"I'm pregnant!" Rose Quartz exclaimed to her team of rebels within their temple stationed on the shore of Beach City. The three other members of her team looked at her in shock and silence. Garnet having an unreadable expression on her face, Amethyst having a face of confusion mixed with joy and Pearl… Well, she just looked utterly shocked and for whatever reason sad. After a few moments of silence, Amethyst eventually spoke up. "Way to go Rose!" The youngest gem exclaimed. "But, one question. What does 'pregnant' mean?" She followed on with.

Rose stammered at her question, struggling to find an answer to it until Garnet intervened. "Well Amethyst, " She adjusts her visor. "It's essentially a pre-adolescent human that is created through a biological process." Amethyst stared at her tallest teammate, slightly confused before becoming extremely excited. "Wow! I won't be the youngest member of the team anymore!" She shapeshifts into a wolf and begins to run around due to her excitement. Rose giggles at Amethyst's antics, thankful that she didn't end up like the many Quartz soldiers that emerged from the Kindergarten over a thousand years ago.

Rose eventually turns to Garnet, who has an unreadable expression on her face, even under her visor. "Well Garnet, w-what do you think?" Rose says nervously. The box-face gem only responds with a simple thumbs up. The shorter gem nervously fiddles with her hands until she says "Well, what about Ruby and Sapphire in general?". Garnet adjusts her visor again as she seems in a thought process before responding to Rose's question. "They're still processing the news… but if you ever need me to see how it will go," She tilts her visor down, exposing her third eye and smirking slightly. "Just let me know." However, while 2 of the gems were excited about the announcement, there was one who wasn't so ecstatic about the announcement.

While the others weren't looking, Pearl had managed to slip away from the temple and find a secluded place behind one of the many toppled hands of the temple statue, trying to control her emotions. She collapses on the grainy sand the hand sits upon, hugging her body into a ball as she begins to cry silently. "W-what is Rose thinking!?" Pearl whispered under her breath. "She c-can't b-be pregnant!" She exclaims before bursting into heavy tears.

After a while, she feels a heavy hand on her shoulder, a touch she knows all too well.

"Pearl. Why are you crying?" Rose asked. She was the only one who would immediately notice when Pearl goes missing. Pearl looks up at her as she tries to cover up her tears "I-i'm not crying Rose!" She protests "Y-you're crying!" Rose flinches slightly at Pearls yelling but quickly composes herself, kneeling on the sand next to her. "Oh Pearl, I've known you for thousands of years. I can tell when something's wrong." She waits for an answer before Pearl hugs her tightly. After a few seconds of silence, Pearl finally responds "I-it's just… a gem has never experienced this before… let alone one as s-strong as you Rose" She carries on "I-i don't want to lose you Rose. Who knows what c-could happen!" She bursts into tears once again as Rose cradles her. "Oh, my pearl." Rose whispers to her condescendingly. "I didn't think of that," She paused before continuing "but, no matter what Pearl, I will never leave your side… I promise."

The two gems spend a few more moments alone together before they return to the temple, Rose cradling Pearl in her arms and entering the temple to spend the rest of the night alone.
