Hey guys, I'm so sorry I haven't updated in a while. I just got caught up in other things, and this new story I've been writing.
In this chapter I think I'll have Leo talk to Hazel about Sammy. I'll try to make it heavy on the angst, but it might end up being fluff instead. I just want to confirm that I do NOT ship them at all, Frazel is just too cute to break up. Hope you enjoy, I love you all so much and stay safe besties!
Leo inhaled the fresh air of wherever-the-Hades-they-were and sighed.
Apparently, they had been in a castle-type building, with balconies and staircases and all that fairytale stuff. There were birds, it was always sunny, and there was plenty of space to run around. There was even a giant tower in the middle of the grounds with a ladder for climbing.
Leo would have been in love with the place if they hadn't been watching his worst memories.
He leaned on the ledge of the balcony, appreciating the beautiful landscape. Judging by the sun, it was about midday.
He heard footsteps from behind him. He turned around, and saw Hazel walking up to him.
"Hey, Goldie," he grinned.
Hazel smiled at him, but it seemed half hearted.
"What's up?"
"I wanted to talk to you," Hazel said. "I realised that I've been treating you pretty badly, like all you are to me is another version of Sammy. I'm sorry."
This caught Leo unawares. "It's fine, don't worry about it."
"No, it's not fine," Hazel sighed. "I've been treating you terribly, and I'm going to try to do better. Yeah, Sammy was awesome, but he's gone now. You're Leo, not Sammy. I need to start acting like it."
Leo hesitated before smiling slightly. "Thanks, Goldie."
Hazel surprised him once more by pulling him into a tight hug, before smiling at him one last time and walking off.
Leo got about 20 more minutes of basking in the warm sunlight, before Jason came looking for him.
"Hey bro, we're supposed to get back to the room now," he said.
Leo followed him back to the TV room, where Hazel, Frank and Piper were already waiting.
"Where's Percabeth?" he asked.
"Percabeth?" Annabeth asked as she walked into the room, holding hands with Percy. "Is that supposed to be us?"
"Like two names smushed into one?" Percy added.
"Yeah, basically, but that's not the point," Leo said. "Come on, we should probably start watching the next memories."
"Hey Leo, what did you mean by the putting babies in fireplaces thing?" Piper asked.
"Why don't we ask Hera to make that the next memory?" Leo suggested. "I'm sure that would be very enlightening."
Hera's voice sounded again. She sighed. "Very well. Just remember I had my reasons."
The rest of the Seven exchanged concerned glances, and the screen lit up once again.
Leo was very young in this memory, probably less than 2 years old. He was sitting in his chair, looking as if he was already half asleep.
Opposite him, there was a woman with brown hair and kind features doing some sewing.
Everyone (except Leo) gasped.
"Is that Hera?" Hazel asked in shock.
"Yep," Leo said. "Except I knew her as Tia Callida. She was my babysitter."
The group sat in silence, processing what Leo had just told them.
"The queen of the gods. Was. Your babysitter," Jason said, still in shock.
"Yup," Leo said, now busy making something out of pipe cleaners.
"Ok," Jason said, shaking his head.
Baby Leo curled up in the chair, and promptly fell asleep.
"Aww, you were so cute," Piper squealed.
"Pipes, your Aphrodite is showing," Leo grinned.
She scowled. "I still think you were a cute baby."
Tia Callida looked up at the sleeping baby, and set aside her sewing. She scooped him up in her arms, and rocked him gently.
"It's okay, little hero," she crooned. "You'll grow up to be stronger ms braver than you ever imagined."
With that, she stood up, and slowly walked over to the fireplace. She knelt next to it, and, far too carefully for someone doing what she was doing, placed sleeping baby Leo into the fireplace.
The room erupted into screams and cries of shock.
"She just put you in a fireplace!" Piper cried in shock.
"She wanted to see if I was fireproof," Leo said, sounding far too calm for someone who was watching himself get put into a live fire.
"So she didn't know beforehand?" Hazel said, sounding faint.
"Nope," Leo confirmed, popping the "p".
"That is incredibly messed up," Frank said.
Tia Callida went back to her sewing, far too placid for a person who had just put a baby into a fireplace.
The key sounded in the door, but Tia Callida didn't look up from her sewing. Leo's mom walked in, and instantly dropped her bags with a loud scream.
"Where's the fire?" someone yelled from outside.
Percy snorted. "Okay, but that's pretty funny."
Esperanza sprinted over to the fireplace, and scooped Leo out of there instantly.
"She wasn't even immune to fire," Leo said mournfully. His mom had literally shoved her hands into fire to help him.
She rounded on Tia Callida. "What is wrong with you?" she hissed. "Get out of my house!"
Hera stood up, and disappearedwith a flash. The memory ended there.
"She just asked the queen of the gods what was wrong with her, and kicked her out of her house," Jason said, once again sounding shocked. "Bro, your mom was metal as fuck."
Leo chuckled slightly, and went back to his pipe cleaner invention.
Just then, the next memory began.
