Chapter 7: Wheelie Breakers
The second term of Duel Academy had started after the summer vacation. Some students were still complaining about summer vacation being too short, but many had missed their friends, happy to see they were safe after the Ark Cradle incident that had shaken the city to its core. The majority of students had recognized Aki and the twins as Yusei's friends and companions who had supported him throughout the final battle against Z-one, so the Signers became popular once they returned to the academy. Aki and Luna felt a little uncomfortable at first, but Leo loved the attention even though he wasn't the main protagonist. However, it came to a point when he felt overwhelmed by the attention and prayed it would come to an end.
As if the Crimson Dragon had heard his wishes, the hype calmed down as days passed by with seasons changing to autumn with leaves shifting their colors into burning fire. Leo and Luna were on their way out of the main building, deciding they should visit Yusei and ask him for some help with their homework. Aki was unable to join them because she got busy studying extra in cram school that she had paid for herself with her share of the prize money her team had won in the Grand Prix.
"Aki's been busy lately", Leo pointed out as he unzipped his large bag carrying his Duel Board and put it on the ground.
"Yeah, she barely comes with us to the garage nowadays", Luna agreed while adjusting the protective gear on her elbows, standing on her Duel Board. "But then again, Yusei and Estelle are busy studying too, so we shouldn't bother them so much."
"Don't worry, Luna!" Leo grinned as he stepped onto his Duel Board and strapped his shoes before he attached the core to his Duel Disk, powering up the skateboard. "Yusei texted back and said we're welcome to his place today! He'll surely tell us when we can't come over."
"Yeah, and I appreciate him helping us with the physics and math homework", Luna smiled brightly and straightened her skirt. After the incident with Neo Arcadia Movement, mainly with the Professor who had attempted to touch Luna, Leo had grown extra protective over her. He demanded her to wear spats under the skirt if she ever rode her Duel Board in her school uniform or other dresses.
"Hey, Leo, Luna!" Dexter called as he and the twins' friends ran to them. "You're gonna share some of the notes from Yusei with us tomorrow?"
"Of course we will!" Leo grinned widely. "We're gonna ace the tests for this term easily!"
"Huh? Isn't Aki with you?" Patty asked as she looked around for the older Signer.
"No, she's in cram school", Luna replied.
"Aww…", Patty scratched her cheek with a soft pink blush. She had become a fan of Aki's after the World Racing Grand Prix, so she was hoping to see her idol and ask her some questions about Dueling.
"Tell Yusei we said hi and we'll come visit him someday", Bob smiled.
"Okay!" Leo grinned before giving his sister a competitive glance. "Let's go, Luna! Acceleration!" He skated through the open gates of the Duel Academy, driving out to the side of the busy road.
"Wait for me!" Luna shouted and gave her friends a quick wave before she took off. "See you tomorrow!"
"Bye, Luna, Leo!" Miyuki waved her hand until Luna rounded the corner of the wall surrounding the academy grounds.
"I wish we could Turbo Duel like the twins…", Bob sighed, feeling a little jealous of how the twins had a way to experience Turbo Duels like the grown-ups.
"Shall we ask Yusei to build us Duel Boards too?" Patty asked.
"No, let's not", Dexter responded. "The twins told us that Yusei's busy studying for the university exam, so we shouldn't bother him with our requests."
Miyuki shifted on her feet, looking a little anxious about riding a Duel Board. "I…don't think I want a Duel Board", she confessed. "I'm scared to fall and hurt myself in the middle of a Turbo Duel."
"You don't think the twins got hurt too when they used their Duel Boards for the first time?" Sly appeared out of nowhere, scaring Miyuki so much she jumped to the side, surprised to see the quiet boy.
"Sly?" Bob blinked in surprise. "I thought you've already left."
Sly shrugged his shoulders. "Library", he nonchalantly responded before he walked away.
"Emo as always", Bob commented in a respectful manner. After spending time around Sly, the children had learned he was the quiet type and they respected that.
"Do you think they'll ever make Duel Runners safe for kids to ride?" Patty wondered.
"Maybe", Dexter pushed his glasses up his nose. "I've heard rumors about KaibaCorp being interested in a private entrepreneur who's working on a new type of Duel Runner."
"Really…?" Miyuki mumbled. "How do you know that?"
"My mom works for KaibaCorp, so she gives me and Dad some intel every now and then. Of course, she doesn't leak any confidential information, so I don't know what's happening behind closed doors."

The twins sat on a couch holding their heads above their books scattered across the now messy coffee table, trying to solve the next question of their homework. "Umm… So you take the number we get after calculating the weight…", Luna mumbled hesitantly. Leo scratched the back of his head with his pencil, feeling frustrated of not figuring out the answer.
Yusei wrote some notes above the formula Luna had written down in her notebook. "Take that number and multiply it with the first number you've calculated and then use that number you'll get to add to the last part of the equation."
"Oh! So that's how you solve it!" Leo smiled in relief before he quickly calculated the numbers in his notebook. "I've got it!"
"Me too", Luna nodded, a small sense of pride swelling up in her soul. "Thank you, Yusei."
"You're so good at explaining stuff you could be a great physics teacher, Yusei", Leo complimented the leader of Team 5D's.
"You think so?" Yusei chuckled, amused by the twins' reactions.
"Yeah, you explain things way better than our current physics teacher", Leo nodded.
Yusei leaned back against his chair and crossed his arms, pondering about the option of being a teacher. "Perhaps it could be a secondary option of my career in the future…", he mumbled out loud to himself.
"Mom and dad sometimes tell us we should consider other options in case our first choice of career doesn't work out", Luna shared her wisdom with him.
"Yeah, they keep nagging me about focusing on something meaningful instead of aiming for an uncertain future in the Dueling world", Leo said and rested his hands on the back of his head. "Dueling is my passion and I want to pursue that."
"You both are still young. You might find something else that'll grab your attention and you choose that instead", Yusei assured the twins. "Do you have other hobbies besides Duel Monsters?"
"Well… I enjoy growing vegetables", Luna confessed, a blush painting her cheeks while she twirled her hair around her finger. "I've got a corner by the pool where I have a few pots in which I grow vegetables like tomatoes, radishes and even herbs like basil and dill."
"Luna's been growing them in secret from our parents and her vegetables taste amazing!" Leo bragged. "Mom and dad don't want us playing in 'dirt', so she's only growing them when we know they'll be away for a looong time."
"I see", Yusei nodded. "It sounds like you like biology, Luna."
"Yes, I do", Luna admitted proudly, none of the trio hearing the gentle footsteps ascending the stairs. "I've got good grades in biology too, so I might become a biologist."
"That might actually suit you, Luna", Estelle spoke as she got on the floor, carrying a tote bag on her shoulder that was packed with art supplies.
"Hi, Estelle!" Leo greeted with a wave of his hand.
"Hi. Are your classes done for today already?" Yusei asked his girlfriend as she walked around the table, a soft smile printed on his face.
"Yeah, we finished a little early because the art teacher had an important meeting", Estelle replied, gently fixing Yusei's bangs after she had kissed him on the forehead. She pulled back and noticed the notebooks. "You're helping the twins with homework?"
"Yep! Yusei's a great teacher!" Leo grinned brightly. "He could become both a physics teacher and scientist!"
Estelle rested a hand on her boyfriend's shoulder, giggling at the young boy's enthusiasm. "Maybe you can part-time work as a tutor while you'll study in the uni, Yusei?"
"It depends on how much spare time I'll get between the lectures", Yusei replied with a soft frown. "I've heard from Miyuki there's quite a workload in university. You need to study a lot on your own to really grasp all aspects of certain lectures."
"It was just a suggestion", Estelle assured him and softly squeezed his shoulder. "Just make sure you don't add too much pressure on yourself once you're in. I don't want to see you crash and burn by all the responsibilities resting on your shoulders."
The leader of the Signers placed his hand on top of the feminine hand and gently wrapped his fingers around it, enjoying the warmth emitting from his lover. "Don't worry. I know where my limits are."
"Sometimes I think you midjudge your limits", Estelle retorted with a soft glare before it got replaced by a smile. "If I see you looking exhausted, I'll remind you to take a break."
"Thank you", Yusei's lips twitched a little upward, his heart feeling warm that he had someone who was looking after him.
"Ugh!" Leo pretended to gag at the scene. "Don't get all cozy in front of us!"
"Are you jealous, Leo?" Estelle asked with a chuckle.
"No!" Leo exclaimed, his cheeks red and ripe as tomatoes.
Luna giggled at her brother's reaction. She knew he was embarrassed seeing one of his idols being cuddly with his girlfriend. She herself thought they looked adorable and wondered if she will ever find someone special when she becomes a grown-up.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot", Estelle snapped her fingers, remembering something. "Leo, Luna, are you two free this weekend?"
"Uh, yeah", Leo nodded, confused by the question. "Why're you asking?"
Estelle grabbed her smartphone and opened LINE. "My friends, Caius and Aeon, are looking for volunteers to try out the prototypes of their Wheelie Breakers."
"Wheelie Breakers?" the twins asked simultaneously.
"A Duel Runner for children", the brunette explained.
Leo's pencil slipped out of his hand and fell onto his notebook after he froze by the news. "Duel Runner? For kids like us?" he asked, his voice sounding surprised, gesturing between himself and his sister.
"Yes", Estelle nodded. "They've been working on the Breakers for some time and now they've completed the first two prototypes. KaibaCorp is interested in buying the rights for the Breakers, so Caius and Aeon need two young Duelists who can help test driving them for an investment meeting this coming Saturday."
"I'm in!" Leo bounced on his feet, raising his dominant hand high up in the air, excitement painted across his bright face. "I wanna ride one!"
Estelle nodded to the male twin, acknowledging his eagerness to participate in the test runs. She turned to Luna who quietly nibbled the end of her pencil. "What about you, Luna? Do you want to help us out?"
"Umm…", Luna hummed to herself, closing her eyes to think about the matter.
"C'mon, Luna! Please say yes!" Leo begged her. "I've always wanted to Turbo Duel you ever since we got our Duel Boards! And I finally wanna settle the score of who's the strongest between us!"
Luna glanced at her eager brother. He was giving her innocent puppy eyes which she couldn't resist, especially when Leo got excited about stuff related to Duel Monsters. She recalled the time they had trained together to get perfect control over their Duel Boards before Lester interrupted them and forced them into their first Turbo Duel. This time she could choose whether she wanted to test drive a new type of Duel Runner that could expand the possibilities for young Duelists participating in Turbo Duels.
"Okay", Luna nodded, finally giving an answer. "I'll help."
"Alright!" Leo pumped his fist in the air victoriously. "We're gonna have so much fun!"
"But we need to practice driving those Breakers before Saturday", Luna pointed out. "I don't want to cause an accident during the inspection."
"Oh! Right…", Leo's mood dropped a bit.
Estelle cleared her throat to get the twins' attention before their minds could wander off. "Caius and Aeon are ready to book a private course this whole week for you to test ride the Breakers until Saturday, so… Can I call and tell them you're going to help them?"
"Yes!" Leo bounced eagerly on his feet with a hand raised.
"Does this mean we'll get to start training right away?" Luna asked while Estelle held her smartphone to her ear after she had tapped on the number with Caius and Aeon's workshop's name.
"I'm going to ask them about it. One sec", the brunette replied seconds before Aeon's partner answered the call.
"Welcome to the Adventurous Garage. This is Blaze speaking."
"Hi, Blaze. It's Estelle. Is Caius or Aeon nearby? It's about the Wheelie Breakers…"
XXXXXXXXXX
For the rest of the week, the siblings went to the private course that Caius and Aeon managed to book to practice driving the Wheelie Breakers. Compared to a real Duel Runner, the Breakers were a whole lot slower for safety precaution for children's sake. Leo had complained about the speed limit, wishing to ride in the same speed as his Duel Board that was a little faster than the Breakers, but there were regulations the inventors had to follow for the sake of the investment.
Leo's complains vanished just as soon as they arrived when he started riding a Breaker. Even with the speed limit of forty-five kilometers per hour, it felt a lot faster than what he had first expected. It was also easy to maneuver the Breaker, even though it took some time for the twins to get used to it after a few mishaps by hairpin bends. Thankfully, none of them sustained any major damage, except for a few bruises. After getting complete control over the Breakers, they had practiced Turbo Duels to get used to multitasking by driving and Dueling and keeping an eye on the course at the same time.
They received instructions from Caius and Aeon on how the Wheelie Breakers worked and even gave them each a manual they could study and memorize the controls. The manuals even contained blueprints of the Breakers and a list of components, which Luna skipped since at this point she wasn't planning on getting a Breaker on her own if they were to ever get manufactured.
The inspection was going to take place at Kaiba's private course where he practiced his driving skills. He only gave access to strangers if they had business with him like this day with Caius and Aeon's Wheelie Breakers. The other people who had accompanied them were Blaze, Estelle, Yusei due to his mechanical skills if Caius and Aeon required some assistance, Kaiba and even his son Seth. In fact, Seth had been the one who contacted Caius and Aeon's workshop after he heard about their invention from Estelle. He got intrigued for a possible investment and even accepted it as a first challenge by his father to see if he had what it takes to turn an investment into profits.
Caius and Aeon were helping the twins to get settled with the Breakers and gave them some last minute instructions. The Breakers had three wheels each and had different frame designs similar to go karts. Leo's Breaker was of the bulky type and its main color was blue with accents of white and black. Luna's Breaker was of the sleek version with red color dominating the frame, but it was complemented with soft pink and white stripes. The twins had their safe gear and helmets on plus Wrist Dealers on their left arms matching the colors of their Breakers.
"You're going to do great", Caius told the twins before he straightened up after he had been down on one knee for some time. "Just do what you guys did in the practice runs and it'll be okay."
"Gotcha!" Leo nodded, gripping the steering handles eagerly. "You ready, Luna?"
"I think so", the female twin responded after she had inserted her Deck in the Deck holder. "I'm a little nervous though."
Aeon patted Luna on her shoulder, giving her an encouraging smile. "Hey, don't worry too much. Drive as fast as you want and have fun. That's the most important thing", he told her.
"Not exactly, Aeon, but I get it", Caius chuckled. "Just don't overdo it, kids."
"I'll try holding myself back", Leo grinned.
The two best friends walked back to the pit stop where Blaze was waiting for them. The rest of the crowd sat on the gallery behind the pit stop. Estelle and Yusei waved their hands to the twins shouting encouraging words.
"Good luck, guys!" Estelle yelled.
"Take it easy!" Yusei shouted.
Caius put a pair of headset on his head and spoke to the twins. "Test, test. Leo and Luna, do you read me?" his voice echoed inside the kids' helmets.
"Loud and clear!" Leo responded.
"Same here", Luna nodded.
"Good. Now, to commence the Turbo Duel, you have to activate Speed World 2", Caius instructed them.
The twins glanced at each other quickly and nodded simultaneously before they yelled the magic words and pressed the button on their Breakers to activate said card. "Field Spell; Speed World 2, set!"
The Solid Vision was set up and the holographic countdown lamp appeared above the start line. The twins eyed the lamp while their Breakers rumbled by the running engines. Leo messed a little with the throttle, causing the engine roar like a lion, slightly scaring Luna. The girl recovered from the surprise as the lamp beeped when the countdown was done.
"Go!" Leo yelled and drove off at the same time as his sister. They drove side by side with their eyes locked on the first corner of the course. The male twin cast a quick eye on Luna before he made a decision. "You know what, Luna? You can go first", he announced as he slowed down his Breaker, his sister overtaking him.
Luna got a little surprised by the generous offer. Usually, Leo was the one who was eager to get first at everything to get an advantage over his opponent, but now he was being merciful toward her. "Okay. Thank you", she replied.
Luna rounded the corner with Leo right behind her tail. Now that they've passed the first corner, it was decided who was going first. "Turbo Duel! Acceleration!" the twins yelled together before they drew the top five cards of their Decks and placed them on their Wrist Dealers.
Luna: 4000 LP = SPC 0
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0
"I go first! Draw!" Luna shouted and drew her sixth card. She added it to the Wrist Dealer before grabbing another card from it. "I summon Bird of Roses in attack mode!"
The bird made of leaves and roses shrieked when it exited the gate and joined its master on the field, flying above her like a guardian.
Bird of Roses, Level 4: ATK 1800
"I place one card facedown and end my turn", Luna finished her turn after setting the secret card, having three cards left in her hand.
"You've set your field up nicely, Luna", Leo complimented his twin before giving her back a determined glare and reached for his Deck. "But my Morphtronics will beat you! My turn!"
Luna: 4000 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
He took a quick glance at the sixth card he had just drawn and placed it on the Wrist Dealer before he took another card. "I summon Gadget Gamer in attack mode!"
A machine box pushed itself out of a gate next to Leo and floated up while unfolding itself, revealing its robot form. Its front shapeshifted into a laser cannon while the rest of the frame expanded on its back, revealing a braced backpack with square-like missiles ready to fire by command.
Gadget Gamer, Level 3: ATK 300
"Gadget Gamer's effect! When it's Normal summoned, I can add one Level 1 machine Monster from my Deck to the hand! I choose Level 1 Morphtronic Celfon!" Leo called out as his Deck holder shuffled the Deck before it finished and had the top card sticking out. The boy took the card and added it to his Wrist Dealer. "I activate Gadget Gamer's second effect! I Tribute it to Special summon Morphtronic Celfon from my hand in attack mode and Gadget Hauler from my Deck in attack mode!"
Gadget Gamer's frame began glowing as it swiftly folded back to its first form. The box released a light and vanished to get replaced by a yellow cellular telephone and a truck hauling a white unmarked container. The cellphone transformed into its robot self, revealing one of Leo's iconic Morphtronic Monsters, while the truck braked next to it with a soft puff from the engine.
Morphtronic Celfon, Level 1: ATK 100
Gadget Hauler, Level 6: ATK 1300
"Morphtronic Celfon's effect! Once per turn, while in attack mode, I can roll a six-sided die and the number it lands on, I can look at the same amount of cards from the top of my Deck and Special summon a Level 4 or lower Morphtronic Monster ignoring its summoning conditions! The other cards are shuffled back to my Deck!"
A rolling die appeared on the screen on Leo's dashboard just as Morphtronic Celfon's number buttons from one to six randomly glowed in the same pace as the digital die. Leo kept his eyes on the die until it landed on number…
"Two?!" Leo gaped in pure shock by the small number. He held back a disappointed growl and checked the top two cards. The good news is he needed a Level 1 Monster and he had the luck on his side. "I Special summon Morphtronic Lantron in defense mode!"
A large dark blue flashlight was summoned to the field while Leo shuffled the other card back to his Deck. Just like with Gadget Hauler that had remained in its truck form since it got summoned, Morphtronic Lantron remained in its alternative form.
Morphtronic Lantron, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 200
"A Tuner…", Luna mumbled quietly to herself, realizing Leo was probably going to Synchro summon. She had hunch on which Synchro Monster her brother was aiming for, but he had other Monsters in his Extra Deck now after he got some good pulls from packs lately, so he could summon anything.
"I tune Level 1 Morphtronic Lantron with Level 6 Gadget Hauler! Docking strength with courage to protect world peace! Synchro summon! Envoy of love and justice, Power Tool Dragon!"
The selected Monsters shot up to the sky while Morphtronic Lantron transformed into a single tuning circle around Gadget Hauler. The non-Tuner Monster's body became transparent and revealed its six Level Stars before a bright light engulfed it. Power Tool Dragon screeched when he got Synchro summoned in the midst of the light, relieved to be out on the field and assist his master.
Power Tool Dragon, Level 7: ATK 2300
"I knew it", Luna smiled, happy to see the disguised Signer Dragon even though she had a small disadvantage at the moment. "You were going for Power Tool Dragon."
"And I'm not done!" Leo grinned. "It's time to battle! Power Tool Dragon, attack Bird of Roses with Crafty Break!"
Power Tool Dragon growled before he flew toward the plant bird. Bird of Roses turned around to face the incoming Synchro Monster, but met its fate when the dragon's screwdriver pierced it into pieces. Luna grunted as the remnants of her Monster bounced on her body, decreasing her Life Points.
Luna: 4000 LP – 3500 LP = SPC 1
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 1
"Bird of Roses' effect!" Luna shouted quickly after she had recovered from the attack."When it's destroyed by battle by an opponent's attacking Monster and sent to the Graveyard while being in attack mode, I can Special summon two plant Tuner Monsters from my Deck in defense mode! I Special summon Naturia Tulip and Natura Camellia!"
The two red flowers exited a gate each next to Luna and took their place on the field, their vibrant colors turning dark blue due to being summoned in defense position. The tulip Monster giggled softly as it released a tiny cloud of pollen from the top of its head.
Naturia Tulip, Level 2, Tuner: DEF 1500
Naturia Camellia, Level 4, Tuner: DEF 700
"Naturia Camellia's effect! When it's Normal or Special summoned, I can send one Naturia card from my Deck to the Graveyard. I select Naturia Mole Cricket!"
Leo narrowed his eyes while his sister sent the selected card to the Graveyard. He was aware of Naturia Mole Cricket's effect and it was a bothersome one, especially if Luna planned to Synchro summon on her next turn, considering the two Tuner Monsters. He had to prepare himself for it.
"Main Phase 2! I place three cards facedown and end my turn!" the male twin called as he set three cards on the field.
"Okay! My turn!" Luna shouted and began her turn by drawing a card from her Deck.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
"I summon Naturia Cliff in attack mode!"
A living stone tablet appeared on the field with hands, feet and a pair of red eyes. It had red moss on its head like hair and had some mushrooms growing and branches with sharp thorns as hair accessories.
Naturia Cliff, Level 4: ATK 1500
"Uh-oh…", Leo mumbled with a cold sweat, mentally preparing himself for Luna to summon either Ancient Fairy Dragon or one of her Naturia Synchro Monsters.
"I tune Level 2 Naturia Tulip with Level 4 Naturia Cliff!" Luna announced as the two Monsters performed the ritual of Synchro summoning. "The nature cries for help from Seiryuu! It shall answer by bringing the spring and bless the soil with its rain! Synchro summon! Appear now, Naturia Barkion!"
The Naturia Monsters released a bright light behind Luna and her Wheelie Breaker, the force ruffling her pigtails sticking through the helmet that was actually the breath coming from a brown and silver serpent dragon floating above her, its scales clad with fresh green moss and stone claws.
Naturia Barkion, Level 6: ATK 2500
"Oh no…", Leo gritted his teeth, quickly realizing he was in a pickle.
"Naturia Cliff's effect!" Luna called out. "When it's sent from the field to the Graveyard, I can Special summon one Level 4 or lower Naturia Monster from my Deck in attack mode! I Special summon Naturia Marron!"
A large bur fruit seed was summoned from a gate next to Naturia Barkion. A pair of eyes opened and revealed the chestnut was actually a living Duel Monster, chirping like a newborn chick.
Naturia Marron, Level 3: ATK 1200
"Naturia Mole Cricket's effect also activates! When I Special summon a Naturia Monster from the Extra Deck and Mole Cricket is my Graveyard, I can Special summon it to the field, so I summon it in defense mode!"
A small cricket that had features resembling a mole crawled out from a gate onto the field and buzzed loudly, taking up another Monster Zone on Luna's side of the field.
Naturia Mole Cricket, Level 1: DEF 0
"Naturia Marron's effect! Once per turn, I can target two Naturia Monsters in my Graveyard and shuffle them back to the Deck before I draw a card! I choose Naturia Cliff and Naturia Tulip!"
Naturia Marron chirped as it floated higher up in the sky so it was hovering above the female Signer. It started vibrating its body causing pollen to rain upon Luna, making her glow in a soft green aura. Luna took the two selected cards that got ejected from the Graveyard slot and shuffled them back to her Deck before she drew a card.
"I now tune Level 4 Naturia Camellia with Level 1 Naturia Mole Cricket! The nature is reaching its end of the summer! Byakko shall enter the forest and bring the autumn with its fire colors! Synchro summon! Appear now, Naturia Beast!"
The chosen Monsters performed the summoning ritual and were replaced by a green tiger wearing armor made by the best bark the forest could offer it, fresh moss protecting its back.
Naturia Beast, Level 5: ATK 2200
"You're not holding back, Luna…", Leo commented, glaring at his sister's two Synchro Monsters that dominated the field.
"I kind of have a reputation I need to maintain", his sister giggled in response before her eyes turned serious. "Battle! Naturia Barkion, attack Power Tool Dragon!"
The dragon screeched as answer and flew toward the machine dragon. It opened its mouth and fired an emerald green beam at the disguised Signer Dragon. Power Tool Dragon used his shovel as shield to protect his head from the move, but it was to no use. The machine dragon exploded into thousands of pieces.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 2
Leo: 4000 LP – 3800 LP = SPC 2
"Naturia Beast, attack Morphtronic Celfon!" Luna commanded.
The feline screeched in response and dashed toward the yellow robot, unsheathing its dark green claws to slash its prey into pieces for the sake of its master.
"I activate Morphtransition!" Leo shouted quickly in panic, activating one of his set cards. "When a Morphtronic Monster is targeted for an attack, that attack is negated and the Morphtronic Monster changes its battle position!"
"I chain that with Naturia Barkion's Quick Effect!" Luna countered. "When a Trap card is activated, I can banish two cards from my Graveyard and negate the activation and destroy the card! I banish Bird of Roses and Naturia Camellia from the Graveyard!"
Morphtronic Celfon was just about to get enveloped by a magnetic field that would protect it from Naturia Beast's attack when Naturia Barkion intervened. The earth dragon let out a screech-like soundwave at the activated Trap card. The card turned grey, negating its activation, before it shattered into pieces. It left Morphtronic Celfon with nothing to protect itself. Naturia Beast roared before it slashed the cellular robot into pieces, dealing a major amount of damage to Leo's Life Points.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 2
Leo: 3800 LP – 1700 LP = SPC 2
Leo screamed in panic as remnants of his Morphtronic Monster bounced on him, making him feel like he was getting poked by multiple needles. Unfortunately for him, the torture was far from over.
"Naturia Marron, attack Leo directly!" Luna shouted.
The chestnut Monster chirped and floated over to Leo. It vibrated its body like it did before for its effect, but now it sent a shower of brown thorns at the male twin, some of them knocking against his helmet like hail.
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" the young Signer grunted as his skin got a little bruised by the sharp thorns while his Life Points dropped down to the danger zone.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 2
Leo: 1700 LP – 500 LP = SPC 2
"Please tell me you're done, Luna!" Leo told his sister.
"I'm actually not done!" she answered. "Main Phase 2! I play Speed Spell – Overboost to gain four Speed Counters, but my Speed Counters will drop down to one at the end of this turn!" Her Breaker got just slightly faster, but it never went past the max speed limit.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 6
Leo: 500 LP = SPC 2
Leo could tell his sister was planning something huge.
"I now play the Speed Spell – Speed Fusion!" Luna shouted.
"No!" Leo screeched in a tone that was one pitch higher than usual for him, now starting to fear for his life.
"I can activate this Speed Spell while I have four or more Speed Counters", Luna explained. "I fuse Naturia Barkion and Naturia Beast to Fusion summon Naturia Exterio!"
The two Naturia Synchro Monsters' bodies turned into liquid as they performed the new ritual of Fusion summoning. They swirled together into a light ball that imploded once the two bodies were absorbed, using their essence to create the strongest Naturia Monster of Luna's Deck. A large tiger-like beast floated down to the course, having features similar to the two Monsters that had just been on the field. Its green body was clad in scales by Naturia Barkion and had a headgear resembling said Synchro dragon's head.
Naturia Exterio, Level 10: ATK 2800
"No way…!" Leo gasped at the sight of the fusion beast hovering above his sister. "I can't beat that thing!"
"You have to try, Leo", Luna shook her head before she grabbed an additional card from her Wrist Dealer. "I place one card facedown and end my turn." Her Breaker automatically slowed down as her Speed Counters dropped down to one due to Speed Spell – Overboost.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 1
Leo: 500 LP = SPC 2
The female twin realized she was actually having fun with this Turbo Duel. It felt different compared to the practice Duels earlier the same week. Now it felt like they both were taking it seriously. "Leo… I'm having so much fun!"
"Me too!" her brother replied. "I feel like a real Turbo Duelist riding a Duel Runner!"
The twins drove past the gallery and pit stop with all eyes on them. The Kaibas didn't really much attention to the Duel itself. They were focused on the Wheelie Breakers, silently forming a review of their personal opinion about the go karts.
Leo played with the throttle, the engine roaring as he caught up to his sister. "Be ready for the best comeback ever, Luna! My turn!" he shouted and drew a card to commence his turn.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 1 – SPC 2
Leo: 500 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Leo had one card in his hand that could save his bacon, but he didn't know if Luna was going to negate the activation. A Turbo Duel is meant to entertain everyone and not end fast like some Ground Duels. Besides, the children's mission was to show the Wheelie Breaker's potential to the interested parties.
The boy held back a grunt and went with his gut. "I play Speed Spell – High Speed Crash! I can activate it while I have two or more Speed Counters. I select one of my cards and another one on the field to destroy. I choose one of my facedown cards and your Naturia Exterio, Luna!" He repeated his silent prayers, hoping Luna wouldn't negate the Speed Spell with Naturia Exterio's effect.
To his surprise, the female twin didn't activate her Naturia Fusion Monster's effect and allowed the two cards to get destroyed. Naturia Exterio screeched as painful cracks were formed on its body before it shattered like glass, leaving Luna's field with only Naturia Marron protecting her.
"Huh?" Leo couldn't help but gasp in surprise by Luna's decision of allowing him to destroy their cards.
"Oh no! I forgot about Naturia Exterio's effect!" Luna bonked herself on the helmet. She shared a glance with Leo while they drove side by side. The male twin quickly realized Luna had purposefully not activated her Fusion Monster's effect to prolong the Turbo Duel. He grinned back to her and sped up a little before continuing his turn.
"That can happen when you're under pressure, Luna", Leo called as he pressed a button on the dashboard that was connected to the Graveyard. "I activate Morphtronic Impact Return in my Graveyard! I remove it from play to target and Special summon one Morphtronic Monster from the Graveyard in defense mode! Return, Morphtronic Celfon!"
The selected Trap card was ejected from the Graveyard slot along with Morphtronic Celfon's card. Leo grabbed both cards and placed the Monster card on the Duel Disk while he pocketed the Trap card in his pants. The yellow cellphone was back to the field, but it remained in its alternative form.
Morphtronic Celfon, Level 1: DEF 100
"Next I summon Morphtronic Scopen from my hand in defense mode!"
A microscope machine Monster jumped out of a gate after it got summoned to the field. It stayed in its alternative form, floating silently next to Celfon.
Morphtronic Scopen, Level 3, Tuner: DEF 1400
"Morphtronic Scopen's effect! While it's in defense mode, its Level becomes 4!"
The microscope made a soft beep noise as it gained another Level Star due to its own effect.
Morphtronic Scopen, Level 3 – Level 4, Tuner: DEF 1400
"I activate my third Trap card; Morphtronic Mix-up! When I control two or more Morphtronic Monsters, I can select two cards my opponent controls and they must destroy one of those cards! I select your Naturia Marron and your facedown card, Luna!"
Luna made a quick decision while Leo's Trap card collected energy to destroy one of the two chosen cards. "I'll let you destroy my facedown card, Leo."
Her card flipped up and revealed its identity; Naturia Sacred Tree. Leo's Trap card fired electricity that electrocuted the revealed Trap card and destroyed it with ease. "But Naturia Sacred Tree's effect activates now!" Luna quickly called out. "When it's sent to the Graveyard, I can add one Naturia card from my Deck to the hand. I choose Naturia Tulip!"
"You do that while I play my Speed Spell – Angel Baton!" her twin called back. "I can activate this card while I have two or more Speed Counters. I draw two cards and send one from my hand to the Graveyard!"
Leo drew the next two cards of his Deck and checked them before he immediately discarded one of them since his hand didn't contain any other cards, except for the one he had kept now. "I tune Level 4 Morphtronic Scopen with Level 1 Morphtronic Celfon! Pursue her to the ends of hell. Appear, sacred soul! Synchro summon! Come out, Goyo Chaser!"
A new Monster based on the Goyo archetype that Officer Trudge was known for replaced the two Monsters that got tuned for the Synchro summoning. He had a larger version of the Jutte weapon that Goyo Guardian had with a rope attached to it, made to capture its target.
Goyo Chaser, Level 5: ATK 1900
"I activate Naturia Mole Cricket's effect in my Graveyard!" Luna shouted. "When my opponent Special summons a Monster from the Extra Deck, I can Special summon Naturia Mole Cricket from the Graveyard!"
The brown cricket flew out from a gate next to Luna and buzzed loudly before it crouched down into defense mode, providing the girl some protection.
Naturia Mole Cricket, Level 1: DEF 0
"Nice try, Luna, but it won't work!" Leo retorted. "Battle! Goyo Chaser, attack Naturia Mole Cricket!"
Goyo Chaser twisted around his lasso with the Jutte before he threw the weapon toward the annoying cricket. Naturia Mole Cricket chirped in pain when the Jutte struck and destroyed it into pieces.
"Why did you attack my Naturia Mole Cricket, Leo?" Luna asked confusedly. The logical target would've been Naturia Marron so Leo could've inflicted a small amount of damage.
"Because I'm activating Goyo Chaser's effect!" Leo replied. "When Goyo Chaser destroys an opponent's Monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, I can Special summon that Monster to my side of the field with its attack points cut in half!"
Goyo Chaser twisted his lasso before he threw the Jutte into a gate that appeared on the field. The rope wrapped itself around Naturia Mole Cricket before the Synchro Monster pulled the little cricket to Leo's side of the field.
Naturia Mole Cricket, Level 1: DEF 0
Luna gritted her teeth, now realizing Leo's plan. "You took Mole Cricket from me so I won't be able to use it for either a Tribute or Synchro summon!"
"Yep! So as long as Naturia Mole Cricket is on my side, I won't have to worry about you summoning it over and over again", Leo chuckled amusingly. "I end my turn with this."
"My turn!" Luna shouted and drew the top card of her Deck.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 2 – SPC 3
Leo: 500 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
The girl's eyes widened when she checked her new card. It was one she had recently added to her Deck and it now came at the perfect timing to get the advantage back. "I summon Staysailor Romarin in attack mode!"
A young humanoid girl with a pair of blue pigtails dressed in a sailor suit similar to a common Japanese middle-school uniform for girl appeared on the field holding a pair of red and white flags. She giggled as she waved the flags and winked cutely at Goyo Chaser who blushed under the heavy white makeup.
Staysailor Romarin, Level 4, Tuner: ATK 1600
"What the heck is that?" Leo asked, feeling his cheeks burning by the sight of the cute Duel Monster. "I've never seen it before."
"It's a new Level 4 Monster I added to my Deck", Luna explained. "It's also a Tuner Monster, so I can Synchro summon."
"A Level 4 Tuner Monster…", Leo trailed off as his eyes widened in horror, realizing what Luna was aiming for. "No way! Don't tell me!"
The girl ignored her brother's plead and proceeded with the Special summoning. "I tune Level 4 Staysailor Romarin with Level 3 Naturia Marron! The holy light of protection, shine now and become eternal life! Synchro summon! A regal birth, Ancient Fairy Dragon!"
The humanoid Monster and the little chestnut performed the Synchro summoning and left the field in a bright light that shone in rainbow colors. A pair of large pixie wings expanded from the light followed by the long blue serpent body of Luna's Signer Dragon.
Ancient Fairy Dragon, Level 7: ATK 2100
The dragon screeched softly while flying above Luna like the eternal protector she was of the youngest member of the Signers.
"Ancient Fairy Dragon…", Leo mumbled with a cold sweat.
"Battle! Ancient Fairy Dragon, attack Goyo Chaser with Eternal Sunshine!" Luna shouted.
Ancient Fairy Dragon nodded silently before she flapped her wings and flew toward Leo's Synchro Monster. She spread her wings open with a shriek and emitted a scorching white light from them like a pair of spotlights, scorching Goyo Chaser into ashes.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 3
Leo: 500 LP – 300 LP = SPC 4
"I place one card facedown and end my turn", Luna set a card before she passed the turn to her twin brother. "I might win this on my next turn, so you better come up with a good counterattack, Leo."
"I hope so too, Luna", he answered and drew his next card. "My turn!"
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 3 – SPC 4
Leo: 300 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5
"This card literally came at the right time!" Leo couldn't help but shriek in joy. "I play the Speed Spell – Vision Wind! I can activate it when I have two or more Speed Counters. I can Special summon a Level 2 or lower Monster from my Graveyard, but it gets destroyed at the end of this turn. I Special summon Morphtronic Celfon in attack mode!"
The stubborn cellphone robot returned to the field for the umpteenth time, transforming into its bipedal form and punching the air.
Morphtronic Celfon, Level 1: ATK 100
"I activate his effect! Roll the die again, Celfon!" the male Signer announced.
The same digital die rolled across the Breaker's screen with Morphtronic Celfon's chest glowing and beeping, waiting to land on a number. Leo waited anxiously for the result. He needed to get a big number so he could check as many cards as possible to Special summon a Morphtronic Monster that could help him turn the Turbo Duel around. The die came to a slow halt and landed on number 6 in the exact same time as the same button blinked on Celfon.
"Yes! A six! Let's go!" Leo cheered happily and quickly drew the top six cards. His grin widened at one certain card, assuming he had the Duel in a bag now. "I Special summon Morphtronic Scannen in defense mode!"
A transparent scanner with a yellow frame appeared on the field while Leo shuffled the other cards back to his Deck. The machine beeped like it was trying to scan something, but it had no paperwork so it quit making noises.
Morphtronic Scannen, Level 6, Tuner: DEF 600
"And now I play the Speed Spell – Overspeed! I can only activate it while I have four or more Speed Counters. I reduce my Speed Counters to zero to add a Level 3 or lower Monster card and one Spell or Trap card from my Graveyard to my hand. I pick Level 1 Morphtronic Lantron and Morphtransition!"
The speed on Leo's Breaker decreased immensely and drove far behind Luna while Leo added the two chosen cards to his Wrist Dealer.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 4
Leo: 300 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 0
"The price I have to pay is I won't gain any Speed Counters for the next three turns, but I'm fine with that", Leo shrugged. "I summon Morphtronic Lantron in defense mode!"
The flashlight robot floated out from a gate next to Scannen and remained in its alternative form, sensing it was soon going to receive a duty that only it could fulfill.
Morphtronic Lantron, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 200
"I tune Level 6 Morphtronic Scannen with Level 1 Morphtronic Celfon! The will of Masamune Date shall continue living, his katana protecting the world from destruction! Synchro summon! Raise up, Samurai Destroyer!"
The two machine Monsters flew up to the sky and created the Synchro summoning light, replacing them with the new Synchro Monster. It was a huge robot with its frame clad in ancient traditional armor from the Edo period with the colors of fire, even though it was an EARTH monster, a katana sheathed and strapped onto its back.
Samurai Destroyer, Level 7: ATK 2600
"I activate my Trap; Bottomless Trap Hole!" Luna yelled out quickly. "When my opponent Special summons a Monster with 1500 or more attack points, it's destroyed and removed from the field!"
An ominous wormhole appeared underneath Samurai Destroyer and made it sink into it while the robot got destroyed by the force. Remnants of the Synchro Monster got absorbed by the dark wormhole, leaving no traces behind of the samurai. The girl realized her brother hadn't react to his new Monster's destruction. Instead, she got a little confused when she heard Leo laugh heartily.
"I got you now, Luna!" the male twin grinned. "Samurai Destroyer's effect activates! When it leaves the field because of my opponent's card effect, I can target one machine Monster in my Graveyard and Special summon it!"
Luna gasped in terror at the development of the Duel. "You knew my Trap card was going to destroy your Monster!" she realized. "You summoned Samurai Destroyer to use his effect to bring back-"
"Return, Power Tool Dragon!" Leo shouted thrillingly, interrupting his little sister while his trusted partner flew out from the wormhole where Samurai Destroyer got sucked into, screeching in joy for coming back to the battle.
Power Tool Dragon, Level 7: ATK 2300
"Let's do this, Power Tool Dragon!" Leo cheered as his Synchro Monster and Tuner Monster flew up to the sky, preparing themselves for the next Synchro summoning. "I tune Level 1 Morphtronic Lantron with Level 7 Power Tool Dragon! The courage and power to protect the future of the planet is a revolution! Synchro summon! Evolve, Life Stream Dragon!"
The single tuning circle created by Morphtronic Lantron's essence wrapped around the machine dragon. Power Tool Dragon's armor cracked into pieces, revealing flesh and scales of the dragon beneath the disguise. The Signer Dragon screeched in relief of finally dropping his armor and showing his true self to the witnesses of this Turbo Duel.
Life Stream Dragon, Level 8, Tuner: ATK 2900
"Life Stream Dragon's effect! When he's Synchro summoned, I can restore my Life Points to 4000!"
Life Stream Dragon screeched while he radiated a light that shone upon Leo. The boy sighed in relief as he got showered by the restoration effect of his dragon partner, the heatwave tickling his skin beneath his clothes.
Luna: 3500 LP = SPC 4
Leo: 300 LP – 4000 LP = SPC 0
"You actually did it…", Luna smiled proudly at her brother, even though she knew her Signer Dragon was about to get defeated by one of its brothers.
"Battle!" Leo yelled. "Life Stream Dragon, attack Ancient Fairy Dragon! Life is Beauti-Howl!"
Ancient Fairy Dragon shrieked at her brother whose wings began glowing while he collected energy for his attack. The wings turned brighter than the sun and even the fairy dragon's wings whenever she uses her signature move. Life Stream Dragon opened his mouth and fired a beam of light at his sister dragon. The guardian of the Spirit World screeched in panic as the light beam engulfed her, scorching her body into ashes scattering around in the air, finally dealing some damage to Luna after a long delay.
Luna: 3500 LP – 2700 LP = SPC 4
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0
"I place one card facedown and end my turn! I'm gonna defeat you, Luna! Mark my word!" Leo told his sister after he set the last card in his hand, which was clearly Morphtransition.
"It's not over yet", Luna shook her head and drew her next card. "My turn!"
Luna: 2700 LP = SPC 4 – SPC 5
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0
If Luna wanted to have a chance to survive a little longer, she had to make some drastic actions. "I play Speed Spell – Dash Pilfer! I can activate it while I have four or more Speed Counters. I can take control over a defense position Monster my opponent controls until the end to this turn! Give me back Naturia Mole Cricket, Leo!"
Naturia Mole Cricket had been silent the whole time Leo had it on his field, but now it happily flew over to Luna's side, leaving Life Stream Dragon alone with no other companion. Leo annoyingly gritted his teeth, frustrated that he had to deal with the self-reviving cricket again.
"I summon Naturia Pumpkin in defense mode!" Luna called, snapping her brother out of his trance.
A lone green pumpkin rolled out onto the field from a gate and remained in the same position, giving Leo a bored expression.
Naturia Pumpkin, Level 4: DEF 800
"Naturia Pumpkin's effect! When it's Normal summoned while my opponent controls a Monster, I can Special summon one Naturia Monster from my hand! I Special summon Naturia Tulip in defense mode!"
The top of Naturia Pumpkin's head opened and shot a yellow light beam up from which a small red tulip Monster flew out. It twirled in the air like a ballerina spreading its pollen like confetti before it finished with a soft giggle.
Naturia Tulip, Level 2, Tuner: DEF 1500
"Oh boy, here we go again…", Leo muttered to himself.
"I tune Level 2 Naturia Tulip with Level 4 Naturia Pumpkin and Level 1 Naturia Mole Cricket!" Luna announced. "The nature is entering its slumber by the presence of Genbu bringing the winter and decorating the world in snow! Synchro summon! Appear now, Naturia Landoise!"
The three Naturia Monsters joined together for this Turbo Duel's final Synchro summoning, summoning the third Naturia Synchro Monster from Luna's Extra Deck. A giant rock tortoise replaced the tiny Monsters on Luna's field, clad in moss and carrying a tree on its shell. It inhaled air and blew it out through its nostrils, crouching into defense position.
Naturia Landoise, Level 7: DEF 1600
"Naturia Mole Cricket's effect! It's Special summoned to the field in defense mode!"
The cricket crawled out of a gate and flew up to Naturia Landoise to rest on top of its head, keeping an eye on Leo and his Signer Dragon.
Naturia Mole Cricket, Level 1: DEF 0
"I end my turn", Luna nodded. She had no other choice but to rely on defense to survive a couple more rounds and regain the advantage if she can draw the right card.
"My turn!" Leo shouted and commenced his turn by drawing a card from his Deck.
Luna: 2700 LP = SPC 5 – SPC 6
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0
"I summon Morphtronic Magnen in attack mode!" Leo subsequently summoned the Monster card.
A dark colored magnet appeared next to Life Stream Dragon before it transformed into its robot self, standing tall with its comrade.
Morphtronic Magnen, Level 3: ATK 800
"Battle! Life Stream Dragon, attack Naturia Landoise with Life is Beauti-Howl!"
Life Stream Dragon didn't waste any second to unleash his signature move at the rock tortoise. Naturia Landoise screeched like a rock slide as it got dissipated by the light, leaving no trances behind of its existence. Naturia Mole Cricket flew away from the large tortoise before it could also get hurt by the Signer Dragon's attack.
"Morphtronic Magnen, attack Naturia Mole Cricket!"
The magnet robot flew after Naturia Mole Cricket that didn't realize it was being targeted. Morphtronic Magnen clenched his hand into a fist and punched the cricket on its back. The little insect shrieked by the ambush and exploded into splinters.
"I end my turn!"
"Okay…", Luna took a deep breath and reached for her Deck. "My turn!"
Luna: 2700 LP = SPC 6 – SPC 7
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0
She inspected the card she had drawn, seeing it could be useful. However, she had a problem. The two cards currently in her hand were two Monster cards. One of them was strong enough to attack and destroy Morphtronic Magnen, but Leo had his Morphtransition facedown that could negate the attack. She had to continue relying on defense.
"I summon Spore in defense mode!"
The familiar little white fluff ball with big eyes bounced out onto the field and changed its colors to a murky blue.
Spore, Level 1, Tuner: DEF 800
"I activate Speed World 2! I remove my seven Speed Counters to draw one card from my Deck!"
Luna: 2700 LP = SPC 7 – SPC 0
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0
Luna needed to draw one card to get a small chance to turn the Turbo Duel around. She reached for her Deck and silently drew the top card. She frowned after she checked and added it to her Wrist Dealer, being unable to play it. "I end my turn."
Leo was getting a little nervous as he reached for his Deck. If Luna wasn't doing well now and was bricking, then he could have a chance to win against her, but there was a moment of hesitation. His big brother side was telling him to be kind to Luna and give her win by throwing the Turbo Duel, but they had made a promise to battle it all out on this day and settle their personal score. He had to play until a winner could emerge.
"It's…my turn!" Leo shouted and drew his card.
Luna: 2700 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 0 – SPC 1
He checked his new card and felt his heart throb in his chest by the excitement gathering in his soul. "I summon Morphtronic Datatron in attack mode!"
An orange lighter twirled around as it flew out from a gate, shapeshifting into its robot form with a flamethrower on top of its head.
Morphtronic Datatron, Level 3: ATK 1200
"I haven't seen that Monster in a long time", Luna commented softly.
"I'm gonna turn up the heat this turn!" Leo replied. "Morphtronic Datatron's effect! Once per turn, when it's in attack mode, I can Tribute one Monster to inflict 600 points of damage to you! I Tribute Morphtronic Magnen!"
Morphtronic Magnen transformed into a cloud of particles that got absorbed by Datatron. Its flamethrower burst into flames and fired its effect damage at Luna. The girl shrieked by the sudden heatwave engulfing her until the last flame tickled her body.
Luna: 2700 LP – 2100 LP = SPC 1
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 1
"This is it…", Leo mumbled to himself, realizing he was about to win. "I can win this…! Battle! Morphtronic Datatron, attack Spore!"
The lighter robot flew toward the cotton ball with a raised fist. The plant Tuner shrieked as it watched Datatron approach it. Its shriek didn't last for long before it got punched and destroyed by the robot Monster, clearing up Luna's field.
"Life Stream Dragon! Attack Luna directly with Life is Beauti-Howl!" Leo screamed at the top of his lungs.
Life Stream Dragon roared with Leo before he fired an energy beam from his mouth aimed at Luna. Luna cracked a tiny smile as she heard the attack approach her. It had been a long and thrilling Turbo Duel, but the fun was coming to its end. If she hadn't bricked, maybe she could've made a comeback, but nothing could change the outcome as she got engulfed by the Signer Dragon's warm light that reduced her Life Points to zero.
Luna: 2100 LP – 0 LP = SPC 1
Leo: 4000 LP = SPC 1
A compartment on the front of Luna's Wheelie Breaker opened and released a cloud of steam to cool down the go kart before it could overheat and create internal damage to components within the frame. The girl's Breaker came to a slow halt while Leo also slowed down to check his sister. The other Monsters and cards had dissipated as soon as Luna's Life Points reached zero, so they were by themselves several meters from the finish line.
"Are you okay, Luna?" the twin brother asked concernedly, panting to get rid of the tension in his body.
The sister gasped softly as she leaned over the dashboard of her Breaker, a sign of exhaustion after this difficult Turbo Duel. She felt her tense muscles relax now that she no longer had to multitask. While this experience had given her a thrilling feeling, she knew this was something she didn't want to focus on as a future career.
Luna took a deep breath once she had regained energy to sit up and turned to Leo with a tired smile. "I'm fine… This was…fun", she laughed sheepishly. "But I don't think…I want to try it again."
Leo returned the smile with a tired grin. "Yeah, this was fun but tough", he admitted. "But I really enjoyed it! I'm gonna try this again, hopefully with somebody else." His eyes lit up when he got an idea. "Maybe I can finally turbo duel Yusei! Or even Jack when he comes back!"
"I highly doubt it…", Luna laughed softly.
A static noise echoed in the twins' helmets before it was replaced by Caius' voice. "Hey, you two! You okay?"
"Yeah, we're fine", Leo responded.
"Great to hear", Caius sighed in relief. "We've recorded the footage of the Turbo Duel, so you can come back to the finish line. Aeon and I have further questions about your experience riding the Wheelie Breakers before we can make a deal with KaibaCorp."
"Oh boy…", Leo sighed quietly, hoping Caius wouldn't hear his complaints. "I feel like we're back at school with verbal exams…"
"I heard that, Leo!"
Leo flinched by the loud call in his helmet and exclaimed in disbelief. "How?!"
Luna giggled at her brother's reaction before they both collected themselves and drove in a calm pace to the finish line where the adults were waiting for them, eager to receive a verbal report of the twins' experience with the Wheelie Breakers.
Between the Kaiba father and son, they could sense the big potential with the child-friendly go karts. They were going to have to put up some restrictions, like not allowing the carts to be used in the traffic for the children's safety. After an hour of further discussion between the entrepreneurs and the investors, they signed a contract which gave KaibaCorp the rights to mass-produce them.
