That was Kagome's first thought as she gazed up and up and up. It was her first day in Division One as the newest Inspector. She had wanted to make a good impression, but staring dumbly at the tousled dark haired male was probably not the best way to introduce oneself. But she couldn't help it. Standing at a mere five-foot-two, everything and everyone was significantly taller than she. But he was… certainly something else.
"What are you staring at?" Shinya Kogami inquired in his signature bored tone. The new Inspector was definitely small, almost like a child though her feminine curves quickly erased those thoughts. His protective instincts were getting more riled the longer he continued gazing at her, which made him pause. He hadn't felt those types of emotions since realizing the law couldn't protect people. It was new – and a bit frightening.
Kagome blushed, embarrassed. "I'm sorry," she quickly apologized. Bowing low at the waist, she introduced herself. "My name's Kagome Higurashi. Starting today, I'll be joining Division One as an Inspector. Please take care of me."
Kogami stepped closer until he was positively towering over the raven haired beauty. His brow rose when he noticed she wasn't the least bit intimidated by his proximity. In fact, she stood straighter, shoulders back, and amethyst eyes focused on his every move. She was obviously trained well, knew how to take care of herself. Her looks were innocent and kind, which would make an opponent underestimate her, but not him. Kogami could see her.
Still, he was impressed. Her backbone had to be made out of steel to be assigned to such a volatile group. He couldn't help but inwardly smirk. Having Inspector Higurashi around would definitely be entertaining.
"Yeah, fine," he said dismissively. Slowly, not wanting to startle her, he laid a hand over her head of silky tresses. "I won't let anything happen to you. I'm your Hound, after all, and you're my Shepherd."
