YI*KH*YI
Midnight Milky Way Diner
After successfully completing a mission that Gojo-sensei had sent Yuji and the others on, the pink-haired teenager had been exhausted. It was late and all he wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep for maybe two weeks straight. His stomach, however, had other ideas. It was growling, grumbling, and basically threatening to eat itself if it didn't receive nourishment in the next ten seconds.
Yuji had attempted to ask if Fushiguro and Nobara had wanted to join him in a late-night snack, but he'd been turned down coldly.
"No way," Nobara had said, flipping her hair over her shoulder haughtily. "I'm tired and filthy. I'm going back to the dorms to take a hot bath then I'm going to get my beauty sleep. Besides, eating this late isn't good for a young maiden's complexion."
Under his breath, Yuji had muttered, "What young maiden?"
Fushiguro, equally bloody and disheveled as the other two, gave his fellow first years a bored expression. "Not interested," was his only response. Then, shoving his hands within his pockets, he started walking down the street, presumably back to Jujutsu High.
Yuji comically pouted, waving a fist in the air at the darker-haired teenager. "Oh, come on, Fushiguro! Don't be like that," he called out, but to no avail. His words were soundly ignored.
On his own, Yuji continued to pout for several minutes before his stomach growled again. Pressing a hand to the area, he grimaced. He really should try to find something to eat, though not a lot of places were open due to the late hour. His options would be limited, but it was better than going without.
Sukuna's mouth appeared on his cheek, the sharp teeth menacing, though his words didn't sound as harsh as it normally did.
"Go left."
Yuji curiously hummed. His eyes moved in that direction, but his feet stopped moving. "Why?"
"Because I said so. Don't question me and go left."
Rolling his eyes, the pink-haired teenager grumbled, "Fine, but it better lead me to food. I'm starving," he acquiesced.
Sukuna's mouth grinned, a truly terrifying sight. "Oh, it'll lead us to something good, alright," was all he said before disappearing back within his vessel.
Yuji continued wandering until he came upon a diner he hadn't noticed before. Eyes brightening at the thought of filling his stomach, he eagerly entered.
"Welcome," a sweet, melodious voice greeted. The owner of said voice was a beautiful, raven-haired teenager who appeared to be the same age as Yuji. Her skin was pale, like moonshine, smooth and flawless. She was petite, nearly a head shorter than his own height, with the delicate hands and feet to fit.
But what really caught his attention were the amethyst orbs that stared back at him, luminous and sparkling with life and an unknown power he'd never seen before. From within, he could feel Sukuna shudder in the girl's mere presence.
Yuji's eyes widened. He'd never felt Sukuna react that way to anyone before, not even when the King of Curses had sparred with Gojo-sensei at the very beginning. Was it because of her? But why would Sukuna lead Yuji here?
The raven-haired beauty continued speaking, catching Yuji's attention. "My name is Kagome. Would you like to dine-in?"
"Uh, hello," he greeted back, cheeks flushing red out of embarrassment. He fumbled with his words, unsure what type of situation he suddenly found himself in. "Um, yes! Yes, I would like to dine-in, please."
While Kagome led him to an available seat, he quietly muttered, his words obviously meant for Sukuna, "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
Sukuna's mouth appeared once more, grinning rather maliciously. "Relax, would you? I told you that I would lead us to something good, didn't I?"
Yuji scowled. "I'm not going to let you hurt her."
"Tch. How you managed to survive this long is beyond me." Sukuna was silent for a second before saying, "She's a rare type of being. You'll see soon enough."
Kagome gestured for Yuji to sit, a pleasant smile on her pretty features. Yuji felt his cheeks heat once more. He had always thought that he would be attracted to girls like Jennifer Lawrence; tall, with curves in all the right places. But there was something different about Kagome that captured his – and Sukuna's – attention.
"Is there anything I can get started for you while you look over the menu?" Kagome offered.
Yuji opened the menu, his eyes scanning the contents. "Umm, I'm not very picky," he admitted. He shot a boyish smile at her. "What would you recommend, Kagome-san?"
"Our diner is known for making a classic strawberry milkshake, if you're into sweets."
His smile widened. "That sounds amazing! I'll have one of those, thank you."
Kagome returned his smile with a mega-watt one of her own. "Sure thing! I'll go put it in for you and I'll be back shortly." With a smooth turn on her heel, she walked away to fulfill his drink order.
It was silent while he looked over the menu options, not wanting to risk speaking to Sukuna in case Kagome unexpectedly came back. The way his stomach grumbled kept his focus on food and the need to quench his hunger. All of the items looked and sounded delicious, and Yuji's brow furrowed with indecision.
A few minutes later, Kagome came back with his milkshake. Yuji absolutely drooled as he took in the classic tall glass, the pink, cold liquid, and the small mountain of whipped cream on top. A strawberry had been split and wedged onto the glass's rim, with a pink and white straw to finish. The raven-haired beauty hadn't been lying when she called it a classic strawberry milkshake.
"Wow, that looks so good," Yuji exclaimed, eyes sparkling with excitement.
The moment she put it down, his hands instantly latched onto the chilled glass and his lips found the straw. With a happy hum, he started gulping the milkshake to finally sate his hunger.
When Kagome took the seat across from him, Yuji's brows rose questioningly. He stopped drinking, his entire focus now centering on the raven-haired beauty.
"Uhh, Kagome-san…?"
The smile that curved her lips was a little too pleasant, borderline predatory. He gulped, not knowing what to expect. His experience with girls were limited, mainly having to deal with Nobara and Maki, so what he did know were two things:
Girls could be crazy. Batshit crazy.
Do not mess with them.
If he were to die right now, he didn't believe even being the vessel of Sukuna would revive him. Well, he thought, at least then the higher-ups wouldn't have to worry and plot my execution.
Kagome's sweet voice spoke then, catching Yuji's undivided attention.
"Since it's quiet, I figured I could ask you some questions. Mainly, I'm curious about that dark energy you're hiding. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were a vessel of some sort."
Sukuna's mouth appeared on his cheek before Yuji could react. "So, I was right. You're a priestess," he all but rumbled, a gleeful, bloodthirsty grin plastering upon his lips.
Priestess? What was that? Was it different from being a sorcerer? Too many questions, not enough food in his system to function properly. "Can I get another strawberry milkshake?"
