A.N/ Hello all! We're back again with another chapter, as promised this one will be a little more exciting than the last. I had a couple of you ask some questions so I'll go ahead and address them here. 1-Yes Fleur will be one of Harry's girls, not Daphne though. While I don't hate the pairing it's definitely not one of my favorites 2-Both Tonks and Susan will be with Harry. Fleur will come later, no timeframe on how long it will take but it won't be until after the second task. That's it for now. I own nothing in the Harry Potter or Wizarding World universes.
Chapter 4- Happenings Back Home
All across the globe magical creatures big and small felt a jolt of magic run through their bodies. Such magic hadn't been felt in centuries but every creature knew its significance. Dragons all over the world blasted large pillars of fire into the air, Nundus in the great plains of Africa let loose roars heard for thousands of miles, Thunderbirds in the deserts of the americas conjured great bolts of lightning creating light shows of the like the world has never seen and werewolves let out howls that chilled all who heard them to the bone. All creatures celebrated, for they all knew this could only mean one thing. The Prowlers had returned.
Avalon
It had been one week since his son's disappearance and none of his sources had any information. Tiberius Prowler was apocalyptic, people didn't just vanish. His boy had to be somewhere and the gods permitting he would find him. As he strode through the forest his mind replayed the events prior to his boy disappearing.
Nothing was out of the ordinary for the family. It had been a regular evening for them. They say at the dinner table eating and talking about their respective days. Harry was complaining about taking up lordship so early and Tiberius loved watching the boy complain. He was going to be a fine lord. After dinner they had all retired to bed. The next morning Harry never came down for breakfast. Figuring he simply slept in Tiberius let him be, when he still hadn't shown up for lunch he went to check on the lad. When he had entered his son's room he knew instantly something was wrong. It was mess, books and scrolls thrown in every direction, curtains pulled off their rails, the bed had been completely flipped over and magic was so thick in the air you could taste it. Someone or something had taken his boy.
His wife had taken the news horribly. She went comatose when she heard the news. Their whole lives they had prayed for children but it was never to be. Then suddenly one day they were gifted with a son. He appeared out of nowhere, a great flash of light had disturbed the annual lords meeting and when it went out there stood a young scared little boy. He was beaten and bloody with many broken bones but he was strong. That day his and his wife's lives changed forever and for the better. They'd welcomed the boy with open arms. It was tough at first but they'd managed to gain the boys trust and eventually his love. The day they had officially blood adopted him was one of Tiberius's best memories.
"My lord, I think we should stop and make camp. Camelot is still half a days ride." The large wolf turned to look at one of his guardsmen. Turning to his human form he looked at the surrounding area.
"Fine place as any I suppose. Alright, we'll make camp for the night but we continue first thing in the morning. I want to be in Camelot tomorrow afternoon." He reach into his pocket and unshrunk his pack.
After the group had set up camp they started building a fire. "I'm going to go hunt a deer. You lot stay here and make sure we don't get robbed. I won't be long." His guardsmen all nodded as the man changed into a lion and trotted off into the wilderness.
Hunting had always calmed his nerves. The feel of nature around him as he trotted through the tall grass and brush helped ease his mind. Birds sang their sweet melodies as they prepared to retire for the evening and small rodents scurried to their dens. As he passed the forest quieted, lions were not native to this area but creatures knew a predator when they seen one. The lion slowed as it came to a clearing in the woods. It was a large opening spanning three hundred meters across with a large pond in the middle that fed a small stream the bubbles through the wilderness.
He watched carefully as a large herd of deer entered the clearing from the opposite side of him. The large stag that lead them scanned the clearing for anything dangerous before he snorted letting the rest of the herd enter. The lion watched as many deer poured from the forest, small fawns danced and played in the grass as their mothers carefully watched them play. Smaller stags followed the females and young ones, they preferred to just eat their fill of tender grass and maybe engage in some light sparring. These deer were his target. The young stags wouldn't weren't as dangerous as the older ones with their large antlers. They were still growing, their antlers were still dangerous but the young ones didn't have the experience of fighting of predators just yet.
He stayed along the edge of the clearing as he made his way towards the herd, stopping occasionally as the lead stag legged his head scamming for danger. When he finally got near the herd he hunkered down low to the ground. Using the tall grass as camouflage he crept towards a young stag.
When had finally gotten close enough he readied himself to pounce. His two powerful hind legs easily propelled him into the air clearing the fifteen meter gap in one jump. The herd had hardly any time to react before the lion landed on one of the young stags back. As the pair was tumbling to the ground all around them the deer scattered. Quickly jumping back onto the downed deer the lion got ready to deliver the killing bite.
Just before his teeth could pierce the skin however he felt a sharp pain in his side and was thrown into the air. Landing with a thud he jumped back up and turned to where he was thrown from. The young stag he was hunting had got up on shaky legs and ran from the clearing. Standing in that same spot was the lead stag. He had looked big from a distance but up close he was truly a sight to behold. His large antlers were thick and branched out in many directions, he had many scars from previous battles, some from predators and others from other stags. Many lords would pay handsomely for a trophy of this caliber.
The great beast swung his head, his antlers slicing the air dangerously. Hot mist shot from its nose as it snorted and wheezed in anger. It stomped the ground challenging the lion, scraping the ground with its hooves. Finally it made its move as it reared up on its hind legs before charging, its head lowered and antlers out ready to skewer anything in its path.
Thinking quickly Tiberius shifted again this time changing into a small bird. Moving to the side the stag charged past him, when it stopped it frantically started looking for its missing adversary. What it didn't see however was the small yellow bird flying to its side. This time the stag was the one thrown through the air as the small bird changed into a large brown bear, with a great swipe of its massive paw it struck the stag in the side launching it through the air. The stag never got a chance to rise as the lion from before was suddenly on top of it with a crushing bite to the back of its neck.
Once the animal stopped moving the lion changed back into his human form. Reaching his arm across his body he felt where the stag hit him with its antlers. His clothes were warm and sticky and when he looked at his hand it was covered in crimson blood. Sighing he changed back into the lion and dragged the carcass back to camp.
As he emerged from the brush he was greeted by a spear in his face. When the guard seen it was him he dropped the spear and sighed. "Almost stuck you m'lord. We were beginning to wonder if you'd run into trouble. Bout to send Roberts looking." The guard pointed a thumb to one of the other men. Looking down at the stag he gave a whistle. "Looks like a fine beast. Biggest stag my eyes have ever seen. We should keep the head and mount it in the trophy room."
The lion finally dropped the stag and shifted back. "I was actually going to do just that. You lot take care of this for me, I have to stitch myself back up. Bastard put up a fight." He shrugged his cloak off and rolled his shirt up revealing the puncture wounds in his side.
"Shit! Someone grab a med kit, lord Tiberius is injured!" Tiberius shook his head. "No need for that boys, you clean this up and prepare a good stew. I'll head into my tent and heal this myself. Not the first time I've been roughed up." He turned his back to his guards and walked to his tent.
As he entered his tent he hung his cloak up on a hook. Taking off his shirt he could finally see the extent of his injuries. Four puncture wounds graced his midsection. Luckily the stags antlers missed any vital organs or else this would be more complicated.
Waving his wand he winced as the cleaning spell pushed out any foreign material from his injuries. Once it had finished its job he grabbed a vial of muscle repairing potion. Uncorking it he drank the potion and could feel the muscles knitting themselves back together, it was an odd feeling. It didn't hurt but it wasn't comfortable either. Finally he grabbed the skin repair paste. Normally he'd use something faster working but since they made camp he would let the paste work overnight.
Once he had everything applied he grabbed a new shirt and stood in front of the mirror. Tiberius Prowler was a tall man. Not as tall as his son as Harry was half a foot taller than him but still taller than most. Prowlers were always a very tall family. As he looked himself over he couldn't help but notice he'd gotten much grayer over the past week. His son vanishing had really done the former lord in. Where his beard and mustache had once had few grays he now had a salt and pepper look about him. The gray traveled up his sideburns and into his hair. Unlike his son Tiberius preferred to keep his hair on the shorter side. The light fade on the sides into the slightly longer top felt more noble than the shoulder length his son kept. Even his eyes had lost some of their luster. Where they were once like polished amethysts they were now dull showing the sadness he felt. He was very proud of the fact that Harry had taken his eyes. Or at least one of his eyes. They still don't know why magic had given him one eye of him and his wife but the boys mother adored him for it, claiming it gave him a distinguished look.
Finally he threw his shirt on and left the tent. His men had the stag nearly butchered and were currently preparing it for stew. "Felling better m'lord? That stag must've been a mean one to get one over on you. My father told stories of you wrestling dragons and leaving without a scratch, so to see you get bloodied by a stag is surprising." Tiberius gave a light chuckle. "Your father is a liar, it was two dragons." He gave a hearty laugh and his men joined in. Once they had gotten their laughs out they set to work finishing up butchering the stag and making the stew.
After their meal the group sat around the fire. The men told jokes and stories of their childhood and Tiberius told them stories of past wars. "So there I was, chasing the bastard through the swamps. He's grabbing anything he can get his hands on and throwing it back at me. He even grabbed a bullfrog and threw it." The men laughed at this. "He finally made a mistake though and tripped over a tangle of roots. I needed the bastard alive mind you, after all he was Lord Sanders right hand man he had information we needed. Just before I was able to grab him however this one's father" he pointed to Roberts" sticks an arrow right through his temple." All the men started laughing at this. Wiping a tear from his eye Tiberius continued. "It all worked out in the end. We defeated the opposing army. Sadly house Sanders went extinct because of it and Avalon lost one of its oldest families. All because of greed. Sanders wasn't happy ruling the south coasts, he wanted more and when he started moving north and burning every village in his path the rest of us joined forces to stop him. Thousands of men were killed all over the greed of one. But now house Von controls the south coasts and it's never been more successful economically."
The men say in silence for a few moments. Some drank their ale and some just stared at the fire. "Lord Prowler, if I may how exactly does the Prowler family magic work? If you're lord of the creatures why don't non magic creatures follow you?" The other guard stared at the young man. Sure they were curious themselves but none had the bravery to ask that question as family magic was often kept secret. They were all surprised however when Tiberius started speaking.
"It's simple really. They don't have enough magic in them to feel the connection. The magic coursing through their bodies is connects to my families magic and creates a bond. This bond is limitless, that's why creatures on the other side of the world are still loyal to me. Mundane creatures don't have enough magic in them to create that bond. If I wish to however I can push magic through the bond and make the connection myself. I just have to focus on the creature and magic. I can still communicate with them and take their form though just like I can magical creatures." The men all talked amongst themselves after learning this information.
Tiberius stretched and stood up. "I'm off to bed. You lot should be to, we leave at first light. The other lords will be waiting for us in Camelot and I want to be there tomorrow afternoon. G'night lads." He turned to head to his tent.
As he enters his tent he took his shirt off and laid in his cot. Reaching over he grabbed a portrait of him, his wife and Harry. It was taken the day Harry was blood adopted and officially became a Prowler. Placing kiss on his wife and son he put the portrait back on the stand and readied for sleep. "I'll find you son, I promise."
