With Iliaster no longer threatening New Domino City, Estelle and the Signers are now facing the next challenge by the fork of adulthood where it's time for them to choose to stay together or leave the city and plow their own path to their dreams. No matter which course they choose, they know their bond will never die. Yusei/OC, Jack/Carly, Aki/Sherry, and other shippings.

13. Clashing Souls

This chapter was exhausting. I need to take a break from this story for a while before I write the last chapter of the current arc.

Chapter 13: Clashing Souls

The sun was barely peeking up from the horizon, the overcast sky bringing a slight depressing atmosphere together with a thin fog sweeping through the still sleeping city. A handful of people had driven to the harbor to bear witness to the Turbo Duel that was about to begin. Jack and Yusei had tuned their Runners and checked their Decks to make sure everything was ready. Estelle and the other Signers stood next to the two purring motorcycles, waiting for the countdown to reach zero. Leo and Luna were still a little tired and rubbed their eyes to stay awake. Estelle shivered and pulled her coat closer to her body to stay warm.

"Yusei and Jack are about to battle…", Crow murmured softly, sensing how his body was shaking by unknown reasons. "I've seen them battle many times since I was a kid, so why am I shaking?"

"Jack", Yusei called out. "This is the first time we're Dueling each other since the Fortune Cup.

"Yeah", Jack nodded. "Many things have happened since then. I can't believe I had to fight by your side against many enemies."

Yusei didn't take any offense to that comment, knowing it was just Jack's sarcastic tongue speaking. "Yeah, but it was fun for me."

"Me too", Jack spoke honestly. "But I've been looking forward to Dueling you again."

"My heart may have been thinking the same thing."

"Nothing will interfere with our Duel anymore."

"Yeah." Yusei twisted the throttle of his Runner, listening to the engine that roared without issues. "I'll give it my all in this Duel!"

"Of course", Jack snapped back and tensed his muscles, eager to start the Duel. "I will also strike you with everything I have! My soul is completely about Dueling!"

Estelle picked up her phone and took the role as the Master of Ceremonies. "The Turbo Duel between Yusei and Jack is about to begin! Gentlemen, activate the Field Spell!"

"Speed World 2, set!"

"Duel Mode on."

The Solid Vision was activated as soon as Speed World 2 came to play. Estelle started the countdown from ten seconds. Crow and the others joined in at the five seconds mark. Yusei and Jack listened at the timer ready to take off.

"Five, four, three, two, one!"

"Turbo Duel! Acceleration!" Jack and Yusei yelled out simultaneously with their wheels screeching on the concrete as they took off.

Yusei: 4000 LP = SPC 0

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 0

"Whoever takes the first corner goes first!" Jack called out as they neared the first corner that would lead them up to a vacant Duel lane.

It was a battle of getting the first turn. The men maneuvered their Runners to take the corner, but Yusei managed to slip through and expertly rounded the corner first with speed and control.

"I'll go first!" he yelled out to Jack who was right behind his tail.

Jack frowned at the result, but he didn't mind going second, considering the hand he had. "I'll let you have it."

The Duelists drove up to the empty highway as the holographic signs showed them where to drive to get onto Duel lane. They didn't wait to start their Turbo Duel there, so Yusei drew his sixth card to commence the Duel. "My turn! I pay 700 Life Points to Special summon Assault Synchron!"

Yusei: 4000 LP – 3300 LP = SPC 0

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 0

With the exchange of Life Points, a summoning gate appeared next to Yusei. A black military jet plane flew out from it and transformed into its true form of a robot.

Assault Synchron, Level 2, Tuner: ATK 700

"You paid Life Points to summon a Tuner Monster?" Jack questioned through the radio.

"Yes, because I now summon Bright Star Dragon!"

A dragon monster with yellow armor and white wings joined the Tuner Monster. It was one of Estelle's old cards she had used a long time ago. She had given it to Yusei as a gift after she switched over to her pure Blue-Eyes Deck.

Bright Star Dragon, Level 4: ATK 1900

"When Bright Star Dragon is Normal summoned, it can increase another Monster's Level by two until the end of this turn! Assault Synchron's Level rises from two to four!"

Assault Synchron, Level 2 – Level 4, Tuner: ATK 700

Jack didn't hold back his smirk. He knew what his foster brother was about to do.

"I tune Level 4 Assault Synchron with Level 4 Bright Star Dragon!Clustering hopes will become a new shining star! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro summon! Take flight, Stardust Dragon!"

The two Monsters tuned into one, spreading silver light that rained upon both Turbo Duelists as Stardust Dragon joined the battle. He released a shriek, happy and eager to assist his master in this battle.

Stardust Dragon, Level 8: ATK 2500

"I set one card and end my turn!"

"My turn!" Jack called out and drew his sixth card at the beginning of his turn.

Yusei: 3300 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1

"I Special summon Kaiser Vorse Raider from my hand by having no Monsters on my field!"

A beast-warrior clad in Eastern-style armor appeared next to Jack with a large blade in its hands.

Kaiser Vorse Raider, Level 5: ATK 1900

"Next, I summon Dark Resonator!"

One of Jack's many Resonator Monsters appeared on the field. It grinned maliciously and played with its tuning fork to taunt the opponent.

Dark Resonator, Level 3, Tuner: ATK 1300

Yusei didn't have to put two and two together for this equation. He knew which Monster Jack was about to summon.

"I tune Level 3 Dark Resonator with Level 5 Kaiser Vorse Raider! The ruler's heartbeats will now file through here! Bear witness to its creation shaking power! Synchro summon! My very soul, Red Dragon Archfiend!"

The two Monsters transformed into a blazing inferno for the Synchro summoning of their king's ace partner. The silhouette of Red Dragon Archfiend appeared in the middle of the flames before he broke through and screeched threateningly at the silver dragon.

Red Dragon Archfiend, Level 8: ATK 3000

The Duelists finally made it to their designated Duel lane so they wouldn't distract any drivers on the highway. The dragons flew after their masters while waiting for further orders.

"I won't hold back, Yusei!" Jack yelled out. "Battle! Red Dragon Archfiend, attack Stardust Dragon! Absolute Powerforce!"

Red Dragon Archfiend responded to the command by setting his fist ablaze to scorch the starry dragon into nothing but ashes. Stardust Dragon braced himself and watched the flames approach him, threatening him to be reduced to particles.

"I activate my Trap; Reinforcements!" Yusei called out. "It increases one of my Monster's attack points with 500 for the rest of this turn!"

"What?!" Jack gasped in surprise, not expecting this move.

Stardust Dragon screeched and breathed his Cosmic Flare at Red Dragon Archfiend, their attack clashing with one another, trying to push the other back.

Stardust Dragon, Level 8: ATK 2500 – ATK 3000

The beam of Cosmic Flare slipped past Red Dragon Archfiend's fist and struck him by the neck. The red and black dragon screeched in pain, but he refused to go down alone. With his last strength, he punched Stardust Dragon in the face, forcing both dragons to be destroyed and leave the field open for their Signers.

"You forced our dragons to leave the field by knocking each other out", Jack commented in slight disbelief. He hadn't predicted Yusei to pull such a bold move.

"Yeah. And I know they will appear in our future", Yusei responded.

"Future?"

"That's right! I will help everyone find their future in this Duel!"

Jack frowned and grabbed another card from his Wrist Dealer. "I set one card and end my turn!"

Yusei nodded and reached for his Deck. "My turn!"

Yusei: 3300 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2

He checked the card he had drawn for his turn and immediately formulated a strategy in his mind. "I send one Monster to the Graveyard to Special summon Quickdraw Synchron!"

The robot cowboy appeared from a gate and threw his mantle over his shoulder with a grunt. He adjusted his hat and levitated next to Yusei, his hand resting on one of his guns.

Quickdraw Synchron, Level 5, Tuner: ATK 1900

"Next, I summon Ipiria!"

A blue lizard with white mane and a large moustache slithered out to the field with a hiss, its tongue licking the hair to taste the salty flavor of the Turbo Duel.

Ipiria, Level 2: DEF 500

Jack arched a brow at the reptile. He had never seen that card in Yusei's Deck before. Then again, he knew the raven-haired man had a tendency of using low level Monsters to show no card was weak or useless.

"Ipiria's effect! Once per turn, when it's summoned, I get to draw one card! Now I tune Level 5 Quickdraw Synchron with Level 2 Ipiria! Clustering roars turn into an echoing arrow which tears through the sky! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro summon! Show yourself, Junk Archer!"

The warrior with yellow armor and his faithful bow replaced the two Monsters and grunted in relief for joining the battle. He scanned the field and calculated a perfect shoot at Jack once Yusei was ready to give it commands.

Junk Archer, Level 7: ATK 2300

The sky rumbled with a light rain shower soaking the city like Mother Nature was crying for the two Turbo Duelists who were about to clash with one another. It didn't stop Yusei from proceeding to the next phase.

"Battle! Junk Archer, attack directly with Scrap Arrow!"

Junk Archer summoned an arrow made of leftover scraps and loaded his bow. He locked his target on Jack and fired the arrow. Jack rolled his eyes at the incoming arrow and calmly reached for his Duel Disk. "I activate my Continuous Trap; Powerful Rebirth! I Special summon Dark Resonator from the Graveyard in defense mode, and his Level increases by one and his attack and defense gain 100 points!"

The fiend Tuner returned to the field with a malicious cackle. It used its tuning fork as a shield for the incoming rusty arrow.

Dark Resonator, Level 3 – Level 4, Tuner: DEF 300 – DEF 400

The sharp projectile made contact with Dark Resonator and bounced off like it had struck an impenetrable wall. The fiend laughed mockingly at Junk Archer for failing to defeat it thanks to its protective ability.

The blonde Signer nodded proudly to himself and drove after the red Duel Runner. "Don't get overconfident, Yusei! Dark Resonator cannot be destroyed once per battle! Did you really think you can inflict damage to me that easily? The curtain won't fall until the lead actor gives his final speech! And the lead actor of this Duel is yours truly, Jack Atlas!"

Yusei chuckled at Jack's determination. "I end my turn."

"Incredible", Aki commented. "Even Jack isn't taking a step back."

"Jack is already focused on his future", Crow nodded. "His strength is confident and unwavering. I'm jealous of him."

"Me too…", Aki mumbled. "I'm a little scared of taking this big step of leaving the country and live independently in a foreign place…"

Sherry cast a concerned glance at her fellow Signer. She placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it slightly. The red-haired Duelist was surprised first and turned her attention first to the hand and then to Sherry's face. The blonde smiled gently at her which relaxed the redhead a bit. She returned the smile before she redirected her attention back to the Duel.

Jack and Yusei exited the current Duel lane with their tires screeching against the wet concrete. They made sure not to drive as fast as they intended because none of the men wanted the Duel to come to an abrupt end with them ending up in the hospital.

"My turn!" Jack yelled out and commenced his turn.

Yusei: 3300 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3

"I summon Exploder Dragon!"

A dragon with dark blue scales and large wings joined the lone Tuner Monster. It carried a spiky bomb in its clawed hands, ready to use it if needed to destroy an enemy's Monster if it ever got destroyed in battle.

Exploder Dragon, Level 3: ATK 1000

"I tune Level 4 Dark Resonator with Level 3 Exploder Dragon! The ruler's shouts echo throughout! Hammer of Victory, shatter the very earth! Synchro summon! Flap your wings, Exploder Dragonwing!"

The thundering roar of the new Synchro Monster echoed in the area as it dominated Jack's field after the two previous Monsters combined their powers into one to summon it. Exploder Dragonwing was more like the evolved form of Exploder Dragon with essence from Dark Resonator.

Exploder Dragonwing, Level 7: ATK 2400

"Battle! Exploder Dragonwing, attack Junk Archer! King Storm!"

The dragon breathed a strong fiery breath with a screech echoing from its throat. Junk Archer attempted to intercept the attack by firing an arrow, but it got engulfed by the heatwave. The archer's body sparkled before it had no other option but to surrender and self-destructed after it couldn't withstand the attack. Yusei grunted when his Duel Runner shook by the aftermath of his Monster's destruction. He drove out of the smoke and checked the status on the monitor. His eyes budged a little when he saw his Life Points had almost dropped down to the red mark zone.

Yusei: 3300 LP – 1000 LP = SPC 3

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 3

Jack drove past Yusei as he had now the advantage over the Turbo Duel. "When Exploder Dragonwing battles a Monster with equal or fewer attack points, your Monster is destroyed without calculating damage and you take damage equal to its attack points! Yusei, do you now know my absolute power? There's nothing you can do with your measly two cards in your hand!"

Yusei bit his lower lip to refrain himself from saying something that could agitate both himself and his opponent. The two cards he had in his hand could give him a chance to stay in the game a little longer if he drew a good card on his next turn.

"I set one card and end my turn!" Jack called out.

The Duelists drove up the highway with the sky still crying above them. They could feel the chilly wind caressing their wet suits, but their hearts were pumping rapidly with the help of adrenaline. It warmed their bodies up together with the engine of their Runners.

"This is my overwhelmingly powerful strength!" Jack declared. "Yusei, if you're the sword, then I'm the axe! I'll swing it down wildly and slash you apart! I'll annihilate your foolish soul for challenging a giant!"

The blonde Signer was so deep in his spoken thoughts he didn't notice that Yusei had moved into another road along the highway. It was only when he saw a flash of red at the corner of his eye.

"Too bad, but we're traveling different paths!" Yusei said, not just referring to the physical road. "My path is with the wind. You can't stop it with a giant axe!"

Jack smirked at his foster brother's choice. "Big talk."

"You bring it out of me", Yusei replied. "I won't let you have this Duel!"

"Wrong! Victory is something you take!"

The leader of the Signers chuckled at Jack's comment. While he was taking this Duel seriously, he actually had fun battling against his childhood friend and see how much stronger both have become even if they were taking different paths toward the future. "My turn!"

Yusei: 1000 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4

Jack: 4000 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4

He held back his reaction when he got an unexpected card that actually came to his rescue. "I Special summon Level Warrior as a Level 4 Monsters because only my opponent controls a Monster!"

A humanoid Monster dressed in a superhero costume levitated out from a gate next to Yusei's Runner. It punched the air, eager to battle, but it was forced into defense mode as a precaution.

Level Warrior, Level 3 – Level 4: DEF 600

"Now I play the Speed Spell – Angel Baton! I can only activate this card if I have two or more Speed Counters! I draw two cards from my Deck and send one card from my hand to the Graveyard! The card I sent was Limiter Overload and its effect activates when discarded to the Graveyard! I can Special summon Speed Warrior from either my hand, Deck or Graveyard!"

One of Yusei's signature Monsters skated out to the field and grunted when it did a pirouette. It then got into fetal position and crossed its arms in front of its chest.

Speed Warrior, Level 2: DEF 400

"Next, I summon Jet Synchron!"

A new Synchron Monster joined the battlefield. It had the appearance of a jet engine before it unfolded itself into its bipedal form, the main engine itself attached to its back like a thruster.

Jet Synchron, Level 1, Tuner: ATK 500

Jack hummed to himself when he saw the new Monster. He didn't recognize this one either, so he was looking forward to see what Yusei was about to do.

"I tune Level 1 Jet Synchron with Level 4 Level Warrior! Clustering engines purr to life to bring the winds of hope for the future! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro summon! Roar, Jet Warrior!"

Jet Synchron attached itself on Level Warrior before they transformed together into a new Synchro Monster. A black jet plane took over their place and transformed into its humanoid form with its engine roaring to life.

Jet Warrior, Level 5: ATK 2100

"Jet Synchron's effect! When it's sent to the Graveyard as Synchro Material, I can add one Junk Monster from my Deck to my hand! I choose Junk Synchron and chain with Jet Warrior's effect! When he's Synchro summoned, I can target one card you control and return it to hand!"

"What?" Jack gasped in surprise.

"Jet Warrior, send Exploder Dragonwing back to Jack's Extra Deck!"

Said warrior hummed and activated his engines, creating a whirlwind that engulfed the Synchro dragon. Exploder Dragonwing fought against the violent current, but it couldn't win against the effect. Its body shrunk and returned to the blonde man's Extra Deck, leaving Jack's field wide open.

There was a brief second of hesitation. He could command Jet Warrior to attack directly, but he was concerned about Jack's facedown card. He hadn't activated it yet, so maybe this was an open window for him to inflict damage and even the score. "Battle! Jet Warrior, attack Jack directly! Jet Stream!"

Jet Warrior activated its thrusters and flew toward the white Duel Runner. Jack frowned at the Monster and scanned his facedown card. He could activate it now, but it would only cost him a massive loss, so he decided to hold onto it. He calmly took the direct attack of Jet Warrior blowing a strong air current at him which forced his motorcycle to wobble. He felt the band of his Runner almost slip on the soaked concrete, but as an experienced driver he was, he regained the control.

Yusei: 1000 LP = SPC 4

Jack: 4000 LP – 1900 LP = SPC 4

"Well done, Yusei!" Jack said.

"I told you", Yusei retorted. "You bring this out of me."

The others watched intensely the moment Yusei managed to land an attack on Jack with the new Monster he had added to his Deck. "This time Yusei countered back!" Crow gaped, feeling thrilled at the change of flow. "What attack and defense! Even I'm getting fired up!"

"So am I", Estelle nodded, smiling proudly at her boyfriend.

"Yusei! Jack!" the twins cheered eagerly for the men, also getting the thrill of the battle.

Aki watched the Duel quietly while thinking back of the time she had known Yusei. He always fought for someone else, even if it put himself in danger. He had done the same for her, displaying concern and affection of a big brother. He always put everybody else before himself, showing his selfless side of protecting people and friends he deeply cared for. Even right now, he was Dueling for her and everyone else who still felt hesitation in their hearts. Seeing the courage reflecting in his eyes brought peace to her mind; she knew she was going to be fine if she took the courage herself to take the next step on her path to the future. She promised she would one day be as strong as Yusei and embrace and protect everyone and anyone, especially the blonde woman next to her who still had her hand placed on Aki's shoulder.

The clouds darkened as the rain got intense as if Mother Nature knew the Turbo Duel was about to take a deeper turn. Yusei drove up the road and made it back to the highway next to Jack. "I end my turn!"

The duo drove under the large monument symbolizing the union of New Domino City and Satellite. Jack licked his lips clean from the rain as his throat felt a little dry, needing to moisten his tongue. "My turn!"

Yusei: 1000 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5

Jack: 1900 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5

"I Special summon Vice Dragon because only you control a Monster right now with the cost of his attack and defense points being cut in half!"

The dragon in question snapped its jaw hungrily when it was summoned out to the field. It was hoping to get something to eat to both quell the hunger and regain the strength it had just lost.

Vice Dragon, Level 5: ATK 2000 – ATK 1000

"Next, I summon Influence Dragon!"

Another dragon appeared on the field, but this one had a different appearance compared to Vice Dragon. Its scales were blue and its head had more of a bird shape with the long beak of a hummingbird.

Influence Dragon, Level 3, Tuner: ATK 300

"I tune Level 3 Influence Dragon with Level 5 Vice Dragon!The ruler's determination will now become a crimson blade with a boiling-red flame! Surpass the heat, surging waves and show yourself! Synchro summon! The Fierce God of Flames, Crimson Blader!"

The dragons left the field to welcome the warrior clad in crimson armor. It eagerly danced around with its dual swords before it took its stand next to Jack.

Crimson Blader, Level 8: ATK 2800

"Crimson Blader, go and attack Jet Warrior! Red Burner!"

The Synchro Monster channeled its power and set both swords in fire before it attacked Jet Warrior. Yusei's Monster had no chance against the Crimson Blader and was slashed in half, exploding into smoke. Yusei coughed to clear his throat from the smoke as his Life Points went down to a dangerous level.

Yusei: 1000 LP – 300 LP = SPC 5

Jack: 1900 LP = SPC 5

"When Crimson Blader destroys a Monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you cannot summon any Level 5 or higher Monsters during your next turn, Yusei!" Jack made sure to inform his foster brother about his Monster's effect. He was aware of Junk Synchron in Yusei's hand, so he had locked him out from summoning Junk Warrior or other Level 5 Synchro Monsters.

"So this is the results of your training, Jack?" Yusei wondered.

"I focused on many techniques for my Power Duel so that my Dueling would create even more power! I'm close to perfection!"

Leo thought back of how his life used to be before he met Yusei, Jack and the others. He felt weak and useless for failing to protect his twin sister from danger that he had no control over, especially that one time when Luna's spirit ventured to the Spirit World when they were toddlers. He feigned his confidence to hide his weakness. That all changed when he got involved with the Signers. He was taught to never give up. That courage was what touched the Crimson Dragon and blessed him with the Mark of the Heart so he could have the power to protect Luna as her older brother.

Luna was also deep in her thoughts reminiscing the times she spent with Yusei and everyone. It was thanks to their encouragement that she was able to get courage and strength when she ran from her mission of protecting the Spirit World. She was scared of having such a big burden on her shoulder, but she realized she wasn't carrying it alone. She had her brother and the others who shared that weight and together they saved not just the Spirit World but also their own world from multiple threats. She was forever grateful that she met the Signers who taught her and her brother a lot of finding courage and strength within.

"My turn!" Yusei shouted.

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 6

Jack: 1900 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 6

There wasn't much he could do with the current cards in his hand. Junk Synchron was out of question, so he grabbed his other two cards. "I set two cards and end my turn."

"I've forced you into a corner now!" Jack smirked amusingly when they drove into the Central Domino Tunnel and escaped the cold rain. "You were unable to summon a Level 5 Synchro Monster this turn, so all you can rely on now are those two set cards!"

"We'll see about that", Yusei replied. "Do you know what I'm thinking?"

"I already know what you're planning!" Jack declared. "One of those facedown cards must be Scrap-Iron Scarecrow! Meaning if I attack with Crimson Blader, you will negate that attack and survive one more turn and protect Speed Warrior from destruction and get the chance of summoning a Level 5 or higher Monster! However! If I summon another Monster with enough attack points, it will destroy your Monster and clear up your field for me to attack on your next turn! So it could be up to your other facedown card if it protects your Life Points! Only you would pull such a petty strategy!"

Yusei chuckled at Jack's speculation. He was almost right on point. "We never change, do we? We'll spend our entire lives thinking about Dueling, cards, pride and fixations."

"Yeah, that will never change!" Jack replied, a wide confident smile erupting on his face. "The present, the past or the future!"

Crow held back a gasp when he thought back at the old days when he and his foster brothers were still little kids playing around with their cards, coming up with their own rules and having fun. Even to this day, they had never really changed much. He couldn't change himself or the way he preferred Dueling. All he ever wanted so far was to see the joyous looks on the orphans' faces he took care of. And he wanted to bring that kind of joyfulness to all of his Duels, spreading joy and inspiration to the next generation and realize not all Duels had to be as serious as they seemed to be.

Sherry couldn't help but feel a little envious. She was robbed of her childhood and family by Iliaster and had to grow up fast to survive the hardships of finding the answers she desperately needed so she could understand why her life shattered like fragile glass. She tried picking up the pieces and put them back together, but they always slipped out of her grasp. That was until she met the Signers. It was thanks to them she found herself again and conquered her quest of defeating Iliaster. Now she could move on and build up her life in the way she wanted without her future dreams getting stolen once again.

"My turn!" Jack called out, snapping everyone out of their thoughts.

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 7

Jack: 1900 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 7

The corner of his lips twitched into a smirk when he saw the card he had drawn. He had all the pieces he needed for his final move. "I activate my Continuous Trap; Descending Lost Star! I Special summon Red Dragon Archfiend from my Graveyard in defense mode with one less Level, his defense points becomes zero and effects negated and he cannot change battle position! Return, my soul!"

A whirl of fire sprouted up from the concrete between Jack and Yusei's Runners. Crimson Blader bowed to the flames as the mighty form of Red Dragon Archfiend appeared on the field like a king. He roared out his aggression when he was forced into defense position.

Red Dragon Archfiend, Level 8 – Level 7: DEF 2500 – DEF 0

"You've waited for the right time to summon him back, didn't you?" Yusei questioned, not feeling worried or threatened by the Signer Dragon.

"I did! Because I'm going to end the Duel this turn! When there's a Level 5 or higher DARK Monster on the field, I can Special summon Vision Resonator from my hand!"

A new Resonator Monster appeared on the field holding the usual tuning fork in its hands. However, this particular Tuner Monster had a strikingly similar eye on its robe that looked the same as the eye symbol on Carly's Fortune Ladies.

Vision Resonator, Level 2, Tuner: ATK 400

"Next, if I control a Level 8 or higher Synchro Monster, I can Special summon Creation Resonator from my hand!"

Another Resonator Tuner popped onto the field after it used the wind fan attached to its back as a propeller to fly out from the summoning gate.

Creation Resonator, Level 3, Tuner: ATK 800

A red fiery aura leaked out from Jack's Mark and spread across his body with his eyes burning by his awakened power of Blazing Soul. "Yusei, witness my raging soul to the end!"

"Yeah! Bring it on, Jack!" Yusei yelled out and sped after the white Runner in front of him, knowing Jack was about to bring forth his A-game.

"My soul is running wild!" Jack roared, getting overwhelmed by his burning spirit. "I double tune Level 3 Creation Resonator and Level 2 Vision Resonator with Level 7 Red Dragon Archfiend! The King and the Devil, here and now, shall become as one. O Raging Spirit! Lift up the very cries of creation itself! Synchro summon! Come forth, Red Nova Dragon!"

Red Dragon Archfiend was enveloped by tuning rings made out of fire before his body transformed into his stronger form infused by Jack's power of Blazing Soul. Ember rained around the Signers when the evolution was done, a tiny scent of fire tickling their nose.

Red Nova Dragon, Level 12: ATK 3500

"Red Nova Dragon gains five-hundred attack points for every Tuner Monster in my Graveyard! There are four Tuner Monsters in my Graveyard! Therefore, Red Nova Dragon gains two-thousand attack points!"

Said dragon roared as a fiery aura enveloped him and blessed him with the power of the four Tuner Monsters resting in Jack's Graveyard.

Red Nova Dragon, Level 12: ATK 3500 – ATK 5500

"Not only that, but Vision Resonator's effect activates when it's sent to the Graveyard!" Jack called out. "I can add one Spell or Trap card that mentions Red Dragon Archfiend from my Deck to my hand! I select Red Cocoon!"

Yusei narrowed his eyes at the situation. This Duel could now come to an end, but it all depended on which Monster Jack was going to use to attack Speed Warrior with. He tightened his grip on the right handlebar of his Runner, stiffening his body to prepare himself for the Battle Phase.

"Red Nova Dragon, attack Speed Warrior with Burning Soul!"

Red Nova Dragon enveloped himself with fire in the middle of a twirl in the air. He roared warningly and flew toward Speed Warrior.

However! Yusei wasn't going to allow himself going down that easily. He maneuvered his Runner to dodge the incoming move and drove up the wall of the tunnel before Speed Warrior was destroyed and burned into ashes. He silently thanked his Monster for being the scapegoat before he activated one of his facedown cards. "I activate my Trap; Scramble Egg!"

"What?!" Jack exclaimed, not expecting Yusei to activate a card that could save him, and not just any card.

"When a Monster I control is destroyed by battle or card effect, I can Special summon Sonic Chick from my hand, Deck or Graveyard!"

A colorful egg floated out from the Trap card. It wobbled a couple of seconds before the shell cracked and Sonic Chick ran out from it with a chirp of a new hatched chick.

Sonic Chick, Level 1: DEF 300

"As if a little chick is going to prevent me from winning!" Jack snorted. "Crimson Blader, attack Sonic Chick with Red Burner!"

Crimson Blader flew toward the defense chick and attempted to slash it apart with his swords. Sonic Chick shrieked in terror and curled itself into a ball. Just as the warrior was about to strike the poor animal, a force field appeared around the pink bird, preventing it from getting destroyed.

"Even though it only has three-hundred defense points, Sonic Chick can't be destroyed in battle against a Monster with nineteen-hundred or more attack points!" Yusei called out.

Jack bit back a growl at the failure of defeating Yusei this turn. He should have known better about Yusei's common tricks. If he had attacked Speed Warrior with Crimson Blader, he could have immobilized Yusei from summoning high level Monsters. His only excuse was he got caught in the literal heat of using his powerhouse of a dragon first.

Yusei dodged large air ventilators on the ceiling of the tunnel and drove down to the ground with Sonic Chick running next to him. The Duelists drove out of the tunnel and were greeted by a clearing sky with white clouds. They had driven to the industry area of New Domino City. Yusei filled his lungs with fresh air, smelling the salt from both the rain and the ocean. "During my battle against Z-one, my future self, my father spoke to my heart."

Everyone got quiet and listened closely. He hadn't told them about his encounter with his father during the battle that had determined the fate and future of New Domino City.

"About what I must do. Like the Ener-D's Planetary Particles, I must guide and connect people's hearts. Connecting people forms a bond. Even if everyone goes their separate ways, I want to become the bond that connects everyone's hearts, like the Yusei Gear. That's why we don't need to feel confused. We can all stand and head out alone."

Everyone got tear-eyed by Yusei's declaration. He promised he was going to become the main cog that kept everyone together and encouraged them to move forward, not having to fear of their bond getting torn apart. He was taking on a huge responsibility to make sure the bond the Signers had created shall always stay intact.

Estelle wiped her tears off with a proud smile. Yusei could never give up on the people he cared deeply for. That was one of the many traits she fell for long before she was brought to this world by the Crimson Dragon. Not only that, but he and everyone gave her courage to find her inner strength and realize she was much stronger than what she believed in herself. And she wanted to use her strength to protect her precious friends and support her lover whenever he needed somebody to comfort him and chase away his own demons. It almost felt like a miracle that her love was reciprocated not because of a scripted plot based on a romance movie but by real mutual feelings.

Jack held back his own tears, refusing to crumble down in the heat of moment. He may have said before he didn't need the bond between him and everyone of Team 5D's, but that was a lie. If it wasn't for Yusei and Crow, his two best friends, he wouldn't be the man he was today. And even if they were far apart, he knew he could keep thriving because his friends were always going to cheer for him and encourage him to do his very best.

"Then I'll stand! I'll head into the world as King!" Jack yelled out, his voice barely hiding the emotions stuck in his throat. "I set one card and end my turn! Now, show me what you can do, Yusei!"

Yusei nodded and reached for his Deck. "My turn!"

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 7 – SPC 8

Jack: 1900 LP = SPC 7 – SPC 8

"I activate the effects of Speed World 2! I remove seven Speed Counters to draw a card!"

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 8 – SPC 1

Jack: 1900 LP = SPC 8

His Duel Runner slowed down immensely and couldn't keep up with Jack's Runner. Yusei drew the extra card and put it on his Wrist Dealer before he grabbed the card he had drawn at the beginning of his turn. "I summon Righty Driver!"

A female robot acting like a magical girl appeared on the field with long hair made out of blue glass fiber.

Righty Driver, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 300

"When Righty Driver is Normal summoned, I can Special summon her sister Lefty Driver from my hand, Deck or Graveyard!"

This time a yellow robot joined her sister on the field wearing a skirt instead of a bodysuit like Righty Driver.

Lefty Driver, Level 2: DEF 100

"I tune Level 1 Righty Driver with Level 1 Sonic Chick! Clustering wishes will call out a new speed's horizon! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro summon! The Power of Hope! Formula Synchron!"

The two low level Monsters left the field and made way for the Formula One racecar. The Monster revved its engine to show it was ready to rev it up alongside Yusei.

Formula Synchron, Level 2, Tuner: DEF 1500

"When Formula Synchron is Synchro summoned, I get to draw one card!" Yusei said and drew an additional card.

"Are you that desperate to draw cards that you're now relying on Monsters with such power?" Jack questioned. "Or are you planning something else with Formula Synchron?"

"Yeah", Yusei replied. "I activate my Trap; Stardust Flash! I Special summon Stardust Dragon from my Graveyard! Return, Stardust Dragon!"

The sky opened up with a spotlight of silver shining upon both Runners. A screech echoed from the clouds before Stardust Dragon flew down like a shooting star. He roared at Red Nova Dragon, not caring if there was a huge difference in attack points.

Stardust Dragon, Level 8: ATK 2500

"I knew it", Jack mumbled to himself. "He's planning to bring that out!"

Yusei closed his eyes as he allowed his mind to empty all thoughts and only listen to the sound of the wind. His Mark responded and transferred some of its energy to his Duel Runner. The motorcycle was enveloped by the power as he prepared himself to summon the evolution of Stardust Dragon.

"Clear Mind! I tune Level 2 Formula Synchron with Level 8 Stardust Dragon! Clustering crystal dreams open the door to a new evolution! Become the path its light shines upon! Accel Synchro!" Yusei vanished in the speed of light and suddenly appeared in front of Jack with the evolved dragon. "Be born, Shooting Star Dragon!"

The silver dragon roared to the sky as a greeting before it levitated above its master next to Red Nova Dragon. The dragons barred their teeth at one another, ready to battle tooth and claw to bring victory to their master.

Shooting Star Dragon, Level 10: ATK 3300

"So your Shooting Star Dragon has finally appeared!" Jack called out. "Clearly, you're targeting Crimson Blader! But due to Red Nova Dragon's effect, he can remove himself from play this turn to negate your attack!"

"But you can only do that once!" Yusei reminded his friend. "Shooting Star Dragon's effect allows me to check the top five cards of my Deck and he can attack for every Tuner Monster among them!" He drew the top five cards and inspected them. Among the cards, he found a total of three Tuner Monsters. "I drew three Tuners! Therefore, Shooting Star can attack three times! Stardust Mirage!"

Jack gritted his teeth in frustration while the silver Dragon created three illusions of itself for a triple attack. He couldn't stop Shooting Star Dragon from attacking now, so it would be a waste using Red Nova Dragon's effect.

"Shooting Star Dragon, attack Crimson Blader!"

The evolved dragon turned around to face the warrior. Crimson Blader used its blade to block the incoming attack, but it was too weak to resist a Signer Dragon's strength. It exploded into flames and bits which rained upon Jack, forcing his Life Points down a notch.

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 1

Jack: 1900 LP – 1400 LP = SPC 8

"Attack me with your two remaining attacks, Yusei!" Jack dared him. "That is, if you really think you can blast away my soul!"

Yusei knew it was suicide to even attempt attacking Red Nova Dragon. He ended his Battle Phase and grabbed two cards from his Wrist Dealer. "I set two cards and end my turn." He led them into a chase among the factories. The roads were empty, but they still made sure to keep their eyes open in case somebody was to step out right in front of them.

Jack didn't question Yusei's choice of path and reached for his Deck, hoping it was going to be his last Draw Phase of the Turbo Duel. "My turn!"

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2

Jack: 1400 LP = SPC 8 – SPC 9

He got a good card, but he decided to hold it for now just like Yusei was waiting for the right moment to summon his stubborn Junk Synchron. "I activate my Continuous Trap; Red Cocoon! This card equips to Red Nova. When he battles, your Monster's effects are negated!"

Red Nova Dragon curled himself it a ball while he was encased in a scarlet cocoon that beat like a heart rhythm. The cocoon faded away, but its energy was still active and connected to the evolved dragon.

"I summon Top Runner!"

A machine monster in the shape of an athletic human dashed out of a gate next to Jack, its gold medal hanging proudly in front of its chest. It released puffs of steam from an air vent serving as its mouth for each step it ran.

Top Runner, Level 4, Tuner: ATK 1100

"When Top Runner is on the field, every Synchro Monster I control gain six hundred attack points!"

Top Runner aimed its fingerless hands at Red Nova Dragon and shared some of its power with the current King of the Hill, increasing the dragon's strength additionally.

Red Nova Dragon, Level 12: ATK 5500 – ATK 6100

Jack could taste the sweet victory on his lips. He was aware of Yusei's set cards, but he had a good feeling about the outcome of this Battle Phase. "Red Nova Dragon, attack Shooting Star Dragon with Burning Soul!"

The male Signers drove through an empty magazine as Red Nova Dragon enveloped himself with a burning aura. He was just about to dig his teeth and claw into his rival when Yusei activated one of his Trap cards. "I activate Mirror Mail! When my Monster is targeted for an attack, its attack becomes equal to the attacking Monster!"

"What?!" Jack exclaimed.

Shooting Star Dragon's silver body got coated by a reflective material in which Red Nova Dragon could see his own reflection as he reached toward him.

Shooting Star Dragon, Level 10: ATK 3300 – ATK 6100

Yusei's dragon grabbed the red dragon's arms before it could pierce its claws through the thick scales. Now it was a battle to test their strength, but it unfortunately ended with both of the dragons getting destroyed in an explosion inside the magazine. Jack and Yusei ducked their heads as they drove out of the smoke without their dragons.

The battle had resulted in another Double Knockout.

"No way!" Jack gasped in pure shock. "You made Shooting Star have the same attack points as Red Nova and forced them to crash!"

"Yeah!" Yusei nodded, feeling the sweat running down his face. "Just like in the first battle Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend had, I will face you on an equal standpoint!"

"But since Red Cocoon that's equipped on Red Nova was destroyed, I can Special summon Red Dragon Archfiend during the End Phase! And I'll have Top Runner clear your field by attacking Lefty Driver!"

Said Tuner Monster dashed toward the female robot who tried blocking an incoming punch with her weapon. Sadly, it didn't help out so much, so Lefty Driver joined her sister in the Graveyard. Now Yusei's field was wide open, except for one set card he hadn't activated yet.

"I activate Speed World 2 to remove seven Speed Counters and draw one card!"

Jack needed to get a good card in case his childhood friend was going to make a huge comeback. It was obvious he was going to rely on Junk Synchron, so he needed to set up his field for a good defense.

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 2

Jack: 1400 LP = SPC 9 – SPC 2

The blonde drew his card and grunted softly in disappointment. He put it in the Wrist Dealer and proceeded his turn. "I end my turn! Resurrect, Red Dragon Archfiend!"

The two Turbo Duelists drove on ramps above a large pool of molten liquid. The pool began bubbling as a large figure raised up from its grave, resurrecting into its former glory. Red Dragon Archfiend was a little exhausted after enduring two Double Knockouts, but he had reserved energy for a situation like this if he were to return to the field.

Red Dragon Archfiend, Level 8: ATK 3000 – ATK 3600

Yusei and Jack drove out of the magazine and inhaled fresh air after sweating like melted ice inside the factory. It wasn't like the cool breeze from the ocean could help them much because the adrenaline was still pumping rapidly through their bodies, both of them eager to see the outcome of this Duel.

"Yusei, your weak Junk Synchron can't stand up to my Red Dragon Archfiend!" Jack growled.

"Are you sure about that?"

"What?"

Yusei steered his Runner so he drove on a large pipe. He reached for his Deck and closed his eyes. He needed his Deck to answer his call, to find a way to end this exhausting Duel. "My turn!"

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3

Jack: 1400 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3

The Deck had responded to his feelings. He got the final piece of the puzzle.

"I summon Junk Synchron!"

One of his loyal Monsters that he had grown up with was summoned to the field, eager to be part of the action.

Junk Synchron, Level 3, Tuner: ATK 1300

"When Junk Synchron is summoned, I can Special summon a Level 2 or lower Monster from the Graveyard in defense position with its effects negated! Return, Speed Warrior!"

The skater popped out from a gate that Junk Synchron summoned, grunting as he was forced to go into defense position.

Speed Warrior, Level 2: DEF 400

"When there's a Tuner Monster on the field, I can Special summon Quillbolt Hedgehog from my Graveyard!"

Said animal with screws and bolts as spines joined the growing group of Monsters on Yusei's side.

Quillbolt Hedgehog, Level 2: ATK 800

"Next, I activate my Continuous Trap; Graceful Revival! I Special summon a Level 2 or lower Monster from my Graveyard in attack mode! Return, Assault Synchron!"

A pair of young angels helped pulling Assault Synchron out from the Graveyard, reviving him after he had crashed and burned himself.

Assault Synchron, Level 2, Tuner: ATK 700

"Jet Synchron's effect! I send one card from my hand to Special summon him, but he is removed from play when he leaves the field! Return, Jet Synchron!"

The Tuner Monster appeared on the final available zone on Yusei's field. He had summoned as many Monsters as possible for a very good reason, thanks to the card he had just discarded as cost to Special summon this Monster.

Jet Synchron, Level 1: ATK 500

"The card I just sent was Sonic Warrior, and when he's sent to the Graveyard, all Level 2 or lower Monsters I currently control gain five hundred attack points!"

Quillbolt Hedgehog, Level 2: ATK 800 – ATK 1300

Assault Synchron, Level 2: ATK 700 – ATK 1200

Jet Synchron, Level 1: ATK 500 – ATK 1000

"I tune Level 3 Junk Synchron with Level 2 Speed Warrior! Clustering stars will call upon a new force! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro summon! Show yourself, Junk Warrior!"

One of Yusei's best cards, the warrior who had stood by his side together with Stardust Dragon since childhood, appeared on the field. Junk Warrior twirled around with his long scarf without getting tangled up in a mess and took his position above his master.

Junk Warrior, Level 5: ATK 2300

"You play Junk Warrior now?" Jack arched a confused brow. It had been a long time since he last saw this Synchro Monster.

"When Junk Warrior is Synchro summoned, he gains attack points equal to the total attack points of all Level 2 or lower Monsters on my field!"

The other Monsters gladly shared their power with the warrior who was about to deliver one final punch of this Turbo Duel.

Junk Warrior, Level 5: ATK 2300 – ATK 5800

"Fifty-eight hundred attack points?!" Jack did a quick calculation. If Junk Warrior attacked Red Dragon Archfiend now, he could not only destroy the dragon but also inflict more than enough damage to reduce his Life Points to zero.

"Yusei's Monsters powered up due to the power of their bond", Aki commented. "This is…Yusei's true message to us."

"If we also have a bond, we can always remain strong!" Crow nodded, no longer feeling the clouds of hesitation shadowing his mind. "I've made my decision!"

"I've also decided!" Aki nodded, feeling the courage bubbling inside her stomach. Now she was eager to go and face the world with her head held up high.

"Me too!" the twins called out. Their worries had been washed away and cleared up their confusion.

Sherry may have already found her path to the future, but now after watching this Turbo Duel, she was eager to return home and continue thriving so she could one day become one of the best Duelists and be on par with her friends in the professional Duel League.

Estelle smiled proudly at her lover. He had managed to convey his feelings and message to the Signers and gave them courage to follow their dreams. "You are truly a guiding star, Yusei."

"Jack! Our Duel has taught me what lives in my soul!" Yusei said.

"I'll look forward to see what path you found after you're done protecting our home."

The answer was the least everyone expected, even for the Priestess. "I will remain in this city! Here I go, Jack!" He rode upwards along a crane and soared off of it, flying like he was ready to take off to the future and seek for the light like what Goodwin once did after he flew off the old Daedalus Bridge. "Junk Warrior, attack Red Dragon Archfiend with Scrap Fist!"

That was the sign Junk Warrior had been waiting for. He activated his rockets and blasted his way toward Red Dragon Archfiend with his fist. Red Dragon Archfiend stretched his own scorching hand out to block the attack, but it was to no avail. Junk Warrior summoned a power force in the shape of his fist that expanded to become as large as a house. It pushed the poor dragon down where a massive explosion of fire and smoke erupted. Jack was caught in the midst and screamed in terror as his Life Points took a major hit, finally ending the Turbo Duel that felt like it had lasted for hours.

Yusei: 300 LP = SPC 3

Jack: 1400 LP – 0 LP = SPC 3

His Runner came to a slow halt as the Solid Vision switched off now that the Duel was over. The motorcycle released lots of steam to cool down the overheated engine. Yusei came to a halt next to him and silently waited for Jack to say a word about the outcome.

The blonde man took a deep sigh and got off his Runner as soon as his heart had calmed down. "Well done, Yusei. Nothing in the world is useless. Your bond created a mighty attack that defeated the powerful. That resonated in my soul, Yusei! I now have another reason to come back here."

Yusei had a hunch on what Jack meant with the last sentence, but he kept those thoughts to himself. "Come back anytime. I'll be waiting."

The two childhood friends bumped determined fists against another, sealing the promise they were going to meet again.

"I won't lose next time!" Jack declared.

"Let's use all our strength again!" Yusei nodded, eager to battle again once they had become much stronger than they were today.

"Yusei!"

Estelle and the other Signers caught up to the exhausted Duelists. All of them were eager to share their thoughts of the future.

"Yusei, I've decided to go to the pro league!" Crow exclaimed enthusiastically.

"I will also train much harder than ever before so we can have an equally good battle in the future when I see you in the pro league", Sherry declared.

"I'll make sure to study and become a great doctor!" Aki nodded.

"Me too! When we get to United Kingdom, I'll write a letter every week!" Luna promised.

"I'll let our parents pamper me to make up for lost time!" Leo laughed.

Yusei couldn't be prouder of his friends who just less than twelve hours ago were hesitant about their future but now knew which path they had chosen. "You've each found your path. No matter how far apart we are, our bond is forever!"

"Yeah!"

Estelle stepped next to Yusei and took his hand and gave it a slight squeeze. "And when you come back to the city, I promise I'll have cards that I've created just for you ready."

"Gotcha!" Crow grinned widely with a thumbs up.

Jack hoped his cards were going to help his Signer Dragon become much stronger than what he was now. "I'll be waiting for them."

"I look forward to see how those cards will turn out", Sherry nodded.

"I might not be able to Duel much from now on, but I know I will cherish them", Aki said.

"Make mine super cool like my Morphtronics!" Leo grinned.

"And make mine cute like my Naturias, please", Luna giggled.

A growl erupting from everyone's stomach reminded them that they hadn't eaten breakfast yet. They decided to leave to get something to eat. Yusei and Estelle stayed put as their friends went to their Runners, waiting a couple of seconds to have a moment to themselves.

"Will you create cards for me too?" Yusei asked his girlfriend.

"Of course, Yusei", Estelle smiled leaned her head against his shoulder, feeling her eyes dropping due to lack of sleep. "I could never leave you out."

A chuckle rumbled from Yusei's throat. He hugged her shoulder for a brief moment before they followed their friends to fill their empty stomach with delicious food.
