Right now, the Trio was just sitting down, when there was a noise behind them. From nowhere, came a large red portal, and everyone got defensive.
Then, from the portal came two men that Yang instantly recongized.
"DAD! UNCLE QROW!" cheered Yang.
Yang was quick to put both into a giant bear hug.
"Yang!" said Tai, "It's good to see you. Where have you been young l-"
Tai stopped seeing the other teen close by. That hair, those silver eyes. It couldn't be, could it? Tai slowly walked up to Ruby, and cupped her cheek.
"Ruby?"
"... Daddy," cried Ruby.
The two then hugged tightly, and Tai asked, "Oh Ruby! I'm never letting you out of my sight ever again!"
"Hey kiddo!" said Qrow, "Don't I get some love?"
"Hi Uncle Qrow," said Ruby.
"Wait, how did you-"
From the portal, came a third figure, who looked like Yang, only with black hair.
Yang glared at her, and the woman said, "Yang. It's nice to see you."
"Raven," said Yang, unsympathetically.
"What?" asked Raven, "No, 'Wonderful to meet you mom?'"
"You lost all right to call me that," said Yang, "I know what you do for a living! You threw everything away, just for a dishonest life!"
"That so?"
"You may have given birth to me, but you're sure as hell NOT my mother. Summer Rose was, and always WILL be, my mom."
"Yang, I-"
Raven was cut off from a punch from Ruby.
"THAT WAS FOR DAD!" yelled Ruby, "AND THIS IS FOR YANG!"
"RUBY, STOP!" cried Qrow, holding her back, "She's not worth it!"
Ruby, looking spitefully at Raven, turned away, walking towards Toad.
"Well, I suppose you have questions," said Qrow, "but you're not the only ones. First off, when you didn't return to Beacon, we went looking for you. Raven was actually keeping tabs on you, and heard the news. So, she arrived at Tai's place, and brought me along."
Raven looked at Yang, and Yang said, "That changes nothing between us. As far as I'm concerned, you're dead to this family."
Raven looked at Yang, and actually felt hurt. Ruby, meanwhile, touched one of the flowers around them. Her dress changed, and her red parts became white, with red frills on it. She then summoned a Fire Ball, and shot it at the ground, lighting a camp fire.
"Woah," said Yang, "another power up?"
"Yeah, the Fire Flower," said Ruby, "I believe it's... pretty explanatory."
"Ruby, how did you end up here?" asked Tai.
"Well," said Ruby, "It was just after you left dad. I remember being put into the wagon, and slowly falling asleep. Then, I was jolted away from a bump, and woke up in the Mushroom Kingdom."
Flashback...
A very young Ruby looked around, and couldn't find Yang anywhere. She slowly hugged her legs, and started crying. Then, some Toads came out, and saw Ruby. Being the kind hearted people they are, they comforted Ruby. Ruby saw them, was a bit startled, but the Toads made sure to make her feel happy.
"The Toads found me, and took me in."
Ruby had caught a fish with a Yellow Toad.
"Raised me as one of their own."
Ruby, now dressed in a white athletic outfit, finished the obstacle course in a new record time.
"And when the time came, they made me, their Princess."
A blue Toad put Ruby's crown on her head, and the crowd cheered for Ruby. Ruby smiled, and looked at her subjects.
Present...
"A Princess?" asked Qrow, "Wow. You've really made it big kiddo."
"Your mother would be so proud of you Ruby," said Tai.
Ruby smiled.
"Do you think you would... want to come home? With us?" asked Yang.
"I... I don't know," said Ruby, "The Toads need me. And... they trust me. I swore to alway protect them."
"From Bowser?"
"Who's Bowser?" asked Tai.
"He's... not a nice guy," said Ruby.
Soon, everyone was having a lovely dinner, curtesy of Toad himself.
"Not bad for a Mushroom," said Qrow.
"Thanks Mister!" said Toad.
Raven had also gotten some food, but she was alone. She looked down, seeing the family eating. She then thought to her first Huntsman Mission in their first year at Beacon. Tai, Qrow, Summer. Raven looked at the memories with bittersweetness. She then looked at Yang laughing with Tai, and shed tears.
"I'm so sorry."
