Chapter 7: Phantom and Myst
After Danny Phantom and Myst weakened the ghost wolves enough, Danny sucked them into a Fenton Thermos. Myst would have tried to use a Boo Cap but, since the ghosts didn't revert to 'basic' mode, wasn't sure it'd work. "Good job, Phantom." Myst said.
"Thanks for your help, Myst." Danny replied.
"You're welcome. Bye." Myst said and flew away. Reporters then approached Danny. "Danny Phantom, are you and Myst dating?" One of the reporters asked.
"Ghost Force and I are helping each other." Danny answered and then noticed more reporters raising their hands. "Sorry but I gotta go."
The next day, a possibility of a romance between Danny Phantom and Myst was what practically everyone at Casper High was talking about. "It's a lie!" Paulina shouted.
"Danny Phantom didn't deny a romance when that reporter asked about it." Mikey pointed out.
"My ghost boy would never do it to me." Paulina declared.
"You and Phantom never had any sort of commitment, Paulina." Dash pointed out. "Give it up on him and give me another chance."
"Not after what happened at our last date." Paulina huffed.
"It wasn't my fault." Dash protested.
"Was it Fenton's?" Paulina sarcastically asked.
"It will be as soon as I find an excuse to blame him." Dash answered.
Meanwhile, Nathan was discussing Danny and Myst with one of his friends. "So, do we call it 'Danyst' or 'Mystanny'?" Nathan asked.
The Box Ghost phased his way inside. "Beware, I am the Box Ghost, master of all things cardboard and square."
"So, 'Danyst' or 'Mystanny'?" Nathan repeated his question without caring about the ghost's presence.
"Hey, didn't you hear me?" The Box Ghost asked in protest. "Beware."
"Dude, everybody here knows that, without Pandora's box, you're all bark and no bite." Dash Baxter arrogantly told the Box Ghost. "Go away."
"Beware." The Box Ghost replied and left.
"I'm starting to feel sorry for the Box Ghost." Tucker said. "Even Dash isn't afraid of him anymore."
"Let's hope he's the only ghost we see today." Danny commented and then felt his ghost sense. "Any chances the Box Ghost came for a second round?"
"I'll hang your pelt on my wall, whelp." Skulker said.
"Of course." Danny muttered as everyone not in Team Phantom ran away. "I'm goin' ghost."
Skulker shot missiles which Danny intercepted with his ghost beams until Tucker hacked into Skulker's armor and made the ghost go to the zoo for a purpleback gorilla research. "He's still vulnerable to that?" Sam asked in shock.
"Yeah, I don't know if that's exciting or depressing." Tucker replied.
Dash then showed up. "The noise stopped so I decided to check." The bully said. "Is it safe again?"
"I think so, civilian." Danny answered.
"In that case, are you really dating Myst or is she available?" Dash asked with a smile.
"No comments." Danny muttered and left.
For the rest of the day, people talked even more about Danny Phantom and Myst. "Danny Phantom basically confirmed that he's dating Myst!" Dash said.
"Liar!" Paulina protested. "My ghost boy never confirmed anything regarding Myst!"
" 'No comments' is basically confirming it, Paulina." Dash argued.
"My ghost boy would never cheat on me like that." Paulina whined.
"Of course not since you and Phantom never dated in the first place." Dash pointed out.
"That was harsh." Kwan commented.
"She needed to hear it, Kwan." Dash replied. Unbeknownst to the A-Listers, Sam nodded at that comment.
"You?" Tucker asked. "Agreeing with Dash?"
"The shallow girl needed to hear that and it had more impact coming from him than it'd have coming from me." Sam explained.
"True." Danny agreed. "My only issue is that it gives Liv and me another reason to protect our respective secrets."
"Just dump her." Sam bluntly suggested.
"Things like that just add fuel to the jokes about us being a couple, Sam." Danny replied, surprising his friends with how clueless he was.
"Maybe they're not just jokes, Danny." Tucker commented.
"See what I meant?" Danny asked Sam.
"You're so clueless." Sam told Danny and then glared at Tucker.
Later on, at New York, Misty, Andy, and Mike were discussing the latest developments. "So, people are already figuring out Myst is dating Danny Phantom?" Andy mocked his sister.
"This is serious, Andy." Liv scolded her brother. "Now I have another reason to protect my identity and Danny has another one to protect his."
"She's right, Andy." Mike agreed with Liv. "But there's nothing we can do about it right now so let's just study as initially planned, okay?"
"Whatever." Andy muttered.
Back in Amity Park, Danny and his friends were studying. "Danny, shouldn't you be patrolling?" Sam asked. "What'll do if a ghost attacks while you're studying?"
"That's the reason we have this." Tucker proudly said as he presented his PDA. "I've set it to warn me whenever something related to ghosts is reported."
"Sam, I must keep up with my studies." Danny pointed out.
"Or your parents will cut off your time with Liv." Sam replied.
"Or Mr. Lancer will make me study to retake another test I fail because ghost hunting keeps me from studying." Danny pointed out and Sam stopped arguing.
Jack Fenton then showed up. "Kids, I've just finished another invention to stop ghosts!" He eagerly said. "It..." An explosion is heard. "Uh, never mind."
"Is there a problem that it didn't surprise me?" Danny asked his friends, who nodded.
"Danny, do you think Liv is jealous of a possible relationship between you and Myst?" Tucker asked his friend.
"Shut up, Tucker." Danny said.
"If so, you could introduce Myst to me so I can date her and appease Liv." Tucker ironically suggested.
Danny had to be careful with his response so he wouldn't clue his friends to Liv's secret without her permission. "Myst and I don't have time to discuss romance when we're fighting ghosts, Tucker." The halfa said.
"Yeah." Sam agreed. "And Danny would have to let Myst know his secret identity before he could introduce her to anyone from his civilian life."
"Well, she could need a good-looking tech expert." Tucker commented and Danny and Sam glared at him. "Fine, Ghost Force could need a good-looking tech expert."
Danny then felt his ghost sense. "Beware, I am the Box Ghost."
"And I am someone who needs a stress reliever." Danny replied and started chasing the box-obsessed ghost.
"Five minutes?" Tucker asked after Danny returned. "You had more stress to relieve than usual."
"No comments." Danny replied.
"But please tell Myst about me the next time you meet her." Tucker asked and Danny frowned.
The next time took place way sooner than Tucker expected as Danny eventually went to New York for another date with Liv. "Liv, before I say anything else, I must remind you that my friends don't know your secret." Danny stated.
"Okay, Danny." Liv replied, wondering where Danny was going to.
"Tucker, under the excuse of believing you could be jealous of Myst and me, asked me to tell Myst about him." Danny said.
Andy, who was in the other room drinking juice, did a spit take. "Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!" He laughed. "Liv, now I know you could do worse than what Danny initially seemed to be!"
"Danny, consider Myst warned." Liv replied, ignoring her brother's remark.
"What's next?" Andy asked. "Is your goth friend looking for a date with Fury?"
"No, she prefers Krush." Danny joked back and Andy frowned.
"For as long as she and my sister don't compete for your love." Andy commented.
"Alright, joke time is over." Danny declared. The worst part, in Danny's opinion, is that he still considered Andy nicer than most jocks he knew. "So, where will we..." Danny's question to Liv was interrupted by hers and Andy's Ectocaps.
"Sorry, Danny." Liv said. "Duty calls."
"I'm going with you." Danny said.
When they arrived at Ms. Jones' lab, Mike was already waiting for them. "Be careful, Mike." Andy said. "Danny says his goth friend has a crush on Krush."
"I was joking!" Danny frowned.
Ms. Jones then gave a basic description of the ghost she called Ghost Force to deal with. With Danny's help, they defeated the ghost before it reached booster mode. Back at Ms. Jones' lab, she approached Danny. "Danny, if you don't mind, I'd like to examine your freezing power to figure out which kind of viscosity a ghost must have so your power will freeze them instead of giving them an ice-based booster mode."
As much as Danny hated the idea of accidentally making his enemies more powerful, he was reluctant to trust Ms. Jones to examine him so he looked at Myst for approval, which she gave by nodding. "Liv, Andy, how about we go to my home to study while we wait for Danny?" Mike suggested.
"At Michael Collins' home?" Andy happily asked. "Awesome!"
"If you want to see me after you're done here, look for the penthouse with Michael Collins' statue." Liv said.
"But call me first so I can clear things with my Dad and Collins Tower's security detail." Mike added.
"Sure thing." Danny replied to both Liv and Mike.
After Andy, Liv and Mike left, Ms. Jones started examining Danny. "So, Danny, have you ever thought about letting your parents know about your powers?" She asked.
"No." Danny quickly answered. "I'm afraid of what they'd do if they find out."
"I see." Ms. Jones commented. "Anyway, I have some ectoplasm samples I want you to use your ice powers on."
"Okay." Danny replied and froze the samples. "What do I do next?" He asked while Ms. Jones examined the frozen samples. "A spar with Glowboo?"
"No, Danny." Ms. Jones answered. "He's still recharging his batteries."
"Is Glups a viscous ghost?" Danny asked as he saw the red tiny ghost floating nearby.
"Yes, but don't get any ideas." Ms. Jones answered. "He might be a tame ghost but that doesn't make it safe to give him a booster mode."
"Okay." Danny replied.
After a few additional exams, Ms. Jones released Danny and he called Liv to inform her. "Danny, I'm still at Mike's home. Are you coming?" Liv asked.
"Yes, Liv." Danny answered.
"Then I'll tell Mike." Liv said.
Minutes later, Danny flew through New York while invisible trying to find Collins Tower. "What's with that statue?" Danny asked upon spotting the tower. "Michael Collins has as much ego as Dash probably will have if he becomes rich and famous."
"Understanding it'd be too suspicious if Danny Phantom visited the place or if Danny Fenton somehow got inside with without going through security, he went to the building's front door. "All clear, Mr. Fenton." The receptionist politely said. "You're being expected at the penthouse."
"Thank you." Danny replied. He then took an elevator and met his friends at the top of the tower. "Hi, Liv. Hi, Andy. Hi, Mike."
"Hi, Danny." Liv and Mike replied almost at the same time. Andy was a little late.
"So, what's like being at Michael Collins' home after the bad things you said about him?" Andy teased Danny.
"I didn't say anything bad about him, Andy." Danny couldn't stand how obsessive Andy could be. "I'm just not into sports. I don't even understand why someone would want such a huge statue of themself." If not for Mike's presence, Danny would have asked if Michael Collins was overcompensating for something.
"I can't speak for others but my statue helps me to practice." Michael Collins commented as he revealed his presence. "You must be Mike's new friend Danny Fenton. Nice to meet you."
"N-nice to meet you too, Mr. Collins." Danny replied, surprised that a jock so rich and famous could be so nice even to someone not into his sport. He then took another look at the statue and noticed the hoop. "Can you score there?"
"I sure can." Michael Collins answered, grabbed a basketball and, to Danny's surprise, sat at a reclining chair with his back turned on the hoop. In spite of that, Michael didn't miss.
"Stop!" Andy said as Danny was about to grab the ball. "It's not over yet."
"What do you mean?" Danny asked but soon got his answer as the ball bounced its way back to Michael Collins' hand. "Okay, I'm impressed and I'm not even a basketball fan."
"Hooray!" Andy cheered at the fact Michael Collins got another "fan".
