Leo was older again, this time sitting at a desk in a plain grey room. There was a mirror on one wall, and nothing else. He was leaning back in his chair, and there was a chair opposite him. Clearly, he was not much older- only about a year or two. But he looked so different.

His physical appearance was part of it. He was thinner, showing definite signs of malnourishment. Even while sitting down, he was ever so slightly curled in on himself as if making a shell to protect himself from everyone around him. But that wasn't the worst part of his appearance.

He was even more beaten up in this memory than he had been in the other one. He had a black eye, and a split lip. A section of his face was covered in bruises, and he had several cuts. The worst part was that he was absolutely covered in blood. It was splattered across his face, soaking the front of his his shirt, the knees of his jeans, dripping from his hands.

Even worse than this was his expression.

He seemed sullen, depressed. His eyes, once filled with a joyful light, now held a dullness which made his entire face appear even more gaunt that it already was. His eyes were fixed on a spot on the table, but he didn't seem to be really seeing it. He looked truly broken, nothing like the cheerful repair boy they all knew and loved.

Piper's heart shattered at the sight of her best friend, and she almost sobbed. What could have happened to make him look like that? Was it his blood?

Somewhere off to her side, Piper heard Hazel sob. Frank comforted her, but Piper didn't take her eyes off the screen, or the depressed son of Hephaestus.

Someone came into the room, and Leo's eyes snapped up to look at them. It was a police officer.

All of a sudden, it became horribly clear to Piper that Leo was in a police station, and she wondered what had happened to land him there.

The woman sat down opposite Leo, who didn't make a sound.

She sighed. "Leo, I know what happened was terrible, but I do need you to cooperate a little. Miss Heyman seems genuinely sorry for her actions. Personally, I would not allow you back to that place, but it is procedure to ask you if you would like to return."

Suddenly, Leo caught fire.

Piper yelped and scrambled back. Leo didn't acknowledge them. Luckily, the couch seemed to be fireproof.

Piper saw Percy and Annabeth have a silent conversation. Percy shook his head, apparently decided that it wasn't worth trying to put Leo out, and that he would eventually burn himself out.

Eventually, after about half a minute of raging flames licking at the couch, he did burn out, still not looking at them as the memory continued playing.

Leo's face contorted into an expression of rage, hatred and heartbreak. "I would rather shoot myself through the head several times than even look at her again," he spat. He sounded so broken, but not the sad kind of broken. The broken where you become angry, so angry it overwhelms any other emotion. Such a wide range of emotions that they all swirled into one to make pure fury.

The pure amount of rage in the words shocked Piper. Where was kind, funny Leo? The Leo she knew?

She chanced a quick look at him, and her eyes widened. He was wearing the exact same expression as Leo from the memory, only more intense.

Which left Piper wondering, what on Earth could have happened to make him this angry?

The woman nodded. "That's understandable, and completely justified. But I do need to warn you Leo, if you don't tell us specifics about what happened, we won't be able to convict her."

Leo hesitated, clearly fighting a mental battle. "OK," he agreed eventually. "I'll tell you. But I want her in jail, not just for a few years. A life sentence. She doesn't deserve to walk free after what she did."

Jason and Piper exchanged concerned looks. Who was Miss Heyman, and what had she done to make Leo so angry? Could it be related to why he was so beaten up?

The woman smiled, and leaned forwards. "Let's start."

The screen turned off.

Slowly, in shock, everyone turned to the fuming Latino. He ignored them, as he had the entire memory.

"Hera, I want a break!" he yelled.

Surprisingly, the queen of the gods didn't protest, and the door swung open. Leo stormed out, before Piper came to her senses.

They definitely needed to talk.

"Leo, wait!" she cried, and started following him. But he didn't look back.

Piper glanced over her shoulder at the Seven. They silently came to a unanimous decision, and sprinted after Leo.
