"I've liked you for a very long time. Please, be my girlfriend!"
Shocked, amethyst orbs blinked at the random male student who had just confessed his undying love for her. What did she say to such a bold statement?
Kagome felt sweat form on the back of her neck, nervous and unsure. She never liked being put into these types of situations. Unfortunately, it seemed to happen weekly. Why did this keep happening to her?
"Um," she hesitantly started, "I'm flattered that you feel that way about me. But… I already have a boyfriend."
Her words seemed to drop like a bomb. The unknown young man snapped his attention onto her face, devastated but surprised.
"You-You already have a boyfriend?" he questioned, incredulous. "But I've been watching you for a long time! I've never noticed another guy with you…"
Okay, that's just creepy, she thought, feeling a shiver crawl up her spine. "Uhh, I think I'm going to go now." Slowly, she inched away from her potential stalker. "Please stop watching me. I'm sure you'll find someone else." And I'll pray for that poor girl.
When she was out of sight, Kagome sighed tiredly. She ran a hand through her silky raven tresses, wishing that she hadn't experienced the last ten minutes of her life. That had been stressful, and her nerves were practically screaming.
"Kagome-chan," three feminine voices called out, catching the raven haired beauty's attention.
She smiled as she saw her friends' fast approach. "Hey, you guys," she greeted.
"So, tell us what happened," Eri exclaimed, grinning widely.
Yuka nodded in agreement, chocolate orbs shining with excitement for juicy gossip. "Yeah," she said, "tell us about your latest confession."
Ayumi shook her head at their antics. "Geez, you two," she admonished, crossing her arms under her breasts. "Is this all you think about?"
Kagome chuckled sheepishly. "What's there to say?" she deflected. "It's not like I can accept their feelings. I already have a boyfriend I'm crazy about." Just the thought of him made a smile curve her lips upward.
Eri rolled her eyes. "Yes, yes, we know. But isn't he kind of—"
"Vanilla," Yuka finished for her.
It was Kagome's turn to roll her eyes. "What's wrong with vanilla?"
"It's boring," Yuka answered.
Eri nodded. "You need to add a little something into your life, Kagome-chan. Plain vanilla is good and all, but there's no excitement. No fire! It's predictable."
"We're in high school," Yuka added. "It's supposed to be the best years of your life."
Having heard this argument before, Kagome replied, "And I can't spend the best years of my life with the guy I'm falling in love with? Don't underestimate vanilla. It can be plain, a little predictable, but it's got layers and nuances underneath." She playfully winked. "You guys need a bit of vanilla in your lives."
Ayumi chuckled. "Okay, that's enough. You two are keeping her from meeting up with her 'vanilla' boyfriend." She gave the raven haired beauty an encouraging look. "Get out of here and have fun, Kagome-chan."
"Thanks, Ayumi. I'll see you girls tomorrow!" With those parting words, Kagome waved at her friends before departing from school. A wide smile graced her features as she thought about the young man waiting for her at their usual meeting place.

Kuroko sipped from his cup, ghostly blue orbs focused on the fast food restaurant's entrance. It wasn't outwardly showing, but he was vibrating with anticipation of seeing his girlfriend of six months. While it was difficult to see each other since they went to different schools, they somehow made it work. The phrase 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' had not been truer.
When Kagome walked through the glass door, Kuroko didn't need to catch her attention. Her amethyst eyes instantly saw him as she scanned the dining area, the orbs shining with happiness. It still amazed him that his lack of presence never seemed to work on her, though he couldn't help but be grateful. It was nice being noticed for once.
"Tetsuya," she greeted brightly.
He sweetly smiled. "Kagome."
She took a seat across from him, head cocked to the side cutely as she observed his drink. "What are you having?" she asked.
"A vanilla milkshake."
Her smile turned tender with affection. "That sounds absolutely perfect."
He blinked, a little confused by her response. He held out the drink in offering. "Would you like some, Kagome?"
"I could always use a little bit of vanilla in my life."
