Chapter 68 The New Threat (Fight to the Finish)
A.N. – Xana's death has arrived and a blast from the past also arrives as well. Let's begin!
Short Summary – A is determined to deliver one her most heartbreaking moments to her current self. Xana, on the other hand, is determined to prevent his destruction. To do this, he brings a memory from A's past to life.

Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was in the celestial dome with the interface open. Her father was in trouble, getting shot by two mantas.
"Daddy, no! Energy field!" Aelita says as she fires and misses. Her father then suddenly explodes. "No!"
Aelita shoots up from her nightmare. Little did she know this was the same nightmare A was suffering from in the future. And it was this event is what she came back to prevent. She headed to the shower to prepare for the day.
A's Point of View
A was working on her laptop, and Jeremy on his PC. The two were cross referencing multi-agent programs to make an effective program that Xana wouldn't come back from.
"I find quite impressive that I designed both of these programs. I'm sure that Xana won't win this time" Jeremy says as he adds data to the already existing program.
"I just hope all these additions don't bug the program. We're only gonna have one chance to do this" A says.
"Yeah, you know the moment Xana can try to ruin everything, he'll definitely do it."
Aelita opens the door to see the both of them, hard at work.
"How come you're not asleep at this hour?" He looks over his shoulder to her.
"Because it's time to get up" she stares at him in confusion.
"Oh wow," he murmurs to himself. "Time sure does fly." He didn't even know it was morning.
"Really Jeremy? You didn't notice the darkness fade away and light come pouring in?" A asks.
"When you're fighting Xana, you don't know day from night."
"No, it's being stuck on Lyoko, you don't know day from night. Especially where I was, it was always night."
"The volcano replica, right?" Aelita asks.
"Yeah, I was always there. Definitely a time I won't miss."
"But seriously Jeremy, are you ever gonna sleep?" Aelita asks.
"No time. With the data we collected and A's version of the multi-agent program from her past, we've almost finished an effective program to wipe out Xana for good" Jeremy replies.
"Already?"
"Yeah, we'll be able to attack replicas simultaneously!"
"And you're ready to die of exhaustion for that?" She raises a brow at him.
"Me and A both are."
"Breakfast time…" She leaves, leaving A and Jeremy to their work.
"Are you always like this?"
"Explain like this?" A asks.
"I don't know. Like how Aelita just acted."
"Seriously Jeremy, the only reason I acted like that was because of you."
"So, I'm the issue?"
"No, but you definitely contributed to it."
Jeremy was putting the finishing touches on the program when a chat window with Franz opens. "A, come here!"
She walks over. "Dad? What's he saying?"
"He wants a rendezvous on Lyoko."
"Is he crazy?! Xana is madder than hell now after the blow I just dealt him. He'll take it out and anyone, especially his archrival, my father."
"Then we haven't got tie to lose." He gets up and dials Aelita. "Aelita, a message from your father popped up. He wants to meet us on Lyoko." He pauses. "I know, but it came when we finished the program. That's no coincidence." He pauses. "Better hurry."
The two rush to the passage in the park. The two descend into the sewer and make their way to the factory. They arrive at the lab to find none of them there. "Where are they?" Jeremy asks.
"I know. I'll be back" A says as she heads back to the academy. She heads up park and over to the gym. She sees the others getting harassed by Sissi. "Elizabeth, you're father wants to see you."
"What? Who are you?" She asks.
"Someone new your father hired. Now I suggest you go see your father now before he does something you won't like."
She walks away defeated. "Think she'll buy it?" Odd asks.
"It'll give us enough time to slip away to the factory. Let's go!" Ulrich says as they rush off.
Eventually, all of them return to the lab.
"I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever get here" Jeremy says.
"We had to get Sissi superglue off our tails. Luckily A came there to help us out" Odd replies.
"It's nice to have knowledge of the past" A adds.
"I was thinking, maybe you should sit this one out A" Jeremy says.
"Why? Still don't trust me. I don't blame you. All of you were against William when he returned."
"Oh, so all your feelings are targeted towards A now huh?"
"It's not like that" Yumi says.
"We just think-" Odd adds.
"With Xana wanting her dead, she wouldn't be much use on Lyoko" Ulrich finishes.
"Do what you do. With this" she flashes her Lyoko band. "I choose my own fate."
"I guess she's going whether we want to or not. Get to the scanners.'
All of the warriors landed in the ice sector. "Seriously A? You could've changed" Ulrich comments.
"I choose this avatar before everything transpired" A replies.
"Speaking of you never told us why you choose a fallen angel type" Yumi asks.
"That's a tale for another time" A says, knowing that the truth for her avatar will happen today. They all headed off towards Franz's location.
"We're here Jeremy" Ulrich informs him.
"I'm picking up intense activity on the other side of the waterfall" Jeremy tells them.
"What are we waiting for. Let's go" Odd says as he steps forward but is stopped by A.
"Maybe only Aelita and I should go. We are his one and only daughter you know" A tells him.
"I understand. Family matter."
The two Aelita's go in the cavern behind the waterfall. Aelita looks at her father. A also looks and she could feel him staring back. He knew this day was coming. And also A now needed to make it happen.
"Guys, big problem. Xana's activated a tower. Looks like he's sending us the robots from Siberia, but they look different" Jeremy informs them.
"Hold on. I'm coming back" A tells him. "I'll be back soon. I need to figure out what's going on."
A opens her Lyoko door and reappears in the factory. She walks up to the supercomputer. "Look at this." Jeremy opens a video feed.
"Those aren't the Siberian robots. Zoom in on it." The picture zoomed in but showed no signs of Xana corruption. "Uh no."
"What?"
"Remember that extinction event that I mentioned a while back that I thought I prevented."
"Yeah, right after Xana got the keys."
"Well, looks like Xana knows of it now. Let me introduce the new AI."
"A new threat? Wonderful."
"That's the least of your worries. Somehow, Xana managed to use my technological advances to bring these machines from my destructive future to this time."
"I thought you said you prevented that."
"Prevented the event that caused it. Apparently it still exists because the event that will cause it still exists. "
"Xana?"
"No, my father."
"How do we stop these things?"
"Don't know. Never faced this thing. I was only in the time for a very short time. The next jump I made was back to the past after Xana was reawakened. The first day you met me."
"Guys, we got issues. One of you needs to come back now!"
"I'm heading back to Lyoko."
"Why?"
"Trust me Jeremy. This needs to be done."
A opens her Lyoko door and reenters.
Aelita's Point of View
"Aelita, keep your eye on A. She just told me some unsettling information that I'll tell you later" Jeremy informs her, hoping A doesn't do the unthinkable.
"Ok Jeremy. I'll keep my eye on her."
A's Point of View
A reappears in the cavern as it shakes. "Oh, and one more thing. Your friend the Kolossus is here."
"Daddy let's go! We can't stay here!" Aelita pleads and here, A, and their father run out of the cavern as the Kolossus wrecks the sector. A few flying mantas also have arrived to keep the warriors busy. "Where's Yumi?"
"She sacrificed herself to go and figure out the robot situation. Right now, we got a super-sized monster to deal with" Odd tells them.
"I can take him down" Ulrich tells them as he prepares to run up as A stops him.
"No, let William do it. He needs to settle the score this time" A tells him.
They look towards William. "I'm coming for you Xana. Super smoke!" William reappears on his hand.
"William! You need to hit the target on his head and sword quickly! It's the only way to take him down!" Ulrich yells to him.
William begins his trek up to the top.
Yumi's Point of View
Yumi walks into the machine room, where the robots appeared. It was quiet, with no signs of the robots. "Jeremy, did the robots move?" Yumi asks after she dialed his number.
"No, they still should be there" Jeremy replies.
Suddenly she hears the machinery step up and the robots appear. "Identifying target." The robot spoke. "Target identified as Yumi Ishiyama. Target assessment: extreme threat. Eliminate with extreme force." The robots fired at her. Yumi dives behind an assembly conveyor belt. "Find and eliminate the target."
"These guys are a living nightmare" Yumi says quietly.
A's Point of View
Odd, Aelita, A, and Franz run towards the edge of the ice sector with a manta right behind. "That manta just won't give up!" Aelita exclaims.
"And he's making me dizzy too!" Odd adds.
"Energy field!" Aelita fires but misses. A then fires and destroys it.
"Bullseye! Nice job A!"
A looks back to see William almost at the head. "Keep going William."
Yumi's Point of View
Yumi finds a metal rod. The robots approach. Yumi has to think fast. As the robots pass by, she tries to piece the robot, but the metal is much thicker.
"Extreme threat moved up to threat to everybody. Penalty is death."
"You mean you weren't gonna kill me before?" Yumi asks before the robots start firing at her fatal areas. Yumi runs towards the control room.
A's Point of View
Another manta flies by. It fires at Franz. "Shield!" Odd says defending him.
"Energy field!" Aelita says destroying this one.
"William, Xana is drawing energy to strengthen the Kolossus. You gotta stop him now" Jeremy informs him.
William jumps and stabs his word into it's head slowing him down.
"Jeremy, should me or A deactivate the tower?" Aelita asks.
"No, we need to run the program. This attack and the new AI are tied to Xana. We defeat him, these robots will disappear, and my future will be saved."
At this time Hopper returns to the digital sea. Aelita and A chase after him. "Jeremy, our father just returned to the digital sea" Aelita inform him.
"Yeah, I know. He sent me the data that I needed to upload the program from the supercomputer to sector five. You all have to go there for this to work though" Jeremy informs them.
The Kolossus starts to step forward, getting its energy back. "Uh Jeremy, could you hurry up with the transporter. If the Kolossus gets here first, he'll be playing ping pong with it" Odd says.
"William's on top of it."
"He's on top of it. Let's just hope he doesn't fall off it."
Yumi's Point of View
Yumi enters the control room as the robots approach. She moves to the door and blocks it. She hides behind a pillar, hoping the robots don't spot her. "These things are a menace."
A's Point of View
"I'm entering the code Scipio" Jeremy says, and the transporter arrives.
"There it is" Aelita says.
The ground shakes behind them. "And there he is!" Odd adds. William jumps off and strikes the sword. "Later volcano brain, say hello to Xana for us." The last thing A saw was William and Ulrich doomed to be crushed by the Kolossus.
Yumi's Point of View
The robots break the door down. "Spread out and eliminate the target." The robots head off in different directions. The entrance they came through was unguarded. Yumi quickly runs away. "Target identified." The robot fires and succeeds in hitting her in the back., ripping her shirt. Yumi screams in pain but continues to leave. "Pursue target." She hears the robots chasing after her again. Yumi reaches the end of the corridor as one of the robots fire another shot at the same place as before. It connects, but luckily for her, the strap of her bra stopped her from being killed.
"Sometimes it helps being a girl" She says as she turns the corner.
"Unacceptable! Find and shoot to kill on face!"
A's Point of View
The three make it to the celestial dome. Aelita runs up to the interface. "Jeremy, we're here. Send the program" Aelita informs him.
"Ok, I'm sending the program" Jeremy says as the program appears on the interface.
"Uh oh," Odd looks up. "Looks like we're in for a flying fish show."
"Odd, you and me need to defend Aelita. We need to defeat Xana" A says.
"But can't you also use the interface."
A didn't need him interfering with her plans. "Just do as I say!" She yelled.
"Of course" Odd quickly responded.
Aelita tries to run the program but can't. "Jeremy, what's the problem?"
"Uh no. We don't have enough power to run the program! And we're only a step away from beating Xana!" Jeremy says in frustration.
Odd is hit by a manta and almost loses balance. He is hit again and is devirtualized.
Yumi's Point of View
As Yumi reenters the machine room, the robots spot her. It aims for her face but hits her leg instead. Yumi falls down as now the bottom of her pants had a hole. "Move in to finish target."
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich and William have arrived at Yumi's location. "Hey tin cans! Try taking us on" Ulrich calls them out as he and William get in fighting stances.
"Identifying targets. Targets identified as Ulrich Stern and William Dunbar. Show connections to current target Yumi Ishiyama. Assessment: same threat level. Shoot to kill." Both of their eyes widen as the robots take aim and fire. Luckily they both dived out of the way. "Pursue and eliminate." They all leave the incapacitated Yumi on the floor.
A's Point of View
A is trying to deal with the mantas who are successful at firing a shot at her and Aelita. Suddenly, her father rises and provides the last key.
"Aelita, try running the program again" Jeremy informs her.
"But what about my father?" Aelita asks.
"Your father is supplying the energy we need. Do it."
"No!"
She is about to fire an energy field, when A grabs her arms. "Aelita stop!"
"Let me go!"
"No, this needs to happen."
"At what cost?"
"Everything. Your father causes the mass extinction. I want him to live just as much as you do, but not at cost of everyone."
"We can still change the future."
"Not with that AI here. Our future is doomed."
Suddenly the mantas destroy Franz.
"No!" She quickly elbows A in the stomach and runs up to the interface, activating the program. A smiles knowing they won.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich and William arrive at a dead end, with the robots surrounding them. They take aim and then start sparking. They all shut down.
"Do you think-" Ulrich starts.
"Xana was defeated?" William finishes.
"Let's go check on Yumi."
A's Point of View
Aelita stood over A. She held her hand in firing, with a look of disappointment. "You want to end me now, don't ya? I don't blame you. I would want to do that to myself as well."
"Why?" Aelita asks.
"Before I left, I had the nightmare you had this morning. It affected my life. It will to you soon. But just know, find ways to cope with it. Losing a parent is never easy." Aelita would cry now if she could. A hugged her to comfort her. "Shhh. He knew what he was doing. We all have a brighter future because of this."
"Aelita, A, we did it. Xana's been destroyed and the robots have officially been decommissioned. I'll bring you both back" Jeremy says.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich runs up to Yumi. "Yumi, are you okay?"
"What took you so long?" She jokes.
"Come on, let's get you to the lab."
Ulrich picks her up and William takes he rother shoulder and the two carry her back.
A's Point of View
The group was all silent. They all know the cost that this mission took to complete. "Well, it's all over, right A?" Jeremy asks.
"I won't know, till I return. If not, you'll see me again."
"Well, time for one more return to the past. We can't leave any evidence of those evolved robots." Jeremy activated the program. "Return to the pas now." Time was reversed and Xana has been defeated.
A.N. – And this ends one chapter of the Lyoko Warriors lives. Next time, will be Echoes, but will be short for the actual episode. The main part is where A returns, but first, she has some things to settle in the past before she can go back home. One more episode for the season, and two more for the story.
