-ooo- Escape from Ren, 10 of 13 -ooo-
147 DS1 Memorial Park —- Ext. 147
The Galencia freighter passes between two arches and lands in the flat green field. Exotic plants dot the surroundings. This park is freely accessible to all who wish to honor the Imperial Family. Black trails bend and weave through and between the numerous tombs of the family. The fog and clouds overhead scatter direct sunlight, illuminating the area in an even haze.
The freighter opens as the stormtroopers begin securing the perimeter in two-man groups. After they clear it, the three women exit carrying large, beautiful wreaths, their Knights surrounding them. Ephrath and Rey walk close together. Aquila is in the back talking to one officer.
REY This place…
EPHRATH Its millions and millions of dead
REY It feels hard to breathe.
EPHRATH We're in the DS1 memorial park...this park dedicated to all our family. We're only hundreds, among these millions... it... debases me.
REY To be the center of all that death, Ephrath?
Rey stares Ephrath straight in her eyes. Ephrath had her guard down and returned to familiarity with Rey. Her surprised face cools into acceptance. She answers honestly.
EPHRATH Yes. Rey, if you ever want to lea––
AQUILA Ephie, would you mind dropping off Jeal's offering first? I want to take Rey to her mother alone.
As Aquila makes her way to the girls, the soldier she talked to leaves up the trail with four others. Ephrath looks at her sister with concerned eyes. Aquila hands her a second wreath.
EPHRATH Okay...
Ephrath reluctantly leaves with two Knights of Ren accompanying her. She looks back at Rey as she goes. Aquila's eyes track her, and once she is gone, Aquila's smile fades.
Rey turns to Aquila. Aquila wears a sad smile now.
AQUILA ...well, shall we, Rey?
.
148 Imperial Graveyard Harbor —- Ext. 148
The smaller cargo ship lands on the shore of gray sand where others rest. In the background, we can see long harbors supporting scrappy shacks hanging orange lanterns: bars, restaurants, churches, and lantern sellers. Boats attached to the ports make up a small, improvised town.
Our group gets out wearing teal robes covering armor and scramblers. The last two out are Finn and Poe. They all take in the site.
POE Wow...
FINN I've... never been here. Never needed to...
POE ...anyone you want to visit?
FINN ...only Rey.
POE Let's not keep her waiting.
Poe rests his hand on Finn's shoulder as Aeneas walks up to the two.
AENEAS Sirs, we have–– ah, is it alright for him to have that?
Aeneas points to the rifle Poe exposed upon lifting his arm. Poe holds the gun, showing Aeneas he isn't hiding it. He even smirks.
POE It has a stun.
Aeneas scowls.
FINN Poe won't do anything, Aeneas. He's only worrying for the worst. What did you need to tell us?
Aeneas gaze returns to Finn; hope fills it.
AENEAS Ah! Yes. We have the ferries. We will follow your lead.
POE Can you detect her?
Finn extends his hand with the earring. Finn focuses.
FINN Only a faint ping... but she's here.
POE So, we'll need the ferries then?
FINN Yes. I'm not as good as Kylo with thread tracking. I'll need to be outside the ship.
Poe nods and turns to the ship pilot.
POE That's how it is then. Keep everything primed. We'll leave our channel on. Hear "sigma tau" fly over to our location slowly. Hear "iota nu" be ready for a hot zone evacuation.
The pilot nods with an affirmative gesture. Aeneas has directed the other troops to bring in the three ferries — rickety three-man hover platforms with orange lanterns hanging off the rails.
AENEAS We got smaller ferries. In case we need to scatter or make a distraction.
POE Good thinking, Aeneas.
Poe steps onto a ferry. Kicks it to test stability, fiddles with the control panel.
POE (cont.) It'll work. Finn, you ready?
Finn is lost gazing onto the graveyard's expanse. He pulls his mind back and boards the ferry with Poe,
FINN Let's not waste time. Men, our mission begins now.
They all silently bow and get on their ferries. They enter the Imperial Graveyard.
.
149 The Imperial Graveyard — Ext. 149
The troop speeds along at a steady pace, with Finn and Poe's ferry leading. A scant cleaning droid scrubs a surface then scurries off. Poe looks around the graveyard for more curiosities. He notices the edifices are segmented. Each segment has a serial number, circular opening (sometimes filled with a candle or flower), and a projector.
He squints at one single black obelisk, projecting two holograms from separate segments. The realization these endless single black graves are stacks of five to ten haunts him.
Finn dangles the earring out, trying his best.
FINN Looks like she's in the DS1 Memorial Park. I warned her against that. It's too open.
POE So that is what those are.
FINN The Death Star Monuments? Yeah. That's what those are.
POE ...almost three million, right?
FINN DS1 had 1,186,583 lost, and DS2 had 2,471,647. Dead in an instant.
POE Less than Alderaan... but we don't have any monument like this.
FINN Heh, the Imperial Family loves flashy shows... Every honorable soldier gets a one-square meter headstone. They wrapped and stacked them all up to make those arches.
POE Wow...
FINN Problem is when you have a name higher up. Every standard year a mother falls off her craft trying to honor her son.
POE ...that's sickening.
FINN That is the Empire.
They pass a slumped group, baring orange lanterns, stacking a new topmost layer to the piled grave. Orange glows of similar groups are sown across the surroundings.
FINN I.. could have buried my parents here. Give them shared a grave for mine and my father's service. If I stayed and redeemed our name. I turned my back on them.
POE ...where were they buried instead?
FINN Nowhere.
POE What?
FINN This is the only graveyard on the planet. The ones before were flattened for needed industry. The Imperial Family needs factories, not sacred waste.
POE Oh.
FINN People keep shrines in their homes. But my sister sold our home and everything in it for my education —so that I may fix their mistakes. When she died, whatever she had left went to me. As the state owned me, it went to them. It's probable they still have their ashes.
POE I'm sorry.
Finn looks at white painted letters streaking off a grave from the mist. His eyes ripening red.
FINN Poe... do you notice the names on the graves?
POE Yeah, mostly numbers. Barely any names.
FINN Names are for officers. Everyone else gets a serial number. No identity. No choice. No life that matters. Even when the families paint their names... the mist washes them out. That's why they chose this place.
A cleaning droid scrubs the name entirely off.
FINN (cont.) Haha... the droids even register our names as vandalism! That is the best we get.. This honor is what we kill for. What we live for. This is it. This is what I wanted more than anything ...and it's terrible, Poe.
This epiphany brings out the emotions held off, now barely controlled by the sudden, rapid release. Poe stays quiet and in concern.
FINN Why is it like this?! Why did my parents, my sister, throw their lives away for this!? They own us even to our deaths, and we kill for the honor of having nameless graves! I hate them. Why... why this life.
POE ...l don't know.
FINN I want off this island, Poe. I never want to see this planet again. We get Rey and never come back.
POE Sure, Finn. One more mission, right?
FINN Haha, right.
Poe notices something while approaching the DS1 Memorial Park. He takes out his binoculars to get a better picture.
POE Rey's got company... Imps blocking entrance and surveying trails.
FINN We'll get to vantage point close enough to see Rey. Work a plan around the guards after.
POE I like it! Which direction next?
Finn takes out the earring.
FINN Up there!
Poe shifts his ferry, and the others follow their lead. Poe has one last thing to say:
POE ...I'm glad you're not a gravestone here, Finn.
FINN I'm glad I'll never be.
.
150 Sky Over the Imperial Graveyard – Ext. 150
A (original Trilogy) TIE fighter bursts through the clouds, lingering in the sky above the island. It positions itself to get a clear view of the DS1 Memorial Monument. Inside we see Kylo Ren searching the view pad until he finds Rey and Aquila. He tracks them as they move, his face dark and tense.
.
151 DS1 Memorial Park – Ext. 151
Aquila and Rey stroll down a trail near the very edge of the park. Three Knights of Ren accompany them. Aquila isn't smiling. Her head down caught in thought. Rey's eyes dart around for any sign of Finn, remaining mindful of the imposing woman next to her. She senses no danger from her. And yet...
AQUILA ...have you enjoyed your time here?
Rey doesn't like the vague fatalism of the statement.
REY Mostly.
AQUILA Heh, 'mostly.' Did Ephie's pestering finally get to you?
REY No, or... not quite.
AQUILA Then she told you about herself… and me.
Rey grows more worried. Aquila looks at Rey closely and determines she is correct.
AQUILA (cont.) It's fine. I'm glad she did. If she told you against my wishes, then Ephie loves you enough to defy me. She sees you as family. That makes me happy, Rey.
The women arrive at the tomb. This section of the park is somewhat dense in a collection of graves from House Galencia. Many are ten meters tall, but the one they arrive at is a small fountain. A name plaque is below, with a quote in their language.
REY That's her...
AQUILA In spirit. We couldn't recover a body.
Rey sets her wreath on the monument.
REY You honor me by giving me life, Silva Galencia.
AQUILA I wish we could have raised a larger grave. The Houses wouldn't vote for anything larger to an exiled lady.
REY Why does she even have one...?
The best answer needs a background:
AQUILA You know your mother attempted a coup.
REY Allegedly...
AQUILA No Rey... Silva Galencia was beautiful and a medical genius, the mother of the Knights of Ren, but something no one here will tell you: she was malicious, devious...
REY Then why not execute her?
AQUILA ...and seductive... I was old enough to remember how she and Zaltan looked at each other.
Horror strikes Rey's eyes at the suggestion.
AQUILA (cont.) Then, shortly after her exile, she announces a child with a massive midichlorian count.
REY No!
AQUILA Haha! I don't think so either. As deliciously ironic as it would be... the timelines don't match. Far too long. You're not his child.
REY Well... that's a relief. Haha
AQUILA Heh, I should say so! Haha
LOYAL SOLDIER Monopoless Aquila, we found them where you said.
Another four soldiers escort two non-humanoids: insectiods with black eyes and veiny blue skin.
AQUILA Thank you, you may leave us.
LOYAL SOLDIER May the Empire never fall!
The soldiers leave.
Ck'Lill *clicks and rattles
AQUILA Yes. This is the one.
Rey is a mix of puzzlement and panic.
REY Aquila... what do you want from me?
Aquila turns around with large, sad eyes.
AQUILA Rey, these are my Xa'Xa'Vill life-slaves. My personal pilots. Their loyalty is absolute. I give them to you. There is a ship on shore with a hyperdrive class of 0.9. Again, it's for you.
Rey is confused and panicked.
REY What?
AQUILA There are ten million credits on the ship. Enough to live anywhere else outside Imperial Space.
REY You want me to leave...
Aquila breathes in.
AQUILA Rey... hearing you were alive was the the only happy day I have had in a long time. I love you.
Rey waits, still breathing fast.
AQUILA (cont.) And want you to be happy like that forever. But that will never happen within an Imperial House. Even after Kylo or I take the throne.
REY You sent Kylo away...
AQUILA In a way. I made it so the Fashnas thought it was their idea.
REY Why?
AQUILA I love Kylo as a brother... but I know him. He's using you. His obsession demands revenge. Rushing to kill a retiring man for his own ascension. A position I can take bloodlessly.
REY No no no
AQUILA I know Zaltan deserves it. But we can't run an engine of hate into an era of peace. Your presence here stirs a recklessness in him. I can feel it. He will get you both killed... or you will make killers of those after you.
REY Aquila, I...
AQUILA I want you to live, Rey. Even if I die in my pursuits, it will honor my tomb for you —for one of us— to be still alive... somewhere... happy.
REY Aquila, you don't understand…
Aquila grabs Rey's hands.
AQUILA Rey, I have given you the best life I could here, but it's only going to get worse now! It's still early enough. No one will find you! Please, Rey! Please!
So many thoughts and emotions. Tell her the plan? No, she would have to kill you. What about Finn? What will he do? He is on this planet somewhere. Or not? Where is he? Rey looks around for any sign of Finn again. She sees a shadow fly unnaturally near them.
.
152 Imperial Graveyard — Ext. 152
Finn, Poe, and the soldiers are mounted low, spying on Rey and Aquila with binoculars between gaps in graves.
POE Something's wrong... but she's not in danger?
Poe takes the binoculars down to see the wider area. He sees the shadow fly near the princesses. Poe grabs his gun.
POE Rey!
.
153 DS1 Memorial Park – Ext. 153
Rey grabs Aquila on instinct.
REY Aquila, run!
Rey drags Aquila a few steps. The three Knights of Ren turn their heads back as the high-power rifle shot sails between them. Rey never sees it. The impact consumes the girls. Rey's automatic shield protects her from the blast, the shockwave still throws her back.
.
154 TIE Fighter cockpit – Int. 154
We only see Kylo''s face with the screen omitted. The sudden red flash covers him. Kylo's face breaks in devastating pain.
KYLO NO!
.
155 DS1 Memorial Park – Ext. 155
Rey has soot all over her. She opens her eyes to see her hands empty. She only has to look in front of her to find Aquila. The shot on an unarmored body left only one identifying feature: a Galencia ring on the finger. Attached to the ring, laying in a smoking crater, an incinerated skeleton, the blackened skull staring through Rey.
All hell breaks loose. Every shadowy assassin emerges. Flying harbingers bringing annihilation to the Galencia family. The horrified Rey is unaware of the assassin landing just above her. Poe shoots it dead —they still get a shot off— just missing her.
Rey snaps back to the world around her and runs.
.
156 Imperial Graveyard – Ext. 156
Poe's gun is still glowing from his kill shot. Other assassins notice Poe. Now implicated with the Galencia family, they target him and his group. In the background, stormtroopers and Knights of Ren Fight helplessly against the shadows within the DS1 Memorial Park.
POE It's happening now.
FINN We have to get her out of there!
AENEAS We got our own problems!
Aeneas points out the many blurred shadows skipping between graves. Poe grips his communicator.
POE Iota nu! Iota nu! Iota nu!
FINN Men! Get ready for a fight!
Finn unfurls his jetpack, ignites his white lightsaber, and readies his scrambler. The men get their scramblers and rush to cover as the first rifle shot hits near Aeneas —the shadow who fired already gone. Murderous blurs shifting around them.
.
157 DS1 Memorial Park —- Ext. 157
Rey can't predict the attacks. A Knight of Ren protects her. He takes her behind a tomb. A shadow dives on the side, shooting off the Knight's head. Rey loses another companion.
Rey hears Ephrath's scream.
REY Ephrath!
New motivation charges Rey as she rushes to her cousin. A shadow jumps out, narrowly missing. Rey returns fire with a bolt clipping the jetpack, exploding it. The burning corpse landing limp.
Rey follows Ephrath's screams as they get louder.
A shadow lands on top of a tomb, seeing the exposed girl, readies himself, aims carefully, easy shot. Rey brings her arms to guard herself, deflecting the shot far better but still crashing her into a tomb behind her. The shadow tries to reload the single-shot rifle as a Knight fills him with darts. A second shadow lands behind the Knight, and Rey burns a hole through their chest. Her first kill with a focused beam.
Rey marches forward, keeping closer to the tombs now, killing yet another shadow on the way. She sees Ephrath cowering inside the freighter with now burning engines. Stormtroopers pile up by the opening, and her remaining Knight is stuck down as Rey arrives. Rey rips the shadow from the fogged air into the hard ground.
REY Ephie! Back up!
Rey recklessly dashes through the battlefield, her loyal Knight getting caught in the shots, falling dead.
Rey enters the freighter as Ephie curls against the wall. Rey covers her cousin. Focused beams extend from her finger, lighting tendrils grabbing targets from the side, her opening attack killing three more shadows.
.
158 TIE Fighter cockpit – Int. 158
Kylo's face set in rage, one tear running down his face. He has been watching Rey, seeing her controlling the situation, he stops himself from approaching the park. Instead, he calms down some and starts focusing.
He can feel strings pulling from the park...
Two ships hovering in the sky. His anger returns, grabs his helmet, and begins his pursuit. The wrathful TIE fighter shreds the larger ship first, leaving only burning wreckage. The second begins fleeing away as Kylo gives chase.
.
159 Imperial Graveyard — Ext. 159
The Red Republic soldiers stow themselves between the narrow graves. The shadows keep their distance, only able to hit the graves for now.
In one gap are two soldiers, one being Aeneas. A shadow lands on the grave next to them, his line of sight perpendicular to the men. The second soldier fires his scrambler at the same time as the assassin fires his rifle. The soldier dies horribly, the rifle round ripping through his armor, burning a hole through his chest. His scrambler shot was easily dodged. Aeneas fires his scrambler in vengeance, but for nothing, as the shadow already vanished.
The same problem traps the rest of the group. Their scramblers' range is too short and slow. The jetpacks and high-powered rifles are picking them apart. They only last behind the cover of the tight graves.
Finn sees another Red Republic soldier die before his eyes. Finn deflects a high-power shot. He fires his scrambler, but the shadow has already jumped behind cover. Finn has lost control of the situation, fear replacing all confidence. He hears Poe fire off his rifle.
Poe is chasing an assassin off the corpse of another killed soldier. He only shoots off the shadow's foot. But Poe stepped out of cover to land this shot. Now in the open, two new shadows appear behind him. Finn's eyes widen.
FINN POE!
Finn's jetpack flares, throwing his body violently above his friend. Finn moves too fast to think. On pure instinct and guidance by the Force, he deflects both incoming shots to Poe. One shot hits below an assailant's feet, who flies off. The other hits the shadow's neck. Finn's thrusters reverse and stop his momentum behind Poe. The shadow, with a torched throat, falls into the sand.
Finn realizes what he has done.
The soldiers he brought scream out, this attack relentless. Finn looks to see Aeneas scowling at him, cradling a dead friend, protected only by a useless gun. Finn understands.
A new shadow appears. Finn dodges his shot, flying right up to him and slicing the midair assassin. Airborne, Finn makes himself a target; shadows chase him.
Finn dives down. A shadow stays above. Finn instantly changes direction, threading between two graves, This maneuver intercepts a second shadow attempting a flank attack. Finn chops their head off, spins, dodges the above shadow's shot. The aerial assassin flees to reload —too slow. Finn stabs into his chest.
Yet another fires a shot from behind Finn. Finn rips the lightsaber out of his last victim to deflect it, sending the shot back through the third shadow's head.
As more come out, aerial support comes in. The faux cargo ship has arrived, firing on the assassins. It keeps low to the ground, opening the back entrance. Finn protects the exposed opening as Poe drags an injured soldier inside. Aeneas carries a dead soldier, locking eyes with Finn as they enter. The Jedi stays, deflecting shots, still waiting for others.
AENEAS Finn... we're it.
Finn looks back into Aeneas' mourning eyes. Finn gives up. He deflects a final shot and enters the ship. They fly off leaving the island.
.
160 Ocean Near the Imperial Graveyard – Ext. 160
The TIE fighter continues its chase. The ships fly over open water through thick fog. The island only recognizable by the low orange glow of the harbors, saturating the scenery.
Kylo clips the engines of his prey. The front ship crashes into the water. Kylo lands next to it. He opens his cockpit, ignites his lightsaber, and steps onto the fallen ship. The copilot's cockpit opens.
Six spinning laser daggers fling to Kylo. Kylo lifts his hand, freezing all in place. A Knight of Ren leaves the cockpit with two daggers still in hand. Kylo parries, chopping the Knights hands off in a single move. Kylo advances, pushing the crippled Knight behind him. Kylo releases the daggers, mincing the man. The chunks of flesh chum the ocean.
Kylo rips the pilot's cockpit open. Out of the darkness, the pilot fires a sudden blaster shot. Kylo hits the shot back with his lightsaber. The pilot screams, dropping his melting blaster from his scorched hand. Kylo knows the voice; he steps in closer and Force-pulls the man's helmet off.
KYLO ...Jeremiah Hux
JEREMIAH HUX Ah... hehe... Hello Kylo. I was wondering where you were.
There is a pause between the men. Kylo's mind racing to find where he slipped. Jeremiah takes pleasure in Kylo's confusion.
KYLO How.
JEREMIAH HUX Haha! You thought you were clever, Kylo. Framing Jacob. Warming to Zaltan. Taking a 'fiancé'.. honestly, in House Hux, you were a scoundrel, snake, deceiver... but not even we would name you traitor.
Kylo is stunned by the quoted fiancé. Kylo has nothing to say next.
JEREMIAH HUX No denial. That is wise. We know the girl is a Republic spy. And you would have sent her back with information fatal to the Empire. You never truly left Luke, did you? So clever, Kylo. But our terrorist cell picked up the Republic's retrieval team. Happily, those idiots failed to plant their own assassins. So, we got to send our private Force to eradicate your family.
He laughs.
Kylo lifts his hand, Jeremiah's laughs turn to screams, then back to laughs once Kylo puts his arm back down.
JEREMIAH HUX Haha, you brought this on yourself. You were in our house. You were family.
KYLO Never.
JEREMIAH HUX HE WAS YOUR FRIEND! And you BETRAYED him! He fought for you, lost for you, and you fed him to the Emperor. And Jacob will be avenged. Or the rest of your House shall burn.
KYLO What do you mean?
JEREMIAH HUX We can implicate your entire House with the spy. Zaltan will exterminate all of them, and dissolve the monopoly. But Kylo! If you surrender... lay your head under the Emperor's blade… your House will remain. Without you or Aquila, it's crippled-clawless anyways.
The cost of Rey's betrayal. Kylo's innards wrench from it. His body rejecting the choice he must make, Kylo turns his back, entering his ship.
JERIMIAH HUX Kylo, if you bring me back, I will conside—
Without looking, Kylo punches downward, and the cockpit crunches with the man inside. The wreckage sinking under the ocean.
Kylo reenters his TIE fighter and flies back to the island.
.
161 DS1 Memorial Park — Ext. 161
Rey and Ephrath are still in the freighter. Prominent glowing craters mark the surface of the machine. Hux assassins and Galencia troops all lay dead surrounding the women. A lone assassin swoops in —Rey's beam drills through his high-powered rifle shot and bisects the man.
There is quiet. Rey focuses... searching.
REY ...l think that was the last one.
Ephrath remains sunken into the wall. Sobbing.
EPHRATH (breaking) Re-Rey.. Is Aquila.. ?
Rey bends down, consoling her cousin. Rey's soft arms taking the woman deep to her chest.
REY I'm so sorry, Ephie. I'm so sorry. She's gone. I'm sorry.
Ephrath buries her head into Rey's shoulder. Ephie's world destroyed by her careless allowance weaned through obedience.
As Ephrath cries, Rey notices another shadow. She braces for a fight, but it's only the remaining Xa'Xa'Vill life-slave. Her tension eases —but not ceases— seeing the man. Ever dedicated to their told purpose, it gestures to Rey. A final ticket off, fluttering before her.
Rey makes her decision. She mouths, "leave me." The life-slave stops, then leaves, freed. Rey turns her head back to her weeping, wheezing cousin.
Kylo's ship lands in front of the girls. They both look to his ship. His cockpit opens, his face cold, reserved.
Seeing Kylo solidifies Ephrath. She buries her grief and gets up to inform her seasoned cousin of their stark circumstances.
EPHRATH Jon... Aquila is dead.
Kylo stays silent, looking down, keeping himself in check.
EPHRATH These were Vatalav Assassins. The dead Vetalav Assassins. The House who faked their deaths is behind this. I can find that, and we will burn them to the ground tonight!
Kylo pauses before making a pained response. He begins to approach the unsuspecting Rey, hand close to his lightsaber.
KYLO I know who sent them.
EPHRATH You work fast. We can plan after we leave. When I fled to our ship, they shot the engines. We need a new way off.
This stops Kylo. His reckoning will need to be delayed.
KYLO Mine only seats one. Rey will work engines. I will fly.
Ephrath stares at Kylo, looking for some break in his character, finding none. His resolve stirs hers.
EPHRATH Then we fly. Rey. You've done much, but we aren't out yet. Can you do this too?
REY Yes.
EPHRATH Then let's begin. Our losses will be avenged in fire.
Ephrath goes to the cockpit to see if there are any ships incoming, leaving Kylo to speak with Rey about the Force subjects. Rey approaches Kylo. She senses loss and rage within him but misplaces the origins.
REY Jon... it's my fault. Aquila was right in front of me, and I couldn't save her. I am so sorry.
Kylo hugs Rey, she accepts him. Kylo keeps his eyes closed. Suppressing searing hatred for now. Needing to play this right.
KYLO It's okay Rey. It was my fault, too. I should have sensed his plot.
REY Who—
KYLO It was the Emperor, Rey.
Rey's eyes go wide. She backs up to look into his.
REY How?
KYLO I arrived at a trap, too. He found us out Rey. He knows about you. This attack was because of us.
REY No.
KYLO We are out of time Rey. He spent his entire life ensuring a Sith Emperor never returns to the throne. He will burn our entire house to find you. I will turn myself in. They will torture me for answers. This delays them. YOU must hide in Ren. Wait till you sense the Emperor... You are our last hope.
REY Jon. I'm not ready.
KYLO You already know you are. We have faith in you. I need you, Rey.
Rey returns into his arms. Closing her eyes and resting on his shoulders.
REY When the Emperor arrives... I will kill him.
The shot stays on Kylo. With Rey's eyes closed and her head next to his, Kylo shows his true face. Dark malice within a raw stare stabbing murderous daggers into the creature next to him. He grabs his lightsaber. Holds it right behind her head.
No. Not yet. She has a purpose. And afterward? He prays there is still something left to kill after the Emperor's Four Cardinal Knights tear her apart.
