Chapter Two
Virgil waited for Dr Taylor Rynn to reply.
Dr Taylor Rynn took a minute to think before answering. "Yes you can assist, you can monitor Claire's vitals"
Virgil nods. "Thank you ma'am"
Dr Rynn and Virgil took Claire to the operating room, both Dr Rynn and Virgil went to scrub up before going in to the operating room. Claire was already ready with the heart and BP monitor connected to her as well as a tube in her mouth, Virgil sat on one side of Claire monitoring her heart rate and blood pressure.
Dr Rynn made an incision on Claire's head where one of the nurses had shaved her hair, the doctor started the medical drill and proceeded to make two small hole, so the blood from the brain bleed could be released. After a hour and half Dr Rynn was satisfied that the bleed on the brain had stopped, she closed up the incision the stitched it.
Dr Rynn looks at the monitor then to Virgil. "Claire is stable and we can take her back to her room to recover"
Nodding and sighing a little relieved, Virgil replies. "That's good news, thank you"
With Claire now back in her hospital room, the whole family was allowed to be with her. Sitting on one side of Claire was Scott and Virgil, on the other side sat on chairs was Jeff and Grandma Tracy, while Alan sat in the corner play on his hand held game and Gordon was leaning over watching him. By the window looking up at the sky, John was pray and hoping his baby sister would wake up soon.
It had been four days since Claire was hurt and had surgery, only her brothers Scott and Virgil were in the room, they had refused to go to the hotel rest as they didn't want to leave Claire along.
Scott held Claire's hand while talking to Virgil. "Is this normal for Claire to still be unconscious?"
Virgil turns to Scott for a minute. "No it's not…… I thing Dr Rynn has been giving Claire a sedative"
Scott was worried. "What…… why?"
Dr Rynn heard while walking in to the room. "I'm sorry I just want your sister to at least recover a little before waking up, we have stopped giving Claire the sedative early this morning and should be wake up soon"
Both Scott and Virgil nod at the doctor, Scott went back to watching Claire, while Virgil watch Dr Rynn check his sister's vitals and write on the clipboard, then put it back on the end of the bed and leaves.
It had been a few hour when Claire started waking up, she could hear a beeping sound that was annoying, she could hear voices but couldn't make out who they were. She felt someone holding her hand, she gently squeezes their hand and heard a gasp.
Scott was telling his dad how he would homeschool Claire, when he felt his hand being squeezed.
Scott gasped and looks to Claire. "Claire….. can you hear me?"
Everyone held their breath while watching Claire, waiting for her to open her eyes and respond to Scott.
Claire opened her eyes blinking a few times, look up at Scott and whispers as her voice was hoarse. "Sc…..ott….y"
Scott smiles down at Claire. "Hey sis you had us all worried"
Everyone let out the breath that they were holding, Virgil left to get the nurse and cup of water with a straw for Claire. Once Virgil returned he helped Claire to drink her water but only little sips.
Looking at her brother, Claire smiles weakly. "Thank you Virgie"
The nurse and Dr Rynn walked in the room and everyone noticed the doctor wasn't happy.
Dr Rynn checked Claire over. "How do you feel?"
Looking at the doctor Claire replies. "Like a truck hit me and my head is pounding, like someone is beating a drum badly"
Dr Rynn looks to the nurse and asked her to get pain medication and ibuprofen, in the form of a injection. The nurse left to get the medication then returned with two syringes in a metal dish, she hand them to Dr Rynn who injected them straight into Claire's arm.
After the doctor disposed of the syringes she looks to Claire then to everyone else. "They should start working soon….. I have bad news, one of the nurses called the police officer and told him Claire is awake"
Standing up Jeff looks at the doctor. "Can we take Claire home please, I don't want her getting stressed by answering questions"
Dr Rynn nods. "Yes Claire can be discharged, do you have paracetamol and ibuprofen were you live?"
Nodding Virgil answers. "Yes we do as we have a full medical room"
Dr Rynn nods then left for a few minutes then returned with the discharge papers and jeff signs them. After Jeff, Scott and Virgil got Clair ready to leave, Virgil gently picked Claire up and carried her outside where Grandma, John, Gordon and Alan were waiting. Scott had Claires bags and put them in the boot of the car, and they were all waiting on Jeff.
After explaining to the police officer that his daughter wasn't well enough to answer questions, Jeff joined his family and drove them to the Tracy private hanger, where Tracy One was standing by and ready.
Once in the hanger Jeff went on board Tracy One and did his pre-flight checks, while Virgil carried Claire on board and put her down gently then put her belt on. Everyone else grabs the bags taking them on board, once on board they put them down then sat in the seats and put their belts on.
Even though he wanted to sit with his sister, Scott knew he was to co-pilot and that Claire was in the capable hands of Virgil.
Once everyone was strapped in Jeff drove the Tracy One out to the runway, once he was cleared for take off Jeff took off gently heading home to Tracy Island.
They were half way home when Virgil look to Claire and sees that she had fallen asleep, in her sleep she leaned her head against Virgil's shoulder. That made Virgil smile at how cute his sister was asleep.
After a hour Grandma Tracy made sure everyone had something to eat and drink, except for Claire as she was fast asleep and didn't have the heart to wake her granddaughter up, she knew that Claire needed her rest.
It was quite till Gordon and Alan started arguing with each other. Alan didn't want to play a prank on his little sister. "We are not playing a prank on Claire"
Gordon shouted back. "You're a spoilsport"
Alan kept his cool. "No I'm not…. But our sister has had brain surgery and she needs to rest"
With her two brothers arguing and her Grandma trying to keep then quite as well as to stop them arguing, Claire had woke up and put her hands on her head as she had a bad headache.
Noticing Virgil asked worriedly. "Claire are you ok?"
Looking up at her brother with tears glistening in her eyes. "It's painful…… my head feels like it's going to explode"
Virgil wrapped his arms around Claire. "I'm sorry sis, we will be able to give you more paracetamols when we land in 30 minutes"
Nodding gently Claire stayed quite in the safety and comfort of Virgil's arms. 30 minutes later they were back home on Tracy Island, Virgil carried Claire all the way up to the living room area and then put down gently on the sofa. After Virgil went and the paracetamols and a bottle of water then returned to the living room.
Virgil sits next to Claire and hand her the water then the paracetamol. "Here you go Claire this will help take the pain away"
After taking the paracetamol Claire thanked Virgil, then looked around and noticed that her father was sitting next to her.
Jeff smiles gently. "Welcome home princess, I'll make sure the terrible two keep the noise down"
Smiling tiredly she replies. "Thank you dad"
Jeff nodded then went to talk to his lawyer and to the school in his office.
Grandma Tracy made Claire something to eat while Scoot and Virgil talked about fighting their father to homeschool their sister, they wanted their sister safe and happy with them and where no one can hurt her again.
Claire wander what was going to happen when she recovers, she didn't want to go back to school as she was being bullied and she kept that to herself.
Claire thinks to herself. [ my brothers will be mad at me if I tell them how unhappy I am at school, as well as finding out about me being bulling ]
After eating she laid down with her head on Scott's lap and her feet on Virgil's lap, she drifted of to sleep and into land of dreams.
