Levi casually read the newspaper on the couch, his dark eyes scanning for any articles that caught his attention for more than a fleeting moment. He slowed when he reached the entertainment section, his attention focused on anything that included Kagome.
He mentally sighed. It had been nearly a year since she had forcefully broken down the barriers he had built between them, their relationship taking an irreversible course. He couldn't say he regretted anything that happened afterward. In fact, he'd found a lot of happiness having Kagome as his partner and lover.
But that didn't mean he was okay with seeing other guys paw at her. Even before they had an intimate relationship, he'd had to stop himself from punching their lights out. Or shooting them. Now that Kagome was his, however…
Levi scowled, expression darkening, as he caught sight of a picture of Kagome with her male lead for a promotion to their new movie.
"Why are you making such a scary face, Levi?" Kagome asked, entering the living room with her iPhone in one hand. Dressed down in a T-shirt and jean shorts, her silky, raven-colored hair was gathered in a messy bun at the nape of her neck.
She's too pretty for her own good, he mentally sighed. He would need to calculate the amount of ammo he currently had before her next social event. How else was he supposed to keep those horny mongrels away from her?
Levi snapped the newspaper closed, setting it aside. "Nothing that should concern you, brat," he answered without any actual heat to his tone. There was an affectionate undertone, however, if one knew him and his personality. "Come here."
Although she pouted, she still approached and comfortably sat in his lap. "Feeling possessive?" she teased.
"Tch." He leaned down to slant his mouth across hers, kissing her heatedly. When he pulled back, he quietly admitted, "Perhaps."
She giggled. "You're so cute, Levi."
A light blush stained his cheeks and he suddenly found it difficult to look her in the eye. "Shut up."
"Oh, that reminds me," she said, gesturing to her iPhone. "I'm going out tomorrow night with the girls."
"Which girls?" he suspiciously questioned. He could tolerate most of her female friends, but there were a couple he suspected were up to no good. Being a celebrity and being forced into the public eye meant Kagome never had true privacy. Scandals were also common. He wouldn't be surprised if someone plotted to have Kagome photographed in a compromising position to sell to the tabloids.
And as her bodyguard – not just her boyfriend – he would never let any harm come to her.
Kagome waved off his concerns. "You don't need to worry," she reassured. "I'm just getting dinner with Sango, Shiori, and Ayame."
Levi breathed a little easier. Sango was an actress who starred mainly in action movies. Shiori was a talented makeup artist, while Ayame was newly established in the business after rising to fame for her role in a popular television series.
All in all, he shouldn't have to worry about Kagome spending an extended period of time with the other girls nor did he have to worry about any of them setting her up for a scandal.
But mostly, he didn't have to commit mass murder because of some foolish idiots who decided to flirt with the raven-haired beauty.
"What restaurant are you girls going to? I'll drop you off and pick you up."
"There's no need. Sango's boyfriend, Miroku, is going to be our driver." She smiled innocently. "He flirted with some other girl, so he's doing his best to get back into her good graces."
"What a fucking moron," Levi replied, his tone deadpan. But he soon shrugged it off. It wouldn't be the first time Miroku had done something stupid to anger Sango. He suspected it also wouldn't be the last time. "Still," he added, "I would feel better if I were with you. I am still your bodyguard, after all."
She gave him a tender kiss. "I'll be careful. Consider it as having a night off, Levi."
"Kagome…"
"You've been working so hard lately. When's the last time you took a break? Come on, it's just one night. Everything will be fine."
Levi sighed deeply. "Fine," he finally acquiesced. His eyes sharpened as he gazed seriously at the raven-haired beauty. "But you have to swear to me one thing, Kagome."
She blinked. "What is it?"
"You're not allowed to have any alcohol."
"But–"
"No."
"Levi–"
"Then you're not going."
Kagome waved her hands back and forth, in surrender. "Okay, okay," she quickly said. "No alcohol."
"Swear it. Out loud. To my face. Now."
There was clear exasperation in her tone. "Geez, what are you trying to say about me?"
"Now, Kagome. I'm waiting."
"Okay, okay," she exclaimed, knowing Levi would follow through with his threat. "I swear, I won't have any alcohol. Happy?"
"Ecstatic," was his too-dry response.

"Consider this a night off?" he scoffed out loud, his brows furrowed. His entire body was tense, his shoulders stiff. He was seated on the couch, but he couldn't relax long enough to settle down. Not even reading the newspaper was helping. He couldn't focus on the words, not when his thoughts were centered on Kagome. "This is fucking insanity."
Kagome had left the house nearly two hours ago. Levi had watched as she got into Sango and Miroku's car, the trio picking up Shiori on their way to the restaurant. From what he'd researched, the restaurant took pride in their privacy protocols especially when their main clientele were celebrities. They were very strict about keeping the paparazzi away, too, which had been a big concern.
He tapped his fingers, agitated. He released a deep breath. "It's just one night. If anything, she'll be back in another hour or so."
What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he settle down?
"Tch. I'm going fucking crazy. It's all that brat's fault."
Maybe he should've gone to the gun range and practiced his marksmanship. At least that way he could've taken out his frustration by blasting some holes into the targets. If he grabbed his gear now, then he could still–
His cell phone rang. Levi practically jumped to grab and answer it.
"Kagome, is that you? What's wrong?"
"Levi~" her melodious voice drew out, and he instantly knew what happened.
That damn brat… She went and did it, didn't she? Even though she swore… And to my face, too? The audacity of this woman… I'll teach her a lesson she won't soon forget, he inwardly swore.
"Levi~" she cooed out again. "I miss you, Levi~"
"How much alcohol have you consumed?" he asked, voice deadpan.
She giggled. "Alcohol? I would never. I even swore I wouldn't – and right to your face, too."
His dark eyes sharpened. "Yes, indeed, you did swear it, didn't you? Knowing that, you still did it." His tone darkened. "I hope you're ready for the consequences."
"Ooh," she drunkenly squealed. "That sounds so naughty~"
"N-Naughty?" he spluttered. How could she be so shameless? He sighed, feeling a headache throbbing. "Where are the others?"
Kagome laughed as if he told a joke. "They're fine, they're fine," she dismissed. "Although," she gasped dramatically, "Sango was telling us all about how Miroku was flirting – flirting, Levi – with that other woman! Can you believe that? He even had the gall – the absolute gall – to ask if she would bare him a child! What is this, an anime?" She suddenly sniffled. "You… You wouldn't do that to me, would you, Levi? You wouldn't, right? You'd never flirt with another girl behind my back and then – and then ask her to have your baby. Right?"
Levi sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose to help alleviate his headache. It was quickly turning into a migraine.
Kagome's tone took a one-eighty, becoming angry.
"What? Do you already have some hussy that I don't know about, Levi? You stepping out on me? How dare you! After everything we've been through… You would just throw it all away – like it meant nothing? Well, mister, I'll have you know – the only one allowed to have your baby is me. Got it? Just wait until I get home. You're going to show me this homewrecker you've been stepping out with and I'll show her who's the alpha bitch – because that's me! Understand?"
What. The. Hell.
"Ooh, that reminds me," she continued, and her tone went back to happy and drunk as though she hadn't been cursing at him a second ago. Levi sighed, wondering if he was mentally prepared for her next rant. "Ayame was telling us all about her boyfriend, too. You've met Kouga before, right? He's all flashy, loud, and kind of arrogant." She giggled. "You wanted to shoot him because he flirted with me. Remember?"
"I tend to want to shoot any man who comes near you," he admitted without so much as a blink of remorse. "You'll have to narrow it down for me."
"He called me his woman."
"Oh, that fucking idiot." Levi remembered that loudmouth racecar driver now. It may have been better if he hadn't recalled the other male's face. Or his past transgression. "What about him?"
"Get this – Ayame said that they were arranged to be married by their families ever since they were teenagers. But Kouga denies it! He claimed that there was no such promise. How cruel is that? They're together now, but it's all thanks to Ayame's persistence and undying love and devotion. Shouldn't that be taken into consideration?"
Levi blinked, uncaring. "Sounds like she stalked the idiot until he finally caved in to his family's pressure," he commented. Now that he knew the situation, he had to wonder if Ayame and Kouga were a legit couple. Or was it one-sided? Either way, it wasn't his problem.
"You wouldn't do that, would you, Levi?" she implored. "If I said that we were meant to be married, you wouldn't deny it, right? Right?"
Oh, Kami-sama, here we go again, he thought. He didn't think he could take it.
"Oh, I get it," she raged, drunk and angry once again. "It's that hussy you've been seeing behind my back, isn't it? After everything we've been through! You would be totally fine having an arranged marriage with her, but not with me. Is that it? Well, mister–"
Levi stopped her. "Yes, I know. You're the alpha bitch. If anyone is going to have my baby, it's you. If I'm going to be stuck in an arranged marriage, it'll be to you. Now shut up. I'm coming to pick you up. I'm leaving the house now."
Like a light switch, Kagome was back to being happy and drunk. "Aw, you're so sweet, Levi. I'll see you soon! I love you." Then she hung up.
A faint blush colored his cheeks at her words of affection. "Geez, that brat…" he muttered. She knew just what to say and do to twist his insides. "The least she could've done was wait for me to say I love her, too, damn it."

Leaving the restaurant had been easier than anticipated. But handling a drunk Kagome had gone about as expected. Upon arrival, all Levi had to do was promise bodily harm to kick Miroku's ass into gear. Miroku was in charge of getting Sango safely home, while a buzzed Shiori called a cab for herself and a completely drunk Ayame. That left Kagome's care solely up to Levi.
Carrying his precious cargo bridal-style into the house, he kicked the door closed with a foot. "I hope you're prepared for the hangover you'll be facing in the morning, you damn, disobedient, brat." He had arrived at the conclusion that that would be a sufficient punishment. That, and she would remember everything she said to him during their phone conversation. She'd most likely die from embarrassment.
Kagome dramatically pouted. "Are you still angry because I had some alcohol?"
He gave her a pointed stare. "You swore you wouldn't have any. To my face, I might add. And this is not 'some.' You had more than enough."
"It's not like anything bad happened."
His brow rose with disbelief. "Nothing bad happened? Who called me and started screaming bloody murder about hussies, having my child, and arranged marriages?"
The way she scowled was adorable, but Levi would never say it out loud. The raven-haired beauty already had too much power over him. There was no need to add to her growing arsenal.
"What are you talking about, Levi? Who were you talking to earlier?" she demanded to know. "Oh, I see how it is! The moment I turn my back, you're off flirting and talking to your side chick. And after everything we've been through! I can't believe you would–"
She released a startled yelp in the next second, her rant cut short as he tossed her onto the bed.
"What are you–"
Levi popped open the top buttons of his dress shirt, his eyes heated as he gazed down at Kagome. Despite the stern expression on his handsome features, his words came out as a growling rumble that sent pleasurable shivers down her spine.
"Didn't you already claim to be my alpha bitch?" The smirk that curved his lips was downright sinful and sexy. "Prove it. I'll let you have my baby. I'll agree to marry you. Whatever the hell you want, Kagome."
After he finished unbuttoning and removing his shirt, he let it drop onto the bedroom floor. His smirk widened.
"Hope you're ready for a long night…"

The next morning, Levi was feeling refreshed and drinking a hot cup of coffee when he heard Kagome stumble down the stairs. When his dark gaze caught sight of her, he couldn't help the self-satisfied feeling that warmed his insides.
Her facial features clearly gave her away. There was a type of horrified mortification painted across her flawless features. Embarrassment flushed her cheeks, while her amethyst eyes couldn't decide if they could look at him directly or not.
"Last night… I… You…"
He took another drink of his coffee. "Quite frankly, brat, you surprised me. Typically, when you drink alcohol, you become very bold. But the way you rode me last night, how you kept begging me to fuck you… You definitely proved yourself," he said, almost like he was discussing the weather. "And your stamina has greatly improved as well."
Levi swore Kagome's entire face turned tomato-red. He briefly wondered how far down the blush went because it clearly went past the collar of her T-shirt.
She finally settled on burying her face into her hands, no longer able to face him. "I am never, ever drinking again," she groaned miserably.
"Tch. This is why I say you shouldn't have any fucking alcohol. You're such a light weight. Don't even get me started on how you always scream at me about imaginary hussies and shit."
I feel as though I had way too much fun writing this chapter, but I also feel that - maybe - I portrayed drunk!Kagome and Levi's reactions perfectly ;) What do you guys think? Let me know in a review at the bottom!
As always, thank you to everyone who reviewed, followed, and added these prompts to their favorites list! It's because of you and your kind words that make this possible :)
