17. Ruler's Failsafe

Avenger Interrogation Room

Michael looks at Bromwell Stikk while reading his files as he slowly wakes up.

"Oh god…what happppen?...!" Bromwell slowly wakes up as he realises he is not at home but in a dark room sitting on the table with someone in front of him.

"What the…?" Bromwell looks around, unsure what's happened as Michael looks at him.

"Bromwell Stikk, graduate from Harvard University in robotic engineering, got work at Star labs for 3 years until they fired you over a failed experiment that crippled two people, got blacklisted and spend time working with many hands until you got the attention of T.O Morrow and apprentice under him" Michael read his files to him as Bromwell starts to get nervous at him.

"Yeahh….how did you know all that?" Bromwell said, nervous about this guy knowing so much, Michael looked at him.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Michael asked him, Bromwell puts his elbows on the table and hands on his head to think.

"I was…working for Morrow….he activated Red Volcano and Red Electro….I had to run…..they programmed to kill all mankind…..but…..this golden hologram woman….grab me….and then" Bromwell slowly said looking around.

"Very good, that hologram woman is called a Codex, high-mobility mechanical unit, you remember the head?" Michael asked him, Bromwell started to remember details.

"Yeah it has the same head as that….drone." Bromwell realised as he looked at Michael.

"Correct, you stole my drone" Michael said, narrowing his eyes at him as Bromwell started to look scared.

"Wait, I had nothing to do with it, it was Morrow, he was curious about it not me" Bromwell tries to shift blame but Michael holds his hand stopping Bromwell from panicking.

"I'm aware you are not the mastermind behind this, you are only a pawn to maintain the plan for the light" Michael said, as Bromwell got scared.

"I don't….know what your…talking about" Bromwell lies but it is not working on Michael.

"No, so this isn't you?" Michael asked, pulling out a photo and showing it to Bromwell, showing him standing behind talking to seven screens with light up faces.

"Ahhhhh" Bromwell doesn't know what to say.

"You've done enough to get you a life sentence, the information you have on the group would help light that sentence" Michael said, but Bromwell shakes his head.

"I don't know anything, I'm the apprentice, even if I tell you it won't help and they'll kill me if I say even a word" Bromwell said, scared for his life.

"Luckily they don't know where you are" Michael said to Bromwell confusion.

"What do you mean? Isn't this Belle Reve?" Bromwell asked, assuming he was in Belle Reve.

"No, as far as anyone else is aware, Red Volcano and Red Electro killed Bromwell Stikk in the volcano blowing up" Michael said as Bromwell looked at him.

"Buttt I'm not dead, am I?" Bromwell asked, looking at himself and the guy before him.

"Not yet, depends on you really" Michael said, as Bromwell looks at him.

"Bromwell, I'm giving you an opportunity, I'm going to give you a second chance." Michael said as Bromwell looked at him wide eyes.

"You have great talent, master at robotic engineering, computer hacking, construction, and you learn under T.O Morrow himself, sending you to jail would be a waste" Michael complimented him as Bromwell doesn't know what to say.

Bromwell has always been the henchman, the bottom guy everyone picks on and tells how poor or bad he is. Here someone is praising him, it's a weird feeling.

"I'm willing to give you a second chance, a new life with a new identity away from it all" Michael explains to him.

"All you need to do is work for my new organisation, we have state of the art equipment, exotic material to work with and many like-minded engineers and scientists, bullying will not be tolerated here" Michael offers to Bromwell as he looks on in shock at what is being offered.

"Whatttt aboutttt the Light?" Bromwell said, still afraid of the light.

"Like I said, as far as they're aware you died in that volcano base, they saw you go in, no one saw you go out, with the new identity and a new look, no one would recognise you" Michael promised, as Bromwell doesn't know what to do.

"And if I say no?" Bromwell asked, wanting to know what would happen.

"Then I will be sent back to Belle Reve, but with no memory of this meeting" Michael said as Bromwell signed.

"You are not giving me much of a choice here" Bromwell said, looking tired, seeing how his options are either joining this new organisation or going to Belle Reve, only to be killed later or worse.

"No I'm giving you a choice to go back to your old life, or start a new one" Michael said finally as Bromwell signs looking at him.

"Can I think about it?" Bromwell asked, with Michael nodding, standing up from the table.

"Take your time, press that button if you wish to speak, there is water over there" Michael points at the button at the side of the room and some water bottles on the side table, Bromwell nods as he gets up for a drink.

As Michael walks out of the room, looking over the window to see Bromwell drinking all the water before sitting down on the chair.

"You think he'll join us?" Red Electro asked, walking behind Michael to see Bromwell thinking about life now.

"Of course, he has nothing from to his life, father left him when he was young, mother had a hard time raising him alone, not many friends and he apprentices under cancer patient and a demeaning android" Michael said ,remembering the data Red Electro had, how T. Morrow has cancer and is dying, he heard Red Tornado is looking after him during his jail sentence.

Which doesn't mean much, he has cancer and can't get off the bed, doubt he can live past his sentence.

"Red Volcano and I were aware of your team invading by Ivo calling from Belle Reve" Red Electro told him, holding out her metal hand as a screen appeared in her hand, showing security footage of Strange letting Ivo use the phone to warn Morrow.

"Didn't think Ivo would help out someone he hates, egos and all" Michael said, looking at the image of Ivo looking down in shame.

"They always talk about how better they are to one another, as you organics call 'dick measuring'" RE said, recalling phone calls of Morrow and Ivo talking shit to each other.

"Lately they are arguing who has named you Skirmisher" RE said, as Michael smiles before pressing the screen floating over Red Electros arm.

Red Electro has been a marvel since she's been back, all the scientists and engineers are in awe of her, and the data she brought with her made everyone gasp in shock.

Detailed schematics on all of T.O Morrow androids, from Red Torpedo all the way to both Red Volcano and Red Electro designs. And with the new Black-market, they now have the right material needed to build their own Red family.

Engineer and Roquette are all over it, and while Michael knows they could figure the technology out eventually, it is better to have an expert on the data.

Red Electro herself is proving to be an amazing asset to XCOM, her new metal body is durable in taking small arms fire, and with strength and speed beyond the metal android. Her Electricity is beyond Mister Twister, not only is she about to generate electricity but control it to rival Red Tornado's control over wind.

And that's only her red body; her codex brain gave her other abilities as well, from displaying hologram-like screens from her body. Other abilities like teleporting with psionics, even combining it with her electricity. Creating Codex's clones willingly or damaged, able to bring out weapons using the storage ability the Codex use to keep their Plasma guns.

And Psionic Rift, The Codex ability to cast a psionic rift that covers a large area of effect, which will disable the use of normal primary weapons inside it, resulting in the weapons being emptied of ammunition, it also works on technology seeing it work on Red Volcano. This rift will detonate after a turn, dealing damage to any units caught inside its radius. Any active clones will also have the ability to cast this skill independently of the original.

However Red Electro can only create a Codex clone, not another Red Electro, and can merge with the clone to restore herself and gain any data it had.

She can even Hack and repair technology as well, hell she still has her MedKits on in her head, now can spray it with her arms.

Right now Michael is watching the security footage of Ivo talking to a few other inmates.

"He was insane, what that Skirmisher put me through was inhuman" Ivo said, to other inmates as they looked at him like he was crazy.

"No way, you're just a bitch" Brick laughed along with a few others, Ivo glares at them.

"Oh you may laugh now, but only I can survive the Skirmisher, be warned for he is without mercy" Ivo said, as some scoff at him as Michael, RE watch though the cameras.

"My god, what do you do to the poor guy? '' The Engineer said, passing through and saw Ivo talking about Skirmisher, he was aware of the Commander suits.

"Just play him some of Ban's music" Michael said, as Engineer winced at that.

"Oh that poor guy, you're a cruel bastard" Engineer said to him, he has heard of Ban's music and it was horrible.

"That Ban of yours knows how to make an earworm" Engineer let out a joke as Michael signed.

"Dad jokes? Really" Michael asked Engineer shrugs.

"Got to laugh though the pain" Engineer shrugs as Red Electro looks at the screen.

"Why is Ivo being vague about what you did?" Red Electro asked, seeing how Ivo not going into detail about what Skirmisher actually did.

"Would be funny if Ivo said you tortured him with bad music" Engineer said with a light chuckle, telling everyone you spill your guts over a bad song would make you someone bitch in prison.

"It's about respect RE, criminals get sent to prison more than once, getting sent to prison by an officer compared to being sent to prison by a famous super" Michael explains to the AI, after all you don't tell prisoners in a super-powered prison you got caught for not paying a parking ticket.

"That would explain it, Ivo always talks to Morrow about you, saying they gave you the name Skirmisher" Red Electro knows seeing how Ivo was telling everyone how scary Skirmisher was.

"Must be a reputation thing, tell everyone it took a new big bad hero to take him out" Engineer said, knowing criminals need to get some respect when dealing with others.

"They didn't mention Cold-Blood at all?" Michael asked her, Red Electro shakes her head.

"No, they never mention you as Cold-Blood, only as Skirmisher" Red Electro said, never hearing Morrow or Ivo talk about Cold-Blood.

"They don't know Cold-Blood works for the league?" Engineer asked, Cold-Blood protected those leaders from that Taipei thing.

"It's on the news, but I don't believe they know Cold-Blood and Skirmisher are both me" Michael figures, you would figure it out, same size and same fighting style.

"Those heroes and villains are pretty attached to their super names and all that, people forget the man under the mask" Engineer said, knowing how everyone is so obsessed with the mask they never look under the mask, even criminals and heroes fall to this as well, focusing on the mask life instead of their own.

KNOCK KNOCK

"aaahhh…Hello, I made my decision" Bromwell said through the door, Michael opened the door to let Bromwell out.

Walking out he see the guy from early, a man in a construction helmet and RED ELECTRO

"Oh Shit" Bromwell steps back as Engineer comes to him.

"Woo Wooo easy partner, Red Electro is all good now, no human genocide or anything" Engineer calm him down as Michael nods.

Thank god for Solace, helps extinguish or block any mental impairments for them and any nearby allies, and helps keep Bronwell from freaking out too much.

"Genocide would be counterproductive for my plan for human dominations" Red Electro said, they all turn to look at her.

"That was my humour" Red Electro jokes as Bromwell looks shocked at this.

"But…how did you…?" Bromwell asked as the Engineer just gave him a pat down.

"Now don't you worry, let me introduce myself, I'm Dell Conagher but people call me Engineer" Engineer introduces with a handshake as Bromwell looks at him before shaking his hand.

"Bromwell Stikk" Bromwell shakes his hand, Engineer smiles at him.

"So your Bromwell, nice to meet you, I read your notes of machinery, it is a very good insight you have there" Engineer complement as Bromwell just laughs nervously.

"Welll…you know" Bromwell's not used to praise.

"So you're joining our organisation?" Engineer asks, Bromwell looks at the android and the commander.

"It's either join or getting killed then I'll join you" Bromwell said, knowing he screwed up if he is sent to prison, seeing all those prison shows and movies, he knows he can't survive in prison.

"Welcome to XCOM" Michael nods, offering his hand as Bromwell shakes it as Engineer smiles, swinging his hand on his shoulder.

"It's lovely for you to join us, let me show you our little playground, trust me we got all the latest toys, even some new ones not in the market yet" Engineer led Bromwell to show him around as Bromwell smiles at the friendly guy showing him around.

"Would he work well with us?" Red Electro asked, with Michael nodding.

"He'll fit in" Michael said,

"And if he turns traitor?" Red Electro asked, but Michael tapped the pistol in his pocket.

"It won't get it to, I'll make sure" Michael said, walking away to check something as Red Electro follows.

"So what now?" RE asked him, Michael looked at an image of a few people.

"Right now I'm interviewing a few people, and then I'm heading to the cave for a training exercise" Michael said, RE looks interested.

"What exercise?" RE asked, as Michael shrugs.

"Some telepathy mind game or something" Michael said, not too sure about the exercise.

"Would they look into your mind?" RE asked about the League learning about XCOM.

"Don't worry, It takes more than Martians to break my Mind shield" Michael said as he looked through the list of recruits that could become his logistics officer.

Maybe one of them can come up with a new Name for the paramilitary, they have the staff and the money but need a new name

LINE

In Space

A shadow glides over the moon, heading towards Earth; the shadow is from a massive ship that is deep blue in colour with red spots, largely in the shape of a turnip with the roots still attached.

There is a flash of light from the East Coast of the US, where the two Green Lanterns and the Batplane breach the atmosphere to meet the ship.

"Deploying camera-sensor units." Batman says with a push of a button. Two small probes release from the Plane, watching as the plane and the Lanterns continue to approach the ship.

"Attention." John Stewart says.

"You have entered the boundaries of Earth space. Disengage all weapons and engines. This is your final warning." John warns them.

For a moment nothing happens, until there is a whirring from the red port in front of them as it lights up and shoots a beam at them.

The two Lanterns get their shields up, but the beam persists and shatters the spheres, turning them into skeletons before that too disappears in a flash.

The beam shuts off and the Batplane makes its approach.

"Code Red. Full offensive deploy." Batman said, the bay door opens to reveal Superman, Shazam, Captain Atom, and Martian Manhunter all four wearing oxygen masks as they fly towards the ship.

The beam from the ship fires again, all the Leaguers remain calm and avoid the beam, which splits in two following the pairs of flying Leaguers.

Superman and Martian Manhunter are caught in the beam that is following them, followed quickly by Captain Atom and Shazam.

The beam is fired at the Batplane, but Batman ejects before it explodes. From his smaller plane, he sees small ships being released on the planet below. One of the small planes, which dwarf the size of Batman's pod, approaches him, and fires an identical laser at the Dark Knight.

Mount Justice

Red Tornado watches the screen in the centre of the training space, turning to a second screen as another transmission comes through, revealing Zatara.

"Tornado, did you-?" he cuts himself off, unable to get himself to say it despite his low and worried tone.

"Yes, Zatara. We saw." Tornado says, and the Team stands resolutely behind him, already suited up. "Celestial defences have failed. Initiate all terrestrial measures."

"Affirmative. See you in the field." Zatara responds and signs off, Tornado turns to the Team.

"I must join the League. We will protect the planet at all costs. But should we fail, the responsibility falls to you."

Kaldur makes a cursory glance at the Team before looking resolutely at Tornado. "We stand ready."

LINE

A camera pans from the destruction of a city as a woman's voice speaks over the screaming in the background before it lands on her in shaky movements.

"This is Iris West-Allen, reporting live. The extra-terrestrials have brought their relentless global attack to Central City." Iris West reports, the ships fire at the curve of the arch, knocking it to the street below, while another fires at a group of civilians running for their lives, destroying them in groups.

One heads right for Iris, but just as it gets close enough to fire, the Flash swoops in, grabbing the redhead and the beam explodes in front of the camera.

"Tronsnart siht namaremac ot ytefas." Zatara voice intones, imbued with power. As two ships approach the camera, the world is covered by gold and as the gold fades away Zatara stands on a roof of a building, and Flash slows to a stop before setting Iris down.

"You should both be safe here, at least for now." Flash said to her.

"Thank you, Flash and Zatara." Iris says hesitantly.

Flash places an arm on her shoulder before running off.

"Etativel won!" Zatara chants and a see-through bronze-tinted platform forms under his feet and he rises into the air.

"Denny, you okay?" Iris asks calmly, the cameraman raises his hand into the frame and gives thumbs up. Iris smiles and turns the reporter back on.

"As you can see, the Justice League is attempting to hold the line." Zatara and Flash races up to where a group of people are trapped on top of a burning building, as a ship approaches them. A shot goes off, and the top of the building explodes. The camera quickly pans back down to Iris.

"No." is barely picked up by the mic in her hand.

The feed jumps to where Cat Grant is sitting at her station, shouting because behind Iris' back is another ship.

"Iris. Iris, get out of there!" The feed is lost and Cat sits back in her chair.

"I'm sorry; we're experiencing technical difficulties from our Central City feed. We take you now to a devastated Taipei. Another League contingent is having more luck." Cat Grant tries to remain hopeful.

The ships fly around Taipei, one hits Hawkwoman in the back on screen, then fires again at Hawkman as he turns to look for his partner, taking him quickly.

Green Arrow has two arrows with augmented tips already knocked and he fires. At his six Black Canary screeches and takes out a group of five or six ships that were flying through the skyline.

One comes through the smoke slowly, and while Green Arrow goes to fire his arrow at the ship, it fires first, taking both of them out.

Cat looks on at the now black screen before turning forward with a calm face and a level voice. "Ladies and gentlemen, we've lost Black Canary, Green Arrow, and the Hawks, other heroes reported dead or missing include Batman, Icon, Adam, and Aquaman."

Wonder Woman flies about the city, using her lasso to throw one ship at another and destroy both of them.

"Wonder Woman, above you." Red Tornado calls out, and she gets enough time to partially block the beam with her bracers before she is taken out too.

Red Tornado looks up to see the mothership coming down over him, and he has to get out of the way, only able to watch as it lands on Smallville.

Tornado uses his hands to release tornados out in front of him, to deter ships, but they circle around him out of his range. "Red Tornado to Cave. I fear I am all that remains of the League."

"RT." Robin's voice comes through in the comms as he is hit in the back by the yellow-orange beam.

LINE

The Team watches the four scenes of defeat from within the Mountain, Cold-Blood was really impressed by this psychic training exercise, Manhunter creates a mental world where they have to fulfil a mission, where no matter what would happen the worst case scenario would happen.

To prepare the team in case it happens, so to say.

Cold-Blood remembers doing these kinds of exercises with XCOM, although they use Hologram-like rooms and training gear that made it real.

Another thing is that they have to pretend it is real, Cold-Blood believe they should at least feel the League's death, compared to watching an image of it happening, seeing their bone but no blood, come on.

"We are Earth's Heroes now." Kaldur says strongly,

"So, what are we waiting for? A theme song?" Superboy demands, Cold-Blood press a few images, getting a better image of the threat.

"A strategy." Kaldur says as he turns to him, turning to Cold-Blood.

"The ships are either piloted or robotic, the main weapon on the top that can turn and aim, destroying whatever it hits, one arm must have a floating device and communication, and the other arm must help for aerodynamics or appearance." Cold-Blood analysed the ships, the weapon on the top, one side for communication and flying while the other either for flight or appearance.

"What do you mean by appearance?" Robin asked, looking at the ship as well.

"The ships only have one weapon, a powerful weapon but one nonetheless, either they know all our strengths and only needed the one weapon or this is their first invasion." Cold-Blood tires to figure but need to see more.

"First invasion?" Artemis asked.

"Only theory so far, but the fact is none of Earth's weapon have any effect against them, and their weapon obliterates anything in their path, organic and inorganic" Cold-Blood mention, seeing the weapons killing both kryptonian and Red Tornado,

Kaldur looks at Robin with a slight hope, the Boy Wonder quickly taps on the HoloGlove.

"Checking satellite imagery." Robin said, the image is pulled up in front of the whole Team.

"Here where the aliens are now." Images of the aliens all over the world.

"They came prepared" Cold-Blood said, seeing the ships have nearly encircled the world, with their weapons alone, humanity won't stand a chance.

"This one gets lost?" Conner asks, gesturing to one near the North Pole.

"It's Superman's Fortress of Solitude." Robin realises after a moment. Conner looks both affronted and confused.

"Superman has a Fortress of Solitude?" Conner asked, another thing Big Blue didn't say, and in a simulation so Martian Manhunter knows but not Conner.

"Its power source must have attracted the aliens' attention, at least enough to send a scout ship to investigate." Robin justifies, Cold-Blood looks at the ship scouting.

While it seem like a trap to send one ship but with a weapon that can kill anything,

Would make anyone arrogant, Cold-Blood sees a weakness.

"Must be some fortress." he grouches slowly as he turns away.

M'gann is quick to try and comfort him. "Conner."

"No, it's okay. I guess there's a lot about Superman I'll never know." Conner stops and stutters over that for a moment.

"Uh, you know, now." Conner said,

"With the power of that weapon would make these X-rays arrogant, that something we can use" Cold-Blood said, Artemis looks at Michael.

"X-Rays?" Artemis asked, Cold-Blood shrugs.

"What I call an unknown enemy" Michael explains,

"We will target this lone ship." Kaldur decides, making a plan here.

"Yeah. Break it down. Build more. Hit those ugly aliens with their own mojo." Kid says strongly, punching his fist into his open hand to prove his point, but Artemis elbows his side.

"Ow!" Kid rubs his side.

"Martian and Kryptonian in the house." Artemis reminds him.

The two look at Wally expecting him to try and get his foot out of his mouth. "Uh," he half laughs. "Not that all aliens are automatically ugly."

"You might be ugly to them Kid" Cold-Blood said, seeing how some Aliens from his home dimension find humans ugly compared to themselves.

"Please, I'm handsome, that for sure" Kid brags to him, but Cold-Blood pats his shoulder.

"Keep telling yourself that" Michael jokes as everyone smiles and Kid frowns for a bit before they get into the plan to take the ship.

LINE

Outside of the Fortress of Solitude, promptly labelled with an S on the door, the Arctic Wind howls as the alien ship sits idle.

Artemis, in winter gear, moves through the ice formations to an opening that lets her see the side of the ship.

Cold-Blood, already camo for the snow, moves to the other side of the ice formations as he get into cover, looking over to see the other side of the ship and also Artemis, has she give a slit wave, Cold-Blood wave back to confirm the plan.

Miss Martian is camouflaged as she flies up to the ship. Her eyes glow green for a moment before she uses her Telekinesis to rip the device at the end of one of the wings.

"Communications disabled" Miss M informs them though the mind link, before the ship falls to the icy ground.

"Propulsion disabled." She added, Artemis comes away from her hiding spot and fires an arrow at the centre red spot on the ship's front, which expands and then immediately hardens.

Now the ship is firing around trying to shoot them, the shots get the area right and one shot lands rather uncomfortably close to Artemis.

"X-rays are sealed inside." Artemis said, Cold-Blood looks over the cover, watching the gun fire around as he uses his suit, using Frostbite to freeze the gun in place.

"Main weapon is frozen," Cold-Blood said, running towards the down ship.

Aqualad has his vantage point under the ice, as he jumps through the ice with his WaterBearers ready the ship sinks a little. The laser gun tries to turn to Aqualad but slowed by the frost, Wolf jumps on it to send the blast off and continues to hold onto it until Superboy is bracing it from on top of the ship.

Wolf growls as he lands on the ice in front of the ship.

Kid Flash is a barely noticeable blur, apart from his ginger locks, and Robin jumps off his shoulders to land on the ship, Cold-Blood jumps on the ship as well. Robin taps away on his HoloGlove.

"Identifying the weapon's structural stress points and links to the ship." Robin said, standing from his crouch and pointing them out along the connection route.

"Here, here, and here." Robin points out the spot, Miss Martian delivers three quick telekinetic blasts right where he was pointing, while Cold-Blood uses Defuse to separate the wire giving power.

Aqualad watches from the wing as Superboy yanks at the laser.

One of the refiners comes loose and both Wolf and Superboy can hear it whir to life, Superboy glances behind him but continues yanking on it, but Cold-Blood sees it too.

Using his Telekinetic Cold-Blood moves the wire away, the blast was sent in the air, everyone looks at the energy. Miss Martian lets a sign of relief seeing it miss Superboy.

"That was a close one" Miss Martian said, Superboy let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

Robin is tapping away on his HoloGlove, checking every wavelength he can think of.

"There was no indication of feedback." Robin said, looking over to Cold-Blood.

"How did you know?" Robin asked, Cold-Blood shrugs.

"Luckily guess" Cold-Blood said, saw the energy aiming at the clone and move it away from him.

Superboy looks at Cold-Blood before nodding to him in thanks as he goes back to continue yanking the laser off.

"Let's go." he ground it out before it came loose, some of the ice smashed off.

Miss M watches it come loose with surprise, then calls the camouflaged BioShip to their location. Superboy hears it and jumps onto it before it stops. He swings the laser over, Miss Martian breaks the rest of the ice off, and then places her hands on the ship, communicating with it, and the hull of the ship moves in swirls to meet the new technology.

Something Cold-Blood watched with great interest, he wondered if Sara would let XCOM use her bioship, she had to come to earth somehow.

"Rerouting systems to integrate the weapon into the ship's bio-matrix. We'll need to de-camouflage for a few minutes." As the Bioship started to fuse the gun to itself.

"We may not have a few minutes." Robin says as they watch two more ships fly over their now noticeable location, then loop back.

"Miss Martian, open fire." Aqualad commands, only sparing a quick look over his shoulder, Cold-Blood aims a heavy weapon on his wrist, arming at one of the ships.

"Can't. Weapon systems are off-line to incorporate the new cannon. And that's not fully integrated yet either." she too keeps looking back at the now approaching ships.

"Artemis, you take the left, I got the right" Cold-Blood said, Artemis aiming for the left one.

"Gotcha covered" Artemis says, the only one not on the BioShip, with three arrows knocked onto her bow. She releases them on the left ships as she runs toward the bioship.

Cold-Blood fires his Plasma Blaster on the right ship.

BLOOOOOOOW

Both her arrows hit one ship, the left one explodes in the air while the plasma shoots though the ship, destroying it in the air.

"Excellent, but others will come, we need to leave now" Aqualad said as they walked to the bioship.

"Where to? The cave?" Miss M asked

"The Hall of Justice. The human race must know that there are still heroes defending them. There is still hope." Aqualad corrects, Kid flash grins at this

"With these bad boys will kick some alien ass" Kid Flash said, as Artemis rolls her eyes, Michael walks over to the down ships.

"Cold-Blood we need to leave" Aqualad called out as everyone was on the bioship except Michael.

"Bring the bioship here, real quick" Cold-Blood called out, Miss Martian moves the bioship as they watch Cold-Blood open the glass, looking inside to see nothing but machinery.

"So there machines" Cold-Blood mutter but looks at the machine, it look familiar

"Michael what's wrong?" Miss Martian said, as she and Artemis came off from the bioship.

"These machines look familiar to me" Cold-Blood said,

"We can look at it later, we got to go" Artemis said, but the wolf started to growl, as Superboy notice as well.

"What the?" Superboy said, seeing something coming in their direction, Artemis looked behind as a whip hit her.

"AHHHHHH" Artemis screams as everyone turns to her.

"Artemis" They called out, Artemis stopped as she fell on the ground as she looked up, in horror.

Seeing a giant white snake, 15 feet tall with blue spikes, cobra-like head with blue spike with two arms, blue armour and a crown on his head and with guns on his back.

(Viper King)

HIIISSSSSAAAAAAA

"AHHHHH" Artemis shrieks as the Viper King wraps around her as she struggles to breathe.

"Let her go" Kid shouts running to the snake, trying to save Artemis, as everyone tries to save her.

The Viper King hissed, turning around, to moves it body and throw Artemis as Kid at high speed, Kid catches her but falls from the impact.

Wolf jumps at the Viper King, fangs wide open to bite the snake, But the Viper was too fast.

Moving fast the Viper King pulls out a gun and aims at the snarling wolf, shooting the wolf in the head.

Whhiiiinnnnn

Wolf whines from the shot as he falls to the ground dead.

"WOLF" Miss Martian shouts in horror, seeing the now dead mutated wolf with a spear in his head, Superboy looks at his pet in horror, seeing the league turn to skeleton is one thing, but to see the blood and bones of a dead friend in front of you.

Aqualad looks murderous as he reaches for his WaterBearers, running forward with his WaterBearers out and uses his magic to create a torrent of water that rips apart the ice. The Snake hissed at him and spat venom-like ice from his mouth.

Freezing the water from hitting him.

Something snapped in Conner, after looking at the dead wolf.

"AHhHHHHh" Superboy jumps in rage at the Viper king, Superboy brings his fist on the snake but it sees him, with inhuman reaction the Viper jumps Superboy while he is coming down.

Superboy felt the snake wrapped around him as he struggled to break out.

"AHHHHH getttt off me" Superboy growls, trying to use his super strength to get out of the crushing grip but the Viper proved too strong.

The Viper king hissed as it bites him, Superboy gasps in pain feeling the fangs bite his shoulder, he screams in pain.

"CONNER" Miss Martian shouts, getting off the bioship as she throws broken ice at the Viper, it hits the Viper forcing him to let go of Superboy as Miss M rushes to him.

"Conner" Miss M tries to help, looking at the bite wound in fear, seeing the Viper can bite Superman's clone.

Cold-Blood looks at The Viper King, or Subject Gamma in shock, remembering the cave he saw Bradford in, how it nearly killed him. How his friend Dr. Vahlen tries to create aliens to fight off ADVENT only to turn against them as they wreak havoc all over the world.

Cold-Blood looks at the Viper King, seeing it hitting Robin and shooting FrostBite at Aqualad as he walks toward it.

"Oooh Cunt" Cold-Blood called out, and the Viper King turned to see him.

"Looking for someone" Cold-Blood asked, the Viper king hissed at him everyone started to see the looks of Michael armour compared to the Viper monster.

"Why does your suit look like that snake?" Robin asked, noting the look.

"Because I killed him and skinned his scaled ass" Cold-Blood said as he ran and gun the Viper King with Impetuous Spire, the Viper King slither forward, avoiding the gun fire as he opened his mouth to shoot Frostbite at the Commander.

Just what Cold-Blood wanted, grabbing this Frost axe and throwing it into his mouth.

The Axe caught it in his mouth, the Axe keeping his mouth wide open, as the Viper King tried to get it out.

Cold-Blood use his Grapple and hit the Viper's chest, as it too focus on the axe stuck in its mouth, getting in close Cold-Blood pulls out Plasma Knife, a knife with plasma on the edges as he stabs the Viper in the head and driving his head into the ground.

The Viper King falls to the ground as Cold-Blood keeps his whole weight on the Viper Head keeping him down as he continues to brutally stab the head of the Viper as it shakes and his body trashes around trying to break the hold.

Cold-Blood keeps stabbing until it stops moving, taking a deep breath Cold-Blood turns to see everyone looking at him in awe and fear.

"What the hell was that?" Kid Flash gets up while helping Artemis, seeing Cold-Blood kill the thing while they struggle.

"I face him before" Cold-Blood runs to Superboy, getting a Medkit and spraying him, removing the venom as Superboy calms down.

"Is he ok?" Miss Martian said, Cold-Blood nods as he helps out Aqualad from the frostbite.

"You have experience fighting snakes" Aqualad stated, Michael shrugs.

"There are plenty of them in Australia" Cold-Blood said, Artemis looked over to see the ship she shot down slowly turn to them, seeing she in Kid's arm she shoved him out of the way, Kid Flash turned to her but could only see the laser shoot her into nothing.

"Artemis" Kid shouted as everyone turned to see Artemis get shot.

"Noo" Miss Martian cries Aqualad looks pissed.

"We need to go now" Aqualad orders, putting out his Water bearer to send water splashing at the ship, destroying it on the ice.

"They're dead. Every single X-ray. If it's the last thing I do." Kid growls out, seeing Artemis save him light up his fire as they make it back to the Bioship.

M'gann fights back tears as she pilots the BioShip, but her breaths show just how much she's holding back from sobbing.

Kid loses his temper and takes it out on the console in front of him. Kaldur turns towards both of them as he stands.

"There will be time to mourn later. Now we have a job to do. Defend the Earth and ensure Artemis' sacrifice was not in vain" Aqualad said, getting everyone to grit their teeth as they look ahead to the Hall of Justice.

Michael grips his hand, psionics gather around his hand.

LINE

An American flag still waves in the wind in front of Capitol Hill, and a commanding officer looks through binoculars.

"Now! Open fire." The Officer Orders, Tanks and soldiers open fire at the Alien ships, but they dodge out of the way almost effortlessly. Then use lasers on the ends of one of their wings to destroy the tanks.

The soldiers have to scatter as the large weaponry explodes.

A camouflaged BioShip drops in behind three of them, lasers out before the bottom opens and Superboy drops into one of the ships. Landing on the weapon first, then the top of the ship.

Taking it out of the air with only a few punches.

The BioShip opens fire on the other two, taking them out.

The ship that Superboy is taking down skids to a halt mere yards in front of the military officer and his forces.

He jumps off the ship, hitting the iconic pose for barely a moment before landing in a crouch before the soldiers. As he rises the BioShip comes to a halt and de-camouflages, opening the rear hatch, where the Team waits for the ramp to let them down to the ground.

The soldiers cheer.

"See? It is Superman. I told you he wouldn't leave us out here alone." one soldier says as he elbows his buddy.

"I don't know. He looks kind of young." the other remarks.

"Where's the cape?" A soldier asked, Conner turned quickly.

"I'm not Superman." Conner says strongly.

"I don't know who you are, son." the general steps up.

"And right now, I don't care. You wear the S, and you got the job done." The general look at him with approval, but Superboy looks down

"I'm not Superman." Superboy mutters.

"Tell that to the enemy." The General turns to Aqualad and salutes.

"General Wade Eiling, U.S. Air Force." Wade Eiling introduces himself.

"Aqualad, Justice League. We'll help you salvage as many of the aliens' cannons as possible. Then we start taking back what is ours." Aqualad said, pointing at the gun on the bioship.

Cold-Blood scans the weapon as well, but so far all the data he got is random data, the data says plasma, nuclear and heat, the data makes no sense. Even alien technology should make some sense.

But the Elerium he sees in the scan concerns him.

The Army forces wait outside the Hall of Justice.

Inside, Conner looks up amongst the rubble at the mostly intact statue of Superman.

"They're really gone." Robin mumbles, barely turning to Kaldur.

"They will be remembered," Cold-Blood said to them, looking at the fallen statues, remembering every soldier that has fallen under his command.

Conner watches as M'gann floats by him and eventually stops before the fallen top of her Uncle's statue. Sobbing.

Suddenly her eyes snap open and she backs away from the statue, lifting it. Revealing Martian Manhunter beneath the rubble.

"Uncle J'onn!" she cheers, then tosses the top quarter of the statue away.

She goes back towards him but Kaldur gets in her way.

"Cold-Blood, check his mind. Make sure he is who he appears to be." Kaldur said seeing M'gann will let her feelings affect her judgement.

"It's him. He's real. And he's alive." M'gann assures, with Michael nodding to them.

"But we saw you disintegrated." Conner contradicts and accuses.

"And yet you're here?" Cold-Blood narrowing his eyes, feeling something weird here, M'gann helps her uncle to his feet.

"Yes, I remember. But… I cannot remember how I survived… or how I arrived here." Manhunter said, Cold-blood feels something, something coming.

"Maybe you were density-shifting and the beam passed right through you." M'gann offers.

"Scrambling your brains along the way." Robin pipes up.

"My mind is clouded. I feel certain I had something important to tell you." Manhunter admits.

"And teleporting under some rubble?" Cold-Blood mention, density-shifting is useful but had its limits, and no one saw him till now either is very sus. Wally smiles at Cold-Blood.

"Hello, Wally, you're right you cold bastard" he even hits his head like M'gann does. Before slapping Cold-Blood back.

"Come on." Wally calls out to Robin as he looks at him with an eyebrow arched.

The two stand atop a vehicle, while Robin has his HoloGlove turned on as they look at the acquired weapon.

"I knew it! Look." Kid said though the long as he points out one reading on Robin's Holo.

"It's giving off Zanopenes. The same stuff that powers our Zeta- Tubes." Kid Flash lifts his goggles as he smiles brightly

"This thing doesn't disintegrate, it- it teleports." Kid tugs on Robin's arm.

"Artemis is alive!" Kid said with joy,Cold-Blood look down.

"Oh Wally, you need to focus," Cold-Blood said to him, but he ignored him.

"Maybe, but-" Robin frowns as he continues to look it over.

"No maybes. They're all alive." Kid insists Michael shake his head at him in denial about Artemis.

"That must have been what you wanted to tell us." M'gann says brightly, Cold-Blood can't help but look at the soldiers looking at this with confused looks.

Yeah out of context and without telepathy this would be confusing. Manhunter brings his hand to his face again; Kaldur and Conner look on in worry.

More ships come their way, firing at Kid and Robin, as everyone takes cover.

"We're on our way." Aqualad says, but Cold-Blood shakes his head.

"Negative. We can't win this. Miss Martian, camo the Bio Ship and-" Cold-Blood warns,

The warning comes too late and the BioShip disappears, knocking both Miss Martian and Manhunter off their feet with a grunt of pain.

"M'gann." Conner says worriedly before he goes to her and Aqualad goes to Manhunter.

"That didn't feel like-" she starts with silent tears streaming from her eyes, Conner has murder in his eyes.

WARRRRHHHHHHHH

A loud shout is heard outside, hearing soldiers getting killed.

"We have to help them" Kid said, but Aqualad stops him

"We're falling back now." Robin says through the link, but their heard more gun fire and explosion, then silences.

'What happened?' Conner said, trying to hear something coming as both Martians hold their heads in pain as everyone hears jet fire coming.

"RAAAAHHHHH" A rages filled scream is heard, as the door burst open.

Revealing a human torso of a man, a crimson red man with black tattoos, metal gloves, belt and shoulder pads covering a crown like helmet covering the top side of his face with six glowing eyes. He has a circle on his back and jet profusion all over his body keeping him off the ground, he's holding a spear with a glowing green gun like weapon on top.

(The Archon King)

"RAAAAA" The Archon king shouted, everyone looked shocked by its appearance.

"What is that thing?!" Robin shouted, mirroring every thought, but Cold-Blood

"Archon" Cold-Blood shouted, seeing The Archon King, or Subject Alpha.

"Arch-what" Kid said, but the Archon king didn't give them a chance, he flew up the place, shouting in the area as pinions shoot out of his back, the pinions flashed as Cold-Blood saw the light from the target pinions aiming at everyone.

"SCATTER" Cold-Blood dodge the pinion coming at him.

Archons use Blazing Pinions to attack multiple people, the Archon goes airborne and designates an area to be bombarded by a barrage of pinions that aim and explode when hit. They have to fly high in the air and can't use it indoors.

But the Archon king has Devastate: An upgraded version of Blazing Pinions that is faster, and can be shot indoors.

Despite Cold-Blood warning the pinion hit all the team and league, Robin got knocked unconscious, Kid got disoriented from the blast and Aqualad got knocked to the side, stunned from the attack. The Martians were about to phase through the pinion but the heat and fire from it still affected them.

Only Superboy could take the attack, but it still hurt.

"rrrr" Superboy grunt from the attack, see the Martian in pain more on Miss Martian the Manhunter.

"M'gann '' Superboy shouted, seeing his girlfriend hurt, Archon King growl in hate as he charges at Martian Manhunter, slamming into a wall.

"Ahhhhhh" Manhunter chokes the Archon King as his staff takes his throat with one hand as he punches him with his other with a growl.

The Archon king growls, holding the Martian with his staff, beating him down with his fury.

"Uncle J'onn" Miss Martian shouted getting up with Superboy help as they tried to help Manhunter.

Miss Martian tries to use her telekinesis but it doesn't work, the Archon King turns to her, shouting in rage.

"RAHHHHH" Archon king shouts, Miss Martian holds her head in pain as Superboy jumps on the Archon king.

"Get off them" Superboy growls, grabbing a hold of his back and punching the alien. The Archon king growls, flying in the ground on his back with Superboy, slamming them in the ground as he drags Superboy though the ground though the wall then up the ceiling.

Cold-Blood grits his teeth, getting up as he helps up Aqualad.

"What is that?" Aqualad feeling disoriented as Cold-Blood helps him out.

"Another X-ray, that killed all the soldiers, now is fighting Superboy" Cold-Blood explains as Miss Martian helps out her uncle with Kid grabbing Robin.

"We need to stop that thing" Kid said, but Cold-blood stops them,

"NO! I will handle the Archon you need to get to the cave" Cold-Blood said, Aqualad nodding seeing they need to live.

"We can all use the Zeta to the Cave. If you can grant us computer clearance to access the Tubes." Aqualad says to Manhunter.

"I can only authorise one at a time." Manhunter informs.

"Send them quickly" Cold-Blood said, with Manhunter nodding,

"But Conner" Miss M concern.

"I'll get Conner just get everyone out of here" Cold-Blood said as Miss M and Kid take Manhunter and Robin to the Zeta-tubes.

Meanwhile in the air Superboy is struggling to punch the Archon king, each punch it blocks as the Archon king punches Superboy higher in the air. Superboy tries to grab him but the Archon King slams his head into the clone as he grunts.

The Archon King grabs his staff and drives him towards the ground at fast speed, Superboy tries to break out of it but he can't break out of the grip.

Aqualad stays with Cold-Blood as he waits for Archon to come down.

"How do you know it will come down?" Aqualad asked him.

"I face him before, he always goes to the same spot" Cold-Blood said, Aqualad looks at him.

"The viper and now this, what are they Michael?" Aqualad asked, Michael signed.

"That's a long story, let's just say it's one of my demons from my past," Cold-Blood said, with Aqualad nodding as Cold-Blood saw them.

"Here they come, you know the plan?" Cold-Blood said, Aqua nods as the Archon King crashes Superboy through the ceiling and into the ground, his Icarus drop.

Superboy grunts from the impact as the Archon King growls at him.

"Hey Dickless" Cold-Blood calls him out, the Archon King looks up to see the Commander.

"Try me on for size" Cold-Blood taunts, hands gathers psionic energy, sending it to the Archon, the Archon grabs his head in pain as growl in rage at Cold-Blood.

Cold-Blood uses Schism, Debilitating telepathic attack that can inflict different negative conditions.

Aqualad uses his waterbearer to throw water at him, sending him back as Aqualad using the water to move Superboy away.

The Archon King growls at the water, Cold-Blood jumps and kicks him in the head, knocking him to the side. The Archon kings growls at the Commander.

"Come on" Cold-Blood said, the Archon king growling at him.

"RAWWWWWHHHH' The Archon King charges at Cold-Blood in rage, hand out ready to kill him as he smashed Cold-Blood into the wall.

"Michael" Aqualad called out, seeing the Archon smashed Cold-Blood in a wall as dust cover the place.

The dust cleared revealing the Archon King with his staff though his chest, Cold-Blood kicks him off with a huff.

"Get the fuck off me" Cold-Blood said, pushing the Archon King with the staff he took when the Archon dropped it.

"Michael! you're ok?" Aqualad asked, holding Superboy on his shoulder as Conner held his sides in pain.

"Fine, lucky I got the staff to kill him" Cold-Blood said, getting that staff away from the Archon King was the plan, using psionics to piss it off and killing it with its own weapon.

"Come on let's go" Cold-Blood helps Superboy from Aqualad as they make it to the Zetatube, where the team is still here.

"Why are you still here?" Cold-Blood asked them, as Superboy got off Cold-Blood and Aqua to help M'gann, Robin not uncurious anymore.

"We had to reroute the whole thing" Robin said, the Archon King messed up a few things and they had to fix it real quick.

"Done" Robin said the machine starts up.

"Override: Martian Manhunter, zero-seven." Manhunter tells the computer.

The door explodes behind them, as one soldier somehow survives and came through the door. Superboy is the first to move to help him.

Superboy makes his way to help the trapped man. He props up the debris trapping him and a laser takes out a perfect circle from the front of it.

"He goes next." Superboy growls as Aqualad

"Fine. Then you." Aqualad complies.

"Can you make it?" he asks over the computer. The man nods and stands as Superboy lets go.

"Sure, Superman." Private Jason Bard thanks.

"I'm not…" he tries, but the Private is already through.

Superboy, B-0-4

He looks back over his shoulder before jumping through. More ships keep blasting the place as the building begins to collapse.

"They need you more than me." Kaldur says as he helps Manhunter to the Zeta.

"Go!" then pushes him in, as the ships shoot at the Hall, destroying it all.

Robin stands beside KF and looks at Superboy and Miss M, Cold-Blood was pacing back and forth. "Our mission is clear. If we believe the x-rays have been teleporting victims-"

"We do." Kid cuts him off.

"Then the only reasonable detention facility is here." He uses his HoloGlove to get the image up in the Mountain.

"Their mothership. Atop what used to be Smallville." Robin turns to Manhunter.

"Ring any bells?" Robin asks the Martian, Manhunter stands and shakes his head.

"No. I'm sorry." Manhunter apologies.

"Superboy, you'll create a distraction." Robin says to him.

"No!" Miss Martian nearly screams then turns to Superboy.

"He's offering you as a sacrifice. Aqualad would never do that."

"You're right." Robin says calmly. "Aqualad would sacrifice himself, a mistake that just cost us our leader. Superboy is the most likely to be perceived as a threat, motivating the aliens to deploy." he says strongly.

"Worst case, he's teleported inside, and we set him free along with Artemis. And, uh, Aqualad and everyone." Kid states, making it obvious who he is more focused on, Miss M turns to Michael.

"Michael, you must know another way" Miss M asked him, but Cold-Blood wasn't focusing on them.

"Communications down, first the Viper now Archon, what going on?" Cold-Blood said to himself, he was trying to contract XCOM but he got nothing, seeing the Viper King and the Archon King.

This can't be Elders, can it?

"Cold-Blood, you know what those creatures were" Robin states, seeing Cold-Blood beat the Viper and that other alien, everyone looks at him.

"It's a long story" Michael said, Kid flash got mad.

"Then shorten it, that Snake was the reason Artemis was kil…Kidnapped" Kid Flash said, not saying Artemis was dead but kidnapped.

"To abridged it, I work for the Government, special secret black ops shit, those aliens, are puppets to another alien with mind control, these alien in question were the government trying to give free will to them to fight off the mind controller, but they turn on us and here we are" Michael said to them, not the full truth but the aspects of it at least.

"There's more to the story" Robin states,

"Yes but time is not on our side," Cold-Blood said.

"So the government made them," Superboy asked, but Michael shakes his head.

"That's the problem, I killed them before, my squad killed all of them" Cold-Blood said, pointing at his suit.

"This suit is made from that snake's dead skin, he shouldn't be here" Cold-Blood said to them, as they looked at him and each other.

"I'm sorry, but something happening here and it is not this invasion" Cold-Blood said to them, Miss Martian looked concerned for Superboy but he held her in support.

She looks conflicted but says nothing.

"Do you have any idea?" Robin asked, seeing if he knew anything.

"There's more to this than a simple invasion" Michael said gravely.

Ships fly over a burning Gotham Academy, but underground everyone is protected.

Students are all on their phones, and M'gann's voice comes through the speakers.

"And though we know all seems lost…" Conner stands beside her.

"The one thing the alien cannot destroy is hope." M'gann continues.

"Hope survives because the battle is not over. Not as long as even one of us is willing to fight." Conner stands tall, Wally steps into frame.

"It doesn't matter how many times new heroes will always rise to carry on bringing all their resources, their skills, their talents to bare, to defeat talents to bare, to defeat the enemy" Wally said. Proving his point, Red Arrow, Zatanna, and Rocket all prepare as he speaks. Roy looks over as the Zeta Tube turns on, revealing Garth and Tula. Superboy hands Robin a belt full of charges that he clips over the other on his chest.

Robin steps up beside Kid as he starts talking.

"The people of Earth will survive this. We will rebuild, and we will thrive. Never doubt and never forget. The Earth will never surrender." Robin shouts, everyone cheers, but the loudest is a blonde girl, beside a familiar ginger girl, and an older man in a suit shouting. "Huzzah! Huzzah!"

"HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA" A powerful voice laugh at though everyone phone, TV and signal the team use to call the world, stopping the cheers

The team sees the distortions on the signal.

"What happened?" Wally asked, Robin scanning for the source of the signal.

"I'm trying" Robin tries to find them, Michael stares at the image.

He remembers that voice.

"Yes hope, hope for a brighter tomorrow, dream of a world without conflict or cruelty" the voice mocked the people as they all listened to the voice.

"But hope is for the delusion, those who fail to see reality" the voice continues as the ships start to land down.

"Your champions are dead, soon their protégé will follow, continue to struggle and hope for a better tomorrow" Mocked the voice as the doors open, as some people around begin watching began to notice.

"As I strip this world of everything and leave you with nothing" More ships begin to drop and open their doors.

"The time has come for the Elders to rise, for I am their Harbinger" Roars the herd from the ships as bug-like creatures come out of the ships, everyone running seeing the monsters attacking the people.

"You will all see the wisdom of their choice" these insect-like monsters are imposing and physically dangerous, with spines, talons and razor-like skin, with four insectoid legs and a terrifying face.

The team look at the creatures in horror but Michael narrows his eyes at both the Chryssalid and the Chosen.

"Come heroes, and know the true anguish against your very mind, come and meet your end" the Voice calls out to the heroes.

"Come, embrace your destiny, Commander" Cold-Blood narrows his eyes, the Warlock Megaera is calling them out.

"So that the guy in charge of it all" Wally narrows his eyes at the voice, Robin got the signal.

"It comes from the mothership," Robin said, with Michael nodding.

"Then let's destroy it" Cold-Blood said, walking to get ready.

No holding back here.

Robin stands on a bare spot a fair bit from the mothership, looking through binoculars with Michael right next to him.

Michael has the Warlock gauntlets, holding the Disruptor Rifle, on his back Avatar Psi Amp,the Arashi and the Chosen Assassin's Katana, Darkclaw on his side. Currently wearing the an Avatar suit designs with the Chosen armour, the suits amply this psionic energy and everything else.

(A red Avatar suit but with more gadgets and more armour with Chosen colours)

Michael calls this suit Sovereign, a suit he used to command the XCOM army, both human and X-ray. It is weaker than before from the damage coming to this dimension but it is strong enough to take the Warlock.

Miss Martian approaches them, Sovereign uses his psionic to cover them. Even now Sovereign knows Warlock is in there.

"Stay close to J'onn. He's still…" Robin said, his hand makes a movement it's not visible in the dark with a black glove, but the message is clear, M'gann doesn't like it, but nods.

"First team, deploy." Robin commands, both M'gann and J'onn take off; she pulls up her hood and as her uncle flies in front of her, takes his hand. The two camouflage as they approach the ship, then stop just shy of the hull, before J'onn passes through and pulls M'gann after him.

M'gann groans as she passes through the hull, but stands straight quickly.

"Ready and in position." M'gann tells Robin. "Be careful, Conner. I love you."

Conner gives a small smile before turning to Robin and Sovereign they give him a small nod. He jumps from their spot and lands on the ship, crashing into the walls. He goes for the first gun he can and yanks at it.

"Careful. Don't disconnect the power source." Robin reminds, Conner sticks his hand in and finds the trigger.

"All right, you glorified trespassers! You wanna see how a real alien fights?" Conner shouted, started shooting at the other guns near him, the doors below him opened and the ships started to fly out in droves.

"Now or never." Kid tells them, Robin and Kid grab on to Sovereign as he Phase walks them, teleporting them to the open doors with ease and making their way through the emptying hangar. Dodging two ships leaving.

"Way is clear. Go!" Robin commands as he pokes his head back out then they head towards a pillar in the middle of the hangar. Watching a patrol robot lazily go by.

They both watch it, Wally lifts his goggles, but another drone comes behind their turned backs. The impact of a solid crate against it catches their attention. Watching as two obscured shapes land.

Robin waves the two of them on, and all five take off.

Conner huffs out a breath as he takes out two more ships, taking a breath he looks around but sees no more ships around.

BAAAAAAA

Something big came behind him, Conner turned around to fire the gun, but the huge hand crushed it out of his hand, Conner looked up in shock at the monster in front of him.

A green behemoth, muscle like plates with massive hands with claws on it, sharp teeth. A Metal mask with six glowing eyes and horns on top, a device on its back powering giant gauntlets with a spiking crusher on both of them.

(Berserker Queen)

RAAAAHHHHHHH

The Berserker Queen roared at Conner, sending him down from on the ground. Conner gets up, running to the monster to tackle it down. But the Berseker Queen reacts to fast for the clone, using both her arms to slam down the charging clone.

The Berserker Queen crushes her metal gauntlets down on top of him, beating him down over and over. Conner tries to get up, but the Berserker Queen isn't stopping as Conner was slam into the ground.

Again and again.

Until he stops moving.

The Berserker Queen roars in triumph as she turns around, leaving a dead clone behind.

Everyone heard the roar from inside.

"What was it?" Robin said, Sovereign narrows his eyes as he signs.

"Of course, she is here too" Sovereign said, two rulers so far, can't forget her.

"Who's she?" Wally asked him, another roar was heard.

RAAAAHHHHHHH

"The Berserker Queen" Sovereign said to him, the Berserker Queen is one of the worst at breaking the faith of soldiers.

M'gann de-camouflages after the first roar but she loses her balance, with a groan she leans against her Uncle.

"No. He's gone." M'gann said through the link. She falls to her knees, crying, and Wally approaches her easily.

"It's all right. We'll find him with Artemis. I know it." Wally said, but Sovereign shakes his head.

"He didn't get shot" Sovereign said, he should have warned him, he needs to stop Warlock now.

"Yes." Manhunter interjects as well.

"My mind is clearer now. The disintegration beam is exactly that. There is no detention facility, no prisoners to rescue. Our mission holds no purpose. To destroy the mothership" Manhunter said to them. Wally grabs Manhunter by the front of his cape.

"No! You're wrong. The Zeta Radiation proves she's alive. She's-!"

Robin grabs him by the shoulder, turning the ginger to face him, holding him still with his hands on both his shoulders.

"Stop it, KF. I've been scanning for League and Team signals since we got inside. They're not here. Artemis is gone." Wally opens his mouth to try and say something, but he grits his teeth and looks away.

"But our mission still holds purpose. To destroy this mothership." Robin said to him, Wally gets mad at them, Sovereign looks around trying to find Warlock.

"Ahhhhh" They all turn, hearing a familiar voice, Wally stands straight.

"Artemis!" Wally shouted, running to her, as they all turned to him.

"Wally, stop" Robin shouted for him, but he was too far.

"Hold on" Sovereign grabs Robin and the Martians, he teleports all of them to Wally location.

"Artemis, are you ok?" Wally said, seeing a restrained Artemis to the wall but still in her winter gear after quickly destroying a drone had was shocking her.

"I teleported in a cell, got stuck on the wall, and shock by a robot, of course I'm not ok" Artemis shouts, as Wally tries to open her cuffs, as everyone teleports in.

"Artemis you're alive" M Martian shouted, helping Wally break Artemis out, as she went to hug her with Wally as well.

"I'm so happy you're alive," Wally said in relief. Artemis looks between them too.

"I get M'gann but you Wally, worried for me" Artemis asked them, Wally stops what he was doing, stepping back.

"Whatt, no no, I'm just happy to know I was right, that's all" Wally said, not looking at anyone, Robin looks confused.

"That's impossible, how are you here?" Robin asks, he is trying to scan for anyone alive here, but nothing yet Artemis is here, Manhunter looks confused.

"I don't know what happened, I got shot and then got stuck in a wall" Artemis said, shrugging as the Sovereign looked forward, hearing a familiar sound coming.

"We don't have time for this, Robin keeps doing the mission, I'll handle the Warlock and the Queen" Sovereign said, Miss M looked concerned.

"You can't Michael, it's too dangerous" M'gann said, but Sovereign shakes his head.

"Only I can stop them, just destroy this place and get out" Sovereign said, running forward to meet the Queen.

"He can handle it, he faces those other two" Robin said looking at his hologlove.

"This way" Robin leads, Wally gives Artemis her bow and arrows.

"Don't lose them" Wally said, Artemis takes it following behind them as Robin leads them to the core.

Sovereign runs forward as he uses his psionics to find the Berserker Queen, turning a corner Sovereign runs forward, channelling psionics in his Warlock gauntlet he uses Charge on the Queen.

Charge or Psionics charge uses psionic to augment speed and strength, and charges across the battlefield towards a target. The Queen turns to the sound, as Sovereign smashes into the Queen, launching her into a wall.

"Not this time" Sovereign said, the Berserker Queen is dazed, but Sovereign isn't letting her get the chance, gathering Psionic in her Avatar Psi Amp, using both the gauntlet and amp to Levitate the Berserker Queen. As she waves her arms while floating in the air.

Now normally a psionic can only levitate a human size weight, maybe more. But Sovereign wasn't any old psionic, he was the Commander of XCOM, and he was not letting the Berserker Queen kill another team.

With the psionic gather in his hand he crushes it, the Berserker queen groans at the damage she is getting, as Sovereign drops his hand down. Crashing her down with a thump.

Sovereign pulls out the Katana, channelling energy from his fingertips to the blade as he swipes the blade. Taking a breath as the Berserker Queen stands up as Sovereign swings the Katana.

Off with her head as Sovereign decapitated the Berserker Queen.

The Katana is the most powerful melee weapon available to XCOM, used by the Chosen Assassin. The Katana does extreme damage, and cannot miss or be dodged; armour will not save enemies from Katana attacks. With psionics on the blade, making it more powerful.

"That's the last of you" Sovereign said, now for the Warlock.

Meanwhile the team opens a door to a room stained with red light, the source a gigantic orange sphere, with a metallic partial shell around it. Two drones are on their side of the sphere.

Robin looks at his HoloGlove.

"This is the power core. Blow this and the whole mothership blows." Robin explains to them. They all take off to one of the platforms at the same time. Robin lands first and closest to the edge; his eyes go wide for a moment, feeling the change in gravity that tugs at his cape and his whole body towards the sphere.

Wally drops closer to him with Artemis following, while the Martians stay in the air behind him, rushing to grab his hand as Robin falls to the floor and they both get pulled towards the sphere.

He looks around and eyes the metal shell, when they get inside it he fires his grapple, and two hang from it.

Drones start approaching them, M'gann hits a few while her uncle knocks a few others. As the three non-Martians land on the platform over the core.

Robin begins to take off the extra straps as Wally punches the drone away and Artemis shoots one down.

"You knew." Wally realises, seeing what was happening

"You knew from the beginning why we were really here." Wally said, as Artemis turns to them, still holding on to her bow and arrow.

Robin types away on his Hologlove before looking down at the charges.

"Four minutes. Let's go." Robin said they were about to leave, but six drones started approaching but Artemis fired her arrows at them, taking all of them out.

"Yeah, I am so happy we found you" Wally said, happy they found Artemis at least, none of them see Artemis arm another arrow at them.

Artemis lets go, an arrow pieces against Wally's shoulder.

"Ahhhhhh" Wally gasps his shoulder in pain, looking shocked at the arrow.

"Wally" Robin and M'gann shouted, looking shocked at Artemis' betrayal, Artemis in question jumped down near the down Wally.

"Whyyyyy" Wally gasp in pain, the betrayal hurting more than the arrow in the shoulder, that expression change as everyone look in horror at Artemis body began to morph and torn itself apart as he head change and expanded, her arms turn longer, and mouldy, sharp black claws in each hand the everyone look in horror at the faceless monster before them that was once Artemis.

The Soulless monster roared stabbing Wally with its claws.

"AHHHH" Wally shouted as Soulless brought Wally closer as he came to be enveloped by its flesh.

"Wally" M'gann shouted, about to help him.

RAaaahhhhhhhhhh

A roar mixed with machinery called them

The Martians turns to see another abomination, an unholy fusion of machine and alien, machine like legs, metal claw and a futurity gun on the other arm. The alien face with half the body covered in a machine.

(XCOM 2: Alien Hunters 2.0 (Sectoid Admiral), search it up too)

Sectoid Admiral yells at the Martians, aiming his big gun at the two, a stream of plasma shoots out like fire. Both M'gann and Manhunter got back from the superhot plasma, keeping the distance from the cyborg alien.

Manhunter flies at the Sectoid Admiral, phasing closer and avoiding the plasma as he tries to beat down the cyborg. But the Sectoid Admiral throws his metal claw and grabs the phasing Martian.

Manhunter screams in pain, the Sectoid Admiral can grab him despite his phasing ability. Smashing him in the grab, Sectoid Admiral screams at the Manhunter.

"Ahhhhhh" Manhunter screams in pain.

"Uncle J'onn" M'gann screamed, sending broken drones at the Sectoid, knocking him away from her uncle, she quickly got to his side. Robin looks down at his Glove but doesn't engage the Holo.

"Sixteen seconds and counting. Miss Martian, take Manhunter and go." Robin orders, seeing the Soulless monster wrap one of its claws around Wally as it starts to walk to him.

"No. We won't leave you." M'gann objects, the Sectoid Admiral throws the broken machine off him as it glares at them.

"That's an order. I'll get Michael and teleport us out of here." Robin tells her, the Sectoid Admiral shoots plasma at the Martians, she quickly phases herself and uncle out of the hangar.

Sectoid Admiral starts shooting through the walls, the plasma fires through the walls as Miss Martian dodges each blast though the walls as she escapes.

Robin looks at his hologlove counting down from 10, looking back at Wally who is gasping for air with blood leaking out his mouth, Robin pulls out several disks and charges forward.

LINE

Deep in the Mothership the Warlock sits in the middle of a mediation chamber, taking deep breaths as psionic energy flows out of him.

"This world is nothing to the elders' ' Warlock spoke, as images of the superheroes died, one by one.

"Such power, such wonder, this world under the guidance of the elders will reach utopia" Warlock imagines the world under the Elders control, with him as their hand.

"You can make this world into something new" Warlock said, recalling the Commander.

"But you hold back, even now" Warlock said about the Commander.

"We are chosen Commander, both of us, giving a part in the great plan in the Elder's design" Warlock said, standing up from this mediation.

"I am the Harbinger for the Elders, their weapon to make a greater world" Warlock turns to face the phasing Commander right in front of him.

"You are something more" Warlock smiles at the Commander, but Michael didn't say anything, pulling out the Katana, Michael slashed the Warlock. Killing him instantly.

Michael looks down at the body of the Chosen, still smiling when he meets him.

"What are you up to?" Michael asked, not seeing the big picture yet, closing his eyes and sensing Robin planting the bomb but also sensing three familiar presences, narrowing his eyes at this.

LINE

The ship explodes in three small explosions, right, left, and centre before the whole thing goes up.

Manhunter and M'gann phase out of the ground and look at the fiery plume.

"Don't… Don't tell me the mission was a success. The price was too high." M'gann begs, and then closes her eyes for a moment.

As Sovereign phase walks in front of her.

"Michael" M'gann cries, hugging Michael with all her might, Michael gives her a pat but turns around.

Michael looks around, seeing three certain figures walking through the fires.

Soulless slowly saunters through the flames in his own disturbing way

Sectoid Admiral aiming his gun at them.

But what scared the Martians was the third figure; this one was huge compared to the other two. This creature is similar to the bug monster, the Chryssalid. But much bigger with two extra insect legs on top of its body and a large bug sack on its bottom.

(XCOM 2: Alien Hunters 2.0 (Chryssalid Queen) or XCOM Hive mod, the Chryssalid Queen)

"Your all here" Michael said to them, remembering XCOM receives a signal that prompts them to return to their old base, which was rebuilt and reactivated by Dr. Vahlen, then XCOM learns that Vahlen experimented on three more aliens and they escaped to three exotic locations, how they had to find them before they cause more damage.

Michael remembers the Sectoid Admiral leading armies of Sectoids with tactics not used by ADVENT. The Chryssalid being gene alters to a much weaker species, but with Dr. Vahlen experiment the Chryssalid, they became their own factor against both XCOM and ADVENT. And Soulless, a faceless with extreme cunning, able to infiltrate both ADVENT and XCOM headquarters, causing havoc on both sides.

Michael looks at each of them, getting his weapons ready, aiming his Arashi against them.

"I'm ending this" Michael said to them, ready to fight

J'onn looks at the destruction and the monsters before them

"Yes. We have to end this now." J'onn says with such force it's nearly a snarl, but Sectoid Admiral snarls at him.

Sending a Mind Blast to both Martians, they hold their head in pain.

Michael shoots at the Sectoid with Darkclaw, sending him back from the force. As Soulless runs forward to the stun Martians but Michael aims at him with Arashi, shooting at the charging ruler. But the Soulless knocks the shotgun aside.

Soulless grabs Michael and tries to crush him, using Leech to snare him with his long arm. Soulless flesh envelopes Michael, but Michael was prepared.

Using his psionics to shield himself and push away Soulless's hand, knocking him aside, Michael looks to see Sectoid Admiral aim his gun at the Martian, Michael starts running at him to shoot him but he loses his guns.

Looking back Michael sees Soulless stole his guns and weapons in his hand, Soulless is the only Faceless that can use weapons.

"Motherfucker" Michael curses, but he still has his gauntlets, knocking the Sectoid to the side as Michael tackles him, crashing to the ground as the Soulless come behind Michael for the two Martians.

All while the Chryssalid Queen crawls behind watching the Commander.

The Sectoid gets up with a roll and tries to kick the Commander, but Michael catches the kick and smashes the leg with the Warlocks gauntlets, cracking the metal.

And kneeing the Sectoid's face as Commander turns to stop Soulless from jumping up the tall slimy creature and grabbing it throat, choking it with his strength and psionics.

Soulless struggles to break the hold, can't move the Commander due to his Psionics, trying to shoot him with the Chosen's weapons. But the Commander wasn't making it easy, as Michael swung around giving the Sectoid another kick, knocking him down again.

Using this weight and psionic Michael is able to land on the ground and throw Soulless out of the way while kicking his face. Sending him through the dirt.

That is when the Chryssalid Queen strikes.

M'gann wakes up from the mind attack as she and her Uncle J'onn watch Michael fight all three monsters, and he gets overwhelmed.

Michael throws rocks at the Sectoid but Soulless punches him with its massive arm, into the Chryssalid Queen claws. Michael tries to stab the Chryssalid Queen with his Psi blade from his Warlock gauntlets, but only could elbow her as it grabs his head, using her back insect blades to stab the Commander as he breaks the hold with a pulse of psionics energy.

Soulless grabs the Commander, slashing him with the Katana and other weapons stuck in its arm, hitting him in the head. Making him dazed as the Sectoid grabs him with his metal hand, throwing him over his shoulder, Michael tries to step up but the Sectoid kicks him in the head.

"MICHAEL" M'gann shouted with tears, seeing her friend get hurt like this.

Michael is on his knees, feeling the pain on his face as he stands up, Soulless shoots him, one with the Arashi and the Darkclaw, then with the Disruptor Rifle, each shot hurts him more. Into the Sectoid Admiral way, the Sectoid hits him with his plasma gun, knocking Michael back as he charges his gun.

NNNNNNNNNN

Shooting Michael with a full Plasma blast.

BLLLLLAAAAAAAAA

Sending Michael flying in the air as the Martian moves out of the way as Michael rolls into the ground, hitting the dirt and rocks on the ground.

Michael splits blood on the ground as he slowly gets up.

As the three rulers made their way to the Martians, Michael got on his knees as he held on to his Psi blades.

"You'll never stop" Michael said to himself, drawing his other Psi blade.

"I'll take you all on" Michael said, jumping back to the fray, stabbing both Psi blades into the Soulless, as he push him into the Chryssalid Queen, Michael use his Psi blades to move Soulless and himself around of the Chryssalid Queen's claws, throwing the Faceless into the Sectoid as he slices the Chryssalid Queen sides.

The Chryssalid Queen tries to slash the Commander but the Commander cuts her arm off, grabbing it with his psionics and throwing it behind him, hitting the Sectoid Admiral gun, shoots the side missing him. Soulless charges with the Chosen's weapons.

The Commander spins, using his Psi blade to cut both Soulless and the Chryssalid Queen. The Commander grabs the Chosen's weapons attached to Soulless arm and fires them all at the Chryssalid Queen.

The Chryssalid Queen screeches while the Commander spins Soulless around into the Sectoids' way, forcing him to move around.

The Commander sends a Soulfire to the Chryssalid Queen, burning her while Soulless tries to hit him using the momentum of the spin. But Michael stops him with a psi empower head-butt.

Knocking Soulless out cold as Michael quickly makes his way to the Sectoid. Stabbing one Psi blade in his leg, cutting the machinery and stabbing him in the chest, the Sectoid Admiral falls on his knees while the Commander punches his head.

Grabbing the Sectoid Admiral's gun and aiming it at the Sectoid's head.

PLAAAAAAA

Killing the Sectoid Admiral with his own weapon, the Commander turns to block the arm of Soulless, before cutting it off.

Soulless screeches in pain as the Commander hits Soulless with its own arm, Michael pulls the Katana out of the arm, and cuts Soulless head off.

Another Ruler down.

Michael quickly Phase Walks into the Chryssalid Queen head, stabbing her in the head with his Psi Blade as she screeches at him, climbing on top of her body, Michael stabs the other as well. Using both Psi Blades Michael ripped the Chryssalid Queen's head in half while it was screeching its pain the whole time.

The large body of Chryssalid Queen tries to stand but Michael pulls it on the ground.

"Piece of shit" Michael said, looking over at the stunned Martians at the fight they just witnessed.

"Are you alright?" Michael asked, as M'gann smiled and looked at him in awe and relief even Manhunter was impressed by the fight.

M'gann eyes widened in panic.

"Behind you" M'gann shouted, Michael felt something grab his shoulder and stab in the back.

"NOOOO FFUCCCCCCKKKKK" Michael yells in pain as he turn to see Warlock's hand in his chest, lifting him up in the air.

"You're so weak," Warlock said to the Commander as he struggled to fight.

"NOOOO" M'gann shouted but the Warlock raised his other hand and stopped both Martians in their tracks.

"This end now" Warlock said, sending a psionics blast to the Commander, killing him as M'gann cries that the hopeless situation there is in.

LINE

Mount Justice;

M'gann's hair is once again pulled back by her headband and the top corner of her collar of her school outfit is just barely visible as her eyes snap open and she gasps for air.

She slowly sits up, Captain Marvel slowly helps Wally up behind her, while Red Tornado helps Artemis. She gasps in relief as she sees Conner sitting up, Wolf's giant head in his lap. Kaldur slowly pushes himself up by his elbow.

"You're all alive!" She is relieved.

Robin sweats as he pushes himself to sit, looking around. While Michael holds his head in pain.

"What happened in there?" Batman asks of Manhunter.

"The exercise, it all went wrong." Manhunter says.

"Exercise?" Robin's voice cracks as he heaves in his breaths.

"God damm it" Michael said, holding his head in pain, since when did he have a headache.

"Try to remember." Batman insists.

"What you experienced was a training exercise." Batman explains to them,

Early that day, the Team was relaxing on the same beds they were all sitting on now. Wally and Kaldur already laying back, Superboy propped up on one elbow as he petted Wolf. M'gann relaxing her hands under her head, Artemis was on her side, her right arm under her head. Robin was propped up on an elbow, looking to his mentor and Michael looking at this set up with a questionable look while Captain Marvel stood nearby and Tornado was working on a HoloScreen.

"Manhunter psychically linked the six of you within an artificial reality." Batman explains, when Manhunter stood in the middle of the circle his hands reached out and his eyes closed in concentration all of them were lying down seemingly asleep.

"You all knew this was going in. What you didn't know was that it was a train-for-failure exercise."

The Team stood ready in a space void that seemed to be among the clouds. Their clothes shifted into their costumes and they now stood in Mount Justice.

"No matter what the Team accomplished, the scenario was designed to grow worse. Still you were aware nothing was real, including the deaths of the entire Justice League"

The scene of the Lanterns' deaths plays out again.

"That is why you hardly grieved." Manhunter picks up.

"Wolf only scared you for how graphic it was" Manhunter explains, Conner continues scratching at one of Wolf's ears.

"But all that changed when Artemis died." Manhunter explains, Wally looks to the still silent Artemis as she looks at her hands in her lap.

Artemis is in her tundra gear and the last moments before her "death" play again after getting caught by that giant snake.

"Though consciously Miss Martian knew it was not real, her subconscious mind could not make that distinction. She forgot it was only an exercise." Manhunter spoke recalling M'gann screams signify exactly when everything went off the rails.

"Artemis!" M'gann shouting at her.

"And her subconscious took control, making all of you forget too." The whole Team turns to a distraught M'gann.

"Uh, I'm… I'm so sorry." She tried looking between both her teammates and her mentors.

"This isn't her fault! Why didn't you stop the exercise?" Conner demands.

"We tried." Manhunter says strongly.

"But M'gann had a death grip on the scenario."

Manhunter's hands fall back to his sides as M'gann is suddenly floating in the air, but still unconscious.

"Even Artemis, who should have awakened upon her death, was so convinced she had passed, she slipped into a coma."

Manhunter looks between the teens and seeing that Artemis was still unconscious turns to M'gann, who is now lying down again.

"I realised I would have to wrestle control from Miss Martian's subconscious from within." Manhunter said, showing he reaches out and puts his hands on her temples.

"But upon entering the reality I was overwhelmed by your collective emotion. There was too much noise to think clearly to remember why I was there, then the attacks" Manhunter recalls, M'gann's elation and Kaldur's hesitance are magnified as M'gann finds him under the rubble, then the Archon King charging at him.

"The deaths of Aqualad and Superboy helped." Both the scenes play in horrifying detail.

"But only when the mothership exploded, and Robin and Kid Flash were silenced did my mind clear enough to remember my true purpose."

The explosions remain but M'gann mourning is glossed over as looks back at him.

"To shock M'gann out of the exercise before your comas became permanent." Manhunter said but turned to look at Michael.

"However M'gann mind wasn't the only one, Michael's mind was fighting both the world and my intrusion" Manhunter explain, Viper King scaring them, Archon King destroying everything, Berserker Queen killing Superboy, Soulless manipulating Kid Flash and stabbing him in the back, Sectoid Adminal attacking the Martians and the Chryssalid Queen spawning Chryssalids.

"How did you break us out" Kid asked him

"I didn't" Manhunter said looking at Michael holding his head in pain.

"Your mind was subconsciously fighting both mine and M'gann while trying to break you out of the world" Manhunter said as Michael recalls Warlock stabbing him, the Rulers killing the team and trying to kill both Martians invading his mind.

What does this mean? Michael thinks holding his head in pain as he feels blood coming from his nose.

"My apologies. I had no idea a training exercise could be so dangerous… so damaging." Manhunter says to the Dark Knight.

M'gann is turned away from her teammates, a hand covering her face. Captain Marvel approaches her, Conner close behind.

He turns to leave and nearly collapses, leaving Tornado and the Bat to support him.

"As bad as all that?" Batman asks slowly.

"Perhaps worse." Manhunter admits. Red Tornado makes an easy observation.

"Yet this is not what troubles you." Red Tornado said to them. Batman helps the Manhunter stand again.

"Make no mistake. My niece is untrained and cannot be held responsible for this… for our debacle." Manhunter helps his niece, not wanting her to take the blame for this.

"No one blames her." Batman states. "But clearly we underestimated her abilities."

"You underestimate it." he presses. "In terms of raw power, she has the strongest telepathic mind I have ever encountered." She sobs in Captain Marvel's arms, while Conner only stands by. He looks over his shoulder at the other two Leaguers.

"Stronger by far than mine." Manhunter warns but turns to Michael holding his head as Artemis walks to him.

"But Michael is on a level beyond both myself and my niece combined, probing his mind let others trigger his mind subconsciously" Manhunter said, another aspect of this exercise was to probe Michael's mind while he was in the dream world, Batman's idea for it.

"Did you get anything?" Batman asked him, wanting to know more about Michael.

"Nothing, when I started to probe, his mind defended itself, that's when Michael's subconscious began to break the world" Manhunter explains, the time he tried to probe Michael mind he was stopped and then Viper king started attacking the team.

"Unlike my niece, Michael is more powerful and experienced in the mind than I thought possible, even now he holds back" Manhunter warns them, while M'gann is powerful but inexperienced; Michael is even more so and very experience. Batman narrows his eyes looking at Michael talking to Artemis and Robin while holding his head in pain.
