Chapter 20

Previously:

Ignoring ron, harry turned to sirius, and said "let's get you freedom, sirius."

Sirius started to cry tears of joy, as he agreed.

Now:

"Change into your dog form, sirius," harry said. "After all, you are still a wanted criminal." sirius nodded and changed into his animagus form. Harry quickly grabbed ron's arm, to prevent him from falling. Let's go turn the rat in, sirius," harry said, with sirius barking in agreement.

After walking for a while, harry took ron to the school's hospital wing, and laid him on a bed. He then went to the headmaster's office. He knocked on the door.

"Come in, harry," albus said. Harry entered the room. Upon entering the room, he saw that there were two more people, aside from the headmaster. Harry looked them over closely.

The first one was a man that wore REALLY dark blue robes. So dark, they were almost black. He also had a bowler hat that he held in his hands rather weakly, as he wrung his hands. From his posture, he was a real coward, concerned with popularity, instead of doing something right.

The second was what looked like a severe, no nonsense woman with her red hair in a tight bun on the back of her head, and wearing a monocle over one of her eyes. She wore robes of deep crimson. Her posture was ramrod straight, and tense, showing that she's going to react in a heartbeat, if there was a threat.

"Headmaster, who are these two?" harry asked. These people, harry, are cornelius fudge, the minister of magic and Madame bones, the head of DMLE." he introduced the two of them.

"I see," he simply said. He turned to the two of them. "It's nice to meet you," he said.

"Agreed," madam bones said. Fudge simply nodded with a smile. "I'm going to be blunt, here: was sirius black even GIVEN A TRIAL?!" harry growled.

Fudge snorted. Harry turned his gaze to him. "He didn't even NEED a trial, to know that he was guilty," fudge simply said. Harry scoffed. "Useless little thing," harry insulted the minister.

Fudge's face grew red. "Why you little-" "a question for you, madame," harry interrupted fudge's blustering.

"Yes, young man?" she asked with amusement (she was enjoying fudge's blustering. Who wouldn't?). "First: what is DMLE, exactly?" harry asked. "It stands for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement," amelia bones said. "So~, it's the magical version of muggle police?" harry asked. "Essentially," madame bones said.

"If new evidence came up, would you be able to get sirius black his trial, like he should've gotten all those years ago?" harry asked. "Yes, i would," amelia said.

Harry turned to face the minister. "Alright, YOU can leave. After all, i wouldn't put it past you to tamper with evidence, JUST to keep your position," harry simply said, while giving a subtle jab at the minister.

The minister's face grew red in rage. "Why you-" "you can either leave, or i will stun you, minister. Your choice," harry said. Fudge turned to the fireplace, threw in some powder, and said "minister of magic's office." then he walked through the fire, disappearing from the headmaster's office.

Harry turned to madame bones. "Do you know the animagus revealing and reversal charms?" he asked. "I do," she said. Harry brought out peter, stunned him, then put him on the floor. "Cast them at this rat," he simply said.

Amelia cast the spells at the rat, revealing him to them all. Albus and amelia were shocked. "As you can see, sirius black is, at the very least, innocent of killing peter pettigrew," harry said.

"I'll make sure that a trial for sirius is done tomorrow," amelia promised, before she used the fireplace to go to her office in the ministry. Harry undid the spells on peter and put him back in the cage.

The next day

Severus was attempting to give harry detention, that he had to serve immediately, just to prevent him from going to the trial. Harry's response? "Fuck off, snivellous, you hateful man-child" before he left to go to the trial.

At the trial

Everyone was gathered, the vultures (press) were there, as well. The room was large and circular with a single chair in the middle of the floor. The lone chair had chains on it. "Order, order," albus said, using some loud noise spells. After it was quiet, albus began. "We are here for the trial of sirius black," he simply said. The members in the hall started loudly complaining. Albus simply let loose a loud noise spell. However, before he could speak, harry spoke up. "Oh, will you lot stop acting like damn children?!" he demanded.

"Hem, hem," a sickeningly sweet voice said. Harry turned to the source. He saw a woman that looked like a toad in human form, with a good deal of fat around her neck. Not enough to choke her, but enough to make her look like a toad who likes FAR too much pink, as evidenced by her rather ATROCIOUS clothing. On a side note, her clothes look like they were about to rip apart, judging by how strained her clothes were. She also had an air of superiority about her, given the way she held herself.

"Who are YOU?" harry asked. "I, young man, am the undersecretary for the minister of magic, dolores umbridge," she introduced herself. "And this trial is rather pointless, as sirius black is guilty," she said. "Ah, so no one, then," harry said uncaringly. Dolores was turning puce as the members of the trial started to laugh at her. "Besides, i checked the trail records." he openly glared like a dragon at the court members. "The LESTRANGES of all people were given trials. Yet, you denied a man the right to a trial? Sounds like someone was covering something up, and wanted sirius black out of the way," harry declared.

The press went ballistic at the news they had heard, and they were writing it all down.

"Let's just get this trial started," harry said. Sirius black was brought in and strapped to the chair in the middle of the room, the chains came to life and wrapped themselves around sirius black. Amelia approached sirius. "Mr. black, do you consent to veritaserum?" she asked.

Sirius had hope in his eyes. "I do, gladly and willingly," he declared. That sentence alone from him caused most of the people that believed he was guilty to have second thoughts about his guilt. Amelia bones fed the potion to sirius, who swallowed the potion eagerly. After the potion took effect, his eyes became dull.

"What is your name?" amelia asked. "Sirius orion black III," sirius answered. "When you were born?" she asked. "February 12, 1978 (i couldn't remember if it was mentioned in canon, so i made it as close to his actual age as i could). "Let it be known that the veritaserum is in full effect," amelia bones announced. "Now, to begin the trial. First question: did you betray the potters?" amelia asked.

"No, i did not," immediately after he answered, the assembled spellcasters started to complain and deny it. "SHUT UP!" harry yelled. After they were quiet, harry said, "if you idiots were paying attention, then you would have heard that amelia bones confirmed that the veritaserum is in full effect." harry's sentence caused many to pale.

"Were you the secret keeper for the potters?" amelia asked. "That was the original plan, but james, lily and i all agreed that i was far too obvious. Therefore, we went with our friend peter pettigrew," sirius explained, his tone dull.

The audience was shocked.

"What really happened, that night?" amelia asked. "I went to go check on them, but the house was destroyed. I saw that james was dead, looking as though he put up a real fight," sirius smiled at that. "He was one of the better fighters amongst our friends. Having a bad feeling, i went upstairs to harry's room, and saw lily, draped over harry's crib, with harry crying, a cut on his forehead," sirius said, tears coming from his dull eyes. "After i managed to say a soft prayer for them to find peace and happiness in the next life, i gently picked harry up, soothed him until he was asleep, and carried him downstairs. After i managed to exit the destroyed house, i ran into hagrid of all people. He said that he was here to take harry to a safe place, on albus's orders. I vehemently denied, as it was MY duty to take care of him. After arguing for about 20 minutes, i reluctantly, handed harry to hagrid. I then lent him my motorcycle to him, so as to get harry there quicker. After hagrid took harry and was gone, i went to peter's hiding place, to see if he was alright," sirius explained, before he snarled. "I got close to the front door, just as he was coming out. I managed to figure out that he had betrayed his friends. However, before i could stun him to turn him in, he started yelling that i had betrayed lily and james, he then hit me with a confounding curse and a tickling charm, sent a blasting curse at a nearby gas line, cut off his finger, turned into his rat form, and fled into the sewers," sirius finished explaining.

One part of the explanation in particular caught people's attention. "What do you mean that it was your job to care for harry?" amelia asked.

"Simple: i am his sworn godfather," sirius said. That one sentence cause a loud commotion. "SHUT UP, YOU IDIOTS!" harry yelled. The complainers quieted.

"Are you a death eater?" amelia asked. "No," sirius simply said. The audience started to complain, again. Having had enough, harry literally muted them all. "I get that my last name is 'black', but i NEVER bought into that blood superiority crap. Never have, never will," sirius explained.

"One last question before you get the antidote: who performed your arrest, and did you receive a trial?" amelia asked. "Barty crouch sr. arrested me. No, i did not receive my trial. I was held in a cell in the ministry for a few hours, then i was shipped off to azkaban.

"Thank you for your cooperation," amelia said, before giving him the antidote for the veritaserum.

(a/n: i'm gonna skip peter's trial, since we all know he's guilty)

After the trials were over, harry removed the spell that muted the others and went over to sirius. "Congratulations on getting your freedom, sirius," harry said. "Thanks, pup," sirius said, giving harry a hug. What are you going to do now?" sirius asked.

"Gonna go to charlie's reserve and visit rose," harry said. "Who's rose, pup?" sirius asked. "My dragon daughter, sirius," harry simply said.

Sirius was stunned. Judging by the way his mouth is hanging nearly to the floor, he's REALLY shocked.

Later

We see peter on a ship being taken to azkaban (his wand was snapped). Suddenly, there were flashes of green light, and the guards that were escorting peter to azkaban were dead. Peter looked around, and saw the one that killed the guards. "Crouch," he simply said. Crouch sneered, and said, "indeed, peter. It's time for you to return to our master."

Peter gulped in fear. As the saying goes: out of the frying pan, and into the fire.

The dragon reserve

After harry got to the reserve, harry met with charlie. Charlie had a bad expression on his face. Harry sighed. "Your bosses?" harry asked. Charlie nodded. "They want me to stay away from rose?" he asked. Charlie nodded again. "They want me to never come back?" he asked. Charlie hesitated, then nodded. "Who will get the reserve, should those idiots perish?" harry asked. "I would," charlie said. Harry nodded. "Welp, i'm off to visit my daughter. If they come after us, bon appetit," harry said. Charlie gulped, then nodded.

Harry left to go find his dragon daughter, his human daughter on his shoulder. After searching for about 20 minutes, he found rose being harassed by a bunch of males. Growling, harry marched over to them. Shion, sensing trouble, jumped off her fathers shoulder and hung back.

§what the hell do you think you males are doing, going after my daughter?!§ harry hissed at them.

§she smells incredible, so we want to get to know her better§ one male said.

Harry looked at rose. §do you like their attention, my hatchling?§ he asked.

§no, mama, i don't§ rose replied. §they make me uneasy§ she said.

Harry turned towards the males. §LEAVE§ he essentially roared at them. The males ran away, not wanting to deal with a mother dragon. §better now, rose?§ he asked her. §much better, mama§ rose said.

Just then, charlie and shion walked up. "What was that about?" charlie asked. "A bunch of males were bothering rose. Said that they liked her scent and wanted to get to know her," Harry explained.

"Ah, i see it must be that time of year then," charlie said. "Time of year?" harry asked. Seeing as he was in front of a child, charlie leaned next to harry's ear. "Mating season," he simply said, before backing away. Harry growled at that. "Not without MY APPROVAL, they won't!" harry declared.

"Right, just thought you should know," charlie explained, before he left.

Harry turned to look at rose. §want to see something i discovered the last time i was here, rose?§ he asked. Rose turned to her mother. §what is it, mama?§ harry smirked, before turning into his animagus form, shocking rose and shion.

§MAMA!§ rose declared, before cuddling up with him. Harry turned his massive head to rose, and licked her forehead. After he did that, he turned to shion, extended his neck a bit, gently picked her up by the back of her jacket (picture what a mother animal does, when they pick up their young by their necks to carry them) and brought her next to them. Then he wrapped his wings and tail around them, before resting his head on his tail.

A good amount of time later, but not quite school starting, yet

We see charlie running up to them. "Harry?" he asked, with no sign of harry. The largest dragon picked their head up and faced charlie, a large lightning bolt image over an eye, and its eyes heterochromatic. Charlie was baffled. "That you, harry?" he asked. The dragon simply nodded. Charlie quickly shook his head, and decided to say something that brought him over to them. "Harry, it's time for the quidditch world cup," he said excitedly.

The large dragon simply tilted its head in confusion.
