Author's Note: This chapter was inspired by the apparent reveal in the new Disney Original Movie Descendants: The Rise of Red, that Carlos DeVil passed away in the time between Descendants 3 (2019) and The Rise of Red. This is to reflect the fact that Carlos actor Cameron Boyce passed away in July of 2019.
While both Descendants 3 and The Rise of Red are not considered canon for 30 Worlds story purposes, I wanted to do this chapter to add my interpretation of this idea.

BOOK ONE*CHAPTER THREE
Ship's Log, Native Dimensional dating Stardate 58250.4, King William recording.
We are still on course for the location where our Starfleet Intelligence strike team guests will continue their investigation to clear Captain Freeman. Ship's status is green on all systems.
" King William, this is Koska," a voice called out on the comm. " We have a situation that requires your attention. Please report to Sickbay."
"On my way," William said.
William walked into Sickbay to the sound of loud crying. William saw a fabric-covered body on a nearby table and a woman crying over it.
"Doctor!" William said.
A pair of doors hissed open, revealing the Gansett 's chief physician, Katherine Pulaski. "Yes, Your Majesty?" Pulaski asked.
"What happened?" William asked, gesturing to the body and the woman grieving over it.
"Carlos DeVil died in his sleep last night," Pulaski said. "Epileptic seizure, from what my autopsy could determine."
The woman turned her face towards William. Jane's face was streaked with tears. "Your Majesty, what am I gonna tell the kids?" Jane said.
William and Jane hugged. "I'll tell them personally," William said. "King William to Bridge. Send a Priority-Omega message to the World of Descendants and route any reply to Gavan's Glory II ."
" Yes, Battle-Father," Koska said.
In the control room of Gavan's Glory II , William stood at the control panel as Koska appeared on the display screen he stood in front of.
" Battle-Father, I have Queen Mal and Fairy Godmother on the horn for you," Koska said.
"Put them through," William said.
Koska's image was replaced by Queen Mal of Auradon and Fairy Godmother, the headmistress of Auradon Prep.
" William, what happened? Ben told me that he received a Priority-Omega message from you," Mal said.
"Mal, Fairy Godmother, I don't know how to tell you this, but..." William began. He took a deep breath then said, "Carlos DeVil is dead."
Shocked expressions formed on Mal and Fairy Godmother's faces. " How did it happen?" Fairy Godmother asked.
"Apparently, Carlos had an epileptic seizure in his sleep last night," William said. "Dr. Pulaski conducted an autopsy and found that to be the cause of death. I have ordered his body prepared for transport back to the World of Descendants for burial."
M.A.J.E.L.'s voice came on in William's mind. " Grand Shield, Koska, Jane and Tory are standing outside with Carlos DeVil's casket," she said.
"Stand by, Mal," William said.
William stood from the console and made his way to the entry doors. They opened, revealing Koska, Tory, Jane and a black torpedo tube covered by the Cinnabarian flag. "King William, as Carlos DeVil's next-of-kin, I formally request that a burial-in-space be conducted for my husband," Jane said.
William gravely nodded. "King William to Bridge. Slow to full-stop. Inform our guests that there will be a slight delay to the specified coordinates," he said.
" Yes, Your Majesty," Ellie Steckler said from the Bridge.
Half an hour later, Carlos' torpedo tube coffin was propped up on the reception pad in Transporter Room 3.
William stood at a lectern set up in one corner of the room. The members of the King's Hand and Jane stood respectfully as William began to speak.
"We are gathered here today to say our farewells to Carlos DeVil, son of Cruella. He and his friends—Mal, Evie and Jay—helped an entire kingdom learn that it is nurture, rather than nature, that oftentimes helps determine what truly makes a human being," William said.
The doors hissed open, revealing Captain Bateson in full Starfleet dress uniform. "Sorry I interrupted," he said.
To the King's Hand and Jane, William replied, "I invited him. He knows who we really are." Returning his attention to the PADD on the lectern, William continued: "Carlos was a loving son, father and husband who brought joy to all who knew him. I ask his widow, Jane, to step forward and share a few words."
William took his PADD with him as he turned the lectern over to Jane. "I don't really feel like saying much, as I am still deep in mourning and wish to get back to doing so in private. So let me just say this: I will never forget Carlos as long as I live," Jane said. "I'll love you forever."
As Jane stepped away from the lectern, William gestured for Alien Metron Marlulu to activate the transporter. Carlos' torpedo tube coffin dissolved in the blue and silver energy of the Gansett 's transporter.
Out in space, the torpedo tube resolved and began its eternal journey through space's infinite darkness. The Gansett accelerated away from the site back into hyper-light drive. There was still a mission to attend to.
