Chapter 37: Mein Trabi

Gilbert got dressed and made his way down the stairs, surprised to find Ivan standing excitedly by the door in his coat and boots, holding Gilbert's coat.

'Come on! Let's go!' Ivan said excitedly.

'In the cold…' Gilbert sighed, grabbing the coat.

'It will be worth it I promise.' Ivan assured as Gilbert put the coat on.

'If it's not, I am going back to sleeping in my room again.' Gilbert warned as he put his boots on.

'It will be, now close your eyes!' Ivan said, holding out a tie.

Gilbert complied, closing his eyes and allowing the Russian to tie the tie over his eyes. He then felt the cold breeze as the door clicked open and Ivan began to lead him outside, down the steps and down the driveway, the snow crunching under his boots.

Eventually they came to a stop and Ivan twisted Gilbert around before stepping away, having placed him directly in front of the car.

'Take the blindfold of when you are ready for your awesome birthday present, da!' Ivan sang.

Gilbert even after all this time was still half expecting this to be some sort of weird trick. Ivan could be pretty mean like that sometimes. Still he took the blindfold off and opened his eyes.

'MIEN GOTT IS THAT A CAR!' Gilbert said in awe.

'Da, it is one made by your people. It is a Trabant 601… I think.' Ivan explained, holding out the keys.

'Fuck yeah this is awesome!' Gilbert said, snatching the keys and running to the door, unlocking the car.

Gilbert started the engine and was surprised as it didn't sound as he had expected, giving it a rev he found it sounded more like a motorcycle than a car.

'What engine is this?' Gilbert yelled over the loud sound of the car.

'Is a two stroke da!' Ivan smiled back.

Gilbert nodded and pushed on the gas again, it did sound really fucking cool. Not only that it was blue. He also hadn't had a car since the 40s, a little smaller than he would normally choose but still fucking awesome.

'I fucking love this thing, its awesome!' Gilbert laughed.

'I will grab Lithuania so he can take photos of us with it!' Ivan smiled happily running inside.

This rocked, having his own car would save him having to beg Lithuania to allow him to use Ivan's old Moskvitch 403 that even though they were meant to share it between them, only Lithuania or Estonia would ever be allowed to drive it and Gilbert was always left to beg Ivan to use his Moskvitch 408.

No doubt Gilbert getting his own personal car would raise questions but at this point they must all know, both Estonia and Lithuania had clocked on and who cared. Maybe if their countries made cars they could have one too.

'I got him! Let's take a photo!' Ivan yelled happily as he ran outside with Lithuania in tow.

The Lithuanian looked at Gilbert with a scowl as always, Gilbert just shut the car off and shut the door before standing in front of it, placing his normal smirk on his face. Before Lithuania could take it, Ivan ran over to Gilbert and hugged his right arm as he leaned his face into his shoulder. Gilbert couldn't help but blush and smile at how adorable it was, looking away in an attempt to continue to look tough.

Just as that happened Lithuania snapped the photo and after some more he was ushered back inside and Gilbert went back to playing with his new car.

'You going to take me for a drive then?' Ivan smiled as he sat in the passenger seat.

'I hope you're ready for the ride of your life Vanya!' Gilbert laughed as he slammed his door shut and took off the handbrake.

After taking the first few kilometres at a more reasonable pace so he could get used to the car, he was ready to show Ivan why his brother didn't like letting him drive.

Gilbert was always a fast driver, even if this Trabant was slower than his old BMW 328, maybe even 6 times slower, it had pretty decent handling and was very light.

Gilbert began full sending it as much as you could with a 34hp car that topped out at 100 km/h. The small light body was making it feel much faster than it was and the loud ass engine.

Gilbert drifted it around a corner and after looking over at Ivan, expecting him to be shitting himself but was surprised to find him smiling and laughing in joy. This was the point where Ludwig would normally scream for him to pull over and let him drive.

'So you like drifting I see?' Gilbert smirked.

Ivan just nodded eagerly.

'Alright then. Ksesesese.' Gilbert laughed as he threw it around another corner the same way again.

This went on for a while until Gilbert and Ivan got close enough to the city that cops were hanging around. So the two instead went down another road that led back away from the city and decided to take a break in a lay-by.

'Why did you never say you drive like this?' Ivan smiled, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes.

'I am more amazed you liked it! My brother would have died of stress 10 times over by now!' Gilbert smiled back.

'You haven't had it a day and we will need new tires.' Ivan sighed happily.

'You don't even want to know how many I got through before the war. I had to calm it down because of the war. I haven't driven like this since the late 30s. I missed it so much.' Gilbert reminisced.

'You really are an awesome driver. You must teach me this. I think it would be so funny to surprise Lithuania with it.' Ivan smiled, grabbing Gilbert's hand.

'Of course I am awesome at driving! I am at everything!' Gilbert shouted cockily.

'You might kill him if you do that though?' Gilbert sighed, grabbing the Russian's hand tightly.

'He will be fine. He is always such a worrier. He needs to relax more, they all do.' Ivan said seriously.

'Say, I don't think anyone uses this road, you wanna christen my back seat.' Gilbert winked.

'The car is very small for such things, da.' Ivan responded confused.

'You clearly have never done it in a car. It's always tight, that's the fun.' Gilbert smirked.

'No I have never had sex in a car. You were my first remember?' Ivan said embarrassed.

'Come on! It will be fun!' Gilbert yelled as he ran his hand on the Russian's leg.

'Okay but we will have to fight outside, we don't want to break the car. I just bought it.' Ivan looked away bashfully.

'It's my car and my birthday! I win by default!' Gilbert smirked, pointing to himself with both hands.

'No fair! That not the rules!' Ivan pouted.

'Alls fair in love and war, meine Liebe.' Gilbert laughed as he ran his fingers down Ivan's face.

'It will be just like the night in Stalingrad. Where I show you something new.' Gilbert whispered into his ear.

'I guess I can make an expedition this once.' Ivan smiled softly, now bright red.

'Let's fold down these seats then and get down!' Gilbert laughed as he swung the door open.

'Speaking like that kills the mood you know!' Ivan shook his head as he opened his own door.

As they folded down the seats Ivan found himself worrying about what would happen if someone caught them, drove by. What they were doing was illegal after all, even if things had gotten better since Stalin died.

Once the seats were folded down Gilbert pushed Ivan into the back seat and shut both the doors. Pinning the Russian down he took him into a rough yet passionate kiss and melted away any worry the Russian had, he wanted this.

After some time exploring each others bodies in the back seat of the tiny car, Gilbert shuffled around enough to flip the Russian around.

Ivan was now kneeling on the rear seat with the side of his face squished up against the rear window hard by the Prussian's hand, as his other hand fumbled with the two's pants.

As soon as the Prussian thrusted inside of him the whole car shook with it, every single time Gilbert and him moved together the car shook violently. He started to wonder if the handbrake on this little thing would hold with how rough they got, or if the rear glass would pop out from how hard Gilbert was pressing him against it.

Somehow the hardy little car survived it and after all was said and done, Gilbert finally let Ivan's face free from the glass as he pulled their pants up and pushed Ivan to the side so he could flop down on the back seat.

'Now that was fun… the danger of getting found only makes it more awesome…' Gilbert said between panting breaths.

Ivan turned around so he was now sitting before flopping down and laying on the Prussian's lap, the other running his hand through his hair as soon as Ivan's head hit his lap.

'Yes… it was so much fun… even if scary…' Ivan smiled softly when he noticed the Gilbert's bird on the dashboard.

'Did that thing watch us the whole time?' Ivan said horrified.

'I don't think it has any idea what's going on if that helps.' Gilbert laughed as Ivan's discomfort.

'Still…' Ivan sighed as he closed his eyes. The Prussian petting his hair was making him feel sleepy and it was not like there was much point in having them open as the windows were all fogged up anyway.

'Thanks for the car, it's awesome and… I… I wanted to say…. Eh… I love you.' Gilbert bright red at letting the rare words leave his lips.

He always hated saying it. It was so sappy and gross and not very war like or awesome. However he knew the Russian loved those words and honestly, he meant every one of them.

Nothing about this situation was ideal but Ivan had done his best to make it better in his own fucked up way. God only knows how he convinced his boss to allow him to buy another brand new car only a year after he just got one, let alone this one.

'I love you too Gilbert. You are my favourite person so I am so happy you like the car. I was worried it would be too small for you but it seems it was just right.' Ivan blushed as he grabbed Gilbert's free hand and rubbed his nose on it affectionately.

'Nah, it's awesome! Just like me! And besides it's cute that it's small, it's like a little bird.' Gilbert smirked as he looked lovingly at the Russian in his lap.

If only he could stay in this moment forever, away from the stress, sadness and anger of the world he lived in. The only thing right now he felt sitting in the back of this car was contentment and love, it was nice.
