The elevator soon reached the top…damn it goes high. We're literally above alrest. We can see the planet alongside outer space. Enough gawking at space. We had to keep moving. We reached elysium at long last….and damn talk about a letdown. This wasn't the beautiful place that pyra and mythra remembered. It's more like the wasteland that I grew up and lived in during my first life.
"W-what is this place?...can this place really be elysium? Where's the greenery? The water? Birdsong? There's nothing! Nothing here at all!" rex yelled. Utterly distraught. Can't say i blame him. All this time to reach this place. Only to find a dead wasteland?
"This…this is not how I remember it." pyra said. Yeah..except for that damn bell ringing…
"Ugh...well at least that bell is the same…come on. This place may be a wasteland. But as someone who grew up in one…you can find some good loot among the sands. And hopefully that loot will be the answer we seek…how to save alrest." i said as i walked forward. Everyone followed…this place reminded me of home. But i can tell my friends were shaking up. Can't blame them. We found where the bell was coming from. A chapel…go figure. The doors swung open for us.
"Well that's unsettling." i said.
"A signal we should enter perhaps?" azurda asked.
"Perhaps we should" rex said. We entered the chapel.
"Welcome home…my children." a voice in the chapel said.
"Oh that's even more unsettling!" i yelled.
"Father?" pyra and mythra asked.
"The architect is here. But where?" morag asked.
"I am always here. Come to me." the architect said as an entrance opened at the altar. We went down the stairway it was the same material that the world tree was made out of. I turned around to see everyone was gone.
"What the hell!? Rex? Pyra? Jin? Lora? Milton? Mythra? Where the hell did you all go!?" i asked as i ran ahead. As i ran through the doorway i found myself in a wasteland. But it wasn't the elysium wasteland…it was the armageddon sanctuary wasteland. The wasteland i once called home…
"Do you really think you can forget what you did?" someone behind me said. I turned around to see my old self. Kaku frei standing in front of me. "Do you really think you can bury it all? The people you've killed. The lives you destroyed. Hell you haven't changed when coming here. As hugo proved!" my other self yelled. He wants me to get angry. To prove him right…I refuse to give him what he wants. He summoned the sword of the wasteland. And charges. He was attacking relentlessly and predictable. Making taking him down easy. Really goes to show how far I've surpassed my old self.
"How!? How can you fight without anger!?" my old self yelled.
"Skillfully. And maybe your right…maybe i am a fool to think i can just forget about my past…but i'm still going to try and move on…after all. I'm not alone anymore. I have people I can trust now. True friends that i can rely on…something we didn't have before." i said. My doppelganger smiled and disappeared. A bright light blinded me and i found myself in front of…fonsett village. I saw that i was standing next to rex.
"Guess you had a bizarre vision as well?" i asked.
"Y-yeah…why are we here now?" rex asked. I shrugged and headed in to aunt corrine's place. Good spot as any. We entered and found pyra and mythra waiting for us.
"Welcome back!" pyra yelled.
"You're both late. Where'd you wander off to?" mythra asked.
"Not sure about him…but i went on a bit of a self-reflection trip." i said…i mean it wasn't a lie. Me and rex both entered. It was nice having my favorite meals with my blade girlfriend. Though it was odd. Mythra was acting like pyra and vice versa. I went to wash my hands. With rex following soon after. Honestly i don't know what's going on. But i do know one thing…this is something i want to do for real. Having dinner. Having a laugh. Making snarky comments in good fun. I swore we would do this when this journey was over. And alrest was saved. However this came to an end when i heard rex beginning to cry.
"It's so strange…i don't even know what i'm doing here anymore…everyone's all wrong..they said i..but now…you two..did i go wrong somewhere…" rex said as he broke down. It's obvious that he had a different illusion then i did…and it must have been multiple punches to the gut..
"Guess the reprieves over, back to work…hey architect! You done fucking with us now!?" i yelled. Everything went dark. And soon everyone appeared with us in the dark.
"Guess you all had your own self reflection trip?" i asked. Everyone nodded.
"I merely wished to examine the shape of your hearts." a voice in the dark said. And soon we came face to face with the architect. Half old man with long blonde hair. Half void of darkness.
"My name is klaus. The architect of this world. I have watched over you all this time. I have seen your thoughts. Your desires. The things you have achieved." the architect explained.
"What was the point of that!?" i yelled.
"Those were the fears you harbor." the architect said. Can't deny that…the fear of my past haunting me…the murdering marauder. "The point was to see how humanity has changed. As you stand before me that is enough..i'll show ." the architect said. He explained everything that alrest is one half of a destroyed earth years ago..the other half of klaus became an evil god named zanza. Terrorizing that world. It seemed a boy named shulk on a similar journey to rex is against him alongside a nahobino named agni pyrus. I read about them…nahobino are what happens when an armageddon knights mates with a human. The knowledge from the fruit and the power of the armageddon knights fuse together in the womb and creates a warrior even more powerful than the armageddon knights. His experiment ended with the world split in two after trying to harness a power called the conduit. When he tried to open it. Everything and everyone disappeared leaving him alone with the two trinity processor cores logos and pneuma. Or as we know them. The aegis. Malos and mythra. Klaus doesn't have much longer. Cause zanza's death at the hands of shulk and agni will result in his demise as well. So all we can do is wrap things up. So off we go to finish what we started…it's time to wrap things up with malos.
After fighting through the robots of this place. We reached the room where malos was. He was standing in front of an artiface. A giant human like robot one havf was white. The other was black. Representing mythra and malos? Most likely. I was ready to fight. With pyra in pneuma form. While mythra is in her armageddon blade form. It's what i call it anyway.
"Just in time boys! I've saved you the best seats in the house!" malos yelled.
"What to you crushing your own crystal? I would pay top gold for that!" i yelled.
"Heh…you'd like that wouldn't you? But i gotta say…i was expecting you to come flying at me with that usual rage you showed. So what changed berserker of torna?" malos asked.
"Don't hate the blade. Hate the driver. After all, It's mostly their fault that the blade ends up the way they do. That's true for the aegis. Mythra wouldn't have been the way she was. If addam was a pansy afraid of his own blade. And we wouldn't be standing here now if your driver wasn't that nihilistic psychotic piece of garbage amalthus." i said. Malos sighed.
"Heh…maybe you're right. Hell Maybe we could have even been friends if I didn't have that asshole as my driver…but there's no point in talking about What ifs now is there?" malos asked.
"Yeah…" i said as i drew my sword. And activated my armageddon lord form… "let's finish this!" i yelled. Malos hopped into the artifice.
"Yeah! Show me what you got berserker! Partner! Brat!" malos yelled. As the artifice activated. The final began. The artifice combined with it's size and the power over light and dark. It was obvious that this thing had the power to destroy all of alrest. But everytime we got knocked we would grit our teeth and stand back up. We haven't come this far to fall now!
"Rex! Pyra! You two ready!?" I asked.
"Yeah!" rex yelled. Both me and him rised our swords to the air! They both raised to the sky.
"Infinity blade!" rex and pyra yelled.
"Murakumo!" me and mythra yelled. With our combined might we slashed aion in two. Malos falls out his crystal shattering completely. I felt nothing but pity for him.
"Well you finally killed me…most feel pretty good right now. Right kaku?" malos asked.
"In a "thank fuck that's over" kind of way? Yes." I said.
"Heh hunting me for 500 years. And that's the best i get…ah well…enjoy your life…what's left of it." malos as he disappeared not even a core crystal left behind.
"Malos…" pyra said. Feeling sorry for him. Can't say i blame her. After all her and mythra could have gone down the same route if they ended up with someone like amalthus as their driver. I sighed.
"Kaku?" lora asked.
"I find it hard to believe. 500 years i've been locked into this battle…and now…it's over. It's finally over…now what do with the rest of my life? I'll think about it once we're out of here." i said. Only for the whole place to shake. Everyone falling over. "Oh what the fuck now!?" i asked. Mythra opened up some digital menu to see. Needless to say. It was nothing good.
"At this rate! All of elysium will collapse!? Since the conduit disappeared. The power holding elysium together has been cut off! Everything above this point will either orbit the planet or be flung into outer space by centrifugal force. Everything else will including the world tree. Will fall on top of alrest!" mythra yelled.
"Shit! That would mean amalthus and malos would get what they wanted. Anyone got any bright ideas!?" i yelled.
"There is one way. Five stories down from here. There's a control room for the correction boosters. If we can fire the booster jets. And accelerate the whole world tree beyond escape velocity." pyra said.
"I don't know much about boosters and velocity. but I reckon we gotta get there fast?" zeke asked.
"Well. what do we have to lose. Let's go!" lora yelled. We all ran to that floor.
Mythra pov.
As everyone ran ahead.i needed to talk to pyra. I know that was a lie.
"Didn't think you had it in you to lie. So what's the truth?" i asked. Poppi and azurda heard this.
"The only way to save alrest is too initiate aion's self destruct and completely destroy elysium." pyra said.
"What!? but if you do that…" i said.
"I know…it's the only way." pyra said with a sad smile.
"Let me do it!" i yelled.
"I wouldn't even if you could…aion will only listen to pneuma or logos. And your new power means that aion won't recognize you as pneuma. It has to be me." pyra said. God dammit…she's right. I want to fight another way…but we don't have the time. All i can do is honor her sacrifice. So i hugged pyra.
"Thank you for everything…sister." i said as i let go. I ran ahead. She had to fill poppi and azurda on something. I ran to catch up with everyone.
Kaku pov.
As we ran to that floor. Mythra azurda and poppi soon caught up. Though pyra wasn't with them.
"Wheres pyra?" rex asked.
"This isn't a thruster control room..it's an escape pod room." i said i looked over to the bridge and saw pyra across it. With a look of sorrow.
"I'm sorry…" with a swift hand motion. She destroyed the bridge. She explained that the only way to stop the world tree's collapse was to use the last of the aions power to initiate the self-destruct. Which will cause an explosion that will completely obliterate elysium. But it was obvious from the way she destroyed the bridge…that this wasn't something she wasn't going to come back from. When rex realized this. He tried to use his anchor shot. And when that didn't work. He went to poppi. But she refused because of a promise that she and pyra made. Of course rex wasn't having it.
"Rex…sometimes a man needs to learn when to let go…do it for her, rex…do as she asks." azurda said.
"Chum. how long are you planning on being a big baby? She's the girl you love. You got to accept her decision." zeke said.
"Rex…this hurts me too…losing my sister…but i know it's this or alrest is destroyed…i promise…this won't be the end…i'll find someway to bring her back." mythra said. Rex looked up to her. He wiped the tears from his eyes. The armor on rex disappeared. Returning to his salvager uniform and the crystal that was in his chest. Fell out. Becoming lifeless. He picked it up and we all made a run for it.
3rd person pov.
5 minutes before detonation. As pyra waited for the inevitable. She saw everyone making a run for it with a smile.
"Rex…i'm so glad to have met you. Our time together was short, a fraction of my long long years. But it's been brighter and warmer than any time i can remember before…kaku. Mythra won't tell you this. But she saw you as nothing but a violent brute. Honestly I never thought you two would fall in love. But you believed in her when no one else would. You helped her smooth out her rough edges. And she did the same for you. And be there when the guilt consumed you..i know you'll make her happy. Like she did for you…if you two have a daughter…can you name her after me?" pyra asked with a giggle. As the crew got on the escape pod and flew off. The countdown ended. And the explosion happened. Destroying the aion and elysium. Alrest was saved.
"Pyraaaa!" rex screamed as the facility exploded. The pod soon fell apart as it entered alrests orbit. Everyone began falling to the cloud sea below. However. Azurda regained his original form. And everyone landed on his back.
"Fucking hell! I don't know how you aged 500 years in 3 seconds azurda but i'm not complaining!" kaku yelled.
"Everyone hang on tight!" azurda yelled as we flew down. The cloud sea fading away revealing the lands of morytha below. Everyone wondered if they were too late. And everything was gone. But after a short flight. All the titans soon came together and joined with the land. This was what klaus meant by restoring the world…
"So elysium…was here all along." rex said.
"Guess so..well. This adventure had it's hard moments…but i had fun. Thanks rex." kaku said.
"So…what now?" lora asked.
"Isn't the question of the century…" kaku said. Rex looked somberly at the powerless crystal in his hand. Mythra grabbed it.
"Hey!" rex yelled. Mythra started pouring her energy into it. And in a flash of green energy. Pyra returned…
"Heh. i promised you didn't i?" mythra asked with a smug grin. Rex ran towards pyra.
"Sorry to worry you all." pyra aplogized.
"Your back…and that's all that matters." jin said with a smile. Kaku looked towards everyone. And smiled.
"It's finally over…this is an ending i can be happy about…first things first. Gotta find a place to live. Can't sleep on plants…and i can't start a family in the wilds either." kaku thought. His face turned red as he realized the thoughts that went through his head… "where did that come from!?" kaku thought. Thankfully no one noticed. With a sigh of relief. He looked over to see the new elysium. He then felt a hand wrap around his. He looked over to see mythra holding his hand and smiling. He smiled back and the two looked back at the new elysium…side by side. The future awaited.
