"I'm telling you, Kagome," Stiles excitedly enthused, practically kicking open his front door to allow the two teens entrance, "you have not truly lived until you've tasted bagel bites. Trust me – I know you'll love them."
Kagome gave her companion a curious glance, her eyes then dropping to the grocery bags he carried. "But did you really have to buy so much?" she questioned. Guilt caused her brows to furrow. Stiles had been adamant about paying for all the supplies to make these 'bagel bites' he was so excited about. Although she didn't know what the big deal was, she silently admitted that his enthusiasm was cute. But still… Couldn't he have let her pay for at least half?
Stiles shot her an incredulous look. "Of course, I did," he responded. Leading them into the kitchen, he placed the groceries down and started to unpack what they would need. "Homemade is the best way. It's ten-times better than the frozen kind, you know."
She watched as he took out the plastic bag of mini bagels, pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced pepperoni, and other toppings that he deemed worthy.
"I wouldn't know, actually, which is why we're doing this," she lightly teased.
He gave a playful wink, though the goofy grin on his face stopped the flirty gesture from being completely suave. Still, she knew her cheeks had turned a faint pink.
"Consider this as a way to further your culinary education. We're expanding your horizons."
Kagome giggled.
"Besides," Stiles added, "this is all I know how to make." His statement was completely shameless. But it was also why he tended to stop by the McCall household frequently. Scott's mom was a great cook. "And I don't make this for just anyone either."
"I'm honored."
Flashing a smile her way, Stiles grabbed a cutting board and the other utensils they would need to assemble their bagel bites. "Let's get started," he cheered, wielding the bread knife to slice the bagels in half.
"Uh, Stiles," Kagome began, tone unsure and a little scared, "I don't know if I trust you with a sharp object…"
"Nonsense. What could possibly go wrong?"

"Please don't tell my dad that I almost burned the kitchen down," Stiles pleaded with Kagome, his tone desperate and beseeching. "There are many other ways I will – and can – disappoint him, but this will not be one of them."
Kagome's amethyst eyes were focused on the charred toaster oven. She thoughtfully hummed. "Well, I guess the damage could've been worse," she said. Thankfully, it didn't appear as though the walls or anything else had been damaged. She then smiled at the other teen. "At least you didn't accidentally slice your finger off."
His stare was deadpan. "It's still early."
If she were in an anime, she knew she would've sweat-dropped. Instead, she released an uneasy chuckle and turned the focus onto their finished product.
"The homemade bagel bites we made together look really good."
Stiles brightened at that; his thoughts no longer centered on the most likely destroyed toaster oven. "Yeah," he agreed. "It's amazing that they didn't burn or anything. Maybe the toaster oven catching on fire gave it a smokey flavor. You know, for a little extra something-something."
Kagome gave him an indulgent smile. Despite his antics and overall goofiness, she knew one thing for certain:
"You're lucky you're so cute, Stiles."
While he did appear confused by her words, there was a pink blush dusting his cheeks. "What is that supposed to mean?" he demanded, a little offended. He paused. "Wait. You think I'm cute?" And just like that, his expression was happy, hopeful, and eager to hear more.
In response, all she could do was giggle.
