place isn't as nice but it has some quiet libraries. Finally there is The Land of Stars and Crystals, where the ruler of that world, First Lady-san lives." Mil-tan explained. "Although I didn't get to see it as First Lady-san has a huge barrier around it, and doesn't let anyone in." He said with a sad pout. "But she talked to me with magic, which was so fantastic, nyo~!" Mil-tan finished with awe.
Asia and Rias were watching Issei reaction with some intrigue. They thought he's be happy, as he seemed to recognize everything Mil-tan described, but the more Mil-tan talked, a sense of quiet melancholy seemed to envelop him.
"Issei, are you okay?" Asia went to his side, putting a hand on his shoulder.
Issei smiled at her before patting her head. Asia smiled at the gesture and let him continue.
"Mil-tan... that place was not a paradise." Issei said to the shock of those present.
"How could you say that, nyo?" Mil-tan protested.
"Yeah, Issei, that place sounds wonderful." Rias said before she remember someone and chuckled. "I think if Lady Leviathan were to hear about it, she's would be over the moon, and determined to do anything to get there."
"Because that world is a graveyard for Magical Girls." Issei stated with a sad smile.
Asia, Rias and Mil-tan were shocked into silence.
"End Sacrifice was a world created by the First Lady to save Magical Girls, but she couldn't do it on her own as her reach to those world was limited. That world was only reached by Magical Girls who had failed." Issei said.
"No!" Mil-tan looked on in horror.
"Magical Girls who were overcome with despair, their magic that acted on their wishes and desires, rather than be motivated by hope became motivated by despair, and thus their souls were pulled into that world as their resting place. The only thing left of them in that place were Echoes." Issei looked at Mil-tan. "You met them, didn't you?"
"The-The friendly ghost-chans at Mahatma Helena-chan's land were , those were..." Mil-tan said with tears in his eyes.
"Yeah." Issei said, eyes cast down. "Originally all the Magical Girls that landed up there would end up fighting against themselves, trying to gain these jewels that would maintain their existence and make them materalize with living bodies than ghosts. The jewels are crystallized emotions that grant wishes, so it was the only thing that could keep a failed Magical Girl alive in that place." Issei paused as he had repeated himself. He took a breath and continued. "Each time a Magical Girl defeated another, her jewel would grow in strength and brightness. Until eventually only five jewels were left. The First Lady and the other four girls."
"No..." Asia said, feeling sad for those poor girls.
"T-That's horrible! What kind of sick twisted parody of a Magical Girl Paradise is that!?" Rias cried out.
"Mil-tan must go!" Mil-tan stood up. "Mil-tan... Mil-tan must talk to the First Lady, to Mahatma Helena-chan and the others!" He said with determination as tears ran down his face.
"Guys, guys! Calm down." Issei said, raising his hands to placate them. "Everything ended up fine in the end." he began to explain. "When me, Ritsuka and Ma—Chaldea ended up inadvertently summoned into that world." He said, his calming voice making Mil-tan slowly sit down to hear Issei's story. "We faced a lot of challenges, but eventually we learned by the First Lady did what she did, why everything happened.
"Her wish was to save the Magical Girls of all worlds, to help them save their world and every world and make sure they won't fail and fall into despair again. But while the presence of the Echoes and their wishes that made the jewels, provided the magical energy to sustain Reality Marble, that was all it could do."
"Reality Marble?" Rias perked up at the new term.
"It's um," Issei tried to remember the explanation. "It's a barrier that's made to be a reflection of the caster's mind. No wait, soul?—It's a pocket world." He settled on a term. "The thing is, the First Lady couldn't herself breach the dimension into other worlds, but by chance when Illya, Miyu and Chloe were passing by a Mirror World—"
"Who? Mirror what?" Rias asked with a tilte of her head, which was mirror by Asia and Mil-tan. One could imagine question marks floating over their heads.
Issei took a breath then smile.
"How about I just start from the beginning?"
Retelling the story of the Prisma Causeway mission—as Chaldea came to call it—was tough for Issei.
It was tough for the same reason why talking about any of his adventures during the Grand Order in actual detail, was tough for Issei.
Because it he would have to mention a certain person.
A certain someone that Issei loved and cared for... and didn't want to think about being gone.
Mash Kyrielight.
The girl who viewed everyone as her "Senpai" in life, while assigning that title solely to Issei's beloved Ritsuka.
The girl who was so innocent, he couldn't act perverted toward her even if he wanted to. Yet couldn't help but tease her when Ritsuka did so or when that germline redheaded Master was involved in something insane and silly.
The girl he came to view as a little sister, second only to Ritsuka in how precious she was to him.
The girl... that at the end of everything, he was too weak to save.
If only the miracle I grasped at the Timeless Temple arrived just a little earlier. Then Mash, maybe even Romani...
Issei closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His hands had clenched unconsciously till his knuckled whitened.
A hand gently rested on one of his clenched fist. He let out the breath, opened his eyes, and looked to the side to see Asia looking at him with concern.
Issei relaxed and smile, before rubbing her hand in reassurance that he was fine.
"First Lady-san and Mila-san were reunited in the end." Mil-tan while holding a handkerchief and drying his tears.
"That was sooo sweet. I'm so happy it all ended well." Rias was also crying, yet smiling from joy. "So now that world had become a resting abode for tired Magical Girl as well as an actual paradise for them. I'm so glad!" Then she blinked as she remembered something. "Also, you said the Demon Pillar Glasya-Labolas was Nursery Rhyme's black sheep pet? Why is that a thing? How is that a thing? You just casually met a Devil from the Glasya-Labolas Clan?"
"No, not member. More like, the only one bearing that name." Issei said, sheepishly looking away. His normal demeanor returning had Asia smiling in relief.
"Wait, you met the ancestor? Like, the original Glasya-Labolas?" Rias blinked in surprise.
"Technically that's correct." Issei nodded.
"Mooou~! There are so many thing you're referencing but not giving the ful context to. Not fair!" Rias pouted.
"Yeah, not fair, nyo." Mil-tan copied Rias.
"Stop pouting, both of you. Especially you!" Issei cried out, pointing at the magical girl love bodybuilder.
Asia an Rias laughed in good-nature at the banter, while Mil-tan "cutely" smiled. There were even weird sparkles.
Issei's brain shut down for a moment at seeing that, before noticing it's a spell and the magical energy was coming from Rias. She looked back at him with a playful smile. He returned it with a non-serious annoyed glare.
"Maybe, I'll tell that story about Demon Pillars another time." Issei settled.
"Um," Asia spoke up. "I remember what Issei said about them. I could tell Rias-san and Mil-tan."
"Ah, thank you, Asia!" Rias said with a wide smile. "But I want to hear it from Issei to get the full experience of the first hand account. I feel it would be more fun this way."
"Mmm, I understand!" Asia nodded, getting Rias' enthusiasm.
The group just chatted a bit more int at good atmosphere.
"Mil-tan," Issei spoke up after a moment. "Thank you. For telling me about End Sacrifice. Knowing that you managed to go there, it means more than I can express in words." He said with gratitude in his voice and frame.
"Ah, those eyes, you'll make this pure maiden's heart go doki-doki." Mil-tan shyly look away cupping his cheeks.
"Right." Issei's expression fell into a dry look, before he shook it off. "So how about we finish up that wish? Rias, is the spell ready?"
"Eh?" Rias seemed to have forgotten the original purpose of this trip. She looked down to examine the magic circle, and her eyes widened in delight and approval. "Yep! It's ready." She nodded with a grin.
"Alright." Issei nodded.
Issei stood up, along with Mil-tan and the girls. Everyone stepped out of the magic circle except Mil-tan.
The Boosted Gear manifested on Issei's left arm and began its work.
[BOOST]
Energy surged slow and steadily from the Longinus.
"The Wish Contract has been drawn."
[BOOST]
"The terms decided, the participants: Devil and Contractor."
[BOOST]
"The agreement has been reached." Rias began chanting as demonic power began rising from her, making her clothes move with unseen wind, and her hair float and wave elegantly.
[BOOST]
"The payment has been accepted," she declared with a dramatic flair.
He didn't know why, Issei had the odd suspicion that Rias didn't action need the chant to do all this.
[BOOST]
"Issei." Rias extended a hand to him. "It's time." She declared.
She would later on notice that the Boosted Gear didn't adhere to the ten seconds rule, as the Boosts rolled one after another, with only little pause.
Issei had an amused smile as he held Rias' hand with his red gauntlet one.
Rias maintained a serious regal face, yet Issei could see him seeing through her act, made her want to chuckle sheepishly but held herself back with discipline from lessons on noble etiquette.
[TRANSFER]
Any playful silent banter between the human and devil was cut, as Rias felt her power skyrocket in a way she didn't expect. She had never experience so much power flowing through her.
Rias felt like she could do anything. Grasp all of her hopes and dreams and make them hers. She moaned as the power seemed to rush through her as an elation of delight.
"A-hem." Issei coughed and squeezed Rias' hand, brinigng her back to the present.
Rias blink, her face then flushed as she regained her composure after that temporary loss of control.
She focused once more on the magic spell and finished it.
"Thus in my name as the Scion of House Gremory; I, Rias Gremory shall now grant your Wish."
The spell rose into a crescendo as light and aura covered Mil-tan who also moaned at the devil magic transforming him...
Into a Magical Girl.
"Haaaa~." Mil-tan sighed with her voice, as she looked at her body in the mirror.
She had transformed into a young woman with the same height as her previous body. Her clothes became those of the style of magical girls, but with a knight theme. Her hair and eye color began purple, and said hair was styled into iconic twin tails. Finally a magic jewel was found magically affixed comfortably against the center of her forehead.
Mil-tan still had all her muscles though. Thus hidden and made subtle under her clothes.
"It really happened." Mil-tan spoke with a much lighter voice, that held a deep sultry hint to it. She sounded like an alluring yet caring older business woman. Or a stern disciplinary with a motherly smile.
She raised a hand and a blue colored ball of magical energy floated above her palm. "This is real!" She moved the ball around, and it became a ray slowly flying around according to her will. "I'm finally a Magical Girl with fantasy power, nyo~!"
"Congratulation, Mil-tan." Asia said earnstly. Not understanding Mil-tan's passion for magical girls, but happy for him, well, her now all the same.
"Thus the contract is complete. Congratulations, Mil-tan. Can you please sign the contract's completion form!" Rias said with a smile, handing Mil-tan a piece of paper summoned from somewhere.
Ah. Devils here have bureaucracy power. How suitably scary. Issei thought.
"Have you thought of a name for your Magical Girl alter-ego, Mil-tan?" Issei asked.
"Hmm, originally I was gonna Magical girl Cute Fluffy-chan. But given this new look..." Mil-tan thought about it for a while.
"Hmm, it's likely the inclusion of Issei's energy that influenced the wish this way." Rias offered and explanation.
"Errr, sorry if this isn't what you wanted, Mil-tan. I guess Boosted Gear's full form being an armor, tilted things this way."
"No, I love it. That's why," She pumped her fist up dramatically. "I shall be, Magical Girl Pretty Knight-chwan!"
During the walk back, Rias, Asia and Issei talked about the visit to Mil-tan.
Mil-tan had felt powerful to Rias, enough to pique her interest to ask her to join her Peerage.
Yet Rias refrained as she felt Mil-tan would want to enjoy her experience as a magical girl before she would want to add becoming a devil on top.
Rias also swore both Issei and Asia to not tell Sona about having turned Mil-tan into a magical girl. Something she really shouldn't have done, as it would annoy her childhood friend, but the excitement of the situation and evening of talking about isekais, just swept her into doing it without thinking of the consequences.
Yet Issei couldn't really focus on the current conversation with Rias and Asia.
He was much visibly happier, he was smiling more genuinely and seemed engaged in the conversation.
But all throughout the walk back to the Hyoudou house, Issei's mind was on the single most important revelation he discovered since he woke back in his own world.
I can go back. The smile wouldn't leave his face at the though. I can go back to Chaldea, to Ritsuka. He closed his eyes and took a breath, and when he opened them, a shining gleam of determination blazed in his eyes. No. I will find them again. Issei vowed.
I was traveling by Ritsuka's side once more. We were on another mission. I didn't know where.
We were in a modern city. Huh, guess this mission is like when we went to Fuyuki during the 4th Holy Grail War.
This city...
I can't place where I saw it before, but I swear I know it from somewhere. Like I once visited the place, but it's no longer that city. The differences are small but compound enough that I can't recognize it now.
We were travelling with this Shady Old Man. His words.
Although self-proclaimed or not, he really does feel shady.
Like that used magic car salesman fallen, but somehow worse.
I told Ritsuka about that fallen leader, but she can't seem to hear me. Guess she's stressed out.
Yeah, without Mash around, I guess she doesn't feel like her usual cheerful self. I mean, the ghost of Mash popping up on occasion to give us directions or information, certainly isn't good for either of our mental health.
Oh damn, that Speedy Wolf Rider really is a bad dog. Thing is really vicious chasing us.
The Wolf and its Dullahan Rider are Phantom Spirits? So... people that didn't make the cut to become Heroic Spirits? Man, that's sad.
Wait. I probably count as one of those Phantom Spirits. Ouch, self-burn.
Ritsuka snorted and giggled to herself.
"Oh my. You're able to laugh even in this situation? Your resilience is down right terrifying, young lady." Said the Shady Old Man. "But please focus on the current situation!" He cried out in distress.
"No, no. I just couldn't help but think of Issei making a comment about—Never mind!" Ritsuka chuckled then focused the pursuing Speedy Wolf Rider.
The Wolf was getting near, but suddenly Emo Saber arrived to save us on a motorbike.
...It looked so damn cool!
Emo Saber helped us out and took us to her base. And of course it's under a burger joint.
Wait, she adopted a dog and called it Cavall II? Heh, she continued to have an unexpected cute side.
"Awww, who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?" Rituska petted the dog. Although it's awkward how she's insistent on taking my right hand and using it to pet the dog with her.
"I'd appreciate it if you don't ruin my dog's discipline with your antics." Emo Saber glared.
"Wow, you're still an adorable tsundere, Salter."
Wow, Ritsuka. You don't know how to be discreet.
"Do you want to get stabbed?"
Heh.
After that, I didn't really focus much. I was alter for dangers, but Ritsuka had it mostly handled.
We faced some weird Blackface EMIYA. I feel he'll get in trouble for that.
Hmm, Emo Saber doesn't like the Shady Old Man. He seems like one of those brainy smug smart types. But Evil.
Yes, Capital "E".
But he wouldn't be the first Evil Servant we had at Chaldea so I don't see a problem with him.
We'll him on our side eventually if we haven't already did that.
Hey! We saved Emo Jeanne!
Oh wow, Emo Jeanne is in pretty bad shape. Hope she's okay. It's one thing to joke and bully the French Saint, either of them, but if someone dares harm them, then they'll pay.
I power up and send my energy to Ritsuka to use it for our friend's sake.
"I say! That Mystic Code is surprisingly versatile, young lady. I didn't realize it provided such healing capabilities on hand." The Shady Old Man said in shock, pointing at the cool slick modern red gauntlet with a green jewel Ritsuka had.
Heh, we match. Although its on her right arm. We're symmetric?
Wait...? Did he not notice me using Gift? Heh, better keep it a secret then. Ha! Take that, you smarmy asshole.
"I felt I had enough energy for a healing spell this time." Ritsuka seems to be on the same page as me.
Then we fought enemies. So many enemies. Magic thugs with gun. Some Bigger Chimeras. Super Chimeras? What a dumb name.
My instincts screamed.
I moved in front of Ritsuka.
The Speedy Wolf Rider had arrived, killed the enemies and was attacking us. I pushed Master out of the way, while defecting a hit from it's claw away from us.
The Wolf seemed confused, and it landed and spun toward us. Ritsuka seemed shocked and confused too.
I focused on the Wolf and glared with the force of a dragon.
It froze in place for a second out of confused once more.
Emo Jeanne arrived to save the day.
Yey.
Some fighting. More rest. More planning. More battles.
I'm starting to feel sleepy.
No.
I have to stay awake by Ritsuka's side until the mission is over. Until she's safe back in Chaldea.
We fought and beat a Crazy Doll and Opera Phantom. Huh. Guess we finally get to meet his Christine that he always talked about.
Oh, and we learn the Shady Old Man is James Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes's nemesis. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.
Well, okay. I'm a little surprised, but once I learned his True Name, yeah, he's as slimy as I'd expect Sherlock's mortal enemy to be.
Huh.
Old Man Cursed Arms saved us.
...Was he one of the Servants to come with us on his mission?
Who were the Servants that came with us on this mission again?
Hmm...
No.
Ritsuka, watch out! That's not Cursed Arms.
She hears me and jumps away, just in time for the False Assassin to miss.
"...How? I have copied Hassan's presence down to the last mole. I even copied his Spirit Origin. It shouldn't have been possible for a Servant to notice the difference, let alone a human." False Cursed Arms cried out with wide eyes, as he sheds his disguise.
"Dunno. I just felt the urge to jump just then." Ritsuka says.
The Emo Girls arrive and take down False cursed arms.
Yeah! Go Goth Girls!
More stuff happen.
More mooks taken out.
I think we killed Romeo and Juliet at one point?
Wow. Dark.
Oh, Speedy Wolf Rider is back.
Wait, the fuck you mean we're using Cavall II as bait?!
"Hey, are you actually saying what I think you're saying? You want to play bait for Lobo? I refuse." Emo Saber protest.
Yeah, you tell'em Emo Saber.
Bark. Bark.
"He says he wants to help us." Ghost Mash says.
Ghost Mash, why are you trying to kill the doggo?
Yet we go ahead with that plan.
It's really not the craziest we had to pull.
But we will not fail. We'll kill the Wolf and protect the Doggo.
We are enter high speed chase on the highway with Speed Wolf Rider after us.
The Wolf naturally evades the first and second traps. It falls into the third.
We fight it with a cheating advantage, like the cheating cheaters we are.
It surprises us and tries to go for Ritsuka mid-fight once more.
Ritsuka is a step too slow. She's vulnerable.
"Not today, Lobo!" Shady Moriarty jumped from behind and fires his coffin guns into the Wolf's face, but it is still not face enough. The Wolf is still too close Ritsuka.
Of course, I'm here. It's almost like they forgot me.
I'm right in front of Ritsuka and give it a right hook taking out one of its fangs.
Then Shady Moriarty's gun fire launches the Wolf back into the trap for our Goth Girls to take it out.
"Thank you for the help, Moriarty." Ritsuka thanked him. Well, I guess he did step in when needed.
"Of course, that's what a Servant is for. Yet... Did you truly need any help?"
"Heh, yeah obviously. I can't do anything without my Servants." Ristuka said with her usual modesty.
"Hmm, I could have sworn..." He then notices the broken fang. "I see. It seems my strength from the contract has improved."
We take the fang as spoils. Da Vinci likely will manage to do something with it.
I feel too tired.
More battles, more mooks.
We take out more of the League of Phantom Fiends.
Or did we already take them all out?
I'm so tired.
I close my eyes and—
Huh?
What did I miss?
Shady Moriarty was actually Evil Moriarty? There was no Good Moriarty, and Evil Moriarty was... Demon God Baal, because of fucking course there's a Demon Pillar involved.
Okay, let's the ass kicking over and done with.
"There's just one thing. One thing that I felt was off about you, Fujimaru Ritsuka. A unknown variable that keeps appearing from time to time. Almost seems like you have a guardian angel watching over you."
Nah, not an angel. A Dragon.
"No, maybe that's the melancholy of an old man. Travelling with you was fun, young lady, but no miracle will save you this time, I'm afraid. Everything had proceeded as planned, and now the final curtain falls."
Nah, you can't calculate for this idiot. I'll take you down and beat you with my idiocy experience.
"Nah, we'll win." Ritsuka grinned.
Then Blackface EMIYA betrayed and shot Baal.
Wait, what the fuck?
Also Moriarty's plan to kill us by using an asteroid to blow up the planet is wild.
Then again that's about what's expected of our villains. They're made of higher quality.
Its why when they fall, they fall harder than normal villains.
Like the Professor of Crime not realizing that he should never reveal his culpability. Because then any Detective that arrives will strip him of his power.
"James Moriarty, you're the Culprit!" Ritsuka shouted as she pointed at Moriarty with the power of numerous famous Detectives.
Shady Moriarty loses his power.
His asteroid is destroyed and his Demon Pillar partner shot and killed in a back alley.
Then Ritsuka danced with Emo Jeanne in a gown dress.
What? Excuse you?
Jeanne d'Arc Alter, are you making a move on my girl?
Fucking French Servants.
Finally it was just us on the roof top of the Barrel Tower.
Another wild mission, huh, Rits-chan.
"Issei," Ritsuka spoke, looking at her gauntlet covered right hand.
Yeah?
"If you can hear me, thank you for looking after me."
Heh. 'If I can hear you'. Weird thing to say when I'm right here.
But I guess she's tired.
"Fujimaru, all lights green for the Rayshift back. Countdown beginning." Da Vinci said over the comms.
I looked at Ritsuka. She's looking up at the sky and the glowing bits of meteorites burning in the atmosphere.
My eyes were drifting. Eye lids so heavy and falling down.
But I still have to answer her last words to me.
Looking after her? There's no need to thank me.
"Of course I would."
AN: This is likely the last calm, slice of life chapter.
