Disclaimer: I saw the definition of a Drabble was 100 words or less, but I'm sort of ignoring that and making it like less than 500.

Here's a short interlude to give backstory to the previous drabbles!

"Same Name" came to me a while ago, and I wrote it down in notes. It was the inspiration to start Downton Abbey Drabbles. I thought of the idea when I was thinking about nicknames for Marigold. Of course Goldie, but then I realized Mary (or spelled Mari) could be a nickname too! I thought Edith calling her daughter that shows her affection for her sister, even if they don't always get along.

"The Inter-workings of a Car" came to me when I was reading stories about Sybbie being a mechanic in WW2, and I loved the idea of Tom teaching her about cars. I think Tom and Sybbie are my favorite of the parent-child duos, even though I love Mary and George and Edith and Marigold, of course.

"Honorary Grandchild" is the short version of an idea I came up with shortly after I watched Downton Abbey: A New Era on Netflix. I loved when Lucy and Tom came to Downton with their son, and I loved imagining they named him Robert and called him Bobby after Lord Grantham. Then I was thinking about how Sybbie of course was "Bobby's" half-sister, but he had no blood relation to the Crawleys. Clearly the Crawleys love Tom and consider him one of their own, so I loved imagining them treating his and Lucy's son like they did one of their grandchildren. In my head, Tom would be too uncomfortable to ask flat out if they would accept his son as a part of their family, but Lucy cared too much about Tom to not ask. Edit: I was just thinking and I COMPLETELY FORGOT that Lucy is technically blood related to Robert through Maud, which makes Lucy and her son cousins of Robert's but yeah... this story still could work besides the "not being blood related." Obviously Tom wouldn't want his daughter to be the Crawleys granddaughter and his son to be treated as a distant cousin.

"Cricket" doesn't have much of a backstory. I just love the Cricket storyline with Tom in the show, and I was in a mood to keep writing about Lucy, so that's where it came from!

"Cloud Watching" has absolutely no backstory. I thought I want to write about Caroline and Henry. This is where my mind took me.
