Hermione felt a surge of disbelief at Ron's sudden appearance. For a moment, she could hardly believe her eyes. "Ron?" she whispered, her voice filled with shock.
Ron's expression lighting up with relief and joy as he saw Hermione. "Hermione! I found you!" he exclaimed, rushing towards her.
"Not now, Ron! We have to save Harry!" she cried, there was no time for reunions, her voice trembled with desperation.
Ron's eyes widened as he took in the scene, realizing the gravity of the situation. Without a moment's hesitation, he turned towards the frozen pond where Harry was struggling beneath the ice. Understanding the danger, he dove into the freezing water, risking his own safety to rescue his friend.
The cold water was a shock to Ron's system, but he pushed through, his determination driving him forward. He swam towards Harry, his movements strong and purposeful. As he reached Harry, he could see the dark tendrils of the Horcrux still wrapped around his neck, tightening with every passing second.
Ron grabbed Harry, pulling him close and using all his strength to break the Horcrux's grip. The malevolent energy resisted, but Ron's determination was unwavering. He fought against the dark magic, his mind focused solely on saving Harry.
Above the surface, Hermione watched with bated breath, her heart pounding with fear and hope. She could see the struggle beneath the ice, the dark tendrils slowly loosening as Ron fought to free Harry.
With a final, desperate effort, Ron managed to break the Horcrux's hold. The dark tendrils released Harry, and Ron pulled him towards the surface. They broke through the ice, gasping for air as they emerged from the freezing water.
Hermione rushed to their side, her hands shaking with relief as she helped them out of the pond. "Harry, Ron, are you okay?" she asked, her voice choked with emotion.
Harry nodded weakly, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "I'm okay… thanks to you both."
As they made their way back to the tent, Hermione quickly pulled out her wand. "Hold still," she instructed, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. She performed drying and warming charms on both Harry and Ron, the magic enveloping them in a comforting warmth.
"Thank you, Hermione," Harry said, his voice still shaky.
Ron nodded in agreement, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Yeah, Hermione. You saved us both."
Hermione's heart swelled with relief and gratitude, but as she looked at Harry, the guilt returned. She had a sudden, overwhelming desire to hug him, to make sure he was truly alright. But she couldn't do that to Ron. Not after everything that had happened.
She forced herself to focus on the task at hand, her hands trembling slightly as she continued to cast the warming charms. "I'm just glad you're both safe," she said softly, her eyes flickering between Harry and Ron.
Harry gave her a small, reassuring smile. "We'll be okay, Hermione. Thanks to you."
Ron, still shivering slightly, looked at her with a mixture of admiration and concern. "You're amazing, Hermione. I don't know what we'd do without you."
Hermione felt a pang of guilt and confusion, but she pushed it aside. They had more important things to worry about. "Let's get you both inside and warm," she said, her voice gentle but firm.
As they settled into the tent, the warmth from Hermione's charms slowly bringing life back into their cold limbs, Harry and Hermione exchanged a look of profound gratitude. They turned to Ron, their expressions filled with relief and appreciation.
"Ron, we can't thank you enough," Harry said, his voice still shaky but sincere. "You saved my life."
Hermione nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "We're so grateful you found us. How did you manage to escape Grimmauld Place after it was breached by Death Eaters?"
Ron took a deep breath, his expression growing serious as he recalled the events. "After the Death Eaters blasted their way in, everything was chaos. Anyway, after I went back to help fight them off, I got caught up in a duel with some random Death Eater. It was intense—spells flying everywhere, half the place got blown to pieces."
He paused, his eyes reflecting the turmoil of that night. "After they realized you two had got away, the Death Eaters started to retreat. The Order scattered to avoid capture. I managed to slip away in the confusion, but it wasn't easy. I've been trying to find you ever since."
Harry and Hermione listened intently, their hearts heavy with the weight of Ron's words. They could only imagine the danger and chaos he had faced.
"Ron, we're so sorry you had to go through that," Hermione said softly, her voice filled with empathy. "We were so worried about you."
Ron gave a small, reassuring smile. "I'm just glad I found you both."
Harry and Hermione shared a brief, guilty look that Ron didn't notice. The weight of their secret hung between them, but they pushed it aside for now. There were more pressing matters to discuss.
"How did you manage to find us, Ron?" Harry asked, his curiosity piqued.
Ron reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, familiar device. "It was this," he said, holding up the Deluminator. "I didn't know what it did at first, but then I realized it could help me find you."
Hermione's eyes widened in recognition. "The Deluminator… How did it work?"
Ron smiled, a hint of pride in his voice. "When I clicked it, it didn't just put out lights. It also led me to you. I could hear your voices, like a beacon, guiding me to where you were. That's how I found you tonight."
Harry and Hermione exchanged a look of amazement. "That's incredible, Ron," Harry said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Dumbledore must have known you'd need it."
Ron nodded, his expression serious. "Yeah, he did. And I'm glad he did. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found you."
Hermione's eyes softened as she looked at Ron. "We're so grateful you're here, Ron.
As Harry shifted in his seat, something fell from his pocket and clattered to the ground. Ron's eyes widened as he saw the broken pieces of Harry's wand.
"Blimey, Harry, what happened?" Ron exclaimed, picking up the pieces and examining them with a mix of shock and concern.
Harry sighed, his expression darkening. "We went to Godric's Hollow," he began, glancing at Hermione. "We thought we might find some clues there. We met Bathilda Bagshot, but she was… she was possessed by Nagini."
Hermione nodded, her face pale as she recalled the encounter. "It was terrifying. She led us into a trap. Just as we were trying to escape, the Dark Lord appeared."
Ron's eyes widened further. "You saw him?"
Harry nodded grimly. "Yeah. We barely got away. In the chaos, my wand got broken. I didn't even realize until we were safe."
Hermione's eyes filled with tears. "I'm so sorry, Harry. If I hadn't suggested going there…"
Harry shook his head firmly. "It's not your fault, Hermione. We had to try. And we did get away, thanks to you."
Ron looked between them, his expression softening. "Well, it's lucky I brought this then," he said, reaching into his bag. He pulled out a wand and handed it to Harry. "I nicked it off some Death Eater I ran into while trying to find you."
Harry took the wand, a look of relief washing over his face. "Thanks, Ron. This means a lot."
Ron shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. "Just glad I could help."
Hermione watched the exchange, her heart swelling with gratitude for her friends. Despite everything, they were still together, still fighting. And that gave her hope.
