Hey everyone! I won't lie, I literally came up with this idea on the fly and wrote it within 24 hours because I was just…so excited. I also realized that I've never really written anything about Adrien's trauma and I wanted to change that. I've also had a bit of baby fever and I blame that for this too LOL. Anyway I hope y'all enjoy this one 👀

Marinette grumbled as her eyes fluttered open. The room around her was shrouded in darkness as she picked up her phone. She squinted as the bright screen lit up, quickly glancing at the time before putting it back on the nightstand.

She groaned as the familiar aching in her bladder forced her to sit up. A yawn escaped her lips as she grabbed her phone once again and turned on the flashlight. Silently, she cursed her husband for not leaving the bathroom door ajar with the light on like she had asked, but she decided to leave that for another time.

In the dim light, she saw his sleeping figure. Beads of sweat covered his face, causing tufts of his blond hair to stick to it, making it look disheveled. He had also managed to throw the covers off of himself as he laid curled up on his side.

Marinette had long since learned to live with her husband's strange sleeping habits. She gave him a gentle pat on the head before throwing the covers off of herself and moving to the edge of the bed. Standing up was a bit of a struggle for her these days. As her belly grew bigger each week, the more she felt as if she were carrying a bowling ball around all the time.

As she tried to push herself off of the bed, a cramp ran across her stomach. "Ow!" she yelped and immediately clasped her hand over her mouth.

"Marinette!" Adrien shot up, his voice riddled with panic as he breathed heavily. "What's wrong?! Is the baby coming? Oh no…it's still way too early."

She immediately took note of his panicked expression and placed a comforting hand on his cheek. "I'm fine and so is the baby," she spoke in a soft voice as she comforted him. "I just had a little muscle cramp, that's all."

He moved away from her, holding his chest as he tried to calm his breathing. "Oh, okay," he felt his heart pounding in his chest. "D-Do you need some help?"

"I think I've got it," she answered before successfully pushing herself off of the bed. "This baby has been laying on my bladder all night , so I'll be right back."

Adrien watched through the dim light of her phone as she waddled into the bathroom, firmly shutting the door behind her. He placed a hand on his chest, feeling his heart pounding away underneath. His entire body felt as if it were on fire and his clothes were drenched in sweat. He swiftly took off his shirt, throwing it to the side.

Once his breathing had become steady once again, he laid his head back on the pillow. His eyes locked onto the ceiling, allowing him to zone out so much that he didn't even notice when the weight of the bed had shifted.

"Adrien," her voice broke him out of his daze. "Are you okay?"

He turned to see Marinette, who had curled herself up next to him. Even in the dim light from the bathroom, he could see the soft expression on her face. It was one that always brought him the most comfort, but also one that made him very aware of his pain.

He wanted nothing more than to crawl into her arms and let himself break down. Let himself feel. Instead, he tightened his face and let out a heavy sigh.

"I'm fine," he said plainly. Part of him hoped that she'd take it as an answer and leave him alone. He knew her better than that, though.

She brushed a loose lock of hair away from his eyes. "Don't lie to me," she said. "Tell me what's wrong, baby."

Adrien rolled over onto his side, turning away from her and blinking back the tears that were threatening to spill from his tired eyes. "It's nothing, I promise," he whispered. "I just want to go back to sleep."

Marinette sighed and scooted herself closer to him. She wrapped her arms around his bare chest, pulling him as close as her belly would allow. "You had a bad dream again, didn't you?" She took note of his fast beating heart and slightly damp skin.

He let himself melt into her embrace. Feeling her tender cheek pressing up against his and her soft breathing on his neck was enough to finally make his body relax. "Yeah…" He didn't hide the break in his voice as he spoke. He sighed, knowing all too well that Marinette always knew how to break him down.

She hugged him tighter and rubbed gentle circles on his chest. "Aww, my poor kitty," her voice was soft and comforting. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

Adrien swallowed hard, silently looking for a way to escape her embrace and retreat from this situation. "N-Not really…" his voice came out hoarse and strained. A tugging sensation appeared in his chest, begging him to release everything right then and there. "I really just want to forget about it."

"Remember what your therapist told you?" She moved one of her hands up to his face and gently ran her fingers through his damp hair. "You don't have to tell me everything or even a lot, but I just want to help you feel better."

He let a few fresh tears slide down his cheeks. "I'm scared, Marinette," he grabbed her hand from his hair and squeezed it. "Absolutely terrified." He finally rolled over to face her.

"What happened in your dream?" She could barely see his shiny eyes in the dimly lit room. "Whatever it was, it's gone now."

Adrien shook his head, letting go of her hand to wrap his arms around himself. "No, it's not," he closed his eyes, afraid to look into her gaze. "It's still very, very real."

Marinette put her hand on his cheek, using her thumb to wipe the tears from his eye. "Oh, baby, you're shaking," she pulled him into another hug, refusing to let him go this time. His body vibrated against hers as he let out a few quiet sobs. "Shh, it's okay."

He laid his head on her chest, burying his face in her soft nightgown. Tears spilled from his eyes as she hugged him tightly in her comforting embrace. He closed his eyes, his mind racing at a hundred miles a minute. The sound of his steadily beating heart pounded in his eardrums. He hardly noticed the little flutters hitting his stomach.

She held him there, laying in silence as his sobs turned into small, whimpering cries. Her hands ran gentle circles along his back as she hummed in his ears. At this point in their relationship, she was no stranger to his panic attacks. Her heart hurt for him as all she could do was hold him close and hope that everything would be okay.

Adrien slowly lifted his head up to meet her blue eyes. "C-Can I ask you something, Milady?" He sniffled and blinked back the remaining tears. "Do…do you think I'll be a good father?"

Marinette sighed, her expression becoming soft as she looked into his green eyes. "Adrien, listen to me closely when I say this," she cleared her throat. "I don't think you'll be a good father…" She smiled brightly at him, then said "I think you'll be the best father."

Suddenly, he looked away from her and took a deep breath. "I have a hard time believing that," his words came out strained, as if he were trying to hold them back. "I…I keep having dreams where…where…" He swallowed hard and turned back to look at her. "Where I start acting just like my own father. I became too overprotective of our little baby and they…they hated me, Marinette."

"Oh, Chaton…" she placed her hand on his cheek, gently caressing it with her thumb. Her heart ached in her chest as she looked into his sad, tired eyes. "I'm so sorry that you have dreams about such terrible things like that." Her own voice started to break as she spoke. "You don't deserve that."

"But what if it happens for real?" He asked her. "My dad, he…he's part of me and what if I have a bad side that's just waiting to be let out?"

Marinette took in his words, pondering them for only a second before saying, "Adrien, you are without a doubt one of the best people I have ever met. You're kind and thoughtful and I can't imagine my life without you in it." She felt her own eyes watering as she spoke. "You can't help what happened to you in the past, but you can break the cycle and make sure that it never happens to anyone else."

Adrien could feel his eyes burning as her words made their way into his heart. The sun had slowly started making its way over the Parisian horizon, letting a bit more light into the room. It was only then that he saw the look of genuine love on her face. "Will you help me make sure that nothing like that ever happens?" He asked her, almost pleading. "I don't wanna lose you."

It was in that moment when she leaned forward and pressed her lips against his. He leaned into her as her fingers became tangled in his messy hair. Their lips shifted slightly against each other, deepening their kiss. Adrien could feel her heart pounding against his as he threw his arms around her and held her close.

They pulled back from their kiss, their faces mere millimeters away from one another. Marinette smiled as she stared deeply into his emerald green eyes. "You will never lose me, I promise," she reached up and wiped her eyes. "And I couldn't have chosen a better man to be the father of my child." She quickly grabbed his hand and brought it down to her swollen stomach. "Can you feel that?"

Adrien pressed his hand against her belly, feeling the small flutters coming from inside it. It was still pretty faint, but his face lit up as the sensation became stronger. "Oh my god…"

Marinette jumped back a bit as her belly began jumping around. "They were only kicking a little bit, but then when you touched it…" she brought down her own hand and laid it on top of his. "Now they're moving around like crazy in there."

A new set of tears ran down his cheeks as he felt his heart swelling in his chest. "That's my baby…" he looked up at his wife, giving her a watery, yet bright, smile. "That's our baby."

She nodded, returning his expression. "They love you so much," she gave him a peck on the cheek. " I love you so much."

Adrien leaned down and pressed a firm kiss on her stomach. "I love you too, both of you." He scooted down and wrapped his arms around her so that his head rested against her belly. "I can't wait to meet you, baby."

Marinette relaxed against her pillows, taking her hand and running it through his hair. It wasn't long before his breathing steadied and his grip on her loosened as he drifted off to sleep. She yawned and gave him one final kiss on his hair before closing her own eyes.

As she let sleep overcome her once again, all that remained in her mind was the thought of seeing Adrien with their baby.
