Gempa's POV
Please...just please. Just stop it. I just want us to be together again. Why? Why after that incident, you guys just won't stop fighting? We were once a happy family, but it was all shattered by a misunderstanding.
I miss the life that we had before, where we were always playing together, creating laughter together. My two brothers who were always by my side no matter what, but everything was gone. GONE!
After the accident that caused the death of our parents, that was the day you guys fell apart! You guys always fight! Always yelled at each other! Abang Taufan won't even call Abang Hali 'abang' anymore! I was heartbroken.
It's like you guys don't seem to care about me! Yes, you guys tried to cheer me up. But it was always me and Abang Hali or me and Abang Taufan but NEVER the three of us! You did give your love to me but what I wanted is our love together! To be together like we used to.
The misunderstanding, how stupid it was for Abang Hali to think the death of our parents was because of Abang Taufan but it was not! Abang Taufan was just a witness, he had nothing to do with the accident. But because of the big mouth of the annoying village that we live in, they accused Taufan of being the culprit and Abang Hali fell for it!
Every day, every night, they always fight, all because of this! I locked myself hoping to find peace but it's not helping! I cried. I bawled. I just want this to end!
Until one day, everything just went quiet, really quiet. No fighting. No yelling. Everything became calm after finding the evidence of Taufan's innocence. It's kind of a relief but at the same I know they still haven't changed. They just avoid each other, not even trying to look at each other's faces. I don't know why they won't apologise until I ask Abang Taufan.
"I just don't want to get hurt again."
I was disappointed. The opportunity for them to make peace now was hopeless. They don't even want to try. Abang Taufan saw my downed face, he knew I was just as affected as him by these broken bonds. He hugged me and promised that he would try to talk to Abang Hali.

Normal POV
"Hali, can we talk?" asked Taufan as he saw Halilintar come out of his room. There was no response but he stood still facing away from him.
"I can't do this anymore, Hali. I'm tired of all the constant fighting. You finally know the truth but why are you still avoiding me?" continued Taufan.
Still, there was no reply.
"I'm sorry for how I treated you. I was so mad that you chose to believe others rather than your brother. If you still want to treat me like this then it's up to you. Just remember, our little Gemgem is suffering because of us."
With that, Taufan turned around and left but stopped when he heard Halilintar murmuring.
"Huh?" confused Taufan. Did he hear something?
Halilintar murmured again but with a louder voice, "I'm s-sorry too, Taufan."
"I'm sorry for treating you like a criminal. I was foolish to believe them. I do want to make up for you and Gempa," continued Halilintar with his face now filled with tears.
Taufan was so relieved that things worked out in the end but something inside him felt that it wouldn't take too long that something bad was about to happen.
His hunch was true and it was because they still won't get along properly.
A week after the apology, finally the three of them were spending their time together, walking around the neighbourhoods. But it was unsettling because they were fighting again. And out of place, they were fighting in the middle of the street.
Taufan was just trying to lighten the mood and make fun of Halilintar but, Halilintar didn't enjoy it one bit. Shouldn't he be used to Taufan's mischief?
It's all because of their recent fight that made Halilintar like that. He hated his brother's annoyance back when the misunderstanding happened and he carried that hatred until now. This surely had offended Taufan. Taufan was unfortunately shouting again, upset that Halilintar hadn't changed his attitude towards him. His brother was a total wreck and so was him. He was practically crying. He wasn't usually breakable or easily shown his sadness towards anyone, but apparently, he also had changed.
Meanwhile, Gempa was standing behind them on the walking pavement, feeling so heartbroken that they were fighting again. He thought they made up but it was just a lie. He should have known that he shouldn't hope so much for instance change. He was begging, hoping they would stop but they didn't.
Suddenly, a catastrophe happened. Gempa saw a car somehow on an illegal high speed coming head towards his brothers. He yelled to his brothers to get out of the way but they didn't listen. With time running out, his instinct caused him to push his brothers, letting himself be hit by the car.
Suddenly, everything came to a standstill.
The sound of the peaceful neighbourhood was replaced with a ringing sensation. After the shocking push, they wondered what was happening until they saw it.
He was there, looking so lifelessly on the street with blood splattered all over the place. They froze. This couldn't be happening, they thought. It must be some kind of a joke. They must be hallucinating, right? But no. It was all real. Their little brother took the pain and it was because of them.
They panicked. They rushed towards their little brother with Taufan lifting to his arms. They bawled. They begged their little brother to open his eyes.
This shouldn't happen, they thought. If it wasn't for them who won't stop arguing, their little brother won't be like this. They had promised to never fight again. They had promised they would make up for Gempa, but they knew they completely blew it.
All they can do is cry with their tears splashing onto their little brother's pale face. They blamed themselves for all of this.
Suddenly, a faint touch was felt on the blue-theme brother's cheeks, startling him. He opened his eyes and saw his little brother had woken. A gasp came out from his mouth, causing his older brother to open his eyes. They were relieved that their little brother was still alive but for how long?
"W-we're so sorry, Gempa! We're sorry for making you like this! You just want us to be together again. Like how we used to be but it was all ruined because of us! Now, you couldn't and you're leaving us!" cried Taufan.
Halilintar stroked his little brother's hair, hoping Gempa could feel the warmth that might be the last time for him. "Just hold on, Gempa. We'll get you to the hospital right away. J-just h-hold o-on. Hisk!"
Gempa just gave them a pity look, knowing he had little time. He lightly shook his head. "It's okay you guys. You guys don't have to. I'm just happy that I can see you for the last time. I'm glad that you guys tried your best for me and I'm grateful for that. I want you guys to promise me and I hope you will fulfil it. Please, love each other for me. I want you guys to be together again like before. So please, do it for me."
They quickly nodded, promising to fulfil it. Gempa knew they would do it. He knew after this they would be together again. It was enough for him to plaster a small smile on his face.
However, that smile didn't hold long as his vision blurred. He knew it was time to go.
"I guess it's goodbye now. Take care you two. Don't forget about me. I love you, my dear abang(s)."
Both brothers panicked. He was going to leave them. They shouted, begging him not to go but their voice couldn't make their little brother live. A new set of fresh tears came flowing again.
They wailed, their little brother had now passed away.

The tragic afternoon was now turned to evening, and the story shifted to a hospital in a quiet waiting area outside of the ICU room. The brothers were there, sitting on the floor side by side waiting for the doctor to meet them. They don't know why they were there. After the ambulance came and carried their little brother to the hospital, they didn't think they had to wait for a doctor because they thought their little brother had already died.
Could it be, he was? But they were unsure.
They were crying, hardly any words they had spoken since that tragedy. They didn't know what to do now. First, they lost their parents, now their little brother. It was like everyone wanted to leave them.
However, they still had each other. Halilintar was the first who stop crying. He composed himself before he decided to face Taufan, his now-only brother.
"I'm so sorry, Taufan. This is all my fault. This could never have happened if I hadn't been so annoyed with your attitude. I should have gotten used to your attitude like how I did when we were young but I didn't! We were fighting over mindless things for goodness sake!"
"Stop blaming yourself, Hali. It's not only your fault. I'm also at fault here. If I didn't try to upset you, we wouldn't even fight that time. I should have noticed how much change you've got because of that misunderstanding. I should've gone easy on you," said Taufan, also blaming himself.
"You also changed, ya know? You were easily offended."
"Well, excuse me why I was offended. Because all this time you're always hurting me!"
Halilintar went speechless. Taufan was yelling at him again. Taufan quickly faced away, feeling foolish that he got mad again.
"S-sorry. I didn't mean it. R-really, I d-didn't mean it." He began to cry again. Was it the time for them to talk about the past? No, and it was pathetic to bring it up.
Halilintar felt guilty for upsetting him. He slowly crawled beside him and hugged him.
"I'm sorry for bringing that up too, Taufan. Let's just forget about the past and start a new life, okay?"
Taufan didn't reply as he was busy letting all his emotions out but Halilintar knew that his little brother was on the same page.
After a while, they finally calm down. They looked at each other again, slowly remembering why they were there. The little brother asked, "What do you think the doctor wants to see us?"
"I'm not sure. Could it be that Gempa is still alive?" replied Halilintar.
"But, we saw him die. Are you sure?" asked Taufan again with a hint of doubt.
Suddenly, the door of the ICU flew open and a woman in a white coat appeared. She looked around, searching for the two teens she had asked to call. Taufan noticed the woman, hence, he patted his brother's arm, signalling to him that the doctor had come out.
The teens came forward to the woman asking why she called them. The woman gave them a warm smile, sensing that she was relieved about something.
"Great news. Your brother survived."
DENG! The news shocked them. So, Halilintar's prediction was correct. Their little brother was still alive! Again, cries filled the quiet atmosphere but this time were tears of joy. God had given them a second chance to make things right. They couldn't wait to see him but unfortunately, they had to wait for a few weeks for them to enter the room.
Even though they couldn't meet their little brother yet, they took the time to make up for each other and spend time together. It was kind of a miracle that they didn't make problems. No arguing. No hurting each other's feelings. They were finally on good terms.
It was the day they could see their little brother. They were now in Gempa's room waiting patiently for any movement. They were sitting on a thin mattress that they brought, leaning on each other's backs. Halilintar was reading a novel while Taufan was scrolling something on his phone.
Suddenly, they heard something. A light groan came from the little brother. They turned their heads and they saw their brother's eyes slowly fluttering open. They quickly rushed towards him, almost falling due to bumping into each other.
They looked at him with joyful tears in their eyes, feeling so glad that they could still be together after all this time.
"Gempa! You're awake! We thought we lost you when you said goodbye to us! Don't scare us like that!" relieved Taufan. However, Gempa didn't respond. Something was different about him as he was only given them with a blank stare.
Halilintar noticed this and asked, "Gempa? Are you okay?"
"Sorry, but who are you two?" A sentence that they didn't expect to hear came out of his mouth. They stood frozen. They couldn't believe what they just heard. Their little brother lost his memories.
"Y-you don't remember us?" shuttered Halilintar and a clarification was made as Gempa nodded. Halilintar's face turned pale, shocked by the sudden news. He covered his face as guilt took over himself. Gempa just went through so much pain, almost losing his life and now he lost his memories. Why won't he get a break from all of this?
Gempa, who saw Halilintar's response, panicked, "Eh?! Why are you crying?! Did I say something wrong?!"
Why did the red-theme teen cry when he asked that question?
He now faced the blue-theme teen, pleading for an answer. Taufan noticed the stare and he began to soothe his older brother. Like Halilintar, he was also in the same situation but he knew he couldn't act like that in front of Gempa who was not in his usual self.
He took a deep breath, gave him a reassuring smile and replied, "You didn't say anything wrong, Gempa."
"Gempa. Is that my name?" questioned the little brother.
A pain just stabbed inside of him. His guilt was getting bigger because his little brother also didn't even remember about himself. Still, he couldn't let him know how he was feeling.
He still forced himself to give that smile.
"Uh-huh. My name's Taufan. This is Halilintar," introduced Taufan as he grabbed Halilintar's hand, allowing him to snap out of his misery.
He followed by grabbing Gempa's hand and continued, "And you are our little brother, Gempa."
The word 'brother' intrigues the little brother. He didn't know why but he suddenly felt so warm when he saw them. It's like he misses this love that he was so longing to have.
He couldn't help but smile. Suddenly, he spoke something that perks the two brothers.
"Abang!"
And it's enough for them to calm down. They hugged him, embracing the warmth that they had once gone.
Memories or no memories, they are just happy they can be together again.

Two weeks passed and the little brother was finally discharged. On that night, they were celebrating the recovery of the little brother, which was Taufan's idea. At first, Gempa didn't want them to celebrate it because he didn't want to burden them, but being diagnosed with amnesia, he didn't want to upset them.
As we all know Gempa doesn't like to burden people, it is surprising that his personality didn't change when he was in this state. Well, except for cooking because he had completely forgotten how to cook and had to replace Halilintar to do it. But it wasn't a big deal for Halilintar. Besides, Taufan can cook too but mostly on the sweeter sides. Then again, Halilintar ain't much complaining.
After the celebration, the little brother decided to tuck in for the night, leaving his older brothers in the living room. He was still in recovery, so it makes sense why he wanted to rest early.
Back to the older brothers. They were quietly watching a drama that was not a favourite of any of them. They chose that channel because that was the only thing that took their interest. However, they didn't even watch it because they were deep inside their thoughts, still processing the incident that happened to their little brother.
After a solid 30 minutes, Halilintar breaks the silence, "I feel like a horrible brother, Taufan." He hugged his knees, feeling of wanting to cry again.
"You can say that again, Abang. We're both horrible brothers," replied Taufan instantly, not taking his eyes off the television.
"But I'm sure there's a reason why Gempa has to lose his memories. Maybe this is our punishment for what he had done to him and this is a way for us to repent."
Halilintar looked at his brother. Maybe what his little brother said was right. No way just saying sorry and forgiving will solve everything. There must be consequences for what they did.
"You're right, Taufan. Thanks for the encouragement."
He smiled, glad that he had someone to share his pain with. If not, his mind will surely be filled with so much grief and end up being depressed. Sometimes, Taufan can act more maturely than him in terms of emotions, while he just lets it all out. Maybe because Taufan got used to bottling up his emotions and always thinking before he acted. A reason why he can give a fake smile.
Taufan eventually turned his head towards him, giving him a sad smile. He replied, "You're welcome, Abang. I also need your encouragement, ya know? Who knows how long I can keep supporting you."
"Of course, Taufan. Of course."
The night ends with them discussing how they will spend their time tomorrow and find a way so they don't accidentally trigger Gempa's memories. Even though they wanted him to remember, their main priority was his mental health.

Their life continued for two years and the three brothers lived happily. It's like the whole incident never happened before. It's all because they had each other. In addition, the older brothers had fulfilled their little brother's request that they had promised before Gempa fainted. They would never stop giving their love to each other and Gempa.
From Gempa's point of view. Initially, he was awkward spending time with them because he didn't know them, hence, he wanted to be alone. But something inside him feels he shouldn't act that way because he remembers when he woke up in the hospital and saw them, he felt so warm around them. Now, with their help, he was used to and glad to be with them and creating new memories.
Speaking of memories, Halilintar and Taufan didn't mind anymore that Gempa still had amnesia because they already accepted the truth.
However, it would still be great for him to remember. But at the same time, it wouldn't be a good idea because they don't want him to remember their dark past.
But what would happen if a similar incident happened?
It started when Halilintar noticed a sudden change in Taufan in the past few days. Taufan will always sleep in early or locked inside his room, hence, he doesn't with his brothers anymore. Every time they asked him why, he said he was busy or tired because of school. However, his face said otherwise. His face shows that he wanted to avoid them, especially Halilintar.
The older brother wondered why Taufan acted like that. Feeling a sense of deja vu, he remembers how he did the same towards Taufan. Seeing his little brother doing the same thing, he was worried that Taufan would make the same mistake as him.
Meanwhile, Gempa didn't feel good about the gloomy situation. He would often feel weak and lightheaded. He felt like this matter had happened before. Seeing Gempa in such a condition, Halilintar was worried. He often asked him if he was all right but Gempa said there was nothing to worry about and he was just feeling under the weather.
However, Halilintar knew that wasn't true. He knew Gempa's pain happened because of Taufan's action. He needs to solve this mess for the sake of his family.

It was in the middle of the night and Halilintar just came out from the toilet. Passing through the kitchen, he noticed Taufan was there. He was facing the kitchen counter, pouring a glass of water.
Halilintar stares at Taufan's back, sensing a hit of sadness emitting from him. He wanted to confront him but was hesitant. However, remembering how serious this problem is, he wouldn't want to postpone it any longer.
"T-Taufan. Is there something wrong?" asked Halilintar gently. His little brother flinched. He didn't expect someone to be behind him. However, he didn't reply.
Halilintar asked again, "I know you're trying to ignore me. Did I do something wrong?"
What Halilintar saw was something he didn't expect. Taufan was shaking. It's like he didn't feel comfortable with the question.
He murmured something but it wasn't an answer, "Y-you c-can see for yourself on social media."
Halilintar was puzzled as to why he had to open his social account, but he followed. It took some time for him to scroll down because he's not the type to be always active on social platforms.
After some time, he finally came across an unusual picture. A picture shows a figure that almost resembles him, doing something unexpected. The figure was in a dark alley with someone as they exchanged something. Halilintar was stunned. So, this was the reason why Taufan was avoiding him.
"You can't be serious, Taufan. Do you actually believe I would do this?" said Halilintar, in disbelief.
But there was only silence from Taufan. Halilintar looked at his brother again. Taufan's body began to shake more and Halilintar could hear him holding his tears.
"I-I d-don't know anymore," whispered Taufan as he now couldn't contain his tears.
When Taufan first saw that picture, he tried not to believe it and brushed it off, hoping it was just some kind of a prank. But the more he looks at the picture the more he becomes uncertain. He tried so hard not to become like his brother when his brother immediately accused him, but the evidence looked so real.
Seeing how difficult it is for Taufan to answer his question, Halilintar knows he has to help Taufan believe him because only Taufan can solve this.
"Listen to me, Taufan. I swear. It wasn't me in that picture. I know you can believe me. All you can do is trust me. Don't make the same mistake as I did where I believe others instead of you."
Again, no answer from Taufan.
"Please, Taufan. We promised Gempa that we would always be together. Don't end up regretting it. What are we going to do if Gempa knows this? He will experience the same thing all over again."
But Taufan won't answer him at all. Realising that Halilintar couldn't knock his brother to his senses, he decided to step back and leave. But before he could leave, they heard something.
"A-abang Hali? A-abang T-Taufan?"
The voice immediately startled them and quickly faced the source of the voice, Gempa. Gempa was in the living room, witnessing everything.
They shuttered, "G-Gempa…"
"A-are you guys f-fighting?"
They froze, panicked about how they would explain the situation to him. But they didn't have to because it was already obvious. Gempa's tears began to fall, feeling so much pain in his heart. Then, followed by a throbbing headache. He clutched his head, trying to endure the pain. His breath became unstable. His vision began to blur until suddenly everything became dark.
"GEMPA!" exclaimed them as they now rushed towards the fallen brother.

Gempa's Room,
It had been 40 minutes since the little brother fainted and both brothers were inside the room, worried about his condition.
During that time, Taufan was sitting on the floor, leaning his back against the wall. He was crying non-stop. He blames himself for causing Gempa to be in such a condition.
"Huwaah! This is all my fault! If I didn't doubt what I saw, Gempa wouldn't be like this! I was stupid for almost believing it! I was so stupid!" cried Taufan, covering his face with his hands.
Halilintar, who had been sitting at the end of bed, looked at his brother with pity. He knew exactly how Taufan felt for not trusting his own family. He eventually went near him and sat beside him.
He stroked his little brother's back and comforted him, "Don't blame yourself, Taufan. If I were you, I would also do that same thing. Everyone makes mistakes and all we can do is learn from it."
Taufan raised his head towards his brother, feeling guilty for not believing him.
"I'm so sorry, Abang. I promise that I will always trust you."
"And I promise that I will always trust you too, Taufan."
Eventually, they hugged and as the night passed, they both slept side by side, hoping their little brother would be okay in the morning.
.
.
.
.
.
It was now morning and a movement was seen from the owner of the room.
A small moan was heard as he opened his eyes, feeling a slight pain in his head. He slowly got up, hoping it would ease the pain. As the pain settled, he heard a light snore coming from beside him. He turned around and saw his brothers were sitting on the floor, sleeping.
They looked so peaceful he thought, until he remembered what happened last night. They were fighting before this but seeing them now. He was sure everything turned out fine. He couldn't help but smile.
He softly called his brothers. After a few calls, the second brother was the first to react. He stretched out his body, feeling sore from sleeping on the floor. When he finally opened his eyes and saw Gempa had woken up, he immediately gasped, causing the oldest brother to instantly wake up.
Taufan quickly rushed to his little brother and deeply apologised, "Gempa! You're awake! I'm so sorry that I made you fainted. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to fight with him! I never wanted to fight. It's just that something happened making me try to avoid you guys. But I did that because I didn't want to make things worse! I'm really sorry, Gempa. But don't worry, we already make up now. So, I hope you will forgive us."
Gempa, who was listening carefully, just smiled at them. A smile that the brothers felt so familiar. It was a smile they had not seen for a long time which was the exact smile Gempa had before he lost his memories. That smile was also filled with so much gratitude and happiness. The happiness he had been waiting for so long.
They felt suspicious. Could it be? Their thoughts were immediately answered when Gempa said, "I forgive you, Abang. I will always forgive you guys no matter how many mistakes you guys make."
"Because I love my abang(s)."
Both brothers went speechless. Is it really true?
"Y-you get your memories back, didn't you?" asked Halilintar, hoping to clarify his thoughts.
Gempa nodded.
Tears of happiness immediately washed their faces. So it was true. Their little brother had regained his memories. They couldn't believe it was happening. They gave Gempa a big hug.
"Huwaah! You're back! You're back to your old self again! Don't you have any idea how long we waited so much for you to remember us?! You're cruel, Gempa! You're so cruel!" cried Taufan.
"I'm sorry for making you guys wait so long, but now I'm back. Also, I'm grateful that you guys are still together even when I lost my memories."
"Of course, Gempa. With memories or not, you are still our little brother," said Halilintar.
"And I couldn't be happier to be your little brother," thanked Gempa.
THE END
That's concluded with the story. Thank you for reading this until the end. I hope you can feel the love. For some reason, it's really hard for me to write this. Maybe because it's been a while since I haven't written in English.
Sorry about the part where you guys thought that Gempa died at first but he was not. Sound doesn't make sense, huh?
Again, please care about my content instead of my horrible grammar and vocabulary.
Anyway, see you when I can. Maybe chapter 6 of The Inner Him? I don't want to promise anything.
