The Digidestined had reached the throne room, to find it dark and empty after they had kicked open the doors teaming up on it, Mikuni sighed with disappointment, she wanted to kick Queen Anarchy's ass if they caught the evil Queen off guard as they had planned, with caution they all entered the throne room, which on further inspection hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, from the pooling dust everywhere except the throne itself, that seems very pristine in compared to the room it was in, and the burn mark in the floor that they noticed when they had been there before.
"I am guessing that's where Queen Anarchy had murdered her parents," Takajin said, pointing at the burn mark in question.
"though she didn't seem like a Murderer when we first met her, though her personality had shifted dramatically when she revealed herself to be Queen Anarchy so don't know anymore," Takajin said, before looking at Juniko "Why didn't you attack her really, Dianamon is a water Digimon, as in the moon controls the tides, she seems to only control fire Digimon?"
"From the look in her eyes, I believe Kane, on his account that it was an accident, the killing of her parents," Juniko said, looking back down at the burn mark on the floor.
"You have always been naïve, and you will never change, but I will hand her justice, for all the crimes she has done, even for killing her parents," Mikuni said, her expression going hard "As a Champion of Justice"
"Justice what a joke," said a voice out of nowhere, that echoed through the entire room, and before it stopped resonating, all the digidestined partners that had been under Queen Anarchy's control were standing there just staring at them. "Lilithmon, was justice the reason you attacked, and nearly killed me?" the voice coming from all the Digimon all at once, joining them was the rest of the digidestined Digimon "LOOKING FOR ME!" said the voice as Trisiras appeared just inches away from Juniko's ear.
"Trisiras I presume, so the evil Queen has now reformed back to her true self?" Mikuni said, looking at the newcomer unblinkingly, deciding when to attack.
"She thought she was part of us, but she was just a mangy mutt and had no part of this, I played her till she opened up her eyes to reality, nothing she did was ever in her control," Trisiras said, as her eyes wandered from the digidestined to their digimon partners "Instead of fighting this, accept me as your new great old one of Chaos, and I'll release your digimon" as she spoke she picked up Moonmon, cradling her in her arms and stroked the fur on top of her head.
"We aren't going to accept you at all," Mikuni said, clinching her quarterstaff
"What if it brings balance back to this world" Trisiras asked, taking measure of Mikuni's eyes.
"Not even if it brings World peace, your balance isn't what the world needs, that's my opinion but I know looking at you, you cannot be trusted since you have so much hate for humanity," Mikuni said, looking down at her Digimon partner Lopmon, trying to come up with a way to snap the rabbit Digimon out of Trisiras's control "But how are we supposed to fight, when you have all our Digimon partners, I could fight without mine, but what fun is that for you?"
"You have a point; I was only controlling them to prove that I could do so with more types of Digimon than Queen Anarchy, and I could just have them smear your digidestined brains and make Lilithmon watch proving I am worth belonging by her side, I came from nothing, knocked back nothing, I am not going back again," Trisiras said, looking at all the digidestined digimon that were there. "I have chosen the Digimon you can use, and the ones I'll use against you, Truthfully I don't care, I don't know why I am giving you a chance" She paused for a moment and looked at Juniko like the answer had just clicked together in her mind before she continued speaking "but what's life but a series of choices I'm` probably doing this since it's not what Lilithmon did with me, and I want to be better than her"
"Why are you even doing this, we have done nothing to you, we don't even know you, you keep bringing up Lilithmon, but I am not her and have few of her memories," Juniko asked, looking at Trisiras like she was trying to remember her but failing to do so passed all that she had been told about her.
"Of course, I don't expect you to remember ruining my life, but oh well, I should just show you, since a picture is worth a thousand betrayals," Trisiras said, before showing the same thing she showed Mitsuko but only the end of it, the image filled the room
"Sorry I wanted…wanted… was to…be," Trisiras said, before being cut off by Lilithmon's hand, on her face
"Be dust!" Lilithmon screamed as the monstrous Nazar nail exploded, three streams of energy shooting from it, and dust poured to the ground before it vanished as well.
"This is what you did to me" said Trisiras, as the image faded back to the room, to her standing in front of the digidestined. "you are not Lilithmon in your current form, but you will be some day, I want to show you that I can be one of you, we can be coworkers, and bring balance to this world and forget Erebosmon, he's of the past, and should remain imprisoned, I currently hate everything to do with Lilithmon, and everything she has created but that can be dealt with in time" At the moment as she finished speaking, Mikuni had seemingly vanished briefly and was on top of Trisiras, bringing her quarterstaff down on her on what appeared to be unsuspecting victim's head, then she was gone too, the long weapons shaft hitting the ground instead, Trisiras was on the other side of the room, her right hand on her face, in what appeared to be a face palm gesture "So You digidestined just want to fight me, So Let's Battle, I always actually wanted to fight Lilithmon's chosen to learn what not to do whenever I decide to create my own, life is chaotic, why can't life come out of chaos!" she then snapped her fingers, and half the digidestined Digimon's eyes cleared of the weird red glow that they had been filled with. "You get Lopmon, Babydmon, and Mikemon, I get Sunmon, Moonmon, and myself" The ones she mentioned took their place on either side of her and digivolved into their ultimate forms, and made herself match them in size, the room then shimmer, now they were in a room with many versions of Mitsuko, most of them were her as a child, then they seemed to melt into the ground "enough of that nonsense, welcome to the arena of tomorrow!"
Lopmon digivolved into KazeLeporimon, a rabbit in a storm made from blades of wind, circling it, it free-floating in the center of the storm vortex "I'm dishonored that I let that witch control me, I'll make it up to you my princess" he said in a very gruff voice.
"You think I haven't noticed not all the digidestined are present here, I'll find them after I deal when I have brought you in line, and when the Leoben kid is feeling better, and when the Digi chips of friendship, and light finds new wielders, I'll face them in time, I promise you that," Trisiras said, as she began to free float in the air. "But who would want to wield that damaged chip of light, I heard Tajiri Kamiya did a lot of harm to it, a wound that will never fully heal, you know those things are alive, living creatures like all of…"
KazeLeporimon didn't let Trisiras finish her sentence before unleashing wind blades at her, which responded by hopping over them and then sliding on them like a rail, before vanishing, and kicking the rabbit out of its storm, launching it at a wall that appeared behind, before impacting it, the rabbit vanished, then appeared, now leaving after images of itself as it moved forwards back towards its opponent, sending wind blades ahead of itself, which Apollomon stepped in the way of, slightly extinguishing its fire, and sliced flesh, Takajin flinched heavily and grabbed his arm like he had been sliced instead of his Digimon partner, that's when Mikuni also crumpled to her knees, but instantly got back to her feet, waving off Takajin who looked like he was going to go to her, to check if she was ok.
"Digidestined connection to their Digimon partner, feel the pain from it, how stupid of Lilithmon for adding that as a feature, keep attacking all you will be doing is hurting your friends as I look through their read-only bios built into their very own digital cells," Trisiras said, looking like she was actually reading that was invisible, randomly waving her hand like she was turning a page.
-Temple of the Heart of Digivolution-
"You'll be ok, your eyes will shine the world towards its future and beyond, even if I am not around anymore," Gemini Kane said, laboring for breath, as blood dribbled from his mouth like a red bit of drool.
"Brother, please don't say that I lost you once, and I don't want to lose you again," Mitsuko said, still cradling her brother, fresh tears threatening to burst from her eyes, like an impending thunderstorm in the springtime.
"Bright eyes burning like ambers, bright eyes that are the bright light at the end of the tunnel leading to my freedom, you never lost me before, you were the only thing that kept me sane during the war you are my Shining one," Gemini Kane said as he nearly closed his eyes, only for them to shoot open again like he feared closing them would lead to him not be able to open them again.
"talk like that embarrasses me, just because my name means shining one in the ancient dialect, doesn't mean I am that," Mitsuko said, her cheeks reddening slightly to bleach white in brief moments as she spoke. "I should be getting you help, instead of listening to your nonsense" She was suddenly cut off when her brother raised his right hand and placed it touching her cheek,
"I am not breaking my promise, even if I die, I will always be with you, You'll…Be…OK" Kane said struggling to speak "bring me close, let me hear your heartbeat, lend me Its voice" He then with a great effort pulled himself up so his head rested right under Mitsuko's chest, his ear on her solar plexus "There you are Sister?" his hand falling away from her face, landing back at his side limply, he stared off into the distance like nothing was there, Mitsuko gently lowers General Gemini Kane, moving him off her lap, she needed to find help now, hoping her brother isn't dead but believing he was, as she was making her way towards the stairs, she suddenly noticed a weird dinosaur digimon, it was an agumon, it stood there smiling at her, wherever it came from was a mystery, despite having a plethora of fire digimon there were none as far as she knew that resided in the infernal swamp, but here was one as plain as day.
"Hello there, silly child, who are you?" Agumon said winking playfully at Mitsuko, as it tapped its claws together.
"I am Queen Anarchy," Mitsuko said, answering with deflated defiance in her tone, she was more concerned with the dying brother in her lap
"That's who you think you are, but who or what are you exactly, quit lying to yourself, you silly! Silly! Child" Agumon said, like it didn't register Mitsuko's tone at all, but also openly mocked her for some reason. "guess again"
"How dare you speak to me like this you obnoxious Digimon" Mitsuko responded, looking confusedly angry at the Agumon.
"Silly!" Agumon suddenly started repeating nonstop at Mitsuko, ignoring the shade of red her skin was turning in frustration.
"SHUT UP!" Mitsuko shouted, after putting up with the Agumon after several minutes, she felt like punching it, since it was obviously here to try her patience., maybe she should just kill the blasted thing, and continue looking for help, he couldn't last much longer without medical attention, and this pest of a Digimon was preventing her from doing so, the next second she was dodging another fireball as Agumon said pepper breath, she was now scowling at the dinosaur Digimon.
"You got it wrong, you aren't Shut up, guess again," Agumon said shaking its head with disappointment "Who and what are you?"
"Damn it, I don't care, I don't have time to answer questions, my brother is dying and you are in the way," Mitsuko said, before having to dodge yet another fireball.
"Wrong again, you aren't Damn it, I don't care, guess again, Who and what are you?" Agumon said, this time with impatience in its tone.
Mitsuko raised her hand and slapped Agumon hard, but it didn't flinch or appear to be upset that she had just struck it "I am Mitsuko, are you happy, you stinking dinosaur" she said before dodging yet another fireball, from Agumon, which at this point was getting rather tiresome.
"Yes you are Mitsuko, what you aren't isn't a stinking dinosaur, you have a dragon's heart, and your light will shine, it's within you, Let the light guide oh shining child," Agumon said, before turning its back to Mitsuko. "While you are at it shut down the barrier, you need help, and those who want to help you can't get in, just shut it down please, what are you waiting for follow me" he turned to face her, claws spread then closing them into a fist in a come here gesture. Mitsuko turned around looking down at her brother, who was breathing shallowly, laboring with each breath like each one was going to be his last, would following, this dinosaur let her bring back the help he desperately needed, the thing was annoying and wasn't giving her any answer, but she had a sudden feeling of trust for this creature like a memory that harkened back to her childhood, She hesitated briefly, then turned around and ran after the Agumon, she caught up with him at door with all the digidestined crest symbols around it, he stood, not even, he suddenly started talking without words coming out of his mouth, nodding now and then and shaking his head no a couple of times, like he was talking to someone else that she wasn't seeing anyone else, making Mitsuko question its sanity and her own for a few seconds, before after a few good minutes finally turned and faced her, smiled like he was happy that she had followed him, he gestured for her to continue to follow him.
"Follow you where, we just seem to be going further into the temple, how big is this place?" Mitsuko said, questioning herself once again, why she had even followed this thing, to begin with when it had kept trying to light on fire repeatedly, something about now pulsed her memory with nostalgia, of a past possibly long forgotten, becoming more vivid the more she thought about things.
"No questions Just follow me, it's not the journey that matters it's the destination," Agumon said, before yawning and continuing forward as the door opened on its own, leading to what appeared to be an infinite stretching hallway.
"It was the destination I was asking you about you cold-blooded dinosaur," Mitsuko said, sighing audibly before having to dodge yet another fireball, this one nearly getting her hair this time.
"Not all dinosaurs are coldblooded, I told you no more questions, you little silly child, just follow me, I'll let you know when we get there," Agumon said, before sniffing the air, and moving forward.
"you better know where you are going," Mitsuko said, now very frustrated at yet another attempt to set her on fire and also again calling her a child, even though it was technically true, she didn't like being called one by a random stranger, even though said stranger was getting more and more familiar as she spent time with them, slowly becoming an old friend she just got back together with after so many years apart.
"You are getting there, just keep at it, the destination is almost within your grasp," Agumon said, as they continued through what appeared to be a never-ending labyrinth of a hallway of hallways of more hallways when you looked down one of the adjacent hallways there were just more of them.
"What do you mean by that, what destination" Said Mitsuko, quickly dodging a now, predictable fireball coming from Agumon, she wasn't going to stop asking questions, despite his reaction was trying to set her ablaze because that was becoming pleasant, she couldn't put her finger on why exactly that was.
Agumon suddenly stopped once more "We are there," he said gesturing to what should have been yet another hallway but it was blocked by something white "It's up to you to let us in…just think on our journey and your memory, it's the key"
"Key to what?" Mitsuko said, more confused than ever
"The key to this realm, you are looking at, you dumb child," Agumon said, gesturing at themselves for some reason. "You don't have that glove of yours, and your Connection to the heart of Digivolution is now very thready at best, this is the only way to get you where you need to be" he then crossed his arms in annoyance like he expected her to natural know this.
In a Huff, Mitsuko turned her back "Up till now you haven't spoken of any key or realm of any kind, and you expect me to know what you are talking about, it's like you want me to suffer, you are right if that's what you are doing" she said, fighting her buckling knees, trying to make her sit down, and cry.
"You be silly, stupid child, don't tell me you suddenly developed a self-persecution complex, to go with the monster complex," Agumon said, giving Mitsuko an expression of disappointment with a side of mocking pity.
Mitsuko briefly closed her eyes like she was trying to clear them of something when she opened them again, she now looked at Agumon, like he was now her enemy "Who are you really, what you currently look like is familiar, something from my past, but something is off from that I just realized that now" she said clenching her right hand into a fist, while pointing at Agumon with her left hand.
"It took you long enough, I am not what appears before you, I made this construct, to help you remember this Agumon since it's the key to you getting into this realm, Trisiras now has the heart of Digivolution, meaning the glove of yours wouldn't work now even if you still had it, you need to reestablish your connection with the heart to shut down the storm barrier, the real me is out there pressing my hand against the fire barrier, which bloody hurts so much right now, so pardon me being rude to you, is called Kitsumon of the Wild Woods," said Agumon, in what now sounded like a female voice, which was very off-putting to Mitsuko, causing her to rapid blink at the dinosaur Digimon. "So please hurry and remember something anything to do with this Agumon so I can take my hand off this bloody fire, has anything rattled free in that pea brain of yours?"
"A Memory of an Agumon from my past?" Mitsuko said, thinking out loud, before shutting her eyes again, she felt it in her heart a long-dormant memory one of many that had come to the surface of her mind's eye, that's when the realm of white turned into a reflection of many diamond-shaped mirrors when she opened her eyes again, she was now in the middle of a forest, it wasn't on fire so it wasn't the fire swamp, it was another place she used to play, she stopped playing when her brother seemingly abandoned her for the war, she suddenly heard voices in the distance, she made her way towards it, where she found a clearing with a big tree. A boy now stood in front of the tree, looking up into its dense foliage, he had a concerned but playful expression on his face, as he seemed to be trying to find a way to climb the tree in front of him, Mitsuko realized the boy in front of her was her brother a version of him before the war started, the war she thought would start a few days from now, she looked up and there she saw herself, a younger version of herself.
Unknown time, Satapia-
"Mitsuko, get down from there" A boy called out at a Young Mitsuko, the boy looked like Gemini Kane but was 5 years younger than he was, watching as a much younger version of Mitsuko hanging upside down from a large tree.
"Make me, Taichi?" Mitsuko said, before a cracking noise, interrupted her, it was the branch she was hanging from
Taichi ran to be under the branch that his sister Mitsuko was hanging from, he heard the cracking of the tree "Hopefully this isn't you playing a Trick on me?" he said getting ready to catch her if she fell.
"No I am playing a trick; I don't play tricks" Mitsuko replied clinging to the branch like it was a lifeline
"Bbut you always play tricks on me all the time, how am I supposed to take you at your word," Taichi said, watching the expression on his sister's face, looking for one of her tells.
"I promise I am not playing a trick, I am really in danger and very scared" Mitsuko shaking now as the breeze started pushing the branch back and forth.
"Don't be scared, I am your brother and I am going to save you, big brothers protect their family even from themselves, just let go of the branch, and I'll catch you" Taichi said, his expression one of worry now, will catching just as bad as her landing on the ground, he now wished they had brought their Digimon partners.
"No I'm too scared, I can't make myself let go," Mitsuko said, as the branch continued to crack further.
"I could knock her out of the tree with my pepper breath," said a voice further up in the tree, an Agumon poked his head out, of the foliage, before hanging down from the branch and holding it with its legs.
"ignore the stupid dinosaur, and Save her you Nitwit, your sister is clearly in danger," Gatomon said harshly towards Taichi Reigami "Watching this is scaring away the rest of my nine lives, I feel like pulling out all my fur"
"Seriously this isn't the right time to be calling me names you wretched fleabag variant of a tailmon" Taichi responded to Gatomon with mild annoyance in his tone, having seemingly just mentally reached the conclusion, of being unable to gain purchase of the tree, he had been trying to climb and looked out of breath from the attempt as he spoke in huffs
At that moment Mitsuko lost her grip and fell, but was quickly caught by Taichi, while Gatomon sighed with relief, then there was silence, where the princess seemed not to be breathing at all, Taichi seemed to be on the verge of panic, then the princess honked his nose and started laughing "I was never in danger, I was messing with you, big brother" she said as she once again honked his nose "Even if I ever was in real danger you would always be there to save me"
"I wasn't fooled at all, I know you too well," Taichi said, relief spreading across his face.
"Tell that to the face, I saw a few moments ago, you looked like I had just died," Mitsuko said, before breaking out into a laughing fit.
"You hurt me by pointing that out," Taichi said, pretending to pout like a 6-year-old child.
"Oh poor you, I torment you so much, it must be so unbearable, having a sister like me, Am I the devil to you?" Mitsuko said, tightly hugging her brother.
"Correction I am your devil, and you will never get rid of me, I am undefeatable," Taichi said, before breaking into playful evil laughter teasing his sister.
-Realm of Thought-
Wind blades whipped through the air, with Trisiras gracefully sidestepped them like they were dancing, before stopping them and sending them back at KazeLeporimon, who canceled them, sending new ones back. Babydmon had digivolved to Slayerdramon and appeared above Trisiras coming down on them, but instead of dodging its attack, Apollomon, Sunmon's mega form stepped in its direct path, its fire absorbing most of the damage, the hit still made it call out in pain, but the connection made Takajin drop to his knees in pain, he waved off anyone going to his aide, his jaw clenched tight enough, that hos teeth could be heard cracking.
"Did you forget you have to fight them too, because I'll make you fight them, even if you don't want?" Trisiras said, giving a knowing wink like she is talking to a close friend, and not an enemy.
"You don't need, why can't you fight us on your own?" Juniko asked, pulling out her digivice and Digi chip hesitantly, going to slide the chip into it.
"Yes why not let them go?" Mikemon added, taking a position of defense, between Juniko and Trisiras
"I know I could take you on my own, but where's the fun in that," Trisiras said, almost excitedly, before squinting at Mikemon "How cathartic I get to beat up a Gatomon variant, part of me was stuck as that stupid cat Digimon for years, and that part of me actually hated children, and cats" her face slightly distorted, as she spoke the last words.
"Digimon synchronization, Purity chip activate," Juniko said inserting her Digichip into her digivice, then Mikemon and herself were enveloped in glowing spheres of light, when the spheres vanished Mikemon was now Bastemon "You tricked a naïve angry princess, I am now taking you down"
"That naïve Princess tricked you, what does that make you" Trisiras asked, looking not concerned about the current development, very non-plus-
"Very pissed off," Juniko said, charging with her Digimon partner, they both wore the same boots with long claws sticking out of them, then Bastemon and started dancing before she vanished and was behind Trisiras, going for her neck, clamping on to it, and appeared to be sucking
Trisiras rolled her eyes in annoyance "Oh no not my blood, my only weakness... Oh keep drinking and see what happens" she said, with a yawn in her tone like she didn't care, she seemed like she had just been stalling for time, or playing around with them like a predator does to prey "3...2…1…' she raised her left hand, and snapped fingers "Yowie wowie!" it was like something had violently hit bastemon in the face launching her across the room, fresh blood gushing from her face, as she skipped across the floor like a stone, Slayermon catching bastemon before she went too far, and now KazeLeporimon had returned to the fray. But was knocked out of his storm once again, this time to avoid Dianamon's blades "I carry with me the power of the Heart of Digivolution, where all Digital souls have resided and someday will return to be reborn, I will drain it, and become the new great old one of life, instead of you" she pointed at Juniko.
"I thought you were trying to prove, you belong with the great old one, taking Erebosmon place?" Juniko said, trying to keep Trisiras talking, so bastemon could recover, and rejoin the fight, from whatever she had been hit with.
"I'll still let you be a great old one, but I'll decide your powers later, I am taking both life and Chaos, I will be the chaos of Life" Trisiras said, rubbing both her hands, like she was thinking about it already, and it wasn't good for Juniko and her future. "What was I talking about before I got distracted, oh right kicking your asses, whose turn is it now?"
Slayermon let out a loud yawn, before charging towards Trisiras "Divine Dragon Slash Ripper" before spinning with its blade towards her, trying to cut them in half with it, and seemed to succeed in what he aimed to do.
"I have been cut in Twain, oh no what shall I do" Trisiras said, but for only a second she appeared to be falling in half, before regenerating back to normal. "Next?" she gazed over at Bastemon for a second, then Apolomon made a beeline towards an appearing to be decapitated opponent raising a scorching solar orb, and sending it towards them, with them moving almost at the last moment, before it would have made contact, possibly burning them to ash. "That was a close one, almost took out the reincarnations Digimon partner" as Bastemon appeared again, but with no sign of any damage at all
"This is my Final warning, let my friends Digimon partners go, and leave before I destroy you!" Juniko said, her arms crossed, with an intimidating expression on her face, trying to make a Mikuni impression.
It was this time Trisiras yawned "I am so intimidated…except sadly I lie, that's what I would say if you had reached full Lilithmon mode, but you have long way to go before that will happen" she said with a mocking smirk on her face, before yawning again "I am now bored" she suddenly looked up like something had piqued her interest, and proceeded to read something that seemingly wasn't there, mouthing words silently before returning her attention to the digidestined "This is going to be fun" she raised her hand in the air "Fusion Digivolution" before Dianamon and Apollomon were both engulfed in spheres of light, which merged into one very huge sphere when the sphere dissipated both Digimon had been replaced by one massive one
"GraceNovamon" declared the newly formed Digimon, as Takajin crumpled to the ground seemingly wreathed in agony, and Hikaru could be heard screaming in pain from all around them. The Heart of Digivolution now floated above its shadow casting itself over everything, having appeared out of nowhere.
