~Maji Burger~
Kagome casually sipped her drink, amethyst orbs riveted to the small mountain of burgers and fries her companion was steadily consuming. Judging by his happy, content expression as he continued munching, he didn't appear as though he would be stopping anytime soon. Considering his overall height, muscle definition, and strict workout regimen, she supposed his metabolism was burning more calories than the average teenager.
But still…
Kagami felt his brow twitch, finally noticing how Kagome was staring at his meal. "What?" he questioned, defensive. "Why are you staring like that?"
"Taiga," she started, blinking innocently, "don't you think that's… a bit much?" She would never understand how he stayed so fit with the amount of food he was able to consume. How did he manage not even getting a stomachache?
She mentally pouted. If she could eat as much as Kagami, she'd be as big as a whale. As it was, if she ate just one burger and fries, she felt like her school uniform didn't fit correctly anymore. It just wasn't fair…
"Shut up," Kagami muttered, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "You act as though you've never seen me eat before."
Kagome smiled sweetly, one hand reaching out to place over one of his. She enjoyed the way his blush spread to encompass his entire face, silently giggling at his too-innocent response.
They had been dating for almost six months, but his reactions to anything remotely romantic or intimate were adorable. He was just so easy to embarrass.
"I know, but it seems as though the amount has been increasing lately."
Kagami replied, "The coach has been scheduling more training for us. By the time practice is over, I'm starving." He proceeded to unwrap his next burger as if to add emphasis.
"Coach also wants us to work more on our teamwork, but Kagami gets so hot-headed that she scolds him instead," Kuroko's voice suddenly spoke up.
The red-headed basketball player coughed, choking on the bite of food he'd taken. "K-Kuroko," he exclaimed, seeing his ghostly haired teammate casually seated beside Kagome. He felt his brow twitch, clearly agitated, as Kuroko sipped his vanilla milkshake without a care in the world. "When the hell did you get here?"
Kuroko blinked. "I've been here the whole time," he answered. His gaze moved, landing on Kagome. He nodded. "Higurashi-san."
"Hi, Kuroko-kun," the raven-haired beauty greeted in return, smiling. She never seemed fazed when he would make his 'sudden' appearances. "How have you been?"
"I'm fine," he said, smiling gently. "Yourself?"
"I'm a little stressed about the upcoming midterms," she sheepishly admitted. "I'm pretty confident about most of the subjects, but math is my arch nemesis."
Kuroko nodded in understanding. "I'm sure you'll do better than you think you will."
"Hey," Kagami darkly interrupted, "you two better not be ignoring me, damn it."
"Of course not, Taiga," Kagome instantly replied.
The only response Kuroko gave was to take another drink from his milkshake, blinking innocently.
"Tch." The red head rolled his eyes. "Since you're here, you might as well take this." He placed a burger and fries in front of Kuroko and Kagome, though he wouldn't make eye contact with either. "You both need to eat more."
"Thank you," Kuroko said, the words monotone and gaze deadpan.
Kagami growled. "Well, if you don't want it, you don't have to eat it. Just give it back."
"I didn't say that. You shouldn't put words in other people's mouths, Kagami," Kuroko said, starting to unwrap the offered burger. "That's a bad habit, you know."
"Why, you–"
From the sidelines, Kagome listened as the two basketball teammates continued to bicker, smiling at the pair. Silently, she began unwrapping her own burger and took a bite.
Kagami really was adorable, she thought, especially when he clumsily tried to take care of others.
