Chapter Three

It had been a week since Claire was brought home and her brother Virgil was making sure that she took her medication, he checked her head to make sure the incision was healing nicely.

Right now her brothers were busy on a rescue mission helping people, Claire was sitting on the sofa with her sketch pad and pencil to draw while it was quite.

Jeff had come up to the living room from the kitchen, he noticed Claire drawing and thought to himself. [ Virgil will be happy to see his sister drawing and that he's not the only artist in the family ]

He continued walking to his office to paper work, but first he had to talk with the school about keeping his daughter at home. Claire's brothers already decided what lessons they were going to teach her.

The principal had said that it would be better for Claire to finish out her year, she only had two months left after returning in a few week.

Jeff was still in his office when Virgil and Gordon returned home. Lifting up Claire's feet then sitting down with her feet on his lap, Virgil noticed that his sister was drawing.

Reaching over Virgil asked. "Hey Claire what are you drawing?"

Looking up Claire handed her sketch pad to look at it, she had drawn a beautiful night scene of a wolf howling at the moon.

Claire sighs. "I like wolves and I want to paint it a canvas…. but I don't have one"

Look up and smiling Virgil says. " I have plenty of art supplies, you can use them.

She was shocked that her brother was allowing her to use his art supplies. "Thank you Virgil…… I don't know what paint to use"

Thinking to himself for minute Virgil decided to help Claire. "I can help you and teach you about art and to play the piano"

She crawled onto Virgil's lap and hugs him. "Thank you Virgie you're the best"

After Virgil took his sister down to his art studio and got what Claire would need, he thought that oil paints would be best to start with.

She listened to what Virgil said her and started to enjoy painting, Claire saw out of the corner of her eye that her brother was smiling while watching her paint.

A few hours later Claire was having a shower when she put the shampoo into her hair and while rubbing it in, she felt pain and a burning sensation where her hair was growing back. Claire screamed and didn't know what to do.

In the living room everyone heard Claire scream, Scott and Virgil ran to their sisters room while Gordon was grinning. Gordon had put hair dye in Claire's shampoo and couldn't wait to see what she looked like.

Once in Claire's room and in her bathroom, Scott got a towel and wrapped it around her while Virgil looked and cleaned the area gently.

Gasping at how red the area of Claire's head was, Virgil turns to Scott. "We better take Claire down to the medical room, I'll get her something to wear"

Nodding Scott picked Claire up and carried her down to the medical room and waited, while Virgil got a change of clothes for his sister.

Meanwhile Gordon and Alan were arguing as Gordon said that he put hair dye in Claire's shampoo.

Alan looked at his brother. "Gordon how could you do that, I told you not to prank Claire"

He looks at Alan. "Aww come on you know it's just a joke"

Alan went and told his dad what Gordon did, Jeff had called Gordon into his office and scolded him.

In the medical room Claire was now dried and dressed, she sat still looking at Scott while Virgil checked her head.

Claire was smiling as she felt Virgil's hand that were cold as he checked the red patch on her head.

Raising his eyebrow up in a curious way, Scott asked. "Claire are you ok?"

Still Smiling she looks at Scott. "Mmm yes Scotty I'm fine, Virgie's hands are cold and it's easing the burning sensation"

Chuckling Virgil says. "I guess that means you can't dye your hair"

She turns her head a little to look at Virgil. "I love the colour of my hair, I would never dye it"

Scott had a idea who was to blame. "I think this is one of Gordon's pranks"

Once Virgil treated Claire and wrote a report up, Scott, Claire and Virgil went upstairs to the living room and sat down talking.

Soon it was time for dinner, everyone sat down eating and chatted about different things.

Sighing Jeff turned to his daughter. "Claire I spoke to the principal, he said that you have to finish out your year….. it's only two months"

She couldn't help groaning as she didn't want to go back to school, she looks at her father. "I don't want to go back to school"

Jeff knew that claire was going to say that. "I know you don't, after the two months I'm taking you out of school"

Scott put his hand gently on her shoulder. "We will call you everyday and take it in turns to visit you over the weekend"

She didn't want to go back to school, but she nods in agreement. Once everyone finished eating, there was a rescue mission that was under water where Virgil flew Gordon out in TB2.

It was late at night when Virgil and Gordon got home, Virgil checked on Claire. Virgil watched his sister as she slept peacefully, he could watch her all night if he could. Once he was satisfied that Claire wouldn't wake up, he left quietly and went to his own room and climbed into bed falling asleep.

She sat up so fast that she felt light headed, Claire got out of bed and went to Scott's room only to find that he wasn't there.

Claire went to Virgil's room and walked over then shakes him gently. She couldn't go back to sleep with nightmare that she had.

Waking up and blinking a few times, Virgil saw claire standing there shaking like a leaf.

Looking at the clock then back to Claire. "It's 3:25AM, what's wrong Claire?"

She looks at Virgil. "I……. I had a….. nightmare and couldn't go back to sleep"

His expression softened and he lifted up the cover to allow Claire to climb in. she climbed in and cuddled up to Virgil and he put the cover over her.

After telling Virgil about her nightmare, she felt tired and fell back to sleep. Virgil knew he would need to tell Scott and their father.

Mumbling he says. "I'll tell them when I get up"

With that in mind he fell asleep with Claire fell safe in his arms.
