Our story begins in the city of Miami, where our main character Derek Grim lives. He is a 17 year old, who is a massive fan of the Madagascar films. He spends a majority of his time writing self-insert Madagascar fan-fiction. He often doesn't speak to his family due to his extreme devoting to the Madagascar franchise. His love for the films have caused him to do some interesting things. He once burned down the headquarters of a billion-dollar energy company because the CEO said in an interview that he believes the Madagascar films are "good but not great". He also petitioned the government of the real life Madagascar to change the flag of the country to the poster of the first movie. Derek attends Academy Academy, a school that was founded in 1902 by a man named Historican Figureman. Derek does not have many friends at his school, due to his extreme devotion to Madagascar. He does have one friend, though. His name is Kevin Level. He hangs out with Derek because he is fascinated by his obsession with Madagascar. They often hang out on a pier at a beach near Fisher Island. Derek's life was pretty mundane, but it wouldn't be for much longer. Everything would change on one fateful night, but before I can tell you about that night, I must tell you about what happened before that.
