Chapter One: Arriving At Camp Little Moose

"You guys quit messing around. We're here to pick up supplies. You know how excited Fred is about taking us to his camp." Daphne says as she and Alexis see Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo in the camp area of the store.

"Yeah. I think he's more excited than we are." Alexis says.

"I am so excited to take you guys to my old summer camp." Fred says as he comes over all geared up.

"Like you don't say." Shaggy says as he chuckles.

"You guys are gonna love being counselors at Camp Little Moose. And you Alexis are gonna love being a camper there. Did I ever tell you the time me and Davey Reynolds tried canoeing Schmidt's Creek without a paddle?" Fred asks excitedly.

"Yes." The group says in union.

"There we were 10 years old and not a paddle between us." Fred says as the group gets to walking.

*Timeskip*

"Sure do appreciate your business, kids. Say if you're heading up to Little Moose Lake you best get a move on." The store owner says as the group is walking out to the van with their supplies.

"Why isn that?" Alexis asks curiously.

"Those mountain roads can be mighty tricky come nightfall." The store owner says.

"Where are Shaggy and Scooby?" Daphne asks before Shaggy and Scooby-Doo come running out with a bunch of supplies and crash land in the back of the van.

"Are you two okay?" Alexis asks curiously.

"Don't worry about him. He landed on a cushion

of freeze-dried ice cream." Shaggy says Scooby-Doo opens a bag of ice cream and eats it.

"Mm. Rocky Road." Scooby-Doo says happily.

"Camp City Historical Museum. What's that?" Velma asks as she looks at the sign over camper.

"Oh just a little hobby of mine. There's a lot of history in this area. Myths, legends. Even a few ghost stories. You wanna hear one?" The store owner asks.

"Nope." Shaggy says fearfully.

"I'm good." Scooby-Doo says fearfully as he and Shaggy close the can doors.

*Timeskip*

"According to my GPS we should be able to see the camp right now." Velma says as the group is in the van on the way to the camp.

"Hey gang, check it out." Fred says as the group sees a fancy looking camp by a lake.

"Wow that place is beautiful." Daphne says.

"Definitely not what I was expecting. Looks pretty fancy for a camp." Alexis says.

"To be honest Fred I wasn't too excited about roughing it. But I think I'm going to like Camp Little Moose." Velma says.

"Oh that's not Camp Little Moose." Fred says.

"It's not?" Alexis asks curiously.

"That's Camp Big Moose. That's Camp Little Moose. Oh they've really fixed the place up." Fred says as the group arrives at the camp and sees how run down it is compared to the other camp.

"You've gotta be kidding me." Velma says.

"I've spent a zillion summers here as a camper but now I'm finally gonna be a counselor. It's my chance to pass on all our camp traditions to a new generation of Little Moose." Fred says excitedly.

"This place is a dump." Velma says.

"It's rustic." Daphne says as Alexis looks at her.

"Rustic isn't quite the word I'd use." Alexis says.

"Man I don't care what it looks like as long as it isn't haunted." Shaggy says as a man runs out in front of the van causing Fred to stop it.

"Stop. Turn back. This place is haunted." The man shouts in alarm.

"Hey what seems to be the problem?" Fred asks.

"He's real. Get out of here while you still can. I'm going to Camp Big Moose." The man says as he screams and runs off.

"What was that all about?" Velma asks.

"Beats me. But we're gonna find out." Fred says as he, Alexis, Daphne and Velma get out of the van.

"What part of get out and save yourselves didn't you understand? How about this one time we listen to the wild-eyed lunatic?" Shaggy asks.

"Come on you guys." Daphne says.

"Yeah. What's the worst that can happen?" Alexis asks.

"A lot Alexis. I can think of a lot of things." Shaggy says as he and Scooby-Doo reluctantly get out of the van.

"This is not a Camp Little Moose welcome." Fred says as he sees the words get out carved onto a sign.

"Where is everybody?" Velma asks.

"Yeah. This place almost seems deserted." Alexis says as the group walks towards the wooded area.

"Just a campfire story but he was here." A voice says from nearby.

"Do you hear that?" Daphne asks.

"Madder than a bear with a bee sting." The voice says.

"It's coming from down there." Fred says as the group begins following the sound of the voice.

"He was laughing when he threw his ax at me." The voice says as the group arrives to see camp counselor and a ranger looking at the remains of a burned up building.

"I think it'd be a good idea to cancel the second session of camp." The ranger says.

"Way ahead of you Ranger Knudsen. I've already notified all the parents. Camp Little Moose is officially closed for the summer." The counselor says.

"What? You can't cancel camp." Fred says in shock.

"Why I'd know that ascot anywhere. Freddy Jones. Get over here and give me a Little Moose welcome. Ah. The Little Moose welcome always warms my heart." The counselor says as he and Fred give a strange camp welcome to each other before hugging and laughing.

"What's this about canceling camp?" Velma asks curiously.

"And what happened to the boathouse?" Fred asks.

"I don't mean to scare you kids but we're having a little trouble with an ax-wielding maniac." The ranger says.

"It was the Woodsman." The counselor says.

"Oh no not the Woodsman." Shaggy says fearfully.

"Who's the Woodsman?" Scooby-Doo asks.

"Like I don't know and I don't wanna find out." Shaggy says.

"The Woodsman? Oh come on Burt you don't believe that old campfire story." Fred says in disbelief.

"Nah. I swear Fred. I saw him with my own eyes." Burt says as he points to his eyes.

"Ha. It's probably just a prank by those snobs at Camp Big Moose." Fred says.

"I've heard of camp rivalries but this is a little extreme." Velma says.

"You hit the nail on the head beautiful." The ranger says as he smiles at Velma.

"Oh I didn't say anything." Daphne says as she smiles.

"Well I wasn't talking to you." The ranger says as Daphne gives an annoyed look.

"Me?" Velma asks in surprise as the ranger winks at her before getting in his vehicle.

"It's best if you folks just head on home. Let the professionals handle this." The

ranger says before he leaves.

"Someone likes you." Alexis says as she smiles at Velma.

"Oh hush." Velma says annoyedly as Alexis chuckles.
