One thing I want to say before chapter 3 starts, is that chapter 1 is influenced heavily by the original fanfiction of Punk 18 and Geek Krillin. I would have done things differently now that I think about it, but I love that chapter so I wanted to resemble it as much as I could. Everything from now one is all me though. I hope this series takes off like my other one.
Chapter 3
The days leading up to Wednesday were agonizing for Krillin. Not only was he nervous beyond belief, but he made the mistake of asking Bulma, Yamcha, and Goku for help. He did that because he hadn't gone on a date in a long time and he didn't want to screw this one up, but Kami his friends were going overboard with the advice. He appreciates the gesture, but there was such a thing as being TOO helpful. They couldn't hold themselves back, they were happy for Krillin. His pals just wanted to prepare him as best as they could.
"I'm telling you Krillin, chicks dig suits. Just show up in one of those bad boys, and put on some fancy cologne, and 18 will be begging for a second date." Yamcha told his buddy who was sitting on an armchair.
"Uhh…"
From an outsider perspective it looked like the short man was getting interrogated. He sat alone in Bulma's living room as his friends stood in front of him. They were not questioning him, rather they were giving him answers.
"And how many times has that worked for you?" The bluenette questioned.
"None. I have no need for a suit, I'm already the total package. Bulma, some people have to pick between brains, brawn, and beauty, but I've got both." … … … "I mean all three!"
Bulma rolled her eyes. Krillin and Goku couldn't help but laugh.
"I think you should just let her talk about her problems and you just listen, girls like good listeners." Goku said.
"That is better," Bulma spoke up, "While that is true Goku, that sounds like something a married couple would do. Not two people going out on their first date. Tell us how your's and Chichi's first date went."
"Oh, uh, let's see." Goku stuttered. "Our first date...uh...hmm...that was...like a decade ago, probably...Uh, be right back." Goku said, reaching for his phone and heading outside the room. Hopefully Chichi wouldn't snap when she realizes that he is calling because he can't remember their first date.
"Ok, now it is time for some real advice." The CEO said.
"So should I forget the last hour of information I heard?" Krillin asked.
"Everything Yamcha said, yes. Everything Goku said, for now. It will be useful to you one day, but not any time soon. As far as Wednesday night goes it is simple: All you have to do is… be yourself."
"That's it?" Krillin said.
"What? Bulma, that is the lamest thing you could have possibly said!" Yamcha said.
"Zip it bandit boy. I've had to endure you telling him the stupidest stuff like, 'buy her the most expensive flowers you can find' or 'if you don't give her a good-bye kiss then you can kiss your chances good-bye'. I don't want to hear it!"
"That is good advice, women love that sort of stuff."
"Maybe the women you go for, but not all of us. And besides...isn't spending a lot of money just you...being yourself?"
Bulma checkmated him there. Yamcha sounded like all he cared for was money, but it really wasn't like that. He just liked using his assets from being a professional baseball player to the best of his abilities. What better way to show that off than impressing the ladies? His tips on dating though, were indeed not helping anyone.
"I'm going to get a beer…" It was the long haired man's turn to make his defeated exit.
It was down to just Krillin and his good friend Bulma, now they could make some progress.
"Are you sure that is all I have to do Bulma?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm sure. If this woman decides she likes you but you act like someone else, then she'll fall for that person and not Krillin." She responded. "You can't try to not be your quirky, geeky self, if she doesn't like that side of you, then it just wasn't meant to be. Don't lie about anything!"
Sometimes Krillin forgot Bulma was a genius. This wasn't exactly something you needed to be an egghead to figure out, anyone could piece it together. Krillin was just in awe how easy she made it seem.
"And if you are yourself," She continued, "Then I'd say you'd be good to go. You're a real catch Krillin.
"You think so?"
"Of Course! Why else have I been your friend for over 15 years! Just treat her like you treat most people then you'll have nothing to worry about. She'll be all for date No. 2."
Krillin knew she was just being nice, but it did help his ego so he didn't mind it.
"But Bulma, can I ask you something? And I need you to be 100% honest."
"What?"
"Do...do you honestly think...she would actually like a guy who is this short? I'm only 5 feet tall, I only go up to her neck for crying out loud."
Bulma placed her index finger and her thumb on her chin and looked slightly downward. "Hmm, tough to say. I haven't met her so I can't give you a clear answer. That is something that you will have to find out by yourself. You don't need to worry about that, a good relationship is built on what is one the inside, not the outside. It's cheesy but the truth. I should know, Vegeta and I are the same height. I will say though, since she is the one who handed you her number, odds are she probably doesn't care. Why exactly are you asking that question? I thought you'd made peace with your height a long time ago."
"I did...it's just that...I hope she is sincere and she isn't using me for some monetary purpose."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well...you remember Mar-...my last girlfriend. She took advantage of me. Back then I thought a beautiful woman took a liking to me but it turns out I was gullible and she was using me for my money, she didn't actually take anything seriously. I'm scared this is how 18 will be…"
"Krillin…" His words stung Bulma's heart. He was such a nice guy that she couldn't understand why anyone would take advantage of him. Speaking of which, Bulma hated that bitch Maron. She thought she was better than her just because she has a bigger ass, and she had the nerve to call her old when they were only 5 years apart. It was a bittersweet feeling when the gang found out Maron left Krillin for a richer man. It was good that she was gone, but she left on her terms and for a reason that felt like a kick to the ribs. They all were hoping Krillin would have flipped out on her and that he would have been the one to get the last laugh. But that didn't happen, all they could hope for now was for the universe to give that bimbo what she deserved.
The room filled with silence for a brief period after Krillin's saddeneding confession. Bulma put an end to that by harshly flicking his forehead.
*THWIP*
"OW! What was that for!" Krillin blurted out.
"Don't think like that! You'll make yourself depressed, think more positively."
She was correct...again. "You're right, you're right...I don't need to be thinking like that. I'll just ask 18 Wednesday night at the restaurant about the height. She seems like a brutally honest person so she will answer it for me."
"I hope it goes well, I want to meet this woman. I've been thinking about getting another piercing, I'd love to get her perspective on the matter."
"Alright, so now that tutoring session is finished. What are we doing tonight?"
"Finished? No, that was just how you have to act. We haven't gone over the formalities. First off, you should offer to pay. You shouldn't assume you have to pay, she may not like that, but she…"
Oh man, how much longer can this go on? Krillin was thinking. I wonder if 18 is preparing for Wednesday?
"Look, I told you we were going to be late if we went that way!" A shoulder length black haired man said.
"He is family, he won't care that we got here 10 minutes late. Stop crying and pull into the driveway already!" A person with an equal length of hair said, hers was a silk blonde instead of a dark black.
"Can't admit your wrong still, I sure hope this Krillin guy can change you for the better. Heh. He would need some sort of super power to do that though."
18 gave him a sinister look, then followed that up by smacking him upside the head.
*SMACK*
"Oww!"
"I'm glad that hurt, now c'mon let's go."
"...bitch.…" 17 said very, very quietly.
It might seem that the two don't get along and that they didn't like each other, but that was far from the truth. The twins had a bond that could not be broken. They were the other's only blood relation on the planet that they knew of. The brother and sister's bond was so tight that the teasing and roasting they did to each other daily was just their way of showing their siblingly affection to each other. But yes, there was a pinch of hostility every now and again. They were siblings after all.
The two made it to the front door and 17 rang the doorbell. Not even a minute passes before the final sibling, 16, opens it up and invites them in.
"Ah, you're here." The big guy with orange hair looks down at his watch. "And only 10 minutes late."
"I know I know, blame your sister." 17 snarkly says.
"He's right, I'm sorry." She bows her head.
"It's ok, since you got here late the food is already prepared. We can start eating."
"Aww nice, maybe you're good for something after all sis." 17 said.
"You're not."
16, 17, and 18 step inside and make their way to 16's dining table to enjoy what he made for them.
.
.
.
"Oh man, this chicken is delicious 16!" 18 said, not caring that her mouth was full.
"Yeah, mmm, really good bro." 17 agreed.
"Thank you, can you pass the salad." He responded.
17 put his fork and knife down to oblige to his request. "Mmm, so why did you invite us over tonight? Any reason?"
"No, not really."
16 was a very simplistic person by nature. He lived a quiet and peaceful life and he would never want that to change. Making him happy also wasn't very difficult. Feeding birds, working at his job, and spending time with 17 and 18 all were easy things for him to achieve, but it made him smile. It was really hard for him to portray emotions, so a small grin showed volumes.
"I haven't seen you two in a week and I just wanted to talk." He continued.
"About anything in particular?"
He shook his head no. "But, How is work for the both of you?"
17 went first. "Pretty good, the lions finally let me get close to them. I still don't have the gauls to pet them yet that's for sure, but I think they like me. I do feed them after all."
This half of the twins worked at a zoo. 17 has a love for animals, and the environment in general, that he got from 16 when they were younger. While 16 couldn't follow a career down that path due to having the responsibility of having to work for his late father's company, he implored 17 to follow what he wanted to do. Being a zookeeper was only the first step on his journey however, hopefully one day he could do something more important for mother nature.
"That's great!" 16 responded. "Next time I visit your work you should show me. 18, what about yours?"
"It sucks, mmm, as usual." 18 said, reaching for another piece of chicken to devour.
Unlike her brother, this half of the twins hated her job. She worked at a shitty gas station and only did it because it was a source of income. That, and she had a problem with getting hired at most places.
"You need to find a career that you love, or at the very least that you can rely on. I'm sure I could find you a job at Red Ribbon, that would be much better for you." The host said in between bites.
"I know 16," This was not the first time he has pestered her about this topic. "Tt's just...I just...it wouldn't feel right working there, my positioning hasn't changed. 17 feels the same as I do."
"...I understand, but you need to look for a job you like and something that can provide a stable life."
"Or marry rich." 17 chimed in. He was proud of that one because he immediately started to snicker.
"Ah yes, that reminds me." 16 spoke. "How was that date with Krillin?"
18 ignored that comment from 17. "We haven't had it yet. We are going to go get sushi tomorrow for dinner."
"I hope it goes well, I have a good feeling about him. I didn't think you'd have given him your number, it was a real surprise. Why exactly did you?...If you don't mind me asking."
"Mmm." She wiped her mouth with a napkin. "My gut just told me to. He was giving off good vibes the whole time I was with him. He was kind, genuine, and laughed at my jokes. But what really got my attention was that he was adopted too. So before he dropped us off I was like 'what the hell, why not'. Oh, and he is cute."
"Oooh, you never told me that sis." 17 said. "Finally some new info, she won't tell me squat about this guy. Can you tell me anything about him 16?"
"Sorry, but that is not my jurisdiction. That is up to 18." He said, flatly.
"Bummer…"
"Thanks big guy, at least someone here can respect people's personal lives." 18 stated.
"Ughhh." He groaned sourly. "Do you even know what he does for a living?"
"Hmmm...Nope, not a clue. If I had to guess by his car and what he was wearing I'd say it was a white collar type job, something along those lines. But that is just a guess."
"I see, don't you think that would be an issue?" 17 said, tapping the smooth end of his fork on his head.
"What is that supposed to mean 17?" 18 was confused, this better not be some sort of cruel insult. 16 was also worried this was going to be rude.
There was a short silence then he spoke. "Don't take offense to this 18, but if he has this hot shot office job, what is he gonna think when you tell him you work at a gas station?"
18 hadn't thought of that...would Krillin care about her occupation? He seemed like a pretty understanding guy but, where does he draw the line? "I dunno, but he doesn't come off like the shallow type. If anything he will probably tell me that it was cool."
"Mmm I don't know 18. Those two jobs don't sound like they mix very well. You could tell him you work at Red Ribbon Inc. just to be safe. We do have shares in the company so that isn't technically lying...right?" He looked at his older brother for an answer.
"Kinda...I guess." 16 answered.
"I'm not taking dating advice from you of all people 17, you don't even date. All you do is have one night stands then never call the girl again, what do you know about relationships?" 18 said.
"I know plenty. Like for starters, I know I need a kind woman that can take care of me, feed me, and nurture me, while I provide for her. All those women you've mentioned are just stepping stones to the perfect girl."
18 rolled her eyes while 16 grinned.
"You're an idiot."
Disregarding the part about her younger brother's love life, did he actually have a good point about 'stretching the truth' regarding her occupation? It was hard to say, she wasn't even sure if Krillin was boyfriend material yet. It was only the first date. But if he was something like a financial manager and she told him that she was a cashier, what would he actually think?
She is going to have to sleep on it.
"Either way, I'm excited. I think it will be a good time." She said after her last bite.
"I hope you have fun." 16 said "Cough Cough"
"You ok bro?" 17 asked.
"Yeah, just a cough. Nothing to worry about." 16 scanned the table. Everyone had empty plates and there was only one piece of chicken, a spoon full of potatoes, and half a bowl of salad left.
"Can you two help me clean up?"
"Yeah, sure." They both said.
"After that, let's find a movie to stream. I saw this really gory horror movie that looked awesome, we should watch it." 18 said, getting up from the table.
Her brothers joined her.
"Haha, that's funny that you think you're picking." 17 snarked.
"Why not, you won't be able to find anything good."
"It doesn't matter, only people who can get here on time get to pick!"
He had a point...18 looked at 16 to see his reaction.
"He's got you there."
17 laughed as 18 looked defeated and took her plate to the sink.
It was a pretty opposite night for our soon to be daters. One walked into his friend's home, nervous and worried how the preceding day would unfold. His anxiety didn't get washed away by any means, but the advice his buddies gave him helped get it under control somewhat. The short man was out of practice, but he knew he could do this. He was going to make sure that his date would have an amazing time, even if it killed him.
On the other hand, the woman in the equation finally had something to be concerned over. She is a very laid back person and doesn't feel like sweating over small things. First dates? Those were definitely things that didn't need to be trifled over. You show up, you talk, and you go from there. But Krillin was different, she had never dated a guy like him and there were aspects she didn't know how to treat. She kept trying to shove them in the back of her head, but they kept creeping back up. She has no idea why, but they do.
They were different for sure, but one of them had one characteristic that they both shared. They both really had no idea how this date was going to turn out. Hopefully...for their sake, it would go well.
Sorry if these chapters seem too short. I'm learning as I go. I promise the next chapter will be longer.
Writing SFW when you've only written NSFW for a year is tough lol.
Thanks for reading!
