A year had passed since their engagement party, and Veronica Lodge and Archie Andrews were in the midst of planning their wedding. The decision to have the ceremony in Paris was a dream come true for both of them. They envisioned a unique celebration that blended their love for each other with the charm and romance of the City of Light. They'd chosen an unconventional mix of Parisian elegance and down-home BBQ for the food, reflecting their diverse tastes and backgrounds. The guest list included their closest friends: Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Cheryl Blossom, Toni Topaz, Kevin Keller, and even Evelyn Evernever (provided she behaved herself). From Paris, Emily Cooper, Mindy Chen, Gabriel, and Camille would also be there.
With everything planned out and paid for, the couple decided it was time to have an executive meeting with Hermione and Hiram Lodge to discuss their plans and get their input.
Veronica and Archie sat in the Lodge living room, awaiting her parents' arrival. The tension was palpable; they knew this conversation wouldn't be easy.
Hermione and Hiram entered, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Alright, you two," Hermione began, sitting down across from them. "Tell us about these wedding plans you've been working on."
Veronica took a deep breath, her hand clasped tightly in Archie's. "Well, we've decided to have the wedding in Paris. We've booked a beautiful venue overlooking the Seine. The food will be BBQ, to reflect Archie's roots, and we've invited all our friends. Everything is already paid for."
Hermione's brow furrowed in confusion. "Paris? BBQ? This all seems so... unconventional. What happened to having a traditional wedding here in Riverdale? And who is handling all this planning?"
Archie jumped in, trying to ease the tension. "We wanted something unique that represents both of us. As for the planning, we initially hired Madina Haggley, but Veronica decided to take over."
Hermione's eyes widened in shock. "You fired the wedding planner? Veronica, why would you do that?"
Veronica's tone was calm but firm. "Madina wasn't working out. She didn't understand our vision, and she kept pushing for a very traditional, very Catholic wedding, which isn't what we want."
Hiram, who had been silent until now, spoke up, his voice filled with controlled anger. "A traditional Catholic wedding is exactly what we want. I've already invited my business associates and colleagues. This... this Paris plan doesn't fit into that."
Veronica's eyes flashed with frustration. "Dad, I've already paid for everything. We're not getting married in a church. This is our wedding, not a business deal."
Hermione's anger flared. "You don't understand the importance of tradition! This wedding should honor our family's values."
Veronica stood up abruptly, her face flushed with anger. "WTF, Mom? You don't get it! This is our wedding, our day. We're doing it our way."
With that, she stormed out of the room, leaving a stunned silence in her wake. Archie turned to face Hermione and Hiram, his expression a mix of disappointment and determination.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, but this wedding is about us, not you. We've made our decision, and we're not changing it."
Hermione shook her head, her anger giving way to frustration. "You two are making a big mistake."
Archie stood up, his eyes meeting Hermione's. "Maybe. But it's our mistake to make. We hope you'll still come and support us, but we won't compromise on what we want for our wedding."
As he left the room to find Veronica, Hermione and Hiram exchanged a look of disbelief and resignation. The wedding plans were set, and nothing was going to change their minds.
Archie found Veronica outside, pacing and fuming. He took her hand, pulling her into a comforting embrace.
"It's okay, Ronnie. We're doing this our way. They'll come around."
Veronica nodded, though her eyes were still filled with anger and hurt. "I know. I just wish they could be happy for us."
"They will be," Archie said softly. "Eventually."
Together, they walked back into the house, ready to face whatever challenges came their way. Their love was strong, and their commitment to each other was unshakeable. Paris awaited, and with it, the beginning of the rest of their lives.
