As dawn broke over the mountains and crept through the bedroom's window, Meliodas quietly dressed for the day. Strapping on his Sacred Treasure, emerald orbs glanced over a shoulder to catch a last glimpse of the raven haired beauty still asleep amongst fluffy pillows and soft comforters.
With a soft smile, the blonde exited the room and silently closed the door behind him. He had a mission to do, and he planned on completing it as soon as possible.
Preferably before his lover awoke.

Arms crossed over his chest, Meliodas stared at the gathered ingredients in front of him with a contemplative look, brows furrowed. Normally standing in the Boar Hat's kitchen didn't leave him nervous – he was quite confident his cooking skills were deadly – but this time was different.
He wanted to bake something for someone he loved.
Ideally, he would like it if the food actually came out edible but, more importantly, he didn't want to poison her. Anyone else willing to eat his food was fair game – he never claimed to be a good chef – but she wasn't.
Meliodas had drawn a firm line when it came to her dietary restrictions. First, she was never allowed near his cooking. Second, she was never allowed near his cooking. And third, she was only allowed to eat whatever Ban put in front of her. Period.
That had worked for a while, except for today. He was determined to make something and present it to her with a proud expression. He was resolved.
Meliodas let a grin stretch across his facial features. Rolling up his shirt sleeves, he said to himself, "Now, what did Ban say when he tried teaching us how to make apple pie?"

With the scent of baked apples, ground cinnamon, and buttery crust floating in the air, it attracted the attention of the other Deadly Sins in residence.
Meliodas couldn't help the accomplished smirk that was permanently glued on his face. He stared proudly at his finished product, feeling confident that it was perfect. For one thing, it smelled the way it was supposed to. Typically his creations looked fine, but the scent was always just a little bit… off. He had also taken the time to taste test everything as he went, being extra cautious as he thought about the one who would eat it.
Ban, with his hands on his hips, stared critically at the seemingly harmless apple pie. Turning his gaze onto Meliodas, his eyes narrowed with suspicion. "Captain," he started, "are you sure you followed the recipe exactly as I told you?"
The Dragon's Sin of Wrath snickered sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. "Eh? For the most part… I think," he answered.
"What do you mean, I think?" the silver haired male exclaimed, veins popping out on his forehead. "You put me in charge of Kagome-hime's food! I'm not going to let you just feed her anything you please just because 'you think' it's edible!"
Meliodas pouted. "Ah, come on, Ban. You know I wouldn't let anything happen to Kagome."
"You take the first bite then!"
Merlin leaned down to also examine the freshly baked pie. Her usual amused smirk slanted her lips. "Don't forget, Captain," she said, catching the blonde's attention, "you forbade me from giving Kagome-hime any type of potion or concoction you deemed 'experimental.' If she gets sick, I won't be able to cure her."
King shook his head, a pitying look crossing his boyish features. "Poor Kagome-hime. What did she do to earn this type of punishment from the Captain?" To be subjected to Meliodas's cooking… He shuddered in horror.
From the sidelines, Gowther and Escanor shook their heads at the scene. Although the Lion's Sin of Pride wouldn't admit it out loud, he didn't think he would survive another round of the Captain's cooking. Vomiting a glittery, rainbow-colored substance had changed his sense of being. He swore he had seen his life flash before his eyes.
Gowther, although a puppet, at least had a sense of self-preservation.
From outside, Diane crouched down until she could peer inside the closest window. "Huh? What are you all talking about?" she questioned.
"The Captain made an apple pie for Kagome-hime," King answered promptly.
She smiled. "Oh, that's so sweet," she cooed.
"To eat," he added, deadpanned.
The Giant's complexion paled considerably. "Oh… I see." She nervously twirled a lock of brunette hair. "Maybe… Maybe we should take Kagome-hime to one of those cafés in town? Those are," she winced, "safer."
Meliodas frowned at his team. He supposed he should be grateful that Hawk wasn't around. Knowing the talking pig, he would've blasted Meliodas's eardrums the moment he heard about his culinary ambition.
"Geez, guys, where's your usual confidence in me?"
Merlin chuckled. "It's your fighting prowess we believe in," she said. "And your leadership skills. However…"
"I don't trust your abilities in the kitchen about as far as I could throw you," Ban finished, giving the blonde a droll stare.
Before more could be said, soft footsteps alerted the gathered Sins to a new arrival. When they turned to see the newcomer, they were all greeted with the sight of a heavily pregnant Kagome, the Crown Princess of Liones.
Half asleep, the raven haired beauty used one fisted hand to rub at her eye, trying to clear the fogginess that clouded her vision. Behind her, Hawk kept a watchful eye on her progress down the stairs, wary in case she took a misstep.
"Meliodas…?" Kagome sleepily questioned, wondering where her blonde lover was.
Meliodas grinned, quickly making his way closer. "Ah, Kagome, you're awake." He gently took the hand that wasn't rubbing at her face, lacing their fingers together affectionately. "You're just in time. I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise?" she mumbled, confused but curious. By now, her amethyst orbs were cleared of sleep and she was fully focused on the blonde male.
Meliodas presented his creation with a flourish. "Ta-da! It's an apple pie," he exclaimed, smiling widely.
Kagome's expression morphed into one of joy and excitement. "An apple pie?" she repeated. "Really? Is it for me?"
"Of course it's for you," he answered. "Last night, you said you really wanted one, right? Well, this pie is all for you."
She squealed, clapping happily. "You're the best, Meliodas!"
As Meliodas got Kagome settled comfortably into a seat, Hawk approached Ban and the others with a contented smile on his face. "Good job, Ban," he complimented. "That apple pie looks amazing. Kagome-chan is also very happy."
Ban scoffed. "I didn't make the pie."
Hawk froze, his entire body turning cold and stiff like a rock. "What do you mean you didn't make it?" he shouted, panic settling within his body.
"It's just as it sounds. I. Didn't. Make. The. Pie."
"Then who did?"
Gowther held up a finger, his facial features innocent. "The Captain did," he answered. "He appears to be quite proud of his amazing accomplishment. However, none of us were brave enough to taste this potentially lethal dessert."
Incredulous, the pink pig shouted, "And you thought it was okay to let Kagome-chan have the first bite?" Realization struck in the next instant, and Hawk immediately turned back to Kagome and Meliodas. He squealed in alarm as he watched the raven haired beauty place a forkful of pie into her mouth. "Wait, Kagome-chan—"
The other Sins held their collective breaths, all observing what would happen next. Diane covered her eyes, not wanting to bear witness to what happened next. Ban used his Snatch ability on a nearby bucket to make sure it was securely in his hands in case Kagome needed to vomit in a hurry. Despite what had been previously ordered by the Captain himself, Merlin held multiple vials of different colored liquids in her hands. Even Escanor seemed to brace himself, as if expecting a powerful opponent to challenge him.
"Yummy~!" Kagome suddenly exclaimed, her cheeks pink with pleasure and happiness. Meliodas grinned with obvious pride over the praise.
Meanwhile, Hawk and the Sins practically fell where they stood, surprised and beyond shocked by the outcome.
"What?" King exclaimed, eyes wide. "You mean the Captain's food is actually… good?"
Kagome nodded, eyes shining. "It's really tasty." She popped another morsel into her mouth as if to emphasis her words.
Ban had a dumbfounded look on his face. "You have got to be kidding me…"
Merlin put away her concoctions, smiling kindly at the pregnant woman. "And you are feeling okay, Kagome-hime? You're not experiencing pain anywhere? Do you feel any nausea?"
She gave the other dark haired female a curious glance. "No. I haven't had morning sickness for the past few weeks," she answered.
"Well… that's good."
Meliodas gave his team a stern look, which was rather childish considering his natural facial features. "Come on, you guys," he admonished. "I told you already: I wouldn't let anything happen to Kagome. She is, after all, the mother of my unborn child – and any future children I might have."
Diane nodded, breathing a sigh of relief that nothing had happened to her best friend. "I guess the Captain is right. He did promise to protect her for the rest of their lives. I guess that means he would protect her from himself, too."
As the others nodded and muttered their agreements, Kagome happily continued munching on the apple pie, blissfully ignorant to the potential danger she had been put in. So yummy~!
