It was a rainy day as a woman drove for hours down the road towards a looking neighborhood. She pulled the van over to the curve in front of a three-story house with a tall metal gate with a pin lock. "Well. What do you think, Kyra?" Said the woman looking at the teen who just been staring at the window. The girl didnt say anything but grabbing her backpack and got out heading to the gate. "Kyra? Can we talk? Its been two weeks." Said the woman after following her outside with an umbrella. Kyra pulled out a piece of paper and punched in the code to unlock the gate. Buzz. Kyra walked to the door being opened by man who a grey streak on the top of his head. "Hi Uncle Joey." Said Kyra before passing him to get inside. "Hey Cece? Your room is on the top floor." Said Joey then faced the woman who closed the door. "Still mad, Katy?" Said Joey. "She didnt say anything to me for two weeks since me and Garrett split up." Said Katy. "It takes time. Anyways Cece will be starting her new school in two days. Plenty of time to have a look around the city and get everything settled." Said Joey. "Thanks for taking us in." Said Katy taking off her wet jacket. "Dont thank me. Im your brother. Im always there for you and Cece. We can unload the furniture in the morning. I got inflatable mattresses set up in your room and Cece." Said Joey before going to the kitchen. "You really thought of everything. Where's the bathroom? Im gonna go shower." Said Katy. "Upstairs to the left across your room." Said Joey making dinner he had ready on the stove. Katy nodded and went upstairs going down the hall seeing old family photos displayed.
She saw herself, Joey, and their parents smiling at the flea market and another of them surround Kyra when she was a day old at the hospital. But the last one at the end of the hall was a small shrine of a frame with a plaster of a babys feet and hands hanging on the wall. 'Bella Rose Hamatio. May she find Happiness with her mother.' It read at the bottom. Below the frame was a small table with flowers and candles with a bald woman sleep in the hospital bed with IVs around her. Katy smiled sadly at the memories she and Kyra barely had with them. Katy grabbed her clothes from the suitcase and went to the shower while Kyra went downstairs in her warm pjs going to the kitchen. "You two gonna talk or what?" Said Joey making a plate. "Im not at mom if that whats you both think. I feel dumb enough to think that Dad actually cared about us." Said Kyra. "Hes the idiot not you or your mom. That was his choice." Said Joey putting the second on the table. Kyra sat down after getting her cup of water and started eating.
"Have you gotten anything from him?" Said Joey after taking a sip of his drink. "Nothing but one call of him apologizing and wished to tale everything back." Said Kyra. "Liar." Said Joey. "Yeah no kidding." Said Kyra drinking her water. "If he calls again while im in the room. Give the phone to me." Said Joey. "And if he does if im alone then i ignore just like his gifts." Said Kyra biting into steamed broccoli. "Well in the meantime im gonna go bring in the van before anyone comes and steals it." Said Joey getting up and went to the garage. Kyra continued eating quietly until she was done and washed her plate before going upstairs to her room. She sat down on the inflatable mattress and picked up her laptop scrolling through any missed emails or messages. Finding one that she hasnt seen before and clicked it. 'Hello KC. Its been what ten years since we separated. I know we went on our own ways for different reasons but i found out some interesting news. Want to talk about it? - L' it read. Kyra narrowed her eyes for a moment before clicking the live message box seeing he wasnt on at the moment. 'Youre not dumb enough to think im a random girl who just opens up like a book. You need to tell me who i am talking to. Its been difficult to know who can i relay on.' Kyra typed and sent it as Katy came in. "I need some help on the shopping in the morning. Im going to find you some appropriate school clothes while you can get the grocery with your Uncle. Maybe afterwards we can head out to explore sounds fair?" Said Katy. "Yeah mom. Its fine." Said Kyra. Katy smiled before closing the door going to her room downstairs as Kyra's laptop lit up.
'Im an old friend of yours. I remember you were interested in crime stories, facts, and theories secretly when we both attended the same private school. If you want im coming to Japan and I'll give you a location of where we can meet face to face. Theres no tricks if you believe that any harm will come to you. - L.' It read. 'Fine. Tell me when just know i am my fathers daughter.' Kyra replied back. 'Im fully aware. I'll send the location when i arrive to your city. Good night KC. - L' it read. Kyra closed her laptop sitting on her small night table and turned off the light to lay down. She turned to the side facing the window looking out at the moon being covered by the clouds making her relax and let her eye lids grow heavy into a deep sleep. Meanwhile Joey parked the van in the driveway in front of the garage and brought the boxes inside leaving the furniture behind. He carried the last few boxes inside placing them down next to an old car that was covered and heard a car pulling over. "Mr. Hamatio. Would you like any help there?" Said a man wearing a suit and glasses. "No. Im just about done for now. Thank you, Mr. Yagami. Hows the kids?" Said Joey walking in the rain without a care. "Great as always. Just been busy with Kira as usual." Said Mr. Yagami. "Good luck with that. Stay safe." Said Joey leaving him after hearing Katy calling him inside. Have mom and i told you many times not to be walking into this type of weather like that?" Said Katy smacking him on the arm. "Plenty enough to know you two still love me including Kyra." Said Joey shutting the garage door after locking up the van.
